Short and sweet goddesses is a thread especially for us "Short n' Petite Gals". As "Short n' Petites", we have our own issues. Our goals are lower, and as we all know, a 5-pound loss or gain can make a huge difference on a Short n' Petite. We are here to support and encourage one another, so please feel free to join us!

Hi!
Still congested and sneezing/coughing - it's working it's way out of my body, hopefully. Weight still at 120.
Holly, is your brother going to be prepping? cooking? Is it a good restaurant? It is such a hard life, I asked the sous chef that I worked for (she's in her 30's and had worked at good restaurants in San Fran), what she pictured her life 5 yrs from now and she said somewhere in upstate NY, on a farm, growing vegetables, cooking. She said that this was a "soul sucking" business.
Thanks for starting the April thread!
Jojo, I hope your headache is gone by now. So true about the playdate not babysitting, that is how it was when I used to "babysit" my nephews, I would spend the entire time playing with them, no wonder I was always exhausted afterwards.
Joan, there was a Bon Apetite recipe for pork tenderloin with caramelized shallot and fennel sauce that I love. I used to make it a lot. The sauce can be lightened up, the shallot/fennel is so good and can be used to go with other meats as well.
Need to go out and do some errands this afternoon.

This day had exhausted me. Not feeling so great anyway. t This morning through the afternoon looked at riding mowers and firepits. Decided not to get the firepit now - the selection was sketchy since they consider them off season. We have a John Deer Riding Mower arriving next Wed. Excited about that. Got a free $200 cart that can be pulled with the mower. Will be great for moving my big pots of flowers and such. Must clear out an area in the garage for it. Have plenty of room with the 2 cars but have to do some moving around. Also shopped for planters and potting soil, ceiling tiles that needed replacing downstairs, spray paint and #'s for the mamilbox, spraypaint for a drum table for outside that is faded, and a/c filters! Then tonight shopped at whole foods after cleaning out the fridge and finding that I have nothing. I have one more day of anitbiotics and I think that they are what is making me feel so bad. He has me on a very high dose, 500mg 4x per day. Usually 250mg 4x/day, or 500mg 2x/day is plenty for someone my size but I didn't question him. I have not ever taken that much before. I think when I can finish them up I will feel better. Sue - hope your dinner plans will be delayed to Wed. when hopefully you will feel better. Joan - just realized that I didn't get the recipe ingredients . Also forgot to buy some gardening gloves. All the ones that I have do have wholes in them. Alwys something I forget.

Hi all,
So excited that UNC won last night. It has been fun this year talking basketball with a couple of my coworkers, including the one I mentioned here before. Also got to catch up with my three best friends from college. Funny how we can text each other out of the blue no matter how much time has passed and pick up where we left off.
I went to my parents' last night for dinner. We had steak with sweet potatoes, as well as sauteed asparagus and mushrooms.
Sue, hope the cold is better today. He's working as a server, and will be there from April through November when everything shuts down for the winter. I think he wants to do something farm to table related eventually. Who knows. He's already talking about his next big travel adventure.

Hi!
Bright sunny day here after 3 days of dreariness and rain. SO is out on the balcony reading without a shirt on.
Took nyquil last night so got better sleep than the night before. I think I'm well enough for dinner with my friends tonight. They will stop by here and look at SO's new paintings then we'll walk to the restaurant. It is where I interned, hope to see some of the people I worked with there. I worked with the daytime crew, but sometimes they help out the night crew.
Holly, nice that you and friends/colleagues can reconnect with basketball. You all are experiencing what we experienced here last year with Villanova. Sounds like you and that colleague from work are finding more and more in common!
Jojo, wow you did a lot yesterday. Hope you can relax a little today. Is this the same Dr. that prescribed the lower doses before?
Yesterday I did some errands, went to drugstore to get a lock for luggage. We are checking in 1 bag. I think this is the longest trip we've ever been on almost 4 weeks. The longest before was 3 weeks in Bali.
Also went to the eyeglass store that's right next to my gym and got sunglasses with prescription for reading. Have not done any reading outside in the sun in years. Can't believe how much it costs - over 500 - and it's just one lens and not even progressive. I decided that these would just be for reading, at home I only use my reading glasses for reading and on the computer, and the progressive glasses I use only when I drive.
Joan, how did your dinner turn out?

Happy Sunday everyone! Dinner turned out great---had DS grill the pork--15 minutes--it was perfect and fork tender---everyone loves that recipe so we have about 3/4 of one left---I made 4. The veggies roasted on the silpat and holy pan are so good---did then for about an hour at 400---everything carmelized a bit---DS brought me a butternut sq.from their garden last year---OMG, it was so sweet you almost could not tell it from the sweet potato chunks! I didn't even do the asparagus as I had so many veggies and made a large salad. I threw some fresh blueberries into a TJ's berry scone mix and made scones for dessert with small chunks of honeydew and my lemon curd---the kids and DS and his SO had never had lemon curd and loved it. If you've never made that berry scone mix--try it---it's great--just add water but I always put in fresh berries. DD couldn't believe it---she loves blueberry scones and I didn't even know it. We sat around the table telling stories of raising the four kids--esp.the boys since DS was here---I think DGS's got a kick out of listening.
DS asked DGS16 to go climbing out at REdRock today--so he and SO took DGS and a friend out at 8 for the day--kind of sad he took a friend cause DS wanted a bit of time to speak to him about things. But still, it will be really good for him---DS and SO are seasoned climbers and will teach him a lot. He tried to get out of going but for a change DD stuck to it and said he had to---DS doesn't know that---this is a problem with DGS16---he doesn't want to do what he can't be best at cause he's so accustomed to being best---I think DD would have let him get out of it had it not been DS, her step brother, because she knows he would have been personally offended after all the trouble he and his SO went to get down here and bring all the gear. So often DD gives in---I think it's part of the issue with the boys--she enables a lot.
Making halibut for the four of us tonight. My weight is up 2 # of the 4 I had dropped---yuck---just cooking and providing dessert---not easy for me! WE did hike for 2 hours at RedRock yesterday so I at least had some exercise. Just now I trimmed all the dead off the front lantana, gtrimmed the multitrunk palm and pulled weeds and trimmed the ponytail ferns dead fronds. Lots of forward bends!
DH is cleaning off the patio after our major windstorm---maybe we will be able to eat outside tonight!
JoAnne, I hope you are feeling better today! I know you enjoy going to movies so you must have felt pretty bad.
Holly, last night when I heard about the final four games, I knew you would be happy---even said that to DH. I have good memories of the year UNLV won and beating Duke and Georgetown was so exciting---could hardly contain ourselves. I have not watched a single game but will try to catch the final game since I know someone who cares about it! A lot of kids from my school in Montana went to college at Gonzaga (well, in classes of 25, I guess you couldn't say a lot but every year someone did!).
Sunny and warm here.
DS brings his dog, Dizz--Tanzi is so funny---hasn't seen her in a year but knew her right away and immediately wanted to be friends---Dizz was a little uncertain at first and then seemed to realize she was in friendly territory---she's a lot bigger than Tanzi but Tanzi likes big dogs better than small ones. Sidney is happier when Dizz is not here---he's just more timid around dogs.

Good day all. Joan yes I am feeling sooo much better today! Thanks. I think having finished all the melds helped.
Sue - the dentist in Houston prescribed the antibiotic - the only one I had - it was for 10 days
Holly - congrats on the UNC win.
Raining cats and dogs here today.
Got a place cleared out in the garage for the John Deer!
Need to do some potting of plants that I have.
With all the rain, glad that I have not cleaned up the yard yet.
Wt stable at 123. Exercises done.

Hi!
Feeling better this morning, not as much coughing as yesterday and I didn't even take Nyquil last night. Weight at 120.6 after last night's dinner.
We had a good time, I saw both my sous chefs there and hugged them, one of them gave me a little gift. She went to the restaurant on her day off for my last day, but got there too late to see me to give it to me. So sweet! She got me a little moleskin notebook. I'm going to start using it. And of course, got an extra scallop crudo dish last night, served by the night time sous chef and 3 desserts served by the dessert chef. Owner/college classmate was there and stopped by to say hi. Just really nice to see everyone.
Joan, SO loves scones, I'll have to try the TJs mix. He has bought some mixes online where you just add water too. The last one I made was coconut. How did the rock climbing go for DGS16?
Jojo, you are doing well staying at 123! I remember when you were struggling to get below 127.
Today I'm going through more clothes. I went through a lot of my dresses yesterday and have 2 bags filled. Will go through some more. I can't believe that my breasts got bigger, does this happen during or post menopause? I noticed it a year ago or so but yesterday trying on these old dresses really made me see the difference.

Hi all,
It's going to be a late night tonight. I hope we can pull off a win.
Sue, sounds like you had a nice evening.
JoJo, congrats on the weight.
Joan, hope the hike went well. It's funny how animals can help such unique reactions to each other.

Big exercise morning--sculpt (which was harder today but really good), hour walk, and then dance. We took DS and DD and their SO's out to lunch---place I love to go with yoga friends---locally owned with a really good chef---I had lump crab lettuce cups with grapefruit---OMg, it was delicious. DH had never wanted to go there but I talked him into my usual order and he loved it. It was so nice---just adults, no heavy talk, just enjoyed it and the weather was perfect for eating outside so DH could hear everything. We are taking DGS's out to dinner so DD can have one dinner out with her friend before he heads back home to Florida tomorrow. He does seem like a really nice man---got to know him a bit this time.
Had a manicure so nails look good again! Tomorrow I do yoga and then head out to get my haircut---the long drive again.
Sue when I make the scones, I sprinkle just a bit of sugar on top before baking---and I bake the minimum time as I like them to hold some moisture.
JoAnne you've held your weight down so well---I just have to get back out of the stress eating as the blood test on June 3 will not show good results if I keep snacking like the past few days! Had been doing so well.
So DH will want to watch this game---is it tonight Holly? If so, our dinner out will be brief! DGS16 is having bad stomach cramps from the Zoloft so DD called and got an appt. to see the psychiatrist this Friday instead of next week---he is only one who can change meds--it's making it hard for him to eat and he's six feet or more and skinny so not good to skip eating which I'm sure only intensifies the effects of the pills. Such a catch 22.
Feel so good about DS and his SO---they are doing so well together---he has incorporated his business and has put her in as a partner and I think they will eventually have a civil marriage because they are both realizing the financial advantage to them individually if something were to happen to one of them. They are very committed to each other and have been talking about what they want to do when they retire in 20 years--I really love her---she is a perfect match for him---she told me how lucky they both feel in that they are really happy with the decisions they have made in life. DS has a really good outlook on life and it made me feel more hopeful just to have him here.

Hi!
Yesterday was busy day, housekeeper day, so went to the gym in the morning. Came home and took a nap. Left the house to go shopping at the big mall in the suburbs (one of the largest in the country), I haven't been there in years. I bought a ton of stuff, on top of all that I bought last week. Nothing is on sale because it's all spring stuff.
Bought 2 swim suits, 2 coverups, 5 bras, 4 shapewear things (better than Spanx), 2 cardigans, 1 shorts, 1 pants, 1 dress, 2 pairs shoes - I think that's it, may be another top or dress in there. OMG, my breasts went up to a 34D! How is this possible! Ugh, not happy with my weight and body.
Joan, glad that things are going so well for your DS and his SO, one less thing for you to worry about. Are his concussion symptoms gone now? I'm getting my hair cut tomorrow, haven't gone there in about 2 years, have only had SO give me trims.
Holly, congrats on NC win!
Today is tax day, going over to see the accountant soon. Doing both mine and my parents.

Wow,Sue, does this do it for cruise wardrobe?
Strange about your bra size.
DS still has some concussion issues---enough to keep him aware of certain things---he can manage an occasional beer or glass of wine-=--says he cannot do more of the head goes whacko again. DH was showing him a 360ΒΊ video of rafting down the Colorado which we all have done---he had to have us turn it off--that motion on the big screen tv immediately produced symptoms for him. He worries about early dementia because of concussions---but I think his really constant aerobic level biking and hiking and working out may help offset that---scary though.
Heading to the gym for WEd. Yoga and weights class. Wish the sculpt class were two times a week! Did a really neat thing in yoga yesterday--did all the positions with a block strapped to our backs up high--created an awareness of rounding your shoulders because when you did, the strap loosened up---so in every pose you kept your shoulders down and back to keep the tauntness on the strap and block---wow, it was such an effective teaching tool! That is the kind of thing my yoga teacher who is leaving does that I just love---she really teaches in unique ways so you constantly become aware of what you are really supposed to be doing in each pose. I will miss her terribly. We are having her going away, thank you celebration party at our house on April 21---pot luck with us providing drinks and a few hors d'oeurvres. Distributed the fliers yesterday. Everyone is so sad that she is leaving us---not moving away but moving into some other working situations that will pay better and be more challenging for her. I asked if I were to organize an evening yoga invite at my house and collect a fee would she do that occasionally and she said yes---I think that may be a way to keep learning from her and stay in touch.I think I could free up enough floor space for about 8 participants without too much rearranging. Would be kind of fun--we'd probably have to kick in about 15$ a piece to make it worth it for her, but private studios here charge 18 to 20---ugh. Yoga for the well to do! Our classes with her now are only $6 @.
