Good to hear from you Phyl- sounds like you have been uncomfortable this week and busy with doctor appointments. Hope that the dry needling procedure gives you the desired pain relief..and that you feel more comfortable. Really really hoping that your sewing room gets nice and messy soon!! Ruth- just a little more time and you will be back to where you were on DGS’s afghan. Is this for the DGS in Taiwan?? Now youtubes are - as my friend Jane calls them- a “rabbit hole”. Tough to get out of for sure....but I bet you got some great inspiration.!!! CJ- good for you getting through the rain just fine. I love the way she finished the autumn jubilee quilt!!! You have such a good eye for fabric and color- plus you know where in your home you want to use that quilt- that plus the fabric you have on hand will dictate how you finish yours. I am sure it will look wonderful Not too much snow here, but it did snow for several hours. Most of it melted immediately. Ds is off today, so I started the wood burner and it feels great. I actually love winter and being cooped up inside. I did finally finish getting the directions for the pocket shawl I am making.....I will probably put the pockets on it and perhaps a fringe, but might make both a bit smaller than the designer indicates. Think I have about 20 rows to go.....but as I am not that tall, I might not need to add those many rows. I will have to see. Got the next skein out....and will be using a bit of that (as expected). Also have to check out the quilting designs that I can use on the panel quilt. Perhaps that is next on my list.... Ginny

Phyl, my daughter is a real wimp and she didn't mention that the dry was painful and I think she would have if it was but I'll ask her.One of my friends from the old WW board had a different kind of needle therapy which I think did involve medication and she said that really hurt but that's entirely different from the dry needling.
Ginny, I'm glad you didn't get too much snow. It's great to watch it floating down but not fun to have to drive in it or shovel driveways, etc. And it does sound nice and cozy to have a fire burning. It's been too warm here the last couple days to think of fires in stoves.
Today was one of those frustrating, aggravating, and exhausting days. We went only to 3 places. Went to the drive thru at the bank and that took forever and was confusing as the teller sent our cartridge back and didn't say why. We finally got everything straightened out there. Then to the post office. I don't know how they do packages anymore but any time I've ever been there I had the exact size boxes that I took today. Suddenly today they based the cost on both weight and dimensions. I don't think that's what they're supposed to do but maybe they changed how they do things. Looking on line it looks to me like it's up to each postal clerk to decide how they want to do it. He was also rude. Cost me a fortune to send those two packages. This might be the end of me sending gifts. I might have to just go with sending money. I might try UPS next if I do send any packages. Next we went to the dollar store which was an ok trip but I was sure glad to get back home. This evening I've worked on dgs' blanket but still have a ways to go to get to where I was before I had to rip out. Ginny, no this blanket is for the dgs that lives here in my town. I'd never send anything to Taiwan. I think you not only have to pay postage but also (senior moment) the fees they charge for incoming packages.Customs fees, maybe?
I just went to look up info about sending packages to Taiwan. They have quite a list of things you are prohibited from sending and one of them is Toys! So If I have great grandchildren in Taiwan I can't send toys. It also says fabric and things made from fabric. I don't know if that includes yarn.

Phyl-I am sorry that this process sounds very painful-find out what you need to about the process to see if it’s the right thing for you for sure. And we all have different Tolerance for pain. You know yourself best for sure.....
Ruth, sorry that it cost an arm and a leg to send packages. I have had similar issues with the PO- and sometimes wondered if each clerk actually knew what they were doing. Its a conundrum for sure....frequently I go to dollar tree and buy those mailer envelopes....and seem to do pretty well with postage on those. I have been on the USPS web site to try and figure out package size and cost, and gotta be honest I got nowhere. Just so annoying.....don’t blame you for being annoyed. Yes, I think its customs....and how absurd that you cannot send toys. We won’t tell them that a stuffed elephant or doll that you crochet is a toy.....just kidding. Its Saturday- I figure that you and Dh will just stay home (which probably makes you very happy) and crochet. Sounds like a good day to me...
Halloween is today. I did bag some candy (per wrapped) in sandwich bags to give to some neighborhood kids. And will hand out (outside, and I will wear gloves and a mask) candy to kids, if I get any. DD#1 is bringing the grandkids later, I think....
I was naughty and ordered some yarn, batting and thread on Joanns. Had a gift card and got free shipping. I need the thread and batting for the baby quilt and the yarn- gonna make another pocket shawl.

morning girls, Ruth maybe what your friend had was something similar to when they give me the si injections.the med they use for numbing is cold and stings. putting the needle in for the computer is like a very tiny pinch. after that you don't feel a thing.
I did find out from the pa the older we get the longer the injections can take to work. DON has a very high tolerance to pain.wish I DID.
my pa told me to try the purple gypsy sit upon cushion. it is like a egg carton.
so I ordered it from keepsake quilting yesterday.
you want to look it up you have to type in gypsy sit upon cushion. you can also google it.
I am not giving out candy tonight.we get so few kids anymore. I had Don take a card over to Jeana's. put $10.00 for each Lizzie and Hannah. Told them they could treat themselves to MCD;S course they can spend it like the CARRIE is taking Hannah to grandparents.Lizzie is living with them while going to tech school.they are 4 hours from here.
I heard years ago if you don't use use ups,uspo,fed-ex boxes they will charge you more.a couple of months ago what I sent to Rochester ,MN cost me $25.00 to go ground fed0ex. to my Ky family 22.00.
well Rochester got the box the next day. took over a week for the Ky one.
PART was my fault..I went in on a Thursday.. told her there by Friday. not thinking she would do the next day.I meant Friday of The next week.lesson learned. so make sure they understand what day you want.
Ruth as kids get older they like money. that way they can shop with their friends and buy want they want and have fun at it.
course I have no idea how shopping is for kids with all the stores closing. alot o them do order online.
Did you see where HELEN posted over a week ago DORIS is in rehab she went from the hospital her memory was really bad one day.. a few days ago she was really confused, MJ is going to call the senior protection service people.
we have lost our friend as we know her.so very sad.PHYL

Phyl, what my friend had was called denervation where they sitck a long needle into the buttock and can tell if they've hit the nerve they want to deaden if you really scream because it hurts so much. They can probably deaden the skin but that doesn't help much when a big needle hits a major nerve. And sometimes the denervation doesnt work or doesn't last long so she had to have that done quite a few times. And I did see the post about Doris and saw that one of the employees at the rehab facility told the daughter that all of Doris' cognitive abilities are intact. The daughter didn't agree and said that Doris was frightened and didn't know where she was. Moving elderly people around like that is not a good thing to do. They need to have stability.I'll look up that cushion
No kids have come here for Halloween for at least 15 years. The houses are just too far apart. Even the kids that live here and I don't think there are many anymore, go somewhere where the houses are closer so they can get more candy faster.
Ginny, I was bad too and ordered. Michael's was having a 20% off everything even sale items so I ordered the yarn that I'm using instead of the ombre from RH and of course I had to order enough to get free shipping. They had some colors I have been wanting so they hopped right into my virtual cart.

Phyl- so sorry that you have gotten bad news about Doris. Ruth is totally right- especially folks with cognitive impairment need stability so they can depend upon what they are seeing ane experiencing. Change is not a good thing, that is for sure. I gave out candy to 3 neighborhood kids tonight, plus my grandkids. That is it.....quiet night.
Ruth, so you were naughty also?? I was able to wrangle a free shipping deal at Joanns- and everything I wanted was on sale. Gee, that yarn hopped into your cart??? Well a sale is a sale and you do crochet a lot. Of course you had to order enough to get free shipping- I have done that at Joanns and Hobby lobby. Fortunately for me, Joanns gave either 20% off non sale items or free shipping and the free shipping deal was better for me. Glad you were able to find the yarn and the color you wanted. I guess lots of folks are knitting and crocheting- it appears as though many colors of yarn are hard to come by. (I saw that at Joanns). Once again, I miss AC Moore....but no sense crying over spilled milk.
Kind of achy- I probably messed myself up raking leaves. Saw the grandkids for a little while...they looked so cute.
Have a good night all G

Good morning!! Wish I could say I slept well- it was not a horrible night. Good that we got an extra hour of sleep so I could stay in bed a bit longer. Church this morning and then I am driving a friend of a friend (who has Parkinson’s ) to vote- he is driving to my house and then I will take him to the polling place. As his ability to walk is diminished, he is afraid with the crowded polling places that he will not be able to park close by. The parking attendant has assured me that they will let me pull right up to the door and he will get right in.

Hello Crafters Ginny - Hope you are feeling better today. I bet the grandkids were cute yesterday. Hope things went well with taking your friend to vote, that is really nice of you. Ruth - I'm glad you were able to order some yarns you wanted and can use. Phyl - Hope your appointment goes well tomorrow. Sue - Hope you are doing well. We had some rain here this morning, but it's sunny now. It's supposed to get really windy tonight and then tomorrow too. October sure seemed to go by quickly. I think I've worked out how to put my Rainbow Scrap Challenge quilt tops together - I have one tumbler one and one bowtie one to finish. I did finish the small Broken Dishes blocks top. I had to end up taking out one block from the bowtie quilt and the broken dishes quilts since I had 10 blocks for them and I just couldn't figure out a way to do a layout that worked. I'm still thinking about the sashing and borders for the Autumn Jubilee quilt. I really don't like scrappy quilts and because I've used different fabrics for backgrounds in the blocks I need something that will pull the rows together. I'll test out a few things before making a decision. I don't want to mess up this quilt since I love the rows and want it to look good. Hope everyone is doing well and that you all get to do some crafting today.

Here's a picture of my Broken Dishes quilt top. It was interesting using the small half square triangles to make this, but the blocks are bulky with so many seams. There are 39 different fabrics in this small piece. I had one other small dark blue block but it turned out smaller than all the rest, so I just pulled it out and used these nine.

CJ- well I think you did a great job putting the broken dishes quilt top together!! The clouds border and sashing really highlights the different fabrics used in each block. Yes I can see how the different fabrics and seams could be a challenge. The pinwheel blocks that I made for my BOM quilt were the same way, so many seams and so challenging to work on/press. Are you considering buying a new fabric for the Autumn Jubilee quilt? I remember how excited you were to have those pumpkin blocks and leaf blocks- and of course you want the perfect sashing and border. I’d search the internet if you did not have what you want at home....got total confidence in you that you will find the perfect fabric.
Yes, I got my friends friend to the polling place- he was very grateful that he was able to vote. This afternoon I pressed and cut the fabric for the second panel quilt. So now its all ready to put together. The quilting paper should be here tomorrow or Tuesday.
Hope everyone had a good weekend G
