Welcome to the Clutter Patrol, formerly CLUTTERBUSTERS thread. We are a daily thread, Monday thru Friday, and we have a combined weekend edition Saturday and Sunday. We welcome new members and are a friendly, helpful and supportive group.
Our purpose is for support and sharing of tips and strategies in dealing with weight and clutter issues in our lives. Many feel that the two are often tied together. So, we will lend a caring ear, and hopefully give and learn tips to help all of us.
We want to remove at least 5 items or spend at least 15 minutes clutter busting today!
Remember, it didn't pile up in one day so it isn't going away in a day either. One organizer says: you don't have to stop everything to get organized, you just have to start somewhere.

Good morning,
I just got off the phone with the counties DOH and have an appointment scheduled for Wednesday morning. The gal on the phone was so helpful. She said too many people want to get a test done too soon because they are anxious, like the day after they find out about contact, and that can easily produce a false negative. The wait tine after exposure for testing should be 5-7 days. She also said I should be contacted by contact tracers in the next few days too.
They wonāt be closing the dealership because the risk of exposure us limited to our office. Just my boss, the 5 people that work in the office, the other cashier and myself. There may be a few more since one of the girls has 2 DBs that also work there. Contact with the public is very minimal, just walking thru the waiting room to the office. There is plexiglass between cashier and customers, they have no more than a minute exposure behind the glass when paying their bill. Other staff at the dealership donāt come into our office so no one else needs to get tested.
Iām really not worried. I have my mask on when I leave my car. I walk through the back office to the cashier area and start my work. I donāt go into the back office until I start getting ready to leave, everyone is gone already. I start at 3:30, everyone starts leaving at 4:00, by 6:00 Iām all alone until closing. Even when Iām alone, I have my mask on. Young man has been out most of the week, thatās why I think heās the one who tested positive. My exposure to him is pretty minimal. But - no one wears a mask, their desks are no more than 3 ft apart, and lots of talking going on. Iām sure that will change.
So thatās about it for my Covid report š

So it looks like Iām going to have some time to get things done around the house this week. Yesterday I was putting up a small shelving unit in my spare bedroom. I moved things around to fit it on one of the empty walks. I plan on putting my sweaters on one of the shelves, easy access and they wonāt have to get stuffed in a drawer. Iām also putting my slacks on one of the shelves, I never knew what to do with them. So Iāll continue to work in the spare room this weekend. I want to take everything out of the closet and sort through things, especially on the floor and on the top shelf. That is going to take time, and now I have it. Thatās project #1, more to follow.
Iāll probably do more laundry this weekend too. The curtains in my kitchen could use some freshening up, think itās been over a year since I put them up.
Obviously Iām going to do some time consuming, but needed tasks off my LONG list.
Ruth - Iām sure youāre glad that car is gone. Have fun with Mara this weekend.
Dottie - we had a nice day yesterday too. I used to be like that with things I was planning on donating. I would put things in a bin, then later go back and pull some stuff back out. Not anymore. Once itās in the donation bin, out it goes.
Martha - when I bring cereal boxes, even oatmeal into the pantry, I use a marker to put the use by date on it so I can see it clearly. That helps me use it on time. Sounds like a good work arrangement, sometimes in office, sometimes from home.
Breakfast time. Pancakes sound good, and Iāll grab a 2nd cup of coffee. Later ...

Joyce, sorry to hear about the possible exposure by someone in your office. I hope the mask protects you and that you get a clear reading. Unexpected time to get more done but I know you would rather be at work. Just think of it as extra āmeā time. Your projects sound quite doable with the extra time you now have.
Ruth, at least DS and DIL got something for the car and the main thing is it is gone from their property. Thatās scary about a truckers strike at this time of the year, hope it is just a rumor. I havenāt heard anything but donāt really follow those types of things. My hair loss isnāt due to my thyroid. Last fall I started on methotrexate for my psoriasis and about 4 weeks later I noticed that I was losing more hair than usual. The meds really helped the psoriasis and now Iām trying to get to a maintenance (lower) dose and so far I have had a few small problems but overall no major skin problems. Now I am taking 12.5 mg once a week and would like to get down to 5.0 or 7.5 mg, because of the side effects.
Martha, I agree with you about doing the odd jobs helps with learning more about how your office operates. Hope you have a good weekend.
Another nice day here. I need to head out about 12:30 to drop off some food at church for a food drive and then go to the local funeral home to drop off a bag of papers for the shredding event. I hope there isnāt a long line for the shredding event just glad that I found one locally. Iām making chicken noodle soup using the bone broth I made from the rotisserie chicken we had. I like using the instapot to make the broth and it comes out so good.

Good afternoon all. I got some quiet time this morning before Stan got up and then Mara woke up. Sheās been in a great mood all morning. Canāt believe sheāll be 3 tomorrow! She talks non-stop! Stan says now we can actually understand most of it!!
Joy, I canāt believe that they had everyone crammed into that little office with no masks required or that they didnāt space people out more. Sounds like the dealership has some work to do!!! Prayers that you donāt test positive. You take great precautions for yourself and that should help you a lot!!! You have great plans for your time while you are home!
Dottie, I wondered if it was that medicine that was causing your hair loss. Sometimes the side affects of these medicines are worse than the disease they are helping. Sounds like you have a good handle on your shopping and cooking for Thanksgiving. I need to pick up a bunch more things yet. I use jars of gravy (I hate making it and I rarely eat it) and my family is ok with the jar. And dinner rolls, and Tuesday Iāll get a pie from Costco. It is a nice big pie and only $5.99. Iāll send the leftovers with DIL. I paid for Maraās birthday cake and we got a little bit bigger one and will send those leftovers in to work with her. She has to work overnight both Thanksgiving eve and Thanksgiving night. So her co-workers will appreciate the left overs. And they wonāt end up on any of our hips!!
Martha, sounds like you really enjoy this office environment. Itās always good to see what the others do and learn all of the jobs. Thatās what I did when I started in the school district. When I didnāt have work to do of my own, Iād volunteer to help the others and learned more about how the offices operated. Then I ended up in the Athletic Office for 17 years.
Ok, almost time to get Mara down for a nap. Stan has been sleeping in his chair off and on for a while. I have laundry to take out of the dryer and more to put in there and in the washer. We ran to Walmart (Stan ran in to get his yogurt) and while he was in there I drove across the street and picked up our Target order. Was nice to have it all done in one trip. Hoping to go do a curbside pick up of my MaryKay order while Mara naps. May stop at the grocery store and pick up the rest of what I need for tomorrow and then Thursday.
Will check in later!

Good afternoon! Joy - Sorry that you won't be able to have Thanksgiving Day with DB/DSIL. The gal on DOH phone was very helpful. I'm glad you have some down time but wish it wasn't in this way. I like your idea about putting sweaters & slacks on shelves instead of drawers. Might just do that in spare room, which is also where all my clothes are. Dottie - I keep hearing about Insta-pots, what is the draw to them? Enjoy your nice weather. They do 'shred-days' every now & then. One of the local TV stations has a shredding company bring a truck. Limit to 2 grocery bags. We have a small one. But if I have lots of stuff, I possible could take it in to work. Kinda awkward tho with minimal people around. Ruth - I faced the store this morning. I was able to get 90% of what was on list. Had to do a substitution on a couple things but overall, good. I already had bought most of what needed for Thanksgiving so mainly resupplying the pantry. Spent enough that I got free turkey. Plus had bought one last week. I have White Chili in crockpot for dinner tonight. Pad Thai, Spaghetti, Cranberry Coffeecake, Chuckwagon Chili, Fish sandwich/tacos and of course Turkey dinner. Friday night dinner is always Turkey Day leftovers. By Saturday, the only thing left is the cooked turkey and it will be in freezer. The second turkey will get cooked in Feb/Mar or close to then. By the time I got home last night, I was more in line with WFH. When I was able to do it previously, it was voluntary. I didn't like it. Right now, it's almost mandatory. I don't have much choice so, grin & bear it time. Tuesday pm/Wednesday, I will cook pumpkin pie and pecan tarts for T-Day dinner. When turkey gets pulled out, pies/tarts so in fridge. DH like his pies cold. If I want mine warm/hot, I can throw it in the microwave. Dh fell asleep while watching show. I need to make coffee cake for our bfast in morning. DH thinks I should make some cookies and granola snack mix. He'll most likely get them too. He's spoiled and he knows it! Hope to check in on Sunday. (((hugs)))

Joyce, hope you are having a good day. Are the Bills playing today?
Ruth, you are correct that the side effects being worse than the cure and I read about the med before I started taking it. I had psoriasis so bad on my feet that the plaques caused fissures and most times I had 8 to 10 fissures with bandages on them so I could walk. Even getting up to go to the bathroom at night caused pain so I am so happy that my feet have cleared up and are staying mostly clear now that I am lowering my dose of the med. Iām picking up a pie from Samās one day next week also. Nice that DIL can share some of the cake left overs with her co-workers. Hope Mara is having a great birthday.
Martha, some people go absolutely nuts over the insta pot. DS2 bought one about 2 Ā½ years ago, a 3 quart one. He is a gadget person. He said it was too small for some of the things he wanted to make so I offered to buy it off him. That year he gave me a 3 quart one for Christmas, he found a great deal at a Black Friday sale. I didnāt like the chili I made in it ā it was very watery. I make my chili on the stove still. I have used it for soup and it makes great bone broth, but other than that I donāt use it much. Plus I have to store it in the basement (even the 3 quart one is big) so anytime I want to use it I need to go downstairs to get it. You do spoil your DH but you seem to enjoy the cooking for him.
I was in line for 30 minutes to drop off my shredding, I donāt think it was as well organized as it could have been but once I got in line I decided to wait it out. I plan on wrapping some of the gifts I have already purchased. I did get more wrapping paper and ribbon this week so I should be all set. Also there is at least one load of clothes ready to be washed so I plan on taking care of that also.

Good afternoon,
Bills have their bye week today, but Iāll have some game on in the background.
DB is having fun texting me. I send him temperature checks throughout the day, and he always has fun remarks. He was concerned that I might need food so I sent him a picture of my loaded freezer and pantry. Heās finding silly quarantine videos on YouTube and sending them to me. Iāve been laughing all morning. I know heās concerned, thatās his way of checking up on me.
Other cashier went for her test yesterday. Sheās still having thanksgiving dinner for her family (2 sons and their families) even if she doesnāt get her results by Thursday. Iām shaking my head. She was really surprised that I already told DB that Iām skipping dinner on Thursday. The way I look at it - itās one dinner. I do have a half turkey breast in homestyle gravy that I bought weeks ago, so I will have turkey dinner. I also have a couple of bananas that will be nice and ripe in a couple of days. Banana bread for thanksgiving dessert. Today I thawed out some meatloaf and will enjoy with mashed potatoes and veggies. Iāll send DB a picture later, heāll get a chuckle.
I pulled stuff out of my spare room closet. Iāll probably put half in donation bin, the rest Iāll find a home for. Will be nice to have an organized closet. I can keep cleaning thus afternoon, tonight Iāll just play games on my iPad. Iām enjoying the word games that Iāve been downloading. Challenging and fun. My mom would have enjoyed them, she was great in finding words on the puzzles in the paper.
Cold, dreary day. It snowed for a bit, but thatās over. Iāll put my car in the garage later. Itās not supposed to snow too much this week, but you never know.
Enjoy your day

So, I've been a sloth for most of today. Coffeecake not made. Breakfast ended up being chorizo/scrambled egg burrito with fruit. Granola/snackmix is currently cooling off. Just about to mix up the cookie dough. Most of DH's lunch has already been stacked in refrig for in the morning. Not too worried about mine since I'll be at home.
I don't think I'll be buying an insta-pot. I would have to store it downstairs most likely also. Crockpot works well for me. Last night's White Chili was good. Most of the leftovers will be DH lunch this week.
Joy - glad that DB is keeping you in good spirits. I'd be shaking my head at your co-worker too. With all the technology out there, you can 'celebrate' the day without actually traveling. You have a much better frame of mind regarding the day. (((HUGS))) Dottie - Glad that you were able to get shredded. Covid has changed the way we do a lot of things. Ruth - Hope Mara's birthday went well.
My chocolate deficiency is acting up (hehehe) so DH's cookies will be chocolate.
Have a good evening~
(((hugs)))

Good evening all. Mara had a great birthday I think. Iāll send (email) you all a couple pictures of her! Got a message from DS saying it was going to be just him, after he told me earlier this morning it would be both of them for lunch. Then about 15 min later I got a message that he was turning around and going back to get DIL. That she really wanted to be with Mara on her birthday; she had struggled to wake up and get up and had missed his leaving by 5 min. He said she was crying so he turned around and went back and got her. Nice thing about the crock pot roast is it could wait and I had just started the potatoes; so we were good! And I had gotten Mara her cupcake for just her so we sang happy birthday to her; she & daddy blew out the 3 candles; and she enjoyed her cupcake, mostly the sprinkles on the top. Her mommy took a couple bites of her cupcake and Mara gave her mom a āside eyeā!! She was not pleased, but she didnāt say anything. Thursday we will celebrate with cake for the rest of us with no one blowing on it or anything! And weāll have presents for her to open from several family members.
Dottie, we sat in line that long or even a little longer this fall when we did the city clean up thing. We had shredding, a bunch of computer equipment, and a microwave or two. This one is very well organized, itās just super busy on a Saturday morning. They usually do 2 a year; but the spring one was cancelled due to covid.
Martha, DH got an InstaPot for Christmas 2 years ago I think. He likes it. When we were seriously doing WW and both lost a lot of weight; he used it maybe 5 days a week!! For Fatherās Day this year I got him one of the Ninja Foodie things that is a combo InstaPot/Air Fryer. He likes that; but for some reason he seems to only want to make things that use both of them for the same meal. MEN!!!! Now the InstaPot is on a shelf in the laundry room closet (just off the kitchen), but if heās gonna keep using the big unit (on the counter), we need to see if any of the grandkids would like an InstaPot! Or else sell it. DH made a lot of chicken breast dishes. We also bought these tiny really tough steaks at Kwik Trip (our gas station chain) that weād get for 99 cents to $1.50 each; and they would come out fall apart tender!!
Joy, that is so sweet of your DB. Is he older or younger than you? Doesnāt it feel great to get that closet cleaned out? Need to start working on stuff like that here! You are making the best decisions regarding staying away from people until you get your results. Weāve asked ourselves if weāre being overly cautious or if others just arenāt taking things seriously enough. We think since weāve been this cautious for this long, and have stayed safe, weāll just continue. And stay away from those who arenāt taking it seriously.
Vikings just lost in the last seconds of the game to the Cowboys. DUMB!!!! Reading the paper and trying to get it out to recycling. Garbage tomorrow. Need to empty some wastebaskets from downstairs into the can.
Going to do a little knitting tonight. Should start reading the books sitting on the couch next to me. Have a good evening all. More tomorrow!
