Shut the IPad down and am back with it now....so much easier than posting using the phone. CJ- that is a shame that batiks irritate your skin as does real wool. Fortunately there are plenty of alternatives. Batiks are pretty - but my personal taste tends to go toward concise repetitive patterns for fabrics. Hope you got your sewing area cleared up as you wanted.
Got a nice walk in with Dd- and I went a little further with the yard work than original intent. (Will finish up on Monday). So I got a fair amount done and it was nice to straighten things up a bit in warmer weather. Of course now I a sore...but according to fitbit and WW app I earned 26 activity points.
Think I am going to read or watch something light on TV. Hope everyone is getting some crafting in G

Ginny, I'm glad to hear that your ipad is working well now. Those "gadgets" we all have are expensive so they need to last. I actually don't have an ipad or iphone and never use my phone for internet. In fact I rarely use it at all.It sounds like you got a lot of good exercise in and even if we don't lose weight from that we still get all the other health benefits and those benefits are numerous. CJ, I'm happy to hear you got that quilt done and were able to fix the ones that weren't quite as they should be.I' sure you are getting tired of Christmas and autumn fabrics. You've worked on them a lot and even though they are beautiful we do get tired working on the same things...hey how about possum yarn .I've heard of a lot of yarns but yesterday heard for the first time about possum yarn. It's from Austraila and a possum there is different from the ones in this country. I actually have some wool yarn but haven't used it because I make the majority of things for the grandchildren and both mothers machine wash everything without even thinking that there may be wool items mixed in. I've accidentally "felted" some nice things myself. Have you ever tried bamboo? I have some of that too but haven't used it either because I just have a little bit and don't even know what to make with it. Now that dgd#4 is having a baby maybe I'll make a baby hat but it's pink so it will have to be a boy and it's too early yet to know. It really hasn't been a busy day for me. I did a couple things but just didn't get here until now.

Ruth - we all have days like that in which not a lot got accomplished in the way of big projects but you still got things done. I have worked with wool ease, a wool blend yarn from lion brand. Its a pleasant yarn to work with and holds its shape well. Not sure why I only used it for one project....guess the availability of other really good yarns (POL, RHSS) in many different places has kept me using them. Never heard of possum yarn before. Sure sounds interesting though. Bamboo is an interesting fiber...gosh I have seen it used in floors, as a fabric for the top of a mattress, clothes and yarns... Think Bamboo might be great for a baby hat. (Just did some online snooping on it). They said that it holds shape well and actually has the ability to block ultraviolet light.
Got a few rows of crocheting in last night. Time to count rows again and see how close to the end I am to this pocket shawl. BBL G

Gonna have a tough time talking myself out of Missouri starโs daily deal ....combined with what I have here those fabrics would make an awesome scrappy quilt. So tempting.

Hello Crafters Ruth - There sure are a lot of different yarns aren't there? I think I'll stick with acrylic Ginny - Those fabrics sure are pretty in the daily deal - did you buy them? Phyl and Sue - Hope you are doing well. Another really pretty day here. I really should get outside more than I do. I heard several large explosions last night around midnight. If they were fireworks, they sure were loud. I finished clearing things off my table in my sewing room. I had a bunch of patterns I'd printed off the internet and some embroidery patterns, so I filed those away in my 3 ring binders that I keep them in. I also put a bunch of scraps away. I'm going to have to organize these scraps soon, they are getting out of control again. I'm hoping to get them cut into certain sizes like 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 inches, etc. and maybe for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge next year I would just use these strips for a quilt. I put up my design wall but had a tough time doing it, it's large 72x72 inches so it's tough to wrangle it around. Then the quilt I put on it to take a picture of, kept falling off. I finally laid on the floor and took a picture and then taped the quilt top to the design wall and propped it up - what a pain But now I can share a picture of my finished Autumn Jubilee quilt top. I'm pleased with it. I had thought to use the orange tree fabric as the outer border, but then I realized it would make the quilt just too orange - so I went with the dark fabric and I think that frames it nicely. The quilt top finished at 56x65 inches. Hope you all have a great day and get in some crafting.

CJ, that fabric is absolutely perfect for that quilt!! I can't think of enough descriptive words to use for that. It's just so beautiful!!
Loud explosions...now that's frightening. I'll be glad when you live in a safer area.
Ginny, did you measure to find how long you need the pocket shawl or are you following what the pattern says. I didn't really know how long to make the ones that I made but they say to make them the same length as the person is tall. I don't think that's really crucial though but a lot of people are saying they want it so that the pockets will be placed where they can put their hands in it comfortably and that the pockets should be where your hands when hanging at your sides will be right over the pockets. As I said, I don't think that's really something that is essential
I put in my tracking numbers for the packages I mailed a week ago yesterday and it said they were delivered. So I asked my ds so that I could be sure. Well he said that they hadn't arrived yet. So of course I mildly panicked but then went to the USPS site and checked and sure enough they say they are delayed. Same with my Michael's order. They haven't even sent an email saying my order has been shipped. I'm not sure how Michael's ships...by USPS, UPS, or FedEx. I'll contact them tomorrow if I don't hear anything.

CJ- that quilt top is absolutely magnificent!!! I totally agree, the border fabric is perfect and sets off the other colors. You have some tonal beiges in the quilt that also set the other fabrics up well- funny how a minor player fabric like that can make all the difference in the world. Now the big question is, will you quilt this yourself or take it to a long armer? Great job!!!! Its so pretty and I am so happy for you.
Ruth, Have not gotten that far yet, but I am approaching that point where I will be figuring out how much longer to make the pocket shawl....I will most likely use her row count. Its a nice pattern for sure. That sure is odd about the USPS and your packages...but shipping seems to be a bit messed up yet. Hope that they get the packages to Ds and his family soon. Wonder with all the hoopla over mailed ballots if that delayed the packages?? Joans told me the yarn would be shipped Fed Ex- and gave me tracking numbers which never worked. But both packages got here fine and eventually the tracking numbers worked. good luck with Michaels... the internet says Michaels uses UPS....and I have seen the same issue with them- they tell you the package has shipped but it cannot be located in the system.frequently they print the label but it sits for a day or so before the package actually moves.
I went to order that really pretty fabric and it was sold out. Oh well.... Got some more work done on the panel quilt (the second one). Another half hour of sewing and the second one will be ready to sandwich. As its late in the day I will crochet now. See ya tomorrow. G

Ginny, well I guess the saying "you snooze you lose" is true. I'm sorry you missed out on the fabric that is so pretty. Same thing happened the other day to my dh.. He was going to order an air fryer but said he would order later in the day. He went back and it was out of stock. I found a really beautiful pattern today for a pocket shawl...just what I need, right, another pattern. But the finished product was posted by someone in a crochet group and I definitely need to make this one. Here's the link www.meladorascreations.com/star-fish-pocket-shawl-free-crochet-pattern/?fbclid=IwAR22Bq1tERieVw1MmbUo06VvNk5UUvlCfoV76eFHNiBxu49Q1ow6woK-xvAand actually the one posted by someone in the crochet group...one she made herself...is much prettier than the original one on this site. I think it's because it's pretty wrinkled looking on the pattern site itself
