Welcome to our 2020 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.
The main focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is to commit ourselves to success, one day at a time, one hour at a time....success breeds success! Follow a healthy food plan, exercise and stay AF.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment for the entire challenge is the way to go, but day by day is also a way to go. No one is cut from the challenge, and if you don't want to be part of the challenge, you are still welcome to post.

ALMOST TIME TO SWITCH FROM MY DAILY ANXIETY TO MY FANCY CHRISTMAS/NEW YEAR ANXIETY OR CHOOSE ACCOUNTABILITY NEW CHALLENGE November 1 through December 31
Accountability: experiencing consequences for performance or actions. Accountability is essential for an organization, for a society, and for a person. Anxiety: a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome.
In other words, with accountability, a person will assume ownership of their own action because they will face consequences. With anxiety, a person will put enormous pressure on themselves by worry or fear.
Accountability is what we’ll call it, but think of it as both incentive and insurance. It helps to keep one in control and not let anxiety take over. The Anxiety will not get you anywhere. The holidays are coming and no amount of crash dieting or excessive eating/drinking or letting stress take over, will delay the inevitable. Establishing accountability helps us to stay the course, even when our former ways tempt us. If a little accountability is good, and more is better, then let’s go all in on this challenge. Leave the anxiety out of the equation.
What should we be accountable for in this challenge? Pick one, all, or anything in between. Feel free to add your own accountability goal and let others join you.
ACCOUNTABILITY CHOICES!
FRESH START MONDAY! What is your accountability for the week? What anxiety will you let go of?
MOVE MORE ACCOUNTABILITY Every little bit helps and definitely helps anxiety.
SLEEP ACCOUNTABILITY Have you established a routine?
NUTRITION ACCOUNTABILITY Ugly and good days Drink more water Drink your height in water….68 inches tall equals 68 ounces of water….add 8 ounce every seven days One or more fruit daily One or more vegetable daily Track nutritional intake Grocery List Share a healthy recipe Low Sugar, limit added sugar to 24 grams or less Pre lose the five pound holiday gain AF/AIM/AIE
JOURNAL YOUR NUTRITION ACCOUNTABILITY
HAPPINESS ACCOUNTABILITY
What did you do for yourself today? Motivational quote
HABIT ACCOUNTABILITY What new habit are you establishing?
CHECK IN DAILY ACCOUNTABILITY Scale of 1 -5 …how is your day going? Just say NO - not saying yes to every request will help to control anxiety.
TIME MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTABILITY Need to do, should do, want to do Organize yourself with lists. Lists can help reduce anxiety.
Let's be accountable and supportive to each other. As always no judgement, just encouragement, and if needed, tough love though we are usually toughest on ourselves. Set your accountability goals and let's get to work. Let’s be healthier versions of ourselves come January 1.

We walked at the clubhouse, where they have removed the leaves from the walking paths and most of the grassy areas. Called the Tipton county clerk's office again about the marriage certificate, got the voicemail again. I'm going to try leaving a message on a different extension today, if no answer will see if my brother (who lives in Tipton county) has any ideas. Election drama continues in Georgia as the audit uncovered around 4,000 votes not counted. Biden still won the state, but by about 800 less votes than previously reported. Not that it matters, he didn't need Georgia to win. We bought a 13 pound turkey for Thanksgiving. The new reports about shortages of smaller birds had me nervous.
Murphy- Yay for your finds at the Dollar Tree and getting HOA stuff done. It will be good for Callie to have you around more when you retire.
Liz- Sorry about your forgotten post. WTG for all the steps while shopping.
Jan- Yay for leftovers! Glad Best Buy was able to fix your laptop. Do you have your pictures?
GG- WTG for the on track week. Yikes, sounds like you will need surgery on your carotids.
Cindy- Sorry about the migraine. Hugs!
Cathy- WTG AF, OP, walked, scale down, visualizing ultimate weight goal. I also wonder who takes the rocks and shells.

Good Morning all. I'll be leaving @8 to head up north. Hope to meet up with my sis at some point, maybe lunch or just a grocery shop together to chat. Thinking if I find a small tree that I could put up on a table I would do that this year, and then put my artificial one someplace. Time will tell. I hooked up a small TV my friend gave me in the craft room with a ROKU thinking maybe it will get me upstairs more and away from the TV cursing and yelling downstairs. I think DS thinks it's a sport but I know it's wearing on my brain and is part of the A trigger. Yesterday I watched a bit of Andy Griffith while marching around, much more relaxing than CNN. Computer seems to be working well, I'll keep recreating bookmarks etc as I use them, just glad my pictures are here and now they are also saved on an external drive. I seriously need to go through and edit and delete a lot! Hoping the drive to my "happy place" inspires me to keep working on my health and happiness. Woke up a few times in the night thinking about what's next up there, floors, fireplace, never ends, and then where will the $$ come from. At least those thoughts can be put away until spring. My tax guy contacted me about working in January. I guess a lot of folks aren't sure they'll return. He said they are putting up the plexi barriers, everyone wears masks. Said I'd let him know after Christmas. There may be some work that could be done at home. I would like the $$ but need to see if the Covid # get any better by then. Need to get cleaned up and ready to roll Hope you all have a great Hump Day!! Jan
Amy I need to look for a turkey breast this week, just no room in the freezer, hope I can find one! I'm afraid the crazy drama is going to continue way into January and then Biden is going to have a huge mess to clean up after the tantrums end. GL with the marriage certificate.
Murphy I agree, Callie will be happy when you are retired. Do you think you would ever get another dog?
GG Good luck with the scale this morning. Scary but good to know about the health issues and now you can get them taken care of. Hugs
Cindy Sorry about the headache, hope the Dr. has some answers this morning.
Cathy I think visualizing the bigger picture is a great idea, and yes, even then it will become a new journey to maintain. Rollovers come if you don't eat your daily points. I get 23 so if I eat 21 I get 2 to add to the next day, up to 4 can carry over. I'm pretty far in the hole this week so I will be drinking my water, walking whenever I can and sticking to high protein, energy foods like you until the weekend. You sound happy and in a good place right now.
Hi Liz and Carole.

Good morning!
I have been on a roller coaster ride with A and food. Stupid me, I bought Hood's Golden Eggnog which I really shouldn't have in the house because I always add the A and nutmeg to it! My goal today is no A and no eggnog! I am planning on making chili today getting some knitting done. I didn't work on the blanket yesterday and need to make up that time. The "big" blanket is regular yarn just the size of a full size bed, definitely not crib size that I why I want to get it finished.
Amy~ Does Tipton County have a web site that you could request a copy on line. Our city has a lot of on-site options such as ordering a building permit, paying taxes on-line, etc.? I LMAO with this morning's QOTD, I was up at 5:04 for that very reason!
Cindy~ I hope your dr. can get to the bottom of your migraines, maybe logging food and activity might help to see what may trigger them.
Murphy~ Glad you are taking Callie to the vet, I hate watching them get old. Another dog might be a good idea for a companion for both you and Callie. I can't believe I have gone this long without getting another puppy. My plan is definitely next spring or summer. How is your back doing?
Jan~ Ok, what is ROKU??? I am trying not to watch too much CNN, I have been limiting myself to Chris Cuomo and Don Lemon which not sure if that is a good idea watching all the negative carp before I go to sleep, lol!
Cathy~ Like your vision for your journey. Congrats on your weight loss! (((HUGS))) GG~ Yay for the weight loss. Glad you are going to see a vascular surgeon soon, get it over with and be on the road to recovery quickly!
Carole~ Hope your Dad is still recovering nicely. How is Lexi doing? Happy belated 21st birthday to Ty! Wow 21!
I can't believe I have already been up over 3 hours, this is going to be a long day! Have a great one!

Liz ROKU is a little device you can plug into the tv and it will pick up you WIFI in the house, it has some free channels, and then we use You Tube TV as our cable. Like apple tv or firestick I guess. Have a good knitting day. I'M no A today either, I told DH even if I"m beging and rolling around on the carpet No excuses!! Let's do this.

ACCOUNTABILITY NOT ANXIETY! DON'T OVERWHELM YOURSELF... Step by step brings results!
Countdown to retirement - 43 days!
Hi all! I got busy at work this morning and totally forgot to get on here early!
Amy - I bought 2 boneless turkey breasts to cook and take to the family dinner a couple of weeks ago. I wouldn't mind cooking a small turkey for myself but I'm determined to clean out the freezers before adding anything else in! Even if it means tossing some food that I doubt I will ever eat!
Jan - I am sure at some point I would get another dog or a cat. I did the appointment made for Callie for the day after Thanksgiving. My vet isn't allowing anyone into the building yet. They come out to the car and get your pet. I did make sure that I could at least talk with the vet on the phone to let them know what I'm seeing and why I'm concerned.
GG - Doggy Alzheimer's is exactly what it seems like! I have to look back at the original vet records I got on her but I think she is 13 or 14. Chi's usually live longer than that. I'm so glad you are making an appointment with a vascular doctor!
Cindy - hope the migraine let up. I'm glad you already had an appointment with the doctor. Do you have a prescription med for your migraines or just try to tough it out like I have? I really should have talked with the doctor but I never seem to remember because I don't have a headache when I'm there! Dumb on my part!
Cathy - It makes the day brighter to have that attitude of gratitude doesn't it?
Liz - Eggnog is a delicious treat and like you, I prefer it with a little bourbon mixed in! I had already decided that I would not be allowing myself any this year! Too tempting! LOL I'm already psyching myself up to not be expecting champagne for New Year's Eve or to celebrate retirement too!
I am planning some stuff to do my first week off from work! Nothing extravagant - just day trips. A couple of trips to the mountains if the weather is nice enough and I want to take a long drive in the area close to my home town. Kind of revisiting my old stomping grounds! I'm just so looking forward to not having to check in with anyone! LOL We have choir practice tonight. Everyone have a great rest of your day! Murphy

What will you be accountable for today?
Move More Accountability: good steps yesterday, not so good today so far
Sleep Accountability: getting up earlier than I need to...wish it would stop!
Nutrition Accountability: what's nutrtion? JK
Journal Accountability: just need to start!
Happiness Accountability: okay
Habit Accountability: Ummmmmmmmmm
Check in Daily Accountability: I'm back!
Time Management Accountability: Need some discipline!
Hey Everyone!
Going to do some personals from memory so...
Amy, how is the decrease of prednisone working out? Good I hope! Years ago I ran into the same problem with the marriage certificate vs license. I did get the license but I really need to figure out where I put it oh so many years ago. Good luck. Loved the story of Annie and the rug. Love the rocks. I saw that there was a book online about painting rocks. Thankfully we don't have a Krispy Kreme nearby.
Cathy, has the lockdown started? The sandcranes tour (?) sounds fantastic. Glad that DS and her DH will be with their son on Thanksgiving.
GG, hope the visit with PCP goes well. Just concerned. Hope DH is feeling better and is getting his BP down!
Jan, will you and DH have to go pick up the car? tow it back home with extra engine in tow? I would worry about the kittens being outside also. Enjoy your time at your "happy place". Good luck with the Christmas tree! You may have to hide from DH's TV watching since if all continues Joe's way, he still won't take office until 1/20...lots of TV! (I know you know that😃) Airpods for Christmas?
Liz, how long will the OT last? Is Isabel a family name? I like eggnog with brandy and I like brandy way too much to be an option.
Carole, hugs, no offense here...hugs to Lexie and Anthony...not an easy decision no matter how much the brain says it is the right decision for them. Just hugs! I'm sure you will have your Dad talk to the doctor about the bathroom trips. After my DB's prostate surgery, he had problems...he is now having some other surgery to correct the bathroom problem.
Murphy, how is your back? Yay for your lab work. How is Callie doing today? Glad she has a vet visit coming up. Has Judy moved in? I don't take meds for migraines. Yesterday's was one of the worse. I get migraines periodically but also migraines from "good" dark chocolate and I had made Ghirardelli brownies for a friend of DS. I ate some scraps and head exploded. I did talk to doc about it this morning and she wanted to give me meds but I just don't want another med to the the muddy mess I do take. I have never had days of them like you have so maybe you might put it on your list to ask the doctor about....my DSIL has been hospitalized for them.
So got a call from doctor's office to see if I could come in earlier....so I did. Gave up blood, had a flu shot, a pneumonia shot, and was told since I was on Medicare, I had to get the shingles shot from a pharmacy since it is covered under Medicare Part D. Had a chest x-ray, lungs clear. Talked to my RA doctor and she strongly feels that my problems are with my infusion. I have another infusion the first week of December and am going to have it and see if I have same problems and in the meanwhile, she will work with my insurance to see what else would be covered. She has added methotrexate back to the mix and stopped one of the meds. The RA is causing muscle weakness and is limiting joint movement so I need to be much smarter about how I do stuff. Neither doctor said it but obviously if I lost weight it can only help. So that's my story.
Admit to being tired and think I will veg for the evening and go for an early bed time.
Hugs to all, Cindy

Hi girls. We had a really good day at school. The PCP really didn’t have much to say. He did say that it was the internal one they are worried about @80%, not the 90% one. 🤷🏼♀️I left with them calling a surgeon for me in Pittsburgh, and now just wait. For once I’m not scheduling my appointments around grands!

Wednesday: AF/OP/60 minutes walking while reading/scale down/<174.8> this morning
Sun was nice yesterday. I made progress on reading, reviewing, and a few other things. I am enjoying only counting, weighing and measuring the items not on the power food list while following the old Weight Watchers Core Plan. We have leftovers for lunch that I am looking forward to and it will be a good day!
QUESTION: Reading comments about eggnog+ or champagne on New Year or triggers...I was wondering if any of you substitute and still have say eggnog with rum flavoring or sparkling apple cider instead of champagne or make faux-cocktails. I know growing up in a church where alcohol was prohibited we had a lot of punch and when I entertained at home here for say Christmas I would always have cranberry juice or apple juice with diet-7-up or sparkling water for the teetotalers in the group. So, is it better to NOT have anything that reminds of the real thing or is it better to find a substitute that works at home and in social situations?
AMY: Your monkeys discussing why they get up in the morning had me laughing and telling those monkeys it is not ONLY in the morning but through the night, too! I hope you get the marriage license...I finally found mine in an envelope in another envelope in a drawer so did not have to reorder it. I remember ordering extra birth certificates for my children one tiime...just in case. If I were walking the trail with small children and they commented on the rocks/shells gone missing I might make up a story about woodland fairies taking them to fairyland to enhance their environment
JAN: I saw the broken window and dead bird...was it a bird of prey? I am glad you made the trip, cleaned up and closed the broken window to keep the elements and the varmints out of your cabin! Did you get a tree? I have a small artificial one that I put on a table and a big one that I haven't gotten out as often now that I am not having people here for the big Christmas lunch like we used to do. I am in a good place because, I think, I am seeing this as forever and not just a diet to reach goal weight as quickly as possible. I like the idea of setting up your craft-cave and making it cozy, a place that brightens your life and allows you to avoid triggers.
LIZ: I used to use flavorings when dieting BUT there are no rum flavorings here in Lebanon...if there were I might make eggnog...maybe? I can see why the eggnog would be a trigger best avoided but if you can find the flavoring...it might be an alternative?
MURPHY: Attitude of gratitude is a good thing for sure! Is it possible to go through your freezer and instead of tossing things out donating them to the cook for the motel ministry to use in some way for one of the meals provided? Glad you have an appointment for Callie.
GG: I hope the appointment with the PCP went well and that you find a good vascular surgeon. Glad to hear that school is going well for your grandchildren - and you Hooray for the drop on the scale!
CINDY: The lockdown is in place and the police are giving out tickets to people in cars when they should not be in them. We are home so no worries. I don't see us going out until December unless we need more produce. We are out of tomatoes but have tomato paste so can make do...also have dried tomatoes. My sister said the trip to see the sand cranes was lovely...that the birds rise as a huge flock and settle in for the night. Their voices are like french horns...or so she said. She is down a bra size or two inches around from a 36 to a 34 but the cup has stayed the same. It sounds like there is a lot of information to process after the visit to the doctor. I hope a good program moving forward will be found for you!
