Hello Crafters Ginny - Thanks for checking on the bowls and carrots for me, sounds like it is a distribution situation (like you said) rather than a shortage. Hope you can get the pockets on the shawl done. It's interesting how different fabric shops are. I lean towards traditional fabrics, so I don't really care for the ones that mostly stock modern fabrics. The vacuum I bought is a Shark canister type and it has a hose that you can lift away to sweep steps, etc. I'm trying to get motivated to get it out of the box and try it out Ruth - I hope you can find the rest of your JoAnn's order. We have a SAMS Club, BJ's and Costco all within about 15 miles of my house, but the Costco is the closest, so that's why I joined it. I probably only go to Costco maybe 5 or 6 times a year, but I guess that amount of savings equals my membership cost with maybe some extra savings. The vacuum I bought yesterday was on sale for and the same one was on sale at Target for $30 more (where I probably would have bought it), so I did save $30. I just don't have a need to buy in bulk very often and I think those that do get the most savings from the warehouse stores. I'm not feeling motivated to do much today, but hopefully I can get a few things done. It's cloudy here, but in the 60s. Hope all of you are doing well and getting to do some crafting.

Hey CJ- I hear that shark vacuums get great reviews....and hope that yours works great!!! 3 years ago when I retired I was given a target gift card, and bought a new vacuum- I got a Hoover wind tunnel- which picks up an insane amount of dirt. ( I am not immaculate but don’t keep a total pig sty either). Hope your shark is as good as your brother says his is. Got a feeling it is. My experience with BJ’s is that they do not sell junk, and of course their prices (Like Costco and Sams) are really good. I do not get to BJ’s much either....but some of what I get is such better quality or better price that the membership does pay for itself. Hope you got motivated to do something- or at the very least settled into something comfortable for you to keep busy with. those days in which you do not catch a rhythm are tough until you figure out what you are going to do. I too lean toward traditional fabrics. This store had some “cute” fabrics- (not such a big fan of whimsical fabrics)- really an interesting mix. I like the fabric selection from the main quilt shop- but its nice to know that this one exists- and I did get my thread. The pattern book I bought is from the Fabric Cafe patterns- the 3 years quilts that you introduced us to. This book has instructions for 8 quilts- 3 of them I really like and can see me making. Nice how they include the ability to make the quilts in larger sizes- which I might do. So it provides me with inspiration for other quilts. They had some fabrics in precut kits for use with these books (they had several of the Fabric Cafe books) and I did not like the selection of fabrics in her kits.
I did finish (yay!) the pocket shawl, pockets attached and all. I took it over to Dd#2’s - she loved it and said she will use it as her class room is freezing. Gotta say, it looks better on her than me! Going to work on a scarf I am making to use up a single skein of yarn....then back to the panel quilts. Will probably work on the panel quilts tomorrow, its too late in the day for me to work at the machine.
As CJ said, hope that everyone has had a good day and can get some time in crafting/crocheting/quilting or checking out the blogs. Ginny

CJ, I once had a Shark dust buster and it was good. I don't know what happened to it though. Maybe dd borrowed it and never gave it back. We seem to have a lot of vacuums. One is still in the box and was from a black Friday deal I think last year. It's a Hoover.
Ginny, It sounds like you p;icked a good book to buy. I love patterns that give instructions for changing sizes in crochet so I'm sure I'd like them in quilt patterns too. I'm glad your dd liked the pocket shawl. A cold classroom will be a perfect place for her to wear it. My ds' church is quite cold so if I ever get there and go with them I'll wear a pocket shawl which means I'll have to make myself one or borrow one from the girls.
I did get a lot of crafting in today. DH had one of his head pain episodes so I didn't want to disturb his sleep by working in the kitchen or anything so just sat and crocheted. It didn't go too well though as I keept doing the repeat of one of the rows wrong.luckily the rows are short. I think I did it over at least four times. Don't know how that happens since I already did it twice before. So unless something comes up I should get it done yet tonight since it's only 6:30 here.I'm back on track finally.I'm halfway thru the last repeat then I'll measure and see if I need to do more.I'm sure it's not going to be 72 inches like they said it would be but it may be long enough.
No problem with the plums Ginny, there were only four in the box but he always brings quite a bit of food and this time brought even more, canned goods, a pack of frozen meat, frozen fish sticks and some kind of snack kind of like cheetos only in long strips and very spicy...supposed to be anyway. We haven't tried them yet, and two packs of snack size boxes of raisins. I guess he takes some to some of the other neighbors also.

Good morning!
Ruth, I hope that you were able to complete that pocket shawl. From what you mentioned you were awfully close and would have a long quiet evening to get it done in. Funny how stuff disappears from our homes....I have a huge ladder that DSIL borrowed last spring that never returned. Your dust buster is out there somewhere. My friend had one that was a real workhorse- I do prefer a full sized vacuum. Have you been able to figure out what happened to your Joanns order?? Any idea what triggered Dh’s head pain episode? They are usually not too long are they- in other words he should be back to normal today, or so I hope.
Want to get my walk in before church.

Dh woke up a couple hours after I posted and his head pain was nearly gone. He feltigi better as the evening went on. I did waste the time he was still sleeping though as I had written down one row of the shawl wrong and spent all that time figuring out what the problem was until I FINALLLY went back to the original pattern online and it was a mistake in my copying it to my notebook so It's not quite done yet but will be today. So this one is only taking me four days instead of a whole week like the last one. I did spend time yesterday also looking at other patterns.
Got an email today that my Joann's order will be here tomorrow. No scarfie or heartland in it though. It must not have been on sale. There's one color scarfie that I would love to have but it's either always not in stock or too expensive and not included in the sale.
Looks like for the next couple weeks we'll have temps in 40's with a couple 50's thrown in so not bad for winter.
Have a good day everyone!!

The sun is shining. I ate breakfast out on the back deck this morning. Felt good with the sun reflected off the outside wall!
My DGD had her appendix removed in the wee small hours of the morning. I guess it turned out that the lymph nodes were appendix related. I hope she'll be feeling much better after this. It's too bad it took so long to find her new doctor. The old one moved away. Long is a relative term, but she ran into roadblocks in the ER and Urgentcare that should have been avoidable.

Hello Crafters Ginny - I hope you enjoy making the 3 Yard Quilt patterns. I've made several and enjoyed them. If you haven't made one before and only have the 3 yards of fabric then I'll give you a tip to read the cutting directions a few times before cutting. Many of the patterns use almost the whole 3 yards, so there's no margin for error. I have several of the patterns that I still want to make one day. Ruth - I'm glad you DH is feeling better. It's great that you figured out that pattern and it will take you less time to make. Hope your JoAnn's order comes and has everything you ordered this time. Sue - I'm glad your enjoying some sunshine. I hope your DGD will heal quickly and glad the doctor's finally found out the problem. Phyl - Hope you are getting to do some crafting. It was another mild day, and not quite as cloudy as yesterday. My crafting has been checking out quilting blogs and that's probably all I'll do. I have several needles threaded to work on some more hand quilting so I hope to do that soon. Take care everyone!

Good evening.....
CJ- thanks for the heads up on the 3 yard quilt patterns.Yes they seem to use all the fabric and also do the binding a bit differently. But the patterns in the book I got, well some I really like. And the small sized quilts are crib sized- or close enough, should I have to make another baby quilt. Hope you get some hand quilting in. See anything good on the blogs?
Sue- I will be praying for your DGD- that she recovers quickly from her procedure!!! Yes, I hope she finds a good doctor quickly also. Urgent care can be great....but some times there is no replacing a good doctor who really knows his/her patients.
Ruth, yay, yay, yay!! Dh is feeling better, the weather is milder and your Joanns order will soon be in your hands.
I Ironed some curtains and rehung the curtain rod. Now am finally going to read the paper (I only get the Sunday paper). Not sure if any crocheting is in the cards for me tonight. Hi To Phyl- Night all G

Ginny - I never used the 3 Yard Quilt method for binding. I just kept that extra fabric with my scraps. I think most of their binding was only 1 1/2 inches wide and I like a wider binding.

Sue I guess I missed you mentioning lymph nodes but I'm glad they figured it out and did what was needed. Now I will also be praying for speedy recovery.
CJ, I think wide borders are great also. They use more fabric but really do look nice.
Ginny, I hope you had a good day. Is your church still having services inside? Did you get to see your family today?
Well I really need to learn to read more thorougly. I don't know how I got the idea that repeating the rows 2-19 twice was the end of the pattern. I measured and found mine was really short...54 inches so to get mine to 67 inches is going to take more time than I thought. I looked back and saw that what she actually said was to repeat those rows until it got to 72 inches.
