This is a monthly thread for those of us who have a lot of weight to lose. The definition of “a lot” is something that is determined personally, so everyone who feels they have a lot of weight to lose is welcome to post here.
Please join us in offering support, checking in for accountability, help with questions, etc. We’re in this for the long haul.
We’d also love to hear from those of you who are maintaining a large loss. We need those tips to help us to keep the weight off once we lose it.

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well on your plans this weekend sunrose - *waving* to you from your post in the March thread This is Day 1 of maintenance for me and I'm doing well. I decided to let this first week by 9 days, since my weeks usually start on Mondays. I added back 4 points to my daily points. I had read that it was a good idea to use the newly added points on "good foods" instead of junk/snacks. So I added 1 point to breakfast, 1 point for a dairy, and 2 points for a larger dinner. I also had a few weekly points left to use today and tomorrow, so it's going to be interesting to see what I weight on Monday, since this is a lot more food than I normally eat. I weighed-in today since it's the first day of the month (and maintenance) and I lost 4.9 lbs in March, which I was very happy with especially since I was so close to my goal.

cj59 wow great job in March! I think you have a good plan for spending those 4 points.
I have been doing pretty good with my exercise. Now I need to work on tracking (honestly).
Waving to all

Hello everyone! I totally posted in the March thread, then started an April thread, then finally found this one and deleted all those other ones! lol cj59 - I'm so excited about your maintenance; I can hardly stand it! I like that you've decided how to divide up those extra points! I think that's a great way to go about it. sunrose49 - I'm sometimes a little less than honest with my tracking. I will leave the odd thing out, or I will omit the serving size when I know I ate too much (I track on paper and it's reviewed by my consultant every week - I'm on a plan which provides a set meal plan and guidelines as to what to eat and I meet weekly with a consultant to go over it). I did very well while I was away. The meal was very plan-friendly (although it was a lot of food - five courses plus appetizers!) and I ate my snacks as planned. I had too much wine (as I knew that I would) and didn't get any exercise in, but other than that it was perfect. Things have been a bit sporadic since I've been back (yesterday and today). I've been so busy that I haven't been able to stick to regular meals. That said, everything I've eaten has been OP for the most part - I'm just not eating frequently enough or getting my water in. This morning I was up a pound after my trip away. I'm also feeling quite dehydrated. So, I'll be pushing the water and trying to get back to my regular schedule for these next couple of days. I have a busy week this week - lots of meetings and a presentation or two. So, I'm going to try to work some exercise in around that. I just need to plan my meals as best I can and work on getting the exercise in. I've noticed that my clothes are starting to get a bit too big, but I'm not quite down a size, so I'm at that awkward stage. I'm hoping that in another 5lbs or so, I'll be ready to do some shopping!

Hello Everyone sunrose - Congratulations for doing good on exercise, that's an important part of the process wwlurker - Congratulations on doing well while you were away and on your clothes getting too big - that's always exciting Tracking for me is a vital part of my success. I don't write down portion sizes, or any 0 point foods, but I write down everything else. I've kept my food trackers from back on my first day of this process (over 2 years of them). I have food trackers that I did from other times that I was in WW too. I like to look back and see what I ate, and how I did. I know I'll have to track like this for the rest of my life if I want to successfully keep the weight off. I'm trying really hard not to use my extra daily points for anything but "healthy" foods and save my weekly points for "snacky" foods. I know it would be so easy just to eat a bunch of junk with the extra points, but I don't believe that would truly show me what weight I should maintain for the future. I've done well so far today. I had planned out my food yesterday, so that made it easier for the second day of maintenance. I need to work on a good food plan for the coming week. Take care everyone!

Good morning
wwlurker - WTG doing so good while you were away! I love wine that is my down fall at night. Yea on clothes getting bigger!!
cj59 - You have an great plan in place for maintenance. That's a really good idea on the trackers.
I bought a journal at my WW Center. I started out good with it, but need to be better. I am good at breakfast, lunch and snacks, but I need to work on dinner.
Met my step goal yesterday and will do the same today.

Hi everyone! cj59 - I love how you're still doing the same things you did to lose. sunrose49 - I much prefer to track on paper. It seems to make it more real. Today I am a bit off - I had an early work meeting, so breakfast was just a hardboiled egg and a mandarin orange. I missed my morning snack and had a too-large lunch, so now I feel sick. Today is also my DD's birthday, so there will be cupcakes this evening and her choice of dinner (pizza). I haven't decided whether I'll indulge in the pizza yet or fix something for myself. The cupcakes are a given. Hope everyone has a great, OP day!

Hello Everyone sunrose - Congratulations on getting in your steps. I have a FitBit and I love it, it's so motivating. I hope you enjoy using your journal. When I went to WW back in 2009-2010 I always bought the 3 month journal and used it. wwlurker - Hope you manage well for your DD's birthday tonight. Hope you can fit in the pizza if you want it. I understand about the cupcake I'm doing well today and staying on track. I made some homemade bread, and while it scares me a little bit to do something like that, I made sure to portion it out and I've already froze half of it. The other half I will split up among today and tomorrow and I budgeted for the points. I want to be able to make things like this from time to time and enjoy them within my daily eating allowance. I've done that over the last two years and I especially want to be successful at doing that during maintenance and beyond.

Good morning! cj59 - I love homemade bread! I wasn't very much on plan yesterday. I had the pizza and cupcakes, and nachos in the evening. Today I am going to try my best to get back on track. I'm going to yoga tonight, then I'm going to get groceries, which we sorely need. Tomorrow is WI. I'm hoping for a small loss, but will understand if there isn't one; it hasn't been the best week for me. Hope everyone has a great, OP day!

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well on your plans
wwlurker - I hope you get a loss at your weigh in tomorrow and that you were able to get back on track today.
You might not want to watch this video about how easy this bread is to make
www.youtube.com/watch?v=yePMpoyXwys
I also want to try to make Cinnamon Raisin bread and Honey Oatmeal bread. This was just my second time making the white bread, so I'm feeling more comfortable with the process now.
sunrose - Hope you are doing well today
I'm doing well and staying on track with my maintenance (Day 4). I need to work on my food plan for the rest of the week since that helps give me a general idea of what I'm going to eat.

Good morning
cj59 WTG with staying on track! I love homemade bread. I'll have to check out your link. I use to love the 3 month journal they had before.
wwlurker hope DD had a good birthday. Good luck with your WI.
I'm meeting my daily steps. Able to get out more. Beautiful day here, tomorrow not so much. I hope to make it to my WW meeting tomorrow before the storms hit.

Good morning everyone! Today was my WI. I was up 1.2. I was expecting it but still disappointed. I didn't think that my week was that bad; I think some of it may be water retention. All I can do it keep at it, I guess. This week I am going to focus on meal planning and prep, as I think that was my weakness last week. cj59 - how are you finding maintenance so far? Does it feel like very little extra food? Or do you find those extra points make a difference? sunrose49 - good for you for meeting your daily steps! I've been trying to get mine in as well. Hope everyone has a great, OP day!

Hello Everyone
sunrose - Glad to hear you are meeting your daily steps I challenge myself all the time to get in more steps.
wwlurker - I know it doesn't always help when you've gained weight, but I hope that you take the success you've had in changing your eating and habits as a positive even if it doesn't show on the scale
It's Day 5 of maintenance and I'm doing well. It is nice to have more daily points to eat food. I find myself still thinking I only have 20 points a day and have to work at readjusting my thinking. Maybe I shouldn't get too used to it in case I gain at my next weigh-in and have to cut the points back
I'm still trying to use the extra points for more healthy foods, although I did treat myself to a fast food lunch today, but I could fit it into my daily points.

Good morning everyone! cj59 - I'm thinking that you're going to be able to add even more points - you were still losing quite well on 20/day. I'm trying to shake off my gain from yesterday. Sure enough, this morning my scale was down a pound. I don't think it was a true gain. Last night I did some unhealthy emotional eating. I am a bit disappointed with that. It's something that I haven't really been doing lately. Today I have a presentation to give and a luncheon to attend. Hopefully whatever I eat is plan friendly. I haven't decided whether to work late tonight and I brought my gym bag just in case I decide to go to the gym or yoga tonight. Hope everyone has a great, OP day!

Good morning
wwlurker - I know a gain is disappointing. That's great you are down today like you said not a true gain. Good luck today with the luncheon!
cj59 - sounds like you are doing good on maintenance so far. It is an adjustment at first.
It is raining here today with nasty storms later. I live in Maryland. So it will be the TM today. Maybe some weights too.
