Welcome to our 2020 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men. Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.
The main focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is to commit ourselves to success, one day at a time, one hour at a time....success breeds success! Follow a healthy food plan, exercise and stay AF.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment for the entire challenge is the way to go, but day by day is also a way to go. No one is cut from the challenge, and if you don't want to be part of the challenge, you are still welcome to post.

ALMOST TIME TO SWITCH FROM MY DAILY ANXIETY TO MY FANCY CHRISTMAS/NEW YEAR ANXIETY OR CHOOSE ACCOUNTABILITY NEW CHALLENGE November 1 through December 31
Accountability: experiencing consequences for performance or actions. Accountability is essential for an organization, for a society, and for a person. Anxiety: a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome.
In other words, with accountability, a person will assume ownership of their own action because they will face consequences. With anxiety, a person will put enormous pressure on themselves by worry or fear.
Accountability is what we’ll call it, but think of it as both incentive and insurance. It helps to keep one in control and not let anxiety take over. The Anxiety will not get you anywhere. The holidays are coming and no amount of crash dieting or excessive eating/drinking or letting stress take over, will delay the inevitable. Establishing accountability helps us to stay the course, even when our former ways tempt us. If a little accountability is good, and more is better, then let’s go all in on this challenge. Leave the anxiety out of the equation.
What should we be accountable for in this challenge? Pick one, all, or anything in between. Feel free to add your own accountability goal and let others join you.
ACCOUNTABILITY CHOICES!
FRESH START MONDAY! What is your accountability for the week? What anxiety will you let go of?
MOVE MORE ACCOUNTABILITY Every little bit helps and definitely helps anxiety.
SLEEP ACCOUNTABILITY Have you established a routine?
NUTRITION ACCOUNTABILITY Ugly and good days Drink more water Drink your height in water….68 inches tall equals 68 ounces of water….add 8 ounce every seven days One or more fruit daily One or more vegetable daily Track nutritional intake Grocery List Share a healthy recipe Low Sugar, limit added sugar to 24 grams or less Pre lose the five pound holiday gain AF/AIM/AIE
JOURNAL YOUR NUTRITION ACCOUNTABILITY
HAPPINESS ACCOUNTABILITY
What did you do for yourself today? Motivational quote
HABIT ACCOUNTABILITY What new habit are you establishing?
CHECK IN DAILY ACCOUNTABILITY Scale of 1 -5 …how is your day going? Just say NO - not saying yes to every request will help to control anxiety.
TIME MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTABILITY Need to do, should do, want to do Organize yourself with lists. Lists can help reduce anxiety.
Let's be accountable and supportive to each other. As always no judgement, just encouragement, and if needed, tough love though we are usually toughest on ourselves. Set your accountability goals and let's get to work. Let’s be healthier versions of ourselves come January 1.

Countdown to retirement - 46 days!
Good morning! Amy I know you are posting right now but I wanted to get this up before I go to church. I was so tired yesterday after the choir rehearsal. We were there for 3 1/2 hours and my back was killing me after setting up those shelves and sitting in those hard back chairs that long. I did a little more work in the garage when I got home and then relaxed for the evening. Today I'm going to deep clean the kitchen and get lunches ready for the week after I get home from church. I'll be back here then to catch up on personals. Murphy

DH & I walked the nature trail to see what other painted rocks were placed. There were quite a few new ones, some of mine were either missing or relocated. The shell in the picture above is one of mine. The walk started out a little chilly, but we quickly warmed up in the sunshine. I couldn't get Annie to come downstairs, so after we got back from the walk, I finally grabbed her by the scruff of the neck (which she did not like at all) and carried her back to the basement. I have given up on trying to integrate her with Bill and Sookie upstairs, she will have to just be happy in her basement feline fiefdom. Or as DH calls her, the beast of the basement. By last evening, she seemed to have settled back in and stopped growling whenever I approached her. After breakfast yesterday, we headed to Rome, Georgia to check out their historic downtown holiday open house. Not sure the open house was worth the trip, but we enjoyed exploring. We got fried fish take out for lunch in Rome and took it to a park near a river to eat it. There was a walking trail that followed the river, so we took a short walk after we were finished eating. On the way out of town, we saw an actual Krispy Kreme store, so of course we had to go through the drive through for a dozen glazed donuts to take home. I haven't been brave enough to face the scale yet today, my posted weight is from Friday. Last evening no one was hungry enough for dinner, I ended up having chips and cheese. And another donut. DH set up the generator on the driveway and we distributed lanterns and flashlights around the house for the planned power outage. DH started up the generator shortly before 11pm and we ran extension cords to both refrigerators and a floor lamp on the main level so we could see to move around during the night. The power went out shortly thereafter and came back a little after 6am this morning. No big plans for today, will probably putter around at home. We'll have to reset a lot of the clocks again. It's hard to believe the month is half over already.
Murphy- WTG getting the shelving unit put together. Glad you got good news about your lab work. Do you another person in mind as your replacement?
Liz- Yay for having saved a lot of recipes on MFP. It seems as though most people know when it's the right time for them to retire and are comfortable with it. Hope it works out that way for you.
GG- LOL over Jack wanting mom's help with 5th grade English. I got a real ID driver's license in Florida with my marriage certificate from the church, but apparently it's not good enough for Georgia. DH did some research, apparently if they can't find the license in the county records, we can just re-submit the paperwork. I may try to get a passport, but I don't think there's enough time before the deadline to register to vote for the January Senate runoff. I'm hoping that applying online to register to vote was enough to complete the process. I'm not sure exactly how it works. DH & DD also filled out the voter registration information online, we'll see if they get their cards and I don't.
Jan- WTG blue dot, AF, leftover weeklies, scale down! Sorry about your laptop, hopefully it will come back to life long enough to get your info off of it. DS spent the night Friday night and went home yesterday morning while we were still trying to wrangle Annie. We did have a chuckle about not be actually married.
Carole- So sorry about the end of the pregnancy. Hopefully what she learned is better planning for next time. Hugs to you all! Glad your dad is doing so well and your bedroom and bathroom turned out beautiful.
Cindy- So sorry about your fall and the headache. Glad DS & his co-workers tested negative. GL at the doctor on Tuesday.
Cathy- WTG AF, OP, exercise. Hope the thunderstorm passed without damage.

ACCOUNTABILITY, NOT ANXIETY November 1 - December 31 November 1 start weight: 202.3 November 8: 202.6 November 15: 201.7 November 22: November 29: December 6 December 13: December 20: December 27: December 31 final weight: Good morning all. Feel like some things got done yesterday and now we tackle today. I will take my laptop in at 12:20 to Best Buy, figured good appointment time as the Packers start to play at noon Walked some yesterday outside but the wind was so cold it was uncomfortable when you had to walk into it. Today I will either walk inside the box store or do a Leslie Sansone upstairs, or both! DH wants lasagna for dinner so I need to get a few things at the grocery and plan the rest of my day around the points. High carb day but we'll make it work. That's about all the excitement from Wisconsin, unless you want to go into politics, then there's plenty of crazy I think I'll just try to stay insulated in my own little world for a bit longer. Have a great day all. Jan Amy That's a lot of AP and walking. Sounds like an awesome day. So fun to explore new places. Hope you can get your voter situation figured out. Glad Annie the beast, went back to the basement. I just keep giving the kitties new toys, well, a foil ball, a paper bag, new things to play in to keep them busy. The other day they had unearthed 5 foil balls that must have been hidden under furniture or somewhere. Maybe now the donuts are gone, so yummy when they're warm!! Glad the power is back. Murphy Hope you didn't wear yourself out yesterday. GL getting your lunches together and then take some down time!! Yay for the scale being friendly!! Cindy Yuck about the fall, hope nothing too serious but a bruised ego or leg. Glad DS work all got tested. Cathy Hope the storm has passed and you didn't lose power. Do you have back up generators? Carole So sorry to hear about the baby but maybe that was the answer. Good that they didn't wait to think about it any longer and then not have an option. Have you talked to her much? Would it be good to have some counseling or so she doesn't get guilt pangs or depression? Did her dad ever know? Hope you all can work though it and move forward. Hugs Hi to all, hope to check in from my laptop sometime later today. FIngers crossed.

Good morning!
Yesterday was an AIM day, I measured 4 oz of home made wine that DH made this year; it is not quite done but I mixed it with diet orange soda to make my own wine cooler. Down 1.2 this week, yay! Yesterday was a quiet day, didn't get many steps in since I knitted quite a bit. I was able to knit 1 skein of yarn in two days. I still have 9 skeins to go to finish the "big" blanket, so my goal is to try to complete 2 skeins a week, I "could" finish by Christmas so that I can start my Isabel's first baby blanket. DD finally made a choice of the three yarns that I purchased. She chose the one that was closest to Blush and not baby pink. I am going to have a lot of pink yarn so make some outfits and hats for the baby girls that will be coming next year. All in all a peaceful, good day and planning on doing the same today.
Amy~ Just curious, why is Annie so hostile with Sookie, didn't you have Sookie in Florida and they lived together? Krispy Kreme glazed donuts, oy, I could inhale them, they are so light and they really go down easily, lol!
Cindy~ We are going to have to bubble wrap you! Yay for DS' boss pulling strings for the testing! That is pretty scary about the spider bite!
Murphy~ Woohoo for your weight loss this week! Take it easy with all that physical organizing, don't tire yourself out so soon after recovering from Covid!
Jan~ Luna (DD's Shepard) loves the grunting piggy. I can't help giggling when I hear it grunt. Sorry about your laptop, hope it goes on long enough for you to extract what you need.
Cathy~ Hope the thunderstorm wasn't too severe!
GG~ The reason why our students are learning remotely is that our city is considered a "red zone" in Massachusetts, our positivity rate is extremely high. We have a large multi-generational households in our city, and hold large family gatherings in their home. I do have to commend our governor and our mayor for the mask mandates and setting up test sites with results in almost 24 hours and contact tracing. We are required to wear masks when outside even if we are no one is around us. I'm ok with it for sure!
Carole~ Hugs, I really believe in the saying that everything happens for the best which doesn't seem that way when things happen. I am glad that your father is doing well. I hope you can get some rest as well, take care of you!
Time for me to get cracking on that blanket! Have a wonderful Sunday!

Hi again. I think I really messed my back up yesterday. I took some Tylenol before church and I made it through ok but by the time I got home, my back was really screaming. I tried to bend over to unload the dishwasher and it was awful! I think I can stand up long enough to make a pot of soup and lunches for the week but that may be it for the day.
Amy - I love that people are loving the painted rocks and shells! I wonder if this was going on before you moved there or if you are responsible for a new wave of friendship! So sorry that Annie just doesn't seem willing to play nice with the other cats! But I love that she has her own kingdom! I do hope you get the voter stuff worked out!
Cindy- so sorry about the fall! Hope you don't have any lasting effects from it!
Carole - I'm so sorry about the baby. Sending prayers and hugs your way. Glad to hear that your dad is doing so well!
Liz - is the big blanket for the new granddaughter? Glad you have made so much progress on it. I remember the mother of a girlfriend from high school used to start crocheting a new afghan every November. She always said that if she worked on it each night, by January it would be big enough that she could spread it over her lap to keep her warm! LOL
Jan - I sure hope you are able to get something worked out on the laptop! I am still loving my Mac. I know there is still so much I don't know about it but gracious there are tons of videos on You Tube that I have learned so much from!
Cathy - hope the thunderstorm didn't turn out to be too bad!
It has started raining here so it will be a lovely afternoon for some soup! Hopefully I can at least get the kitchen cleaned up! It's a mess! Hope you all have a great rest of your day! Murphy

Hello friends! I’m back at my dads. It’s so warm in here, ugh! But he’s doing well. If we could just get this all night urinating under control. My DB said he was up every hour last night. I was supposed to work 9-2. I thought my brother could stay 9-12, he can’t come at all. So I asked my boss if I can work just 9-12, I got somebody to cover rest of my hours. Then the nurse calls, she’ll be here between 8:30-9:30. So I asked someone to stay until 10:00. So, after all that, I may work 2 hours! I do want to apologize. I hope I didn’t offend anyone with Lexs decision. I’m sure I’ve told you I have 1 nephew with severe handicapped issues and 1 nephew with autism and many medical issues. All of this also scared Alexis. Anyway, I truly am sorry if I offended you. DH and I took Tyler out to lunch. It’s his 21st birthday tomorrow! I can’t believe it.
Amy, how is your body feeling? I love the rocks and shells with sayings. Such a nice thing to do in this crazy world.

Gg, dad just said if I want to sleep upstairs I can! I may take him up on it!
Cindy, I hope your knee and foot are ok. Take care of you!
Liz, sounds like you’re wrist is doing better! How far along is Elyse?!
Cathy, I hope your storm wasn’t too bad.

Scale is up...catching it NOW and back on track today! I have a plan and will stick to it! The storm petered out and it is sunny today. It will rain again and storm in the future but it is a nice day today.
AMY: I hope Annie settles in the basement. Too bad the other two cats and she don't get along
MURPHY: You've been BUSY! I hope you were able to relax and rest your back!
JAN: I think I would exercise inside, too, if it is cold outside!
LIZ: I wish you luck with the knitting! I haven't done any needlework in years...I seem to go through phases where I do crafts then stop and do something else...wonder if I will return to needlework in the future?
CINDY: Hope all is well with you.
CAROL: It must be difficult to get the scheduling for your father's care worked out. How fun that Tyler will be 21! I am glad your daughter listened to her doctor's advice and did what would be best...though I am sure it was not an easy decision.
