Welcome to our 2020 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.
The main focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is to commit ourselves to success, one day at a time, one hour at a time....success breeds success! Follow a healthy food plan, exercise and stay AF.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment for the entire challenge is the way to go, but day by day is also a way to go. No one is cut from the challenge, and if you don't want to be part of the challenge, you are still welcome to post.

ALMOST TIME TO SWITCH FROM MY DAILY ANXIETY TO MY FANCY CHRISTMAS/NEW YEAR ANXIETY OR CHOOSE ACCOUNTABILITY NEW CHALLENGE November 1 through December 31
Accountability: experiencing consequences for performance or actions. Accountability is essential for an organization, for a society, and for a person. Anxiety: a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome.
In other words, with accountability, a person will assume ownership of their own action because they will face consequences. With anxiety, a person will put enormous pressure on themselves by worry or fear.
Accountability is what we’ll call it, but think of it as both incentive and insurance. It helps to keep one in control and not let anxiety take over. The Anxiety will not get you anywhere. The holidays are coming and no amount of crash dieting or excessive eating/drinking or letting stress take over, will delay the inevitable. Establishing accountability helps us to stay the course, even when our former ways tempt us. If a little accountability is good, and more is better, then let’s go all in on this challenge. Leave the anxiety out of the equation.
What should we be accountable for in this challenge? Pick one, all, or anything in between. Feel free to add your own accountability goal and let others join you.
ACCOUNTABILITY CHOICES!
FRESH START MONDAY! What is your accountability for the week? What anxiety will you let go of?
MOVE MORE ACCOUNTABILITY Every little bit helps and definitely helps anxiety.
SLEEP ACCOUNTABILITY Have you established a routine?
NUTRITION ACCOUNTABILITY Ugly and good days Drink more water Drink your height in water….68 inches tall equals 68 ounces of water….add 8 ounce every seven days One or more fruit daily One or more vegetable daily Track nutritional intake Grocery List Share a healthy recipe Low Sugar, limit added sugar to 24 grams or less Pre lose the five pound holiday gain AF/AIM/AIE
JOURNAL YOUR NUTRITION ACCOUNTABILITY
HAPPINESS ACCOUNTABILITY
What did you do for yourself today? Motivational quote
HABIT ACCOUNTABILITY What new habit are you establishing?
CHECK IN DAILY ACCOUNTABILITY Scale of 1 -5 …how is your day going? Just say NO - not saying yes to every request will help to control anxiety.
TIME MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTABILITY Need to do, should do, want to do Organize yourself with lists. Lists can help reduce anxiety.
Let's be accountable and supportive to each other. As always no judgement, just encouragement, and if needed, tough love though we are usually toughest on ourselves. Set your accountability goals and let's get to work. Let’s be healthier versions of ourselves come January 1.

Yesterday was my day to feel a bit off. I generally wake up to stiff muscles and aches in my shoulders and right hand, which get better as the day goes along. We went to walk at the clubhouse, came back and had breakfast, then I was pretty much on the couch until mid afternoon. I felt chilled and achy, so we lit the fireplace, which helped with the chill. I felt pretty good by dinnertime. Earlier in the day I went to the Tipton county website, which wasn't much help other than I found an email address for the county clerk. I sent her an email requesting the marriage certificate. She responded later in the day. Apparently their office is closed due to someone testing positive for Covid. She said she would call me when the office re-opens. It's already been a week since my first voicemail, so hopefully they'll be back open after Thanksgiving at the latest. Since I had not gotten to 10,000 steps by the time I was getting ready to take a bath and go to bed, I did laps in the basement. Annie watched me from her heated bed, probably thinking I was crazy. Hopefully I will be less of a couch potato today. I've noticed a lot of neighbors have their Christmas decorations up. I'm looking forward to decorating for Christmas but want to wait until after Thanksgiving.
Murphy- Hope you are feeling more in the groove today. Careful not to overdo it with your back this weekend.
Jan- Thank goodness you went to check on the cabin again- what a mess! Enjoy your fresh cut tree.
GG- Hope you hear from the doctor soon. GL at the attorney. LOL over your gesture story.
Cindy- Hugs!
Cathy- WTG AIM, OP, walking. My first thought regarding "gesture" was similar to yours, kind of like Vanna White on Wheel of Fortune as she turns the letters.

Good morning all. Glad it's Friday and tomorrow my WW week will reset. That doesn't mean I have to wait to do better, just will be glad to see my points back. Just couldn't get motivated yesterday to do anything. Wrote a check for the roof and went to the Post Office, my big accomplishment! Feeling better this morning and will get myself out and about. Want to drop some bags at the thrift store and clean out some more tubs. Then maybe try to wrangle my tree in and find a place for it. Supposed to get colder and wet this weekend so would be good to get some decorations up outside before that happens. Saw a number of people hanging lights etc yesterday when it was nice out. Talked to DS last night. They are all decorated for Christmas, he sent pictures, so cute. Even the puppy had a plaid outfit and little santa boots! Guess Mack liked the Pig I sent a bit to much. DS said after carrying it around and playing he finally chewed the foot off. Guess he needs the sturdier toys! Need to spend some dedicated time knitting on my stocking today. I've promised to have it before Christmas and have to mail it to Seattle so time to focus. Hope you all have a good day. Jan
Amy Good that you can march around the basement, I need to get back up to my 10,000 steps a day. Glad Annie enjoyed the show.
Murphy I like the idea of taking a cushion to sit on if needed at choir. I heard they replaced the chairs at the Senior Center with all hard chairs too so they can be cleaned. I know a lot of the ladies said they'd bring a pad to sit on.
GG Ha ha, I bet you surprised Jack!! We need to do a will and trust too, just keep putting it off. Will move it to the top of "the list"
Cindy Hope family is good and just needed a good listener. Hope you check in today.
Cathy I've pretty much resigned myself to knowing I can't be a small taster and put back in the cupboard person. Best when it stays out of the house. I wonder if I was also able to give up sugar if it would help with the A cravings. When I don't drink I just want sweets all the time, all about the carbs I guess. Good for you finding your tasting glass.
Hi to all.

Hi girls. No news yet. I am going to call this afternoon to see what’s going on. Who knows, their offices could be closed. We did have our legal appointment by phone, so that’s in motion. I did talk to DS. The kids are now on fully remote schooling until after Christmas. I think we all knew it was coming with Covid on the rise.
Cindy: Hope you are having a good day!
Cathy: As I read your post, I was envisioning all those wine glasses filled up with wine! My first thought was, OH NO! Lol Glad you found the perfect one and know you can stop! That would not work for me!
Amy: Your picture today took me by surprise! Lol Annie probably thought what is wrong with you, girl?? Lots of people have their outside stuff up around here. So much better than doing it when it’s cold!
Jan: You mentioned the new things on the app the other day. I especially like the checkin and then setting goals and having them on your MyDay page to remind me!
Today is a lazy day for me. I am cold and tired. Just can’t seem to get moving.

Nutrition Accountability: this has not come together this month
Journal Accountability: just need to start!
Happiness Accountability: better than okay
Habit Accountability: doing better on the water and cutting back the soda
Check in Daily Accountability: I'm back!
Time Management Accountability: Need some discipline!
Hi Everyone!
Amy, glad you were able to get your steps in...I'm all for laps in the house...it makes me walk up stairs. Glad Annie enjoyed watching. I'm not doing Christmas till after Thanksgiving either. Debating about a tree because I am fairly sure Ainsley will try to climb it or at least swat at ornaments. My next door neighbor has her house decorated and the lights are on at night. It just seems like Thanksgiving is being skipped over.
Jan, sounds like DS and GF are having fun with the puppy. Good luck with the tree, hope someone helps you. That was amazing about the bird at the cabin. I'm glad you followed your instinct and went to check on the cabin. My cardinal is back, all grown up, and still bouncing off the window....I'm just assuming it is the same one. I never thought of botox...something to consider.
GG, glad you are having a lazy day but sorry that you are cold and tired. I wish the doctor would get back to you. Glad you were able to get your legal stuff going.
Murphy, how are you doing? How is your back?
Carole, how are you doing?
Cathy, that is a great idea with the wine glasses. I think the average wine glass holds half a bottle.
Liz, how are you feeling?
Yesterday I went out early to grocery shop. Some things I use all the time were on sale at Kroger's and I figured stock up. While driving a call came up on my phone...couldn't figure out who it could be and didn't answer. I get to the store, spend about an hour because I keep debating on stuff. The people that were coming on Thanksgiving were iffy about coming, so we cancelled. As I walk to my car I get a text from DS asking me if I got Kay's message. What message? Oh that was the phone call. Kay is my DH's half sister..she is 55. What could she possibly want? Her oldest son is going to college in TX. I'm thinking she is calling about visiting us...finally called her back and surprise surprise she was inviting DS and me to the Cowboys game on Thanksgiving Day. Kay is a force of nature with her own very unique perspective. We haven't seen her in 12 years?? Her husband has rented a suite and though it won't be complete social distancing, the suite is huge! So it would be their family and us and food galore...she told me she is going all out! It is the new stadium and by being in the suite....there is a bathroom! When I called her back, she talked for over 90 minutes. My thought is this is probably the only opportunity that I will get to be in a suite at the AT&T Stadium. It certainly isn't in my budget. Wish it was the Patriots but Cowboys and Indians...being politically insensitive.
So I started freezing food that I had purchased for Thanksgiving and boxed up stuff that I could donate for the Thanksgiving drive. Then roasted poblanos, serranos, and cut up cilantro. I need to stay away from grocery stores. My phone kept buzzing and again didn't recognize the number and no message left. After about an hour I finally answered. It is my cousin and all I can think is her mother has died. She hadn't. My aunt moved in with her after my uncle died. My uncle was my father's youngest brother. We were not close but since moving my aunt has been calling me every couple of days and I have tried to call her once a week. She has tried talking to other relatives but none respond. Well she hasn't died but has been in and out of the hospital and my cousin feels when the doctors say, well she's 80...they mean we aren't going to be bothered. I think my cousin needed to vent...for two hours, then took a break and called for another hour. I haven't seen this cousin in about 20 years. We aren't exactly a close family.
My brother called, his surgery has been scheduled for Monday. It is to fix a problem that occurred after the prostate surgery. I really didn't need details. A one night stay at the hospital.
Looks like dinner is being provided tonight...they had a potluck luncheon at DS's work and as always too much food and no one wants to take it home. Stuff that hasn't been opened will go with the food donation...doesn't everyone want tostitos chips for Thanksgiving.
I hope everyone is doing well. Hugs, Cindy
