Joan- got to get the bread ingredients - can't wait. Will go to grocery tomorrow.
Sue - know you are getting excited about the cruise. You will look fabulous in a one piece bathing suit. They have so many attractive styles now.
I went to the hematologist Mon. He thinks the anemia is chronic from the huge hiatal hernia that I have (made worse by the scoliosis. I will still see the GI doc on the 18th. I have an iron infusion scheduled on Friday and then again on the24th. I could have had it sooner but due to other commitments I schedules those days.

Will be glad to get the iron. He says that the new iron infusion preparations are so much better than than the old ones that we used to use. They were terrible and something you just didn't want to have. Looking forward to feeling better.
I have to learn to drive the John Deer. Feeling so bad that I haven't attempted it but excited about learning. The cart will be great for hauling my potted plants from place to place.
Woke up this a.m. with the bursitis in my right hip giving me fits. Probably because I haven't had the energy to do my exercises.

Hi!
Busy day, housekeeper day so got up early and went to the gym. Did some online paying of bills that I won't be here for to mail in, yes, I'm still using the good old post office and only pay online if I really have to, lol.
Had some errands to do, then came home and started packing at 2:30 and have just sat down about 40 minutes ago. Cleaned out refrigerator, cooked some vegetables that I'll freeze, gave some food away. We are checking in luggage for the first time in a very long time. We usually just carry on, but with this long of trip we need more things.
Joan, we'll be going to AEU first, Oman, Qatar, Jordan, Israel, Egypt (just the Suez), and Greece last, some islands then ending up in Athens. We've been to Dubai before and Greece. SO has been to Qatar. Great that the donut exercise worked for you.
Jojo, I hope you feel better soon and get back to your exercises and all the other zillion things you do!
Leaving early tomorrow morning!

Safe travels, Sue!! Wow, you are really trippin' out this time!!
Went to pilates today---it's really good--but it was not yoga after---that is only once a month---so I'll continue to do my yoga class and give the new teacher a chance---wish I could do both.
Met up with a former teacher today who wants to do an aerial picture of her school (about 1000+ students and teachers) in the shape of a blue ribbon---their school was awarded the Blue Ribbon Schools award---she was at my last school where we formed a human flag (this is something I also did years ago at my first school and twice at the school I was at for ten years---we did a human birthday cake at 5 year anniversary and a human boat before I left for ten years (we were the Mariners). So she knew I had worked the math before to do this---but this was much harder---a circle with two ribbons at an angle---yikes. Hope what we did works--but we managed to get it on graph paper---now on May 7 we will meet up and paint dots and circles on the field the day before the picture. It took us 2 1/2 hours and I had done some of the planning ahead of time!
I bought purple sweet potatoes at TJ's today and baked them=--heard they were the favorite thing in Okinawa where the life expectancy is very long. I always wanted to try them---takes much longer to bake them than traditional sweet potatoes.
Am going to watch John Oliver tonight---heard he was good---we have HBO for a year so might as well take advantage.
JoAnne I didn't even know they did iron injections! You must be very low.
Holly, did you plan your palm yet?

Hi all,
Just got home. Worked late tonight. I'm meeting family at the Sierra Nevada brewery in Asheville tomorrow night. Looking forward to it. Haven't been there.
Sue, safe travels! Are you going to Santorini in Greece? It's on my bucket list.
JoJo, good luck with the infusion.
Joan, my brother planted it in a pot on my patio. I am reading A Man Called Ove. It is really good.

Good morning, Must go to the grocery today. Joan had planned to get the ingredients for the bread but decided to wait on that. I'm trying to expend as little energy as possible until I'm feeling better. So getting the minimum at the grocery'
One of those nights where I woke up at 2:30 and could not go back to sleep until between 4:30-5. Didin't get up until 8:30. Having my coffee.

Hi! I'm in the lounge waiting to board, drinking a bloody mary, haha. It's late afternoon in Doha time so we're trying to adjust and sleep on plane.
Holly, yes Santorini is one of the islands, we have been there before, but loving that we get to go back.
Joan, those aerial formations are amazing, I'm sure it's a ton of work to pull it off perfectly.
Jojo, can you take something to stay asleep?
I put that book on my list. Will be able to do a lot of reading on the cruise! Ok, I'll try to check in when I can...not sure how much access I'll get. Next few nights I'll have wifi at the hotel but when the cruise starts it will be limited.

So weird--the board made me reply as a guest last night---today same thing---then I saw it had logged me out---I wonder if it does that every few months automatically.
I am having homemade bread toasted and a salmon patty for breakfast---did that yesterday too---I make a big batch of patties when we have them and I use them for lunch or breakfast for about five days! Love it.
I purchased our tickets to fly to NYC last night---all with points---DGD16 would have been so pricey to fly from Sac and she would be alone changing planes in Chicago---so I bought her a ticket to fly here the night before and fly with us all the way---DD liked the idea better as well---it was about half as pricey! I think LV has cheaper flights because we are a destination city---then DD realized we should check that out with Philly---OMG, I am flying her and DGD12 here and then out to Philly---the flight to Philly was only $123---whereas from CA it was going to be over 300. We will be gone but leave the car in the airport for them and they can come spend the night here and go back to the airport in the morning and leave the car again. So I have to figure out crazy cat sitter stuff---she is so weird--any change in anything just thows her off totally---a very OCD person who has to have a totally uninterrupted routine in order to cope! Anyway, it's crazy but cheaper this way so that is done!
JoAnne, you must really be feeling the exhaustion! I hope you get some answers soon---have they done the blood tests yet? Are you more exhausted than the last time your iron was low? Worries me the super tiredness because of our neighbor who spent several months exhausted and run down and then they finally diagnosed some form of leukemia---not trying to scare you, but I hope the nurse in you pushes for a full investigation of this and not just jumping to a quick answer.
By now you are probably air borne, Sue---hope you love the trip!
Hope you have a good get away with family, Holly---we are only hosting the boys and DD for Easter breakfast as we have a play that night and DD's neighbors are hosting a neighborhood Easter event so they kind of wanted to go there anyway. Guess I will have to get out a few Easter decorations--had not really planned to but DGS13 still expects it---

Sue - didn't realize that you had already left Philly. Have wonderful travel and safe arrival. We will want to hear all the details of the trip. Are you keeping a journal. I found on some of my travel that the journal was so much fun to look back at and helped me with pictures too.
Joan - What a deal you got on the flight! Isn't it amazing how the rates vary! Even from the origin. Yes, I thought about the anemia and Lukemia - but the hematologist that I go to is also an oncologist (GA Cancer Specialists) and I have worked with him and trust him very much. He redid all of my lab from the Internist. I also have an appt with the GI on the 18th.
Holly - you have really had a great BD celebration with your family!
Tried out driving the John Deere (I have been spelling it wrong) today. There is a learning curve. They suggest driving the terrain with blade disengaged before doing any cutting. I have found that there is a lot of the back yard that I still will have to do with a push mower. Not doing any mowing until I feel better though.

Hi!
Well our flight was cancelled yesterday. The plane (which was a new one) had "technical" problems. It needed a part and it couldn't come in time. Instead of taking a bus to JFK and taking a flight late last night, we opted to just take the same flights today. In the lounge now. Between the cost of last night's hotel, taxis, ticket change charges it cost us $1000! Ugh.
Joan, when I get back I'm going to want to make your bread! Yes, when we used to go to LV, there were always good deals on flights.
Jojo, funny you mention journal. I haven't jounaled since my graduation from college trip to Italy. My sous chef from my internship gave me a moleskin notepad when I left and I started writing on it yesterday.
Ok, hope to check in with you guys in Dubai!

Well, at least they didn't drag you off the plane, Sue! LOL. such a crazy world out there now! So you were flying out of NYC? Are you on your own for the part of the trip before the cruise, or have you hired a guide?
Made insurance calls this morning before class and discovered that my drug insurance has raised their prices gradually over the past few years. I'm paying more for drug ins. Than I am for drugs since I'm on so very little---so on open enrollment I will ditch this coverage and go to DH's company---his is only 12$ a month and mine $80 and he's on 3 expensive meds! Crazy.
WEnt to Pilates---was pretty hard today but good.
Yesterday I decided to attack my front yard---with my new electric hedge trimmer---OMG, I love it---put in about 2 1/2 hrs. And got the whole front trimmed up---wow, it looks so good, but I was done in last night. Had DH take me out to dinner---had ahi tuna on an Asian slaw---an appetizer at Outback---OMG, it was so good. Served cold like a salad. Took a bit of Advil early in the evening and one Aleve last night---woke up feeling good so went to class.
Our wind came back today---ugh---we thought it was over with!
Went to TJ's after class. I am having a toothache issue so guess I'll call the dentist and see if he can work me in for an X-ray---have cleaning next week but am worried aobut going through the the weekend and having a possible absess!

Hi all,
We get Friday and Monday off for Easter since we're a Christian institution. Glad to have a break. The Sierra Nevada brewery was really neat. They grow their own hops and herbs for their beer and use well water. Very self sustainable.
Sue, hope you made it to Dubai. What a pain with the extra expenses.
Joan, yardwork is really satisfying. I finished A Man Called Ove. It reminds me of my grandfather. He had a big heart, but was rather ornery.

Hi!
Finally in Dubai! We are exhausted. Got up yesterday and repeated what we did on Wed, and thankfully, the plane took off and everything went as it should. I only slept 2 hours in the last 24, I could not sleep on the plane even though we had chairs that competely became beds. I forgot to use the earbuds and woke up when there was noise.
SO and I had lunch, some wine watched some movies then went to sleep. I had another light breakfast when I woke up, but there were people who ate 4-5 times! This airline is doing something different. They have a menu - lunch, breakfast, snacks - and you can eat whatever, whenever you wanted to, just call them to your seat.
We got to our hotel, checked out the beach and pool, showered, rested and went to the executive lounge for free happy hour with hot/cold appetizers. That was enough for us because it seems we've been eating the entire trip, between on the plane and in the lounges. Went back early to our room and SO is already asleep and I'm winding down.
Tomorrow we are going to totally relax.
Joan, you've been having so many problems with your teeth this year, hope it's not anything serious.
Holly, we got the hotel rooms by using points, so it's not like actual money out of our pockets but a night at the hotel is worth a lot!
Have hotel wifi for next 3 days!

Sounds as tho' you are relaxing now, Sue!
The weather here is ideal today---so I have been out in the yard all day since about 9 am---it's now 1---I fertilized all the front shrubs and plants and flowers, planted thyme and basil and two cucumbers, pruned the spent roses, sprayed all my tomatoes with kelp juice (read that that really helps them in Vegas to produce better fruit), fertilized the rose roots, then foiliage fertilized all the flower beds, gathered up all my solar battery bug jars and put them in full sun so I can see which are still good batteries and finally just stopped for a lunch break! I love yard work---so much satisfaction compared to housework--I think the results last so much longer--perhaps that's why. Also just being out is so positive.
DH took DD out to a place called Baja today---they carry tons of yard decor, water features and pots---she bought a few things for her courtyard and he is headed over to hang the things on the walls---yesterday he and DGS16 hung patio lights for her.
WE played cards last night at BF's. The women were very lucky and won the evening---was fun that way! LOL
