Good morning fellow crafters!!
Ruth, I can see why you like that new pattern for another pocket shawl-its really pretty and I love how the design goes all through the shawl- of course with the exception of the border. Sorry Dh missed out on the air fryer. Ds has one and they are a lot of fun. Of course with “Black Friday” deals coming, I am sure Dh will be able to find a good deal on an air fryer.
Oddly enough last night I bought an air fryer cookbook for Ds, and one for my friend for Christmas. (Got a free shipping deal).
This am I am heading up to Hobby Lobby with my friend. Hope to quilt later on G

I heard yesterday that Alex Trebek had died. I didn't think he would have this long after his diagnosis. I guess next is Rush Limbaugh. As far as Jeopardy goes, I never get to see it because we don't have locals on our tv package and our antenna doesn't get NBC. Used to be they had it on here on what changed into a ABC channel.
After all those nice days high today will be only in 20's. There's white stuff on the ground and it's not manna.
Got in some crocheting time last evening but this lapghan is taking longer than I thought...well only because I haven't concentrated on getting it done. I took two days off and made hats instead.
I hope you all have a good week.

Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune are the only TV shows we both enjoy. Alex Trebek is one of a kind. It's difficult to imagine anyone else as the host. The last show will be on Christmas Day, and it was filmed about two weeks ago.
It's cold and sunny today. There was about a foot of snow on the back deck, but it's been settling. High today will be 29.

hello Crafters Ruth and Sue - I guess the cold and snow is kind of normal for November for you - hope you still get some milder weather before winter. Phyl - I hope you can get things worked out at the cemetery. I know how helpful it has been when family members had these details taken care of before they passed away. It's so tough on family doing all of it when a family member has died and everything has to be done. Thanks for your comments on my quilt Ginny - Did you find anything at Hobby Lobby? It's another nice day here, and I think tomorrow is supposed to be too. Then we might have 2 days of rain. One of my neighbors stopped by this morning and was asking me if I could see about cutting some tree limbs that are hanging over the fence between our yards since they are over the roof of her shed. She just had the roof replaced and is concerned about problems. So I called a company I've used before and I'm waiting to see when they can stop by for an estimate. This is a tree line that my father planted in front of a fence he put up at the back part of our property. Most of the trees are leland cypress but there is an oak that grew up in them. The bottom of the trees are pretty stragley but the tops of some are nice. I'm tempted to just have them all cut down, but I want to see what the tree company says. I've read that it's not that good for the trees to just top they off, but that's what I'd really like to do - just cut them down about half way since they are very tall. But then there isn't much left, so I might as well take it all the way down. I hate decisions like this I'm sure the tree company will have some thoughts. I think while they are here I'll get a separate estimate for the two dead trees in my yard. I'm still waiting for my lawn guy to come by and cut them down. I don't want to bypass him because he is a really good guy and I know it would hurt him if I did that, but if he hasn't come by early December then since I would already have an estimate for the tree company I could call to have them do it. Another decision thing I don't like to deal with I did some hand quilting on a small wholecloth piece I've been working on for a few years. It's about 18x18 and was pre-printed with a design for me to quilt over. I'd like to get this one done by the end of the year if I could. Hope all of you are doing well and getting to do some crafting. Take care

CJ- first off I hope that you hear from the tree company and also your lawn guy. It would sure be nice to give your regular landscaper some of the work- and I would bet that he might be a bit less expensive than a tree service. Also it might be good for him to have another job for you as the need for a lawn service goes away really soon. Hope you were able to get as much done on the whole cloth piece as you wanted to. It sounds like a nice end of the year project and surely is different than what you have been working on. Its nice to shake things up and do something different sometimes.
Sue, as it was unseasonably warm here today, its sure a shock to hear that you had snow and cold temps. Totally agree, its impossible to imagine anyone taking Alex Trebec’s place and it does make you wonder how the show will fare without him. Hope you are staying warm....are you quilting or crocheting these days?
Ruth, Rush made a huge impact on me- I listened to him almost daily for a long time- and he kept me laughing when the political situation was absolutely not to my liking. What a talented person and a bright man.Actually both men will be missed sorely. Glad its not manna on the ground as manna rots and gets smelly if it lasts a second day.. That is too bad that the lapghan is taking so long- longer than you anticipated.
Phyl- whatever you decide, you are saving your family some heartache at a difficult time, by making final arrangements for you and Don. Its not a pleasant time for sure, but knowing what the will of a loved one was does help. Dh and I had discussed what we wanted....honestly if it was just up to me I would be cremated and have my ashes scattered in the Adirondack mountains-but Dh never liked not traditional arrangements like that so I decided to have him in the county Veterans cemetary. Its easier on the kids too. Love the idea of a charity quilt table and I am glad you will be able to help out with it. What a nice thing.
Got votive candles and a nice Snowman pillow at Hobby Lobby.....and I called Missouri star to find out if they will ever restock that pretty fabric I missed out on. And they told me they would sell me the fabric at yesterdays price! Yippee!!! Got some work on the panel quilt. Ginny

CJ, It sounds as if your neighbor asked you to do that in a kind way. I'm glad to hear that. I'm glad you're having nice weather too. Yes Sue and I both have cold but we didn't get anywhere near the amount of snow that Sue got. I hope the hand quilting goes well. It sounds as if you're catching up on things you've been wanting to do
Ginny, I'm so glad they offered to sell you the fabric at the sale price. It must be beautiful. I was going to go look at it on their site but forgot. And it sounds like you got some nice things at Hobby Lobby. I wish we had one on this side of town.
My ds and his family received one of the boxes today so the kids talked them into letting them open it. It was so funny....my dil sent a video of the youngest one who is two opening the dino I made. He hugged, hugged and then hugged it some more and then...oops, toss aside to open the next gift. The other little boy who just turned 7 loved the sword and shield I made him and the dgd who's birthday is actually today did get her pocket shawl and loves it.

Ruth, so glad that one of those boxes arrived OK! And what a heartwarming story that your grandson loved the Dino so much and gave her a big hug. It’s always nice to know that your Handmade gifts are appreciated.

Today the second box arrived at my ds' house so I got to see more pictures. This one had the Viking hats in it and they had pictures of ds and the boys wearing those. It was so cute. And there was a picture of my youngest grandaughter opening her camera. You should see the expression on her face. She obviously was thrilled. and she had on the pocket shawl I made her which I made from that same pattern you're using Ginny. I guess I forgot how pretty it was because it looked beautiful on her. Yesterday the other dgd had on hers which was the gray tone one. Dh remarked again on how much he liked it but I actually like the other one better. The other grandaughter that I sent the other tonal grey one to must be at work or school because there was no picture of her in her shawl.Anyway I'll be using that same pattern for one of the ones for dgd's here. They loved the cowls too and ddil said they are watching a video on all the different ways to wear the cowls
This morning I worked on sil's lapblanket which I think it pretty large for a lap blanket but all the charts say they should be even bigger than this. I never saw a lap blanket as big as those charts say to make them. I have it all done except for the last border row. As I mentioned the blanket is hunter green so the border I did one row of sc, one of hdc in the back loop, then a row of antique white in hdc in back loop and this last row will be the same stitch in hunter green and it will be done after I weave in ends.

Ruth, the lap blanket (no matter how large it is!!) really must be pretty with the contrast between the hunger green and the antique white. Glad you got to work on it....and it does sound like it is almost done!!! Finally!! The second package arrived at Ds’s home and the kids got everything- all those adorable, and lovingly made gifts. We all remember you sweating it out over the Viking hats and it must have felt awfully good for you to see the grandsons wearing those. I can imagine the look on Gdg’s sweet face to know that her grandma remembered she wanted a camera so badly and got one for her. What color pocket shawl did she get??? That is a great pattern you found for pocket shawls- and yes in a large or a small size it is so pretty.
Let’s see....did some yard work this am- and worked toward putting away everything (outside furniture) away for the winter. I also scrubbed my outdoor rug and will roll it up tomorrow...its almost dry. Ds and I worked on the leaves too- still got some to mulch but its getting better. Also got a few more minutes in on the panel quilt (the second one) which is almost ready to be part of a quilt sand which and quilted. Went out to dinner this evening with two women from my church- had a nice time. Found out that the one womans son actually looked at the apartment that Dd and DSIL#2 were living in- and the sheister landlord (who is still not returning DD’s security deposit- gee its only been 6 months) also tried to swindle a rent security out of my friends son. guess that is just this landlord...just a dishonest bloke. Little does he know, Dd and DSIL are completing the paperwork to take him to small claims court....and they have everything very well documented.
Hope everyone has a good night. Ginny

Ginny, you sure get a lot of exercise between your walks and your yard work. I'm not at all that ambitious. Most of my steps come from walking up and down my stairs. I'm glad your dd and sil are going to take that landlord to small claims court and I do hope they prevail. Years ago we lived in various apartments. Every year the landlords would raise the rent so we would move. Most found excuses for keeping our deposit. Those excuses would never have held up in court but we didn't pursue it. Back then they didn't ask for much of a deposit. Now they make you give at least a whole months rent and sometimes more. When we first came here we lived in an rental while our house back in NY was being sold. The landlord apologized for asking for a very small security deposit and said it was because the previous tenant who had lived there for years left it in a mess and he had to redo everything. Well we had told him that we would be buying a house after ours sold so 5 months later we bought a house and moved. I told the landlord's wife that they should keep the deposit to make up for us moving so suddenly and she adamantly said she would certainly not keep our money because they never had a person renting that left the place so clean. They were very nice people.I even asked him if we could have a 220 line installed so that we could use our dryer and he immediately got on the phone to an electrician and got him to go over and put one in and he insisted on paying himself. They even offered to pick us up on Sundays to take us to church with them.
Well you probably didn't really want to hear all that but I like to blab.
I got another row done on the border of the blanket but started one more. I think it will be better with this last row. The antique white really added to it. It looks nice with the antique white between those rows of green.
Ginny, you'll have that second quilt done in no time.
CJ, I hope you had a good day and also Sue and Phyl

Good morning! Ruth I enjoy reading your blabbing.....think we are all trying to share in each other’s lives and have some sort of conversation in a virtual manner. And its nice to hear that you also had issues with landlords not returning deposits. Like you, when I rented, I returned the apartment to the landlord in excellent condition. It even extended to when my mom moved out of her assisted living apartment (because she was moved to a nursing home). Dh, Ds and I spent the day packing up her furniture and personal items then I returned to vacuum and take out the trash. I bumped into the maintenance staff as I rode the elevator down to the dumpster and they commented that almost no one cleans the apartment before they leave. I always thought that was the right and decent thing to do. Your landlord in your present area (years ago!) sure was nice....and seriously did not seem out to get you or take your money. Does not surprise me at all that adding another row of border to the lapghan really makes a statement. Because there is a dramatic difference in color between the border and the body of the lapghan the second row must make a lovely statement.
I do try to get a walk and or some activity in every day- even if that is vacuuming....been that way for most of my life. I will sneak in a walk this am before the rain. There is also a chance that Dd #1 comes over this am, and if so, I will see if she wants to walk. Not sure if that will work out as we are in for rain starting early afternoon.
I will get back to the panel quilts, now that I have the quilting paper- which I have started to take a look at- I can think about finishing it. Right now I have to make a decision if I want to use the varietgated sulky for the top stitch or just plain red thread. Maybe I will post pics of both in demo stitches and see what you think. Just yesterday Dd was mentioning that she needed more Christmas decor- little does she know that she will have the panel quilt in a few weeks.
Ok- just got a text from Dd- she will be here soon. Gotta get a shower in. Ginny

Well we just got home from doing a pickup order from Walmart. Dh says he doesnt intend to go out now until after the first of the year. He says something similar almost every time we go out even when we're not in the midst of a global pandemic but then the next week he thinks of something we need to go and get so we'll see
It's cold today and a little windy but not too bad.
I'm resting right now then will go up and do some kitchen cleaning and maybe cooking although I think we have things we could eat for today so maybe not the cooking.
I did get sil's blanket completely done last night and then got dgs' blanket out to weave in ends. There were a lot of them on his blanket. I started another pocket shawl last night but am revising the pattern so that I can fold up the ends to make pockets then put on a border to make it wider and also use the border to close the pocket edges.I had just started to work on that when dh got up so I set it aside until we got back home and got the things I mentioned above done but I think I'll work on it a little now while I'm resting.
See you all later
