Hi Ann and All,
Thanks for opening the cafe this TGIF day! You sound well rested, Ann, and in good spirits. Have a good visit to Hannaford. I agree that it is a nice day for walking.
We will go to the Cape tomorrow. I'll stay there next week and chip, chip, chip away at stuff. I have Friday off after Thanksgiving so that'll be nice, too. I have a lot to pack up food wise to take down this time. I WILL be glad to be in one place. We are getting too old for all this running back and forth.
I'm nearly finished with Deacon King Kong and I think I will read another of his books. His writing is so wonderful - like poetry and so descriptive and fun to read. The characters have great names like Sportcoat and Bunchy. It takes place in NYC in the projects in the 1960s and earlier.
California Sophie drew an adorable picture about what she is thankful for this Thanksgiving. She listed Grandma, Mom, Grampa, Doug, Daisy and Bianca (their new Frenchie). :-) She even had my glasses all the doggie ears correct. She's an observant little girl. :-) Made my day.
I feel a little high strung today and I think a nice walk will be a great remedy. Lots of work with the homebuilder last night and other business.
Ann, glad you liked the hot dog stories! ha ha. Breakfast today was Cheerios and coffee with a banana. Lunch will be a salad with chicken or ham on top. Dinner will be that delicious chicken pie and a small slice of apple pie as a treat. I would like to get to the orchard to get some nice apples as I am enjoying them as an afternoon snack with a dab of peanut butter or that chocolate hummus I have.
TTFN...

Good Morning, WW Friends ~
TGIF!! We also had very mild temps. It is mid-morning and already 57 dg with a high in the mid 60's! I think today would be a great day for me to get out for a walk. I slept well and even slept in until 7 which was a real treat!
Our hot dog supper turned out very well. I made corn as a side and I had the dog in bun and Tater Tots. The brand I brought home turned out very good indeed! DH also had cottage cheese with his and enjoyed it tremendously! I had grilled a whole package of beef brisket hot dogs, a package of chicken/gouda/apple sausages and two sirloin burger patties. The extra meats are packaged and in the freezer. They really make for quick meals when we need them.
I have had my first upset for the day! I went online to order some Splenda from Sam's Club. While on their site, I decided to renew our membership. I thought I'd be so clever and save writing out a check and using a stamp. BUT it denied my credit card (What?) and so I tried it again and it denied it again. Within minutes I got a call from the fraud department at my Credit Union and a nice young man asked me about the transactions, and then told me he could reset my credit card (immediately) and remove the two "declined" transactions - and authorize my Splenda order. Wow! They are not only thorough, they are quick!! This was my first experience like this with them, and I am pleased!
Ann ~ I love that you have warmer weather. We are certainly enjoying a few days of it as well. Your sirloin strip steaks sound delicious! That was our Friday the 13th treat last week. I read a little bit yesterday, but plan to read more today!
Judy ~ I am glad things are moving along with the house. I know it must be overwhelming, but satisfying at the same time. I don't need the heavier coat today or tomorrow, but come next week we'll be back in seasonal weather. I got the recipe for Chicken Taco Soup from a post on one of the Instant Pot FB pages. It is very basic: 2 cans beans, 1 can corn, 1 can Rotel, 1 can diced tomatoes, 2 cans chicken broth, Taco & Ranch seasoning, frozen chicken breasts. Cook manual pressure 10 minutes, NR 10 minutes. DISCLAIMER: I have never made this, so can't vouch for it :-)
Pam ~ I can understand your plan for mailing gifts. Postage rates are astronomical, but what I would dread most is standing in the PO lines at holidays. I wonder if they'll even be doing that this year?? I just thought of that.
Our Governor is talking lock-down and of course, people are screaming!! I was so disappointed when the young wife of our QB on the Lions (football team) posted a long rant about "dictatorship" online yesterday. Of course it spread like wildfire. The feedback was unbelievable. Many people thinking she has the right to say it and many questioning with her life of privilege with millions and abundant household help, what is she giving up? I just wish people who may be influential would stop and think before they say things that may become the newest fad?? There is already enough division in our country without 'celebrities' adding to it (just my opinion). Maybe I just think with celebrity comes responsibility. Stepping down now .....
My scale showed a loss this morning, but my official WW WI isn't until next Saturday. I am hoping the Center is open! For today I made a phone date with a GF that I had a lunch date with for today that she and I agreed to cancel, even before they closed indoor dining in our state. I think it will be much more comfortable to chat in the comfort of my chair without a mask on. There are a lot of perks to staying home, if we just look at the positive.
BBL. Make a great day!!

Judy I do feel well rested and less stressed out. All good things. Once you get your 'head' in the right place...the rest of you follows. Takes time for me as at times my mind just goes both nutz and dark! I'm slowly climbing back out of that funk and pray I lose the direction to go back there! Yes it will be wonderful for you and DH to be 'settled' in one place. I cringe whenever I have to leave Athol LOL...nope, not a traveler at all. Traffic scares me. You'd think I was in a horrible accident but actually I never was. Perhaps in a previous life Your book sounds delightful. I can picture the drawing that Sophie made for you. Wonderful that she is so observant. That is a good trait to have. I'm sure the walk with this wonderful weather will work its magic on you. Yup, those hotdog stories warmed my heart. My mom was a HUGE hotdog fan...not so much the others but we would always find time to enjoy one together Sue happy that you too enjoyed your 'dogs' Nice that you have more for a later date. I never think to cook up more hotdogs...probably because I would end up EATING THEM up at once sitting...I really can't be trusted LOL. Sue you and I are absolutely on the SAME PAGE with celebrities spewing on who they endorse and what their political views are. I have crossed off MANY on my list of ones that I enjoyed and because of that reason. Way I see it is singers actors and the like are there to entertain ME...and I don't care about what side of the fence they are on. I did go a little overboard at one time and donated loads of CD's from those that felt the need to 'talk'.......But whatever.....now when I want to listen to a CD (which is rarely due to Alexa) I have a clean palate LOL. One perk of 'staying home' is the fact that Carl and I will be able to pay off our car loan!!!! That will be our Christmas present to ourselves this year. It never dawned on me the extra $$ we spent on 'stuff' that we didn't really need. Lots of it was spent going out to eat just for something to do. Now we walk or I read while Carl does one of his many hobbies and then there is miss LuLa that we walk. Happy the BJ's drama came out well and so quickly. Gotta love good customer service. I have no clue what is going to happen once my free etools runs out. I am not going to weigh in at any meeting...I do it all just online and I don't zoom so there's that. I know that WW has updated their app but I am not seeing anything different. I guess I'll just wait and see...should they 'take away' my lifetime status, so be it. At this stage of the game, I know what to do and feel that I have more experience than most leaders or coaches out there. Not bragging...just sayin' Really do need to get a move on. We are looking forward to the sirloin strip steak with baked potato (we split one) and mushrooms peppers and onions as a side. Will CBL

Hello friends!
I went to bed early last night and slept well after all my exercise in the fresh air and sunshine. After I had lunch and rested a while, I went out and finished hoeing the section of garden I had been working on. Then I hauled water to the green bean plants. I didn't want to use the sprinkler as I plan to work some more today and didn't want to be wallowing in mud. DH and I just returned from our favorite plant place, a few miles north of here. It was nice for him to be out of the house. We bought cabbage, bok choy and cauliflower plants and a satsuma tree for DSIL's Christmas gift. He is notoriously hard to buy for and loves satsumas. After lunch, I will pull up some butter bean plants that haven't produced well. Then I will use the roto-tiller and then plant our new plants and some beet seeds and put the sprinkler on them and the green onions, garlic and carrots I planted earlier. We haven't had any rain and the carrots and garlic haven't sprouted.
I was officially down .9, exactly what I had gained last week, lol. I am only 3 lbs. from goal and I feel like those 3 lbs. don't want to let go. It doesn't look like I will make goal prior to Thanksgiving, but I will keep on plugging away and try not to go too much overboard for Thanksgiving. As my favorite WW leader used to say, "It's Thanksgiving DAY, not Thanksgiving WEEK."
I splurged at breakfast this morning and had a sweet potato roll Debbie brought. It had pecans and icing and I shudder to think how many points it was. I ate it slowly and savored every bite. I have one left, as DH took one look and declined to spike his blood sugar that much. I think I will cut it in 4 and enjoy one bite for the next 4 days. I knew that roll wouldn't keep my satisfied until lunch, so I also had a yogurt and 2 TBS of muesli. Lunch will be gazpacho, a turkey and lettuce roll and an apple. Dinner will be hamburgers and air fryer FFs. After earning somewhere in the neighborhood of 18 fit points yesterday, I did enjoy a hotdog and half an avocado with my chili for dinner last night.
We got our ballots for the Dec.5 election today. Since there are no run-offs in our parish, one constitutional amendment was it for us. I have pretty much pledged to vote no on any constitutional amendments as most are totally unnecessary. The state constitution needs to be re-written, but the state legislature never sees fit to undertake the task. Because of past amendments, the only places left to cut the state budget in times of fiscal shortages are higher education and state-funded medical services. So stupid!
Make yourself a great day, Cher!

Hey again friends,
I am back from a nice long walk with D&D. We walked much longer than usual since it is so nice and included a couple hills. Huffing and puffing but we did it!
Sue, I could not agree more with you than the dopes who get mad at their ârightsâ being taken away by wearing a mask. And, those who are famous owe it to the population to set a good example. Sometimes you cannot save people from themselves! And thatâs okay if that is what they want, but itâs not okay to put all of us at risk. Nuff said. That is why it is perfectly okay to be rude when necessary today. I donât give a darn what they think.
Congratulations to your losses, Pam and Sue. All three of you are amazing! I went to another ZOOM WW meeting this morning because I need the boost for the weekend. I joined a Syracuse NY group. I look in places where I have lived in my life. One woman was from the town we lived in so that was fun. They were a very bright group with a fun leader. I may join again as they were so welcoming and nice.
Ann, hooray on paying off your car loan! It is amazing how much less we spend staying. I am getting more now with holidays and kids and I did get myself some new clothes and shoes, but for the most part, we are only buying groceries and paying regular bills. One big plus of COVID is a re-evaluation of life and what we can live without and what we DONâT want to go back to when itâs over.
Ann, you could totally teach WW and I agree that you know more and have more âsageâ advice than anyone regarding the program. Nothing speaks louder than your success. They did go over the new app at the Zoom and it has some features I like â âWhatâs in your fridge?â is a fun one where you put in a few ingredients and they pop out recipes for you. There is an âApp Academyâ to see the changes. Your dinner sounds great, Ann. My DH doesnât like steak sadly. I do enjoy it and I will have a nice ribeye when I really want one. But that is not too often. Heâs a funny guy â no steak, but likes burgers, no pork but likes sausages, no ham at all but likes bacon. LOL But there is so much he DOES like so itâs okay. I fool him sometimes with things like pork tenderloin.
Pam, I love the Cher term of endearment! Thanks for that. Your trip to the nursery sounded like fun. I'm off to the orchard a little later before dark.
Off to do a bit more work! Have a good day all.

Judy I never think to go to the orchard for apples...DUH...I get the ones that the orchard delivers to Hannaford Oh well. Today I picked up a tote of honeycrisp and fugi. Love them both and they will be gone sooner than you think Carl is not an apple person unless it's in pie a turnover or a crisp...catch my drift there yes that is the good side of COVID...makes you appreciate all that you have and you also realize all that you can do without. Win win situation. Yup and I also hear you on not apologizing for being rude to those that ARE rude. Nuff said about that Pam you are very garden efficient. Half of what you say you do is over my head LOL. I never had a garden be it floral or veggie, but always admire those that do. It's a lot of work and $$ I'm sure but you do enjoy the fruits of your labor so it's all good. That roll sounded decadent. Great idea to cut the last one in quarters to enjoy for the next 4 days. Anything with pecans or nuts in it and I'm all over it At Hannaford's I noticed a few items that were limited....mashed potatoes and potato products in a box, can gravy, disinfecting spray and I'm sure other items that I don't remember.......Nothing about TP or PT, however the selection was horrible....brands that sound like they came who knows where...never heard of them and they looked flimsy to boot. Luckily I didn't need any so I passed on by. Everything is now put away. Going to finish off online and then sit and read. CArl is out there now putting a lite on his snow blower as the one that is on there is very dim. He has a good day to play around with it and he LOVES doing that sort of thing.....

Back again!
I tilled 3 rows with the roto-tiller, which is like trying to control a rhinoceros on a leash, for me at least. Then I planted our cabbage, cauliflower, bok choy and beets.
Now, dinner is done, dishes are washing in the dishwasher, cats are fed and watered and I am showered and jammified. We are watching John Wayne in Rio Lobo and then I will read a bit before bed.
American Dirt is a riveting book, but the story is also horrifying, especially since we have a friend in Mexico City. It is a story of a woman trying to escape a drug cartel with her 8 year old son and the pervasiveness of the drug cartels in everyday life in Mexico. It's probably been more than 10 years since our last trip to Mexico and I remember meeting a Mexican couple who told us they used to vacation in one city, but no longer did because it was too dangerous, so they stuck to places frequented by American tourists because it was safer. Sad!
Ann - My dad was a big gardener and taught my DH, who has become a Master Gardener after taking courses through the County Extension Office. I am only doing this to fill my time and to make DH feel better when he looks at his garden. All the weeds were driving him crazy. He is used to spending half a day everyday in the garden. Being sedentary is very hard for him, so if this helps even a little I will be happy. He won't be allowed in the garden until the wound is fully healed due to the risk of infection from the soil. Congrats on paying off the car loan! We are also seeing extra $$ in the bank account. Unfortunately, camp repairs will probably eat it all up.
Judy - I am slowly checking out all the bells and whistles added to the WW app. One thing I don't understand is the sleep stuff. It supposedly automatically syncs with my Garmin, but the WW app always shows way less sleep than my Garmin. I think the WW app is only picking up REM and deep sleep and not the light sleep. Oh well, not a big deal. I once heard a talk by a Cajun motivational speaker entitled, "Make Yourself a Great Day, Cher!" about how our attitude usually determines what type of day we will have. He was a great comedian and inspirational speaker. And a school principal by day.
Sue - Like you, I take comfort when my credit card company intervenes. I'd rather they be overly cautious than let someone hack my account and spend thousands before they try to contact me and say, "Did you spend this?"
Have a great evening and restful sleep and I will "see" you in the morning.

Pam enjoy your movie and I thanks for filling in the blanks on how you got into gardening. I can see why you don't want DH in there until his wound is healed.
I spoke with my sister again. She sounded upbeat as we were hanging up. Her son was over earlier.
I don't see any changes on my android phone on the ww site. Any suggestions?
Sweet dreams.
