Good morning and Happy Monday!
All crafters are welcome here as we discuss crafting, life and our weight loss journey. Crafting includes actual hands on crafting, such as crochetting, knitting, sewing, quilting, needlepoint, painting, jewelry making, etc.....plus reading craft catalogs, craft blogs, watching craft you tubes or other crafting videos, chatting here about crafting, chatting with another person about crafting, reading craft emails, thinking about crafting, organizing crafting supplies, going into craft stores or the craft aisle in a store , attending craft fairs,or any other activity that inspires or directs your mind toward a crafting activity- even visiting us here to join in our posts!! There are plenty of days in which the closest we get to crafting is a visit here, so even if you have no time to craft, we would love to hear from you. We welcome newcomers to our friendly discussion! So glad you are here!! Please feel free to stop in and say hello.

Luckily Lion Brand didn't have a color I wanted in their selection of 4 for $10 yarns. They had a bunch of yarns that I'd never use...tubuler they called it and some others I wasn't interested in but they had Ice cream big scoop which I would have ordered if they had included the color I wanted to get.

Joanns had the yarn I was looking at for $1.99 a skein. Had to pay shipping- but the yarn was at a door buster price- and my local Joanns was out of the color I wanted.....so I ordered it. Ruth, guess you were lucky that Lion brand did not have the colors you were interested in- you just placed an order from Michaels the other day. Did your Michaels order ship yet? Its insanely windy here. Some outdoor furniture got blown over - just a minor clean up. And while I had gotten a lot of the fall leaves cleaned up already, the big oak tree in the front yard is still dropping leaves....so I was going to wait for warmer weather to take care of them. Well, my leaves, along with everyone elses leaves blew somewhere!!! so a lot of cleanup does not have to happen now. Got Bible study tonight- not sure if I will be back later on. I did get to crochet a bit on the pocket shawl for a little bit. I will be glad when that is done. Looking forward to my new yarn and a new project. Also looking forward to this darned election to be over with! I went to the library and rented season 2 of Downton Abbey-so I can completely ignore the news for a few days. G

Hello Crafters Ruth - I guess it's a good thing you didn't order yarn? Ginny - That's a good price on the yarn, even with the shipping cost. I have the windy weather too, but fortunately no problems. I've had the leaves in my yard blow away too before I could rake them - it was great Hope you enjoy Downton Abbey Season 2, I loved the whole series. I stopped watching most news some time ago and just get my news mostly from headlines I read on the internet - then I read deeper if I want to. I've tried to stop reading about people being so anxious about the election tomorrow since it makes me anxious. I hope things don't drag on for days after tomorrow and I do worry some about protests, etc., so I want to be able to stay home after the election. It's just been a crazy year. Phyl - Hope the appointment today went well. Sue - Hope you are getting in some crafting. It was a pretty sunny day here, but cold and windy more like a winter day. But I got a lot of things done - did some business paperwork, starting working on decluttering my old bills and other paperwork too. I want to work on this throughout November and get my business papers a bit better organized. I also threw out some other things in the house since I need to continue decluttering everything in the house over the winter when it's cooler. Some things I threw out were my mother's but they weren't worth anything moneywise and they weren't things I'd take with me when/if I leave this house, so it's time to just get rid of them. It's just tough when I have to do that because it's like throwing away a memory of her. But she'd probably think I was crazy to have kept the stuff so long after she was gone I did some clearing in my sewing room too. I felt like the piles of things on my cutting table were closing in on me. I hope I can figure out the rest of the fabrics for the Autumn Jubilee quilt and then I can put away my stack of fall/autumn fabrics. I also have a stack of paper patterns to go through and organize. Maybe I can finally just have the Cozy Things quilt project out on my table. And I ordered some fabrics from Missouri Star, even though I said I wouldn't order from them again. The last order I did took over a month to get to me, but maybe things are a bit quicker this time. I did find some fabrics that I'd been looking to buy for awhile, so I was happy to get them. Hope you are all doing well and getting to do some crafting

CJ, I was reminded that "things" aren't the person who owned them but the person or people themselves will always be in your heart and your cherished memories.
It's warm here and a little breezy. It's to be in 70's almost all week according to wunderweather.
Yes the state of our country is a frightening thing. I know that if the president is re elected that there will be protests and more rioting, destruction and looting...anything as an excuse to steal things.
Ginny, that's an amazing price on yarn. I would have bought it too even if I didn't find the color I wanted. When I order things like that I usually order enough that the shipping fee doesn't raise each item by much. Some place, though, like Herrschnerr's raise the shipping as you add items. I like the companies that have a flat rate. Of course I like it even better when it's free. On the Lion 4 for $10 they never have free shipping but it's sometimes very worth it to pay the shipping.
I've been working on a hat I'd really love to make but I keep making the same mistake which is a post stitch after each section of other stitches. So I'm trying to talk myself into just making a different one but since I'm so stubborn I really want to be successful at this one. It's taking too much of my time though.

Phyl, Alex Baldwin said years ago that he would leave the country if Bush Jr won. He didn't either.Bush won, Alex stayed. I know you see a chiro and the pa but what was the one you saw today where you go back once a week? Dh just told me yesterday that he wouldn't go to PT if he had to go three times a week. I'm not sure where he got the idea he would have to do that.

Most of those “wonderful” folks who threaten to leave the country if this one or that one gets elected are nothing more than hot air balloons and the world would be better off if they kept their mouths shut. I do not care what your politics are, if you are a talented actor, musician whatever....that does not mean that those who admire and enjoy their talent also agree with their politics.
Phyl- sounds like you have a good action plan for gaining strength and function. I agree, appointments that early are challenging- I would not want one that early, but its great for someone who must get the appointment in before work. Hope your excercises do their job and strengthen the appropriate muscle!!
Ruth- not a big Alex Baldwin fan- so if he left it would not matter at all to me. Normally you end up prevailing over a challenging pattern and I figure you will do with this pattern also. Is this a donation hat or a gift hat? I love your choice to make really lovely hats for donation- so that even those who are not as well off can still have stylish hats. I suspect that there will be some pretty upset people no matter who wins the election. And its hard to believe that you are in the 70’s for weather. Weren’t we talking about snow last week?
CJ glad you got those bills done and the decluttering. It just feels so good and nice to know that you have gotten the paper tiger under control. Its tough to throw out stuff from previous generations...but unless those items bring comfort to you and you enjoy having them out or available, then its best to get rid of them I know how tough it is. I am still downsizing and getting rid of things from my mom. Hope that order from Missouri star comes quickly!! What did you order fabric for??? (Perhaps the Autumn Jubilee quilt?). I ordered from them in the spring and the order was here in about 10 days or less. But I ordered charm packs, requiring no cutting. I would think that now they are back to more normal handling and that maybe the order will be in your hands soon. Cannot wait to hear about your box of goodies.
Yup- watching Hallmark channel today...saw Home and Family this am. They have their set decorated for Christmas- and I think my artificial tree is going up this weekend. (. So now you all think I am nuts). The yarn??? Well by the time you added shipping and tax it came to $3.70 a skein- so still a good deal, got the color I wanted and I don’t have to drive anywhere to get it!!! I worked this am, and it looks like they want me in Thursday and Friday both am and pm. I really do not want to work that much- but once in a while guess it is ok. I have gone in many days and just been on standby. So this is a way to give back in a way....
Ok, time for me to start putting together the second panel quilt. Hope everyone gets some crafting in. (And I did already get a row or two done on the pocket shawl. Think I have less than 5 rows to go) G

Hello Crafters Phyl - I'm glad your appointment went well. Hope you are able to work on the upstairs today. Ruth - Hope you were able to figure out the hat pattern, or did you start another one? Ginny - Hope you can get the second panel quilt together. I bought a panel from MSQC with some coordinating fabric and some yardage of digitally printed fabric (saw free patterns to use these), and then 2 different fabrics by Laundry Baskets quilts for her Norway pattern, since I want to make that exact quilt with those 2 fabrics. Sue - Hope you are doing well. I went out today and took care of some banking business and also did some shopping (non-grocery). I went in 7 different places, sure hope I wasn't too exposed to the virus But I'm happy to have gotten these things done and now I'm pretty well stocked up on things, the car is full of gas, and my banking will be easier in the future. I just wanted to get out before the election stuff happens, but hopefully things won't be bad. I don't care for those actors/famous people who say they will leave the country based on who is the President - they never leave because they know this is a great country to live in! And Canada probably doesn't want them anyway And it's such entitlement to be able to say you'd just up and move out of the country, when many people can barely afford to live. Many shows/movies have been spoiled for me once I've heard the views of some of the actors, etc. It's too bad that can't just do their jobs and keep their opinions to themselves. I hope I can get back to some quilting the rest of the week, since I don't have to go out anymore. I need to catch up with the Cozy Things quilt, I don't want to get too behind. Take care everyone!

Ginny, you're a very perceptive person so I know that you also know that I don't care for Alex Baldwin at all either. And who cares what Michael Moore things.
Yes there will be people on both sides who are unhappy about the results of the election.I'm already unhappy with what I've seen so far but I'm not going to go out and protest or riot.
Haven't done much in the way of crafting today except to try to find a pattern on my bookmarks list. It seems to have disappeared. It's not actually a pattern but several patterns as the whole category seems to have disappeard. yes I did finally get that pattern I mentioned for that hat. I wasn't able to just sit it down and forget it after all. I felt I needed to actually get it done and maybe use it again. It's for donation.I actually have quite a few hats ready to take but with the cases of virus exploding as it is I probably won't go out any time soon to donate them. It's ok though because our winters are LONG and people will need new hats before it's over and will maybe be cheered up when they receive one.

Now this is silly- I refreshed the page, and Ruth and CJ’s posts were not on the IPAd.....
Ruth, well the way I see things- these entertainers just should stick with entertaining and stay out of politics. I become super frustrated when attending a concert (of course have not done that in a while!!!) and the performer seems intent on making his/her political statement. So Mr Baldwin, Moore and a very long list of performers just need to be quiet....even those whose politics I agree with. Had the feeling that you would want to try to master that hat pattern. Got total confidence in you.
CJ- I am in total agreement with you- that entertainment can be ruined finding out about the political leaning of the entertainer. I watch shows most of the time to get away from it all- not get dragged into their political views. One thing I really love about this thread is that we stay pretty much apolitical. There was a thread on this board about the Covid outbreak, that in the beginning seemed ok to post on until the mud slinging started. Then I would check in (and not post) just to see how bad it got (and it became a very negative place). Think it died an ugly death..... I did go on MSQ site this am (I do almost every day to check out the daily deal!).. did you get the royal blue collection??? So really glad that you bought the entire collection needed- along with the pattern. You will be ready to make the exact quilt you want when you are ready to do so!! I am excited for you for sure. Glad you do not have to go out anymore this week....now you can stay home and quilt.
Today is senior day at the store...gonna head there and get what is on my list. Dd #2 and her Dh are coming over for dinner tonight.
Have a great day Ginny
