Hi all,
There are supposed to be some bad storms tonight, the get cool at the end of the week.
I am going to do the bike in a little bit. Been reading a lot more. I am trying to get back to reading for pleasure more.
Sue, that is odd. What were you before?
Joan, always feels good to get a haircut.

Hi!
Weight down a little 119 this morning.
Got my hair cut, a place a block away. I went there about 1 1/2 yrs ago, but this time I went to a different person, and I think I like him better. Love how smooth my hair feels afterwards, but I can never do exactly what they do, just don't have the patience. I got about 4 inches off the back and he did some long layers around my face. I bought a bunch of product, interesting that they have completely different product line than they had last time I went there.
Of course, it started pouring rain when I was leaving the salon. I did have my umbrella and it was only a block away so my hair stayed mostly smooth.
This afternoon, the same couple who has been borrowing SO's art is coming back again, bringing back what they took last time and to look again for something else. Another couple in our building is coming for drinks and to also look at SO's work (we haven't seen them since Dec) and then we're going to a byob a couple blocks away that opened a little while ago.
Joan, I hope your DS will be very careful, he can't take another concussion! Will these symptoms go away with time? Sounds like you have a great yoga teacher.
Holly, your storms last night are hitting us now. I was a 32B maybe 3-5 years ago.
I think I'm mostly done with cruise clothes shopping. Of course these clothes are good for when we come back from the cruise. My closet needs a major overhaul. I want to get rid of most of my business suits, as well as go through tops and pants.

Hi! Have had the kids today and yesterday/ they spent the night. It is their Spring break and DS and DDIL rented a cabin in the Mtns. for their anniversary.
I finally made a doctors appt. Tues. to see what was going on. Got the lab back on Wed. and I am severely anemic again. H&H is 8 and 25. I have a hematology appt. on Mon. and an appt. with the GI doc on the 18th. I am on a waiting list with the GI for an earlier appt.
Got my plants that I have had, potted finally. DGS4 was a big help potting them. I would pot them and he would move them to another area. I had nine 12" pots; so this was a help. I left them outside for sun in the afternoon but brought them in the garage at night as the temp was down to the 40's. Will be back to low 60's today so will put them out for more sun later. Was very tired when finished yesterday.
The John Deer came Wed. and it is beautiful. Can't wait to use it. Of course with the storms, the cold, and my weakness, I haven't tried it yet or worked in the yard lately. My yard is a mess.
DH wants to have his men's group at church for a cookout soon, but I talked him into waiting til I feel better.
Sue - sounds like you are enjoying your free time!
I have been crocheting away since all I feel like doing lately is sitting in the chair. Hope I soon feel like doing something more. This just isn't me. I want to work in my yard!

JoAnne, sorry to hear about your tiredness and now the low iron counts! I had no idea you were dealing with that---somehow I thought you were just fighting off that cough! Scary. Hope it's just a matter of getting on some iron---do you take the low dose aspirin? When I had such low ferretin they took me off of it---I had leisions in my stomach from taking too much advil (they thought) before my back surgery---the aspirin was just enough to do a slow bleed that never showed up in stool or anything. When I quit the aspirin, my iron gradually got back to normal. I was on iron supplement for about 3 months initially. Anyway, hope you get some answers that are an easy fix.
Very grey and breezy here today---like threatening rain but so far none.
Sue, I cannot imagine not going for professional cut that long---I love to get my hair cut---it is so thick that I really need that thinning by my hairdresser in order to not look just heavy and frumpy.
Took Jordan to the dentist again yesterday and his older guardian brother went along---introduced him to everyone there--they pulled the broken tooth and filled 3 on the same side. One more appt. to fill 3 on the other side and we are ready to start the braces---so next Friday fillings and then the next Tuesday will be wiring up---they said he will most likely have braces for about 26 months---luckily it won't depend on Medicaid since I am paying so we will have all the other work done before he is 18 and medicaid runs out. After the appt. we went to the mall and shopped at Penney's---we got him a suit---wow, he looks so awesome in it---it's an ultra slim fit so works great for him as he doesn't have an ounce of fat---Justin wanted to buy part of it so he bought the pants and I bought the jacket. Jordan left this morning for a Key Club convention in Anaheim---gave him some money for lunches and snacks---he had to have a suit cause he's an officer and will be on stage--no one allowed not in a business style suit. He wanted black and with his black hair and black glasses he really looked sharp. Justin and I decided to set up a visit to his school counselor--he wants to attend school at Community College and finish high school there so that some classes will already be high school credit---we want to find out what kind of effect this has on his getting a mellinial scholarship---in NV students with a straight A average get a full ride to any state school---we want him to get that and then whether or not he gets other scholarships, he is set for school.
I finished reading Blitzed---it is nonfiction about the Nazi's and Hitler--completely documented account of use of meth and morphine and oxycodone by Hitler and upper ranks and the drugging of the troops with meth in order to drive them into battle with less fatigue and little food and no sleep---OMG, had no idea this was the official plan to get more from their soldiers---incredulous account of totally drugged population euphoric in the face of atrocities they themselves committed. I didn't realize that Germany was the leading producer of cocaine in the 30's, worldwide---and that so many of the Germans used morphine regularly---it wasn't even a controlled substance---I knew about Coca Cola in the early days but had no idea about the rest of this. They were using heavy drugs like we take baby aspirin.
Holly, Happy Birthday! Hope you are lined up for a good weekend of celebrating!

Hi!
Weight dipped into the 118s this morning. Maybe because I didn't eat too many carbs last night.
The colleague and his wife cancelled coming over yesterday, it was pouring rain and there was flooding in their area. It did clear up later and actually got sunny. Dinner out with our neighbor friends was fun. The restaurant was really, really good.
First Course: Seared Diver Scallops. Scallop Crepe. Clam Risotto. Citrus Beurre Blanc. Perigord Truffle
Main Course: Grilled Stone Bass with Escarole. Sweet Pepper Emulsion. Pancetta. Olive. Pumpernickel Crouton
The scallop crepe was pureed and probably with some gelatin added and made into a crepe that was stuffed with the risotto and rolled. Really delicious. The bass was perfectly cooked. I loved all the different flavors and textures. We didn't order dessert.
Jojo, I also didn't realized you have been dealing with this tiredness. I hope you can get your iron back up soon.
Joan, you are making such a huge impact in Jordan's life! Very interesting about the drug use in Germany! Thanks for sharing that. Is it one of your book club books?
I have been procrastinating. I need to do bills, and start pulling out clothes for packing. Will go to gym later.

Sue, DH and I have in the past two months subscribed to NYTimes for online full news and a Sunday paper---each Sunday there is a pull out on books--reviews, interviews with authors, etc. Blitzed was in last week's and I'd never heard about this but DH had just seen a program relative to this research about the drugs used to hype up the entire military, so I decided to read the book. Besides the propaganda that dehumanized the Jewish people (much like what is happening to Islam today) the Germans were hyped up in a euphoria that was drug induced and may have even helped create this overconfidence of "rightness" as well. But they know for certain it propelled the troops to accomplish feats that were not humanly possible without the drug. The leaders knew that if only they didn't deal with soldiers having to sleep and getting dejected and worn down and disgruntled with war, they could accomplish their purpose of taking over Europe successfully. This book used letters home to families, records of orders for drugs and what fronts they were delivered to and to whom they were distributed. So it's all documented. Pretty amazing information to read. They had their own names for these drugs so the early US search through these documents didn't trigger people to realize what was actually going on.

Good morning Goddesses! Beautiful day here but cool. Joan - you have Jordon on the way to a healthy nice smile ! I know he must be so appreciative! You are a wonderful surrogate Grand Ma!
Sue- congrats on the wt. It is amazing that you have kept the wt. down so much with all of that fabulous food around you.
DS and DDIL will be here today to pick up the kids but I don't now when. I will have a mess of toys to clean up when the kids go. DGS4 has dragged toys all over the house. I have plenty of time to do it though.
I bought a little push mower (non motorized) to cut my hill and tough spots to get to with the John Deer. It came yesterday. I thought it would be safer on the hill for me. Also the rest of my planTs I ordered came; So must try to get them potted. Only 4 more plants.
I really need to go to he grocery store but want to wait till next Wed. If I can. With the kids gone, we can wait, I think.
Joan - I don't take aspirin, but I wonder if the Ibuprofen I took with the abcess started something up. I have wondered if I have a slow leak somewhere in my GI tract that is not showing.

Hi all,
Beautiful day today. Thanks for the birthday wishes. We're going to a local Chinese restaurant tonight that I like. Pretty low key.
Joan, sounds like things are on a good track for both Jordan and his brother.
Sue, glad you like your haircut. I used a shampoo/conditioner combo called Crazy Smooth that's made a huge difference.
JoJo, I'm on a hiatus from knitting. Been reading a lot instead. I have a lot of cotton yarn to use up though.

Hi!
Lazy morning. Weight at 119, so did not do too poorly with the Indian takeout. It was so good. Have a bunch of leftovers for SO to pick at for the next few days before we leave.
Went through a bunch of tops yesterday and tried on a ton of dresses trying to figure out what to bring. Some of these dresses I haven't worn in a couple years. Kind of stressing out over the packing for this length of time!
So many things to organize, getting all papers/travel material, bills, mail, laundry. Have to do more figuring out clothes this afternoon, bathing suits, shoes, pocketbooks, etc.
Holly, I don't think I've ever seen the Crazy Smooth brand, do you order it online?
Jojo, sounds like you are all set to mow the lawn this summer! Actually I had hoped that I would lose more weight last quarter at school given how physically tiring it was, so much time on my feet, running around.

Hi all,
Last night was good. We ate Chinese, then came for to my parents' for cake, ice cream, and presents. My brother gave me a palm tree since my patio gets so much sun. My parents are going to get me a roll top desk for my home office.
Sue, I get it from my hairdresser, but it comes up if you google it. My hair is so thick, and this stuff is concentrated. I don't have to use as much, so it has lasted me awhile. You are going to be gone for 3 weeks right?

Hi!
More organizing today. Got international call/text/data service although it will be very limited on the ship. We do have 2 hr free internet on the ship and we can always buy more if necessary. We will have free wifi in the hotels that we're staying at. Starting to get all our mobile stuff, adaptors, chargers, etc together.
Well, this is the first time I'm only wearing one piece bathing suits, no more 2 pieces for me anymore.
Holly, glad you enjoyed your birthday dinner. The cruise itself is 19 days and we will be staying a few days in hotels before and after the cruise, so it's almost 4 weeks!
Joan, how is your DGS16 doing? Is he liking his new school?
Going to get my nails done and maybe a little more shopping.

I. Typed a post yesterday and I guess it is completely lost in space somewhere! So weird. So Sue what day do you leave? I had asked if you were flying to Dubai first---somehow I thought that was so. If so, what will you do and see there? Where is the port that the cruise leaves from and where does it go and end up? Where staying at the end? Sorry--lots of questions.
Did my sculpt class, walked with my teacher to pick up coffee and walked back---really fast so a good workout, and then did dance---love Mondays! I have been exercising my hands with the donut thing that I bought that we use in our weights classes about monthly---every night or so I use it to exercise my hands and fingers---OMG, yesterday I pruned rose suckers (big ones) and dead trumpet vine branches with my new pruners I bought yesterday (large ratchet style) and I didn't even have sore hands---I always get sore hands when pruning-and I thought it would be worse cause these pruners have really too large a reach for my short fingers---I think they are man sized not for women! I told my teacher about it---she said that is totally result of thatexcercise donut work. Amazing!
I am seeing a tremendous change in my core strength as well---I've been at this gym now for 7 months---I cannot believe what a change in my strength and posture and body carriage---and so much more awareness of my core muscles in everything I am doing---really excited about that!
I made bread yesterday---oh man, it's so darn good! Had a piece toasted today with lunch. I gave my WW BF 3 slices last night to try---she loved it this morning. We picked she and her DH up last night and took them to Pinkberrry for Meyer lemon frozen yogurt---they had never been there and they are the ones who supply me with meyer lemons every year. They enjoyed it so much---her DH is older than all of us--he is 84--he enjoyed it a lot and really likes talking with DH so that's great. Gives my WWBF a nice time out as she carries the load mostly at home, does all the driving, etc. I give her all my beet greens so took some more to her. She is making a fermented tea drink---has a starter---it's called kombacha or something---wow, it tastes really good---I may make some---have to read up on it and then get some starter from her.
Have some business phone calls to make so better get with it!
