Phyl, so are you going to PT AND the chiro? You back should be feeling good soon. I need to go thru my paper work again but I think it's mostly cleared out.I like to do it at this time of year because then I can burn it all in my woodstove CJ you do pick out the most beautiful fabrics so I know the panel and fabric to go along with it is also beautiful
Ginny, you're right, actors and other entertainers and also athletes should stick to what they're supposed to be doing not getting into sharing their political views and acting like we all should follow that they say. It sounds like you're almost done with your pocketshawl. I think you said you're going to make another. ARe you going to do the same one? And what yarn did you get for it? There are so many free patterns for pocket shawls on youtube. There's a really nice and easy one on a video by Natazia. I don't really care for her but that video is good. I have that one on my list to make as one of the Christmas gifts. Also the pocket on hers is just the ends turned up then you crochet a border around the whole thing which acts as a seam for the pockets as well. Sewing on the pockets is the worst part of making one of these shawls. Also, since they are only long rectangles, you could use any stitch you like. You could even use the same stitch you used for your baby blankets.
I started my sil's blanket that will be a gift for Christmas. If I finish it this week I'll be a week ahead on my schedule for gifts. It's an easy pattern and not really a pattern at all. It's just using one version of a brick stitch and can be made, then, however long and wide the person making it wants it to be.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today We've had really nice weather here, it's going to be around 70 and clear for several days. I finished piecing the two Rainbow Scrap Challenge quilt tops - one is the hourglass blocks and the other is bowtie blocks. I put a small border around the hourglass top and I think I'll stop there. I didn't put any border around the bowtie one and think I might leave it like that. Both of these quilts are square shaped rather than rectangular but it's difficult to find border fabrics that work when there are so many different colors and fabrics in the quilt top. I also cut my sashing and inner border fabric for the Autumn Jubilee quilt and I hope to get those sewn on soon. I think I know what fabric I want for the outer border too, so I hope I can get this one done. I'm thinking about dropping out of the Cozy Things quilt along, but I'm not sure. I really do love the layout of this quilt and I was thinking that of the 9 blocks in the quilt I might make one large square of my focus fabric for 4 of the blocks, that would leave me with only 5 blocks to fill in. So I might only make 5 of the 9 patterns and use them. Ginny - You asked about some of the fabric I ordered from MSQC. Here's a link to the quilt that I want to make using the same 2 fabrics the designer did: www.missouriquiltco.com/vendor-patterns/430www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYvGTKjZuCk - here's a video of the designer making this quilt Hope all of you are getting some crafting done - take care and have a good day!

Phyl- mums are just so pretty! I remember falling in love with them in High School when the Marching band (I was a member) sold fall mum corsages for the Thanksgiving football game as a fund raiser. They scream fall to me- and I do love fall. Sounds like you have a good conservative treatment protocol set up- I will be praying that you improve enough that you do not have to go as much and are more comfortable. You will get to that paperwork sooner or later- and its a challenge to concentrate on stuff like that when you are in pain.
Ruth-.what kind of afghan are you making for your SIL and what color is it going to be?? Do you have the yarn for it already or is that in the big yarn order that you placed a few days ago at Michaels? You do find the nicest patterns....and I know are comfortable learning from a video. Lots of times videos frustrate me- I like written directions better, but of course its all individual choice. I thought that the directions to sew on the pockets to the pocket shawl I made were not too awful. Just a few more rows and then I will be on the pockets.
CJ- that pattern is exactly what I though you were going to make- and the teal and white fabrics are striking- its such a pretty quilt!!! Cannot wait for your fabrics to arrive....and to hear that you are happily quilting. The pattern seems to be reminiscent of an irish chain... very pretty too. The beauty of these online BOM or smaller projects is that there is no commitment to continue- as you well know for the Autumn Jubilee (If I were making it) I might have made stars (LOTS) and a row of pumpkins or leaves....perhaps not both. Regarding a border for the rainbow scrap challenge, one quilting buddy I have uses a lot of batiks- because they do tend to bring in different colors and make coordinating fabrics a bit less stressful. I just do not think either of us are batik types....you and I both seem to go more toward geometrics or natural patterns (leaves, flowers , etc.....). I remember helping Dd #1 find a good coordinating fabric for her rag quilt- it took a lot of hunting and searching but we found the perfect fabric at Joanns which tied in all the colors. Did not need much of it either to really make the quilt look like it was meant to be. (Her teacher had suggested a fabric which neither Dd nor I liked- until we found this awesome floral at Joanns.) But it took a lot of searching. Think I already sort of offered my opinion, but I think for the cozy things quilt you should take your favorite blocks and figure out what works best for you. This is not about doing anything more than you making something that you think is pretty. Cannot wait to see what layout you decide upon.
Today was, well interesting. I worked all day today (am and pm route) and will do so again tomorrow. A driver is out on 2 week quarantine (one of her students contracted covid). Of course that student is also out....and they needed a sub on that route. (The whole high school is closed for a week to facilitate contact tracing and testing). So I am filling in today and tomorrow. Its ok- kids are not bad, and I do actually enjoy the driving. Its not comfortable coming home though- just another new normal for me. (Funny I am ok if I am home by myself....but coming home at the end of the day is challenging). My mattress was supposed to be here tonight. Oh it got here ok- but the box spring had a small tear on it (which I noticed) and the brand new mattress in a sealed plastic wrapper was wet. Huh??? the delivery man discovered that it was wet, and very wet at that. So back the mattress and box spring went. In 48 hours I will know what the new status of the order will be....if the next date is too far out for me I will cancel the order and go to another store.I only ordered the mattress in August. So far they have given me free delivery (because of all the delays) and today offered me a free mattress cover, sheets or pillow. Its tiring....so frustrating. I did place two orders with Joanns for yarn- the first order had quilt batting and thread in it too. Not sure why but the second order arrived today- will have to see where the first order disappeared to. its a lovely medium grey shade (my $1.99 yarn) and I will be making a shrug that I found the pattern for on lion brands site.
Have a good night all. Hope Sue is doing ok. G

I agree with all Ginny said, CJ. Your choice of fabric is great and I know the final product will be beautiful
I like written patterns better myself and when using a video I write down what they say so that I don't have to keep starting and stopping the video. I'm glad they have settings to speed it up or slow it if needed.
The blanket I'm making sil is also more of a lapghan size or will be when I get done. It's one variation of brick stitch and I'm using lion pol in hunter green. It's very easy but can become boring too because it's so simple but that makes it fast to do also which is what I'm mainly going for.
We will have two more days of wonderful warm weather then we start winter. I love these 70 degree days
Ginny, I'm sorry about the snafus with your mattress. I'm glad they're doing some things to make up for all the delays and things going on like the tear and the wet mattress

LOVE POL in hunter green!!! I am sure your SIL will love it- that color is so rich and restful. Agreed, those easy patterns can be so repetitive, but is will go quickly because of the smaller size.

Yeah just got the word that I am not needed back at work until Thursday and Friday of next week. No problem there!!!! My second (technically first ) Joanns order arrived, and I do like this yarn- its very soft and I hope nice to work with. Now just have to finish the pocket shawl- which I got a few rows in on today.
Gotta regroup and will be back later. Ginny

I haven't heard a word about my Michael's order. Yes they say on their site that things will be slower but this is a little too slow. They did send me an email saying they received my order but nothing since
Giny, that's great to know in advance that they won't be needing you until Thurs. Now you can plan your time as you like

Ruth, so very sorry that you have not heard a word about your Michaels order. it was a big yarn order if I remember correctly, The other thing is you get most of your yarn via online ordering...have you had this trouble with them before? Guess I am not surprised that you did not get your order yet, but I am surprised that they have not communicated yet. I know with Joanns I got emails that the orders had shipped, but they lacked any information (I could not track the order even though they said I could). Does this order contain yarn that you need immediately? Can you trace the order within them or contact customer service??
Just so nice to sleep in today- having had to get up 4 days this past week to go to work. When I return to babysit DGD#2 and DGS#2 at the end of December I will have to get used to getting up a lot....but they are little only once and I do enjoy spending time with them
DD#2 will be here, but a little later on....gonna do some yard work this am, get my Bible study work in and probably pick up a handful of items from the store.
Schools here (many districts) are closed and virtual only. This seems to be a phenomenon mostly of the High schools of a covid spread- the result of irresponsible actions at Halloween parties. Got warm temps here for a few more days....gonna try to sneak in planting some grass seed in a small area.
BBL Ginny

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - I'm glad you can get a few days break from working, sounds like they need you a lot this year. Hope you enjoyed your time with your DD today. You mentioned using batiks, but I can't work with any of those hand dyed fabrics, since I'm allergic to the dyes. So I stick to the 100 percent cotton fabrics. I have the same problem with wool, I can't use wool yarn, it has to be acrylic. Ruth - I'm glad to hear you are having nice weather, we're having the same here. We need to enjoy it while we have it, right? I finished the top for the Autumn Jubilee quilt and I'm pretty happy with it. It turned out pretty large. I'll try to put up my design wall tomorrow and take a picture of it to share with you. It was fun to use my autumn fabrics and also to do a row quilt. There were a few rows that were not the same size so I'm not sure what caused that - maybe my 1/4 inch seams. But I was able to stretch them when I added the sashing and got them to line up. I have some clearing around to do in my sewing room now before I start on something else. I'm kind of tired of autumn and Christmas quilts right now and want to work on something completely different. I also have a table runner ready to pin so I can machine quilt it and I'd like to get that done. Hope everyone has a great weekend

CJ- well I was having a good time responding to your post and then the IPAd started acting up. I hear ya about getting weary working with autumn and Christmas colored fabrics. Hereโs hoping that your Missouri Star order shows up soon and you can get started on the Norway quilt! That will be so pretty and for sure a dramatic change in color scheme for you. So glad That you were able to ease the Sashing onto your rows and make the rows of your quilt fit. I know some people use a quarter inch quilting foot to help make consistent quarter inch seams, others put a piece of colored tape on the throat plate, and I even heard of one person who took a thin refrigerator magnet and taped that in the quarter-inch position and use that as a seam guide. No matter what it sounds like you made it work out just fine and Iโm glad! Looking forward to seeing pictures of the quilt up when you get a chance.
