Hello all! Sorry I've been MIA. With some Covid-related life changes, I've just been in over my head the last couple months. I'm still committed to PointsPlus and this board, we just might need to re-think the format a little. What's going on with all of you? How is your weight loss journey going? Any ideas for this board going forward? We're coming up on our 1 year board anniversary!

My life is much as it was before the pandemic EXCEPT we don't go out much, don't get together for Wednesday lunches and cards and I have taken control of my eating and dropped over 25 pounds since May 16. I am tracking using the Conquer Cravings option on I Track Bites and calories on My Fitness Pal. Conquer Cravings is a mashup of the early points counting programs finding points/bites using fat, fiber and calories. I get 23 per day and 35 weeklies. I tried doing a month of the old Core program but went back to counting points for some reason...think it was because I ended up using up weeklies quickly since foods are not always easy to find locally...or something.
I am still here and doing my best but it is slow going with the weight loss. I keep telling myself that is good because it gives my body time to tighten the skin...maybe? This old skin might not tighten like it did when I was younger

cathygeha, Congratulations on your weight loss! It's great that you're finding success with conquer cravings, and bravo for trying something different and going back to the old plan when the new one didn't work, that takes grit. It probably will tighten. I hear that a lot from people who've lost lots of weight with no loose skin or stretch marks. Slow and steady wins the race! My weight loss journey is very up and down at the moment. I'm not making much progress but at least I'm not backsliding. The program works when I work it, I just need to work it! For the boards, I'm thinking maybe we'll do an in-depth on the 16 Routines and/or GHG's. I always listed them at the bottom, but maybe we could make it the topic? Set a goal and talk about it next week? Any thoughts?

irisinnia, I don't have access to the new plan so went with an app that provided me with a way to track that was free. My sister is using the "new" blue WW My Way a nd is down almost 30 pounds so, as you said, the programs work IF we work them!
At this time of year to stabilize and maintain during a pandemic si nothing to sneeze at. I applaud you for not packing on the pounds! Most of the time this journey is in huge part a mental game that impacts the body.
As for going forward...a "meeting" isn't necessary with all the bells and whistles. I think there are a number of ways to move forward and we can see what works for us. I have seen threads that run forever with a string of 100 days of continuing posts, daily threads with a topic that changes daily or is repeated on a day of the week, a weekly post (like the meeting idea) with a place to post daily about one topic. I am not sure what works the best.
I have a feeling that our group is the only one counting using past points programs. Maybe we could call our weekly thread something with "points" in it...we could have a formula for the opening of the thread each week and choose a topic, set personal goals for the week, post daily issues/questions in the weekly thread, or whatever. I think the 8-9 GHG's, food groups or foods with recipes or benefits, exercise, 10 Tools for Living, 16 Routines, goal setting, etc.
Links:
We can write a paragraph that would stay the same each week then add in at the bottom what we will work on and you or I or anyone who wanted to start the thread could do so. I wonder if we can come up with 52 new topics starting now or 52 plus the ten left in this year? I googled 10 topics to get you through holiday eating and a number of options came up.
I think we need to decide what will work for us and perhaps others will (or won't) decide to join us.

cathygeha, Thanks for the support! Great links! Some of mine started going bad, I think that threw me for a loop. I have seen those threads that go for 100 days. I'd prefer a monthly thread, if not the weekly. I'm not sure what works best either. I really like your suggestions on topic and personal goals and daily issues or questions. We can definitely work on that paragraph. And 52 topics ahead of time would be good. I think it's been about a year since the board started. How time flies! So, nothing is set in stone, we can do something for November and then revisit it in December. What would you like to do? We could use your links for November like usual. Or we could turn November into a monthly chat type thread and even post weekly topics, like a 'food for thought' thing. Or it could just be a chat and then see where we are in December. I'm leaning toward a monthly (or even weekly) chat thread where we can post links, but also talk about personal goals, etc. We could even do a Sunday start for that, like WW. What would you like to try in November?

Another thought:
16 Routines + 8 GHG's + 10 Tools for Living + A Few Spaces (living room, kitchen, bedroom, car, office, etc.) = 40 topics alone, then if you add seasonal topics like holidays and goal setting and summer finds, not to mention exercise, that seems like it would be fairly easy to make a list of 52+ weeks of topics.
Should we make a master list? Or work on that paragraph? Or both?

7 days a week or 5 and weekends:
Sunday: Weekly Goal Setting
Monday: Food/Menu Plans
Tuesday: Activity
Wednesday: Mental-Meditation, Positive Affirmation, Mantra, Quote
Thursday: Food of the week
Friday: Open Chat (though that would be good every day
Saturday: How did you do this week?
Weekly Thread: Power in Points or Points Positive or something to catch the eye * would last all week * Would include: all of the ideas above and whatever else in the first post of the week. People can chime in with their weigh-in, and whatever from the list or add to the list what they want to be accountable for.
Monthly Theme could be a single thread or part of the weekly/daily post so everyone knows what we are working on
I Need to think about 52 topics. I am sure we can come up with that many. I think as we move into the holidays we can even choose one holiday theme for each month if we want to simplify.
My gut feeling is to go back to basics as we start. I don't have any of my old material BUT if we were to take the GHG's and do the highlights of that booklet first? A refresher course?
There are 9 weeks and six days till January 1, 2021 ~ Maybe we can focus on GHG's or Tools for Living? We can work on our master list to start in January.
Also, we could ask on the general board how many are counting points using any of the old programs and what THEY might like to see on a daily/weekly board? I know there are a few using older plans and some using free apps to do so.
