Welcome to our 2020 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.
The main focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is to commit ourselves to success, one day at a time, one hour at a time....success breeds success! Follow a healthy food plan, exercise and stay AF.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment for the entire challenge is the way to go, but day by day is also a way to go. No one is cut from the challenge, and if you don't want to be part of the challenge, you are still welcome to post.

ALMOST TIME TO SWITCH FROM MY DAILY ANXIETY TO MY FANCY CHRISTMAS/NEW YEAR ANXIETY OR CHOOSE ACCOUNTABILITY NEW CHALLENGE November 1 through December 31
Accountability: experiencing consequences for performance or actions. Accountability is essential for an organization, for a society, and for a person. Anxiety: a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome.
In other words, with accountability, a person will assume ownership of their own action because they will face consequences. With anxiety, a person will put enormous pressure on themselves by worry or fear.
Accountability is what we’ll call it, but think of it as both incentive and insurance. It helps to keep one in control and not let anxiety take over. The Anxiety will not get you anywhere. The holidays are coming and no amount of crash dieting or excessive eating/drinking or letting stress take over, will delay the inevitable. Establishing accountability helps us to stay the course, even when our former ways tempt us. If a little accountability is good, and more is better, then let’s go all in on this challenge. Leave the anxiety out of the equation.
What should we be accountable for in this challenge? Pick one, all, or anything in between. Feel free to add your own accountability goal and let others join you.
ACCOUNTABILITY CHOICES!
FRESH START MONDAY! What is your accountability for the week? What anxiety will you let go of?
MOVE MORE ACCOUNTABILITY Every little bit helps and definitely helps anxiety.
SLEEP ACCOUNTABILITY Have you established a routine?
NUTRITION ACCOUNTABILITY Ugly and good days Drink more water Drink your height in water….68 inches tall equals 68 ounces of water….add 8 ounce every seven days One or more fruit daily One or more vegetable daily Track nutritional intake Grocery List Share a healthy recipe Low Sugar, limit added sugar to 24 grams or less Pre lose the five pound holiday gain AF/AIM/AIE
JOURNAL YOUR NUTRITION ACCOUNTABILITY
HAPPINESS ACCOUNTABILITY
What did you do for yourself today? Motivational quote
HABIT ACCOUNTABILITY What new habit are you establishing?
CHECK IN DAILY ACCOUNTABILITY Scale of 1 -5 …how is your day going? Just say NO - not saying yes to every request will help to control anxiety.
TIME MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTABILITY Need to do, should do, want to do Organize yourself with lists. Lists can help reduce anxiety.
Let's be accountable and supportive to each other. As always no judgement, just encouragement, and if needed, tough love though we are usually toughest on ourselves. Set your accountability goals and let's get to work. Let’s be healthier versions of ourselves come January 1.

ACCOUNTABILITY NOT ANXIETY! DON'T OVERWHELM YOURSELF... Step by step brings results!
I enjoyed yesterday thoroughly. DH, DS, & I walked the nature trail, I did a few chores in the morning, including hanging a clock in the master bath, then settled down on the couch to catch up on Gray's Anatomy, Christmas movies, and stitch. I finished the Pilgrim couple, will take a picture later. I'm deep into negative points for the week. I need to fight the mindset that once I go over, another cookie won't matter.
Jan- Woohoo for the trifecta, meeting your AP goal, finishing your list, getting cash for DS's car. I'll probably go Thanksgiving shopping tomorrow as well. You, Cindy and I are neck and neck on the Weekend Warrior!
GG- Hope it all works out for Thanksgiving!
Carole- Glad your dad continues to do so well. Hope your brother tests negative. Yay for almost being done with your cross stitch!
Cindy- WTG for your productive day. What a bonanza of food from the potluck! The Cowboys masks will be fun. Hope you awake refreshed today. The washer and dryer are on the second floor. There is actually a second laundry room on the main floor, but we're using it for storage, have an extra fridge, and the cat's litter box. If the stairs become a problem at some point, we can always convert it back to a laundry room. The Georgia DDS will take a passport, but I don't have one. I'm hoping Tipton county comes through with an acceptable marriage certificate. I'm a little nervous about applying for a passport and having all my original documents gone during the process.
Cathy- WTG AF, OP-ish, tracking, positive self talk. You've worked hard to lose weight and deserve new clothes!

Quote: If you're not changing it, you're choosing it. "If you don't take care of your body, where are you going to live?" ACCOUNTABILITY, NOT ANXIETY November 1 - December 31 November 1 start weight: 202.3 November 8: 202.6 November 15: 201.7 November 22: 202.2 November 29: December 6 December 13: December 20: December 27: December 31 final weight: Good Morning. Up early again. Wanted to see how the kitties were doing. BOth were out a while yesterday and Scout came back holding a paw a bit tentatively and acting "off". They both ate this morning and are just Lazing around but not their usual busy selves. Going to try to keep them in all day to watch. I know it would be better to have them be indoor cats but now that they've been out they are very good at escaping when a door opens. Hopefully when it gets colder they won't be interested and will re adjust over winter to being just inside. Had a good day yesterday, walked, knit, shopped a bit, we decided on grilling hamburgers while it was still nice enough out but it was too late to thaw anything so I picked up a few holiday things too. DH got a bug to wash the dining room windows...WOW really bright now and look so good! Didn't know we were living in such a fog!! Purged some things from DS dresser and room. Found a jackpot of giftcards we had sent him that now I'm keeping Some are from Aldi's, a grocery he doesn't have now in LA, some had random left over balances, $8 at Walmart, $4 at Starbucks, but I"ll put them to good use. No big plans for today, probably some football on the tv but at least that backgound noise doesn't stress me out. Trying to get a meal plan for the week so I can work in the Thanksgiving Day points and not blow the whole week. Hope you all have a lovely Sunday. Jan Amy I'm glad our cookies are gone! I'm holding off making Chex Mix until after this week just to stay out of it. This week I"m saving up for pie. Sounds like a delightful day in Georgia and glad you are feeling so happy and content. Retirement looks good on you Can't wait to see the stitching projects. Carole Glad your Dad is doing so well. Things here aren't locking down so much, but I think we're more "lawless" like Cathy says. I know we need to do it but feel like its a bit of a a Pandora's box, we've already let things get so out of control it's going to be really difficult to reign people and the Covid back in. GG Sounds like a Thanksgiving plan, hope it works out and Addy feels OK. Enjoy your week off "school". Cathy I agree, get new clothes if you need them. I'm sure I have things in my closet still that I say I will get back into. If I really thought about it I'm sure I wouldn't wear those things by then anyway as out of date or too "young" I just need to get ruthless and send the things to the thrift store. The cats are both neutered and chipped, just won't wear collars. Cindy Wow, that was a feast at DS work. I remember those days from school. Glad you could share, have plenty to eat and could freeze what you had already bought! Sounds like you had a productive day. Yay for getting the bulbs and plants in. I am trying to keep a lavender and a rosemary alive on my kitchen counter. Also started forcing some narcissus bulbs and hope they bloom by Christmas. The Cowboys masks will be fun. Fingers crossed for the snake oil. Hi to Murphy and Liz, hope you're doing well and just too busy to check in Hugs

What will you be accountable for today?
Move More Accountability: seem to be doing better every other day...need to get consistent. Did better yesterday, not so much today.
Sleep Accountability: I realized at 4:00 AM I had not checked the garage and sure enough the doors were open....hard to be at ease after that thought nothing was taken.
Nutrition Accountability: left overs are still delicious.
Journal Accountability: just need to start!
Happiness Accountability: better than okay
Habit Accountability: doing better on the water and cutting back the soda
Check in Daily Accountability: I'm back!
Time Management Accountability: Need some discipline!
Hi All,
Amy, glad you were able to get the Pilgrims done and have a wonderful morning walk! How is DD feeling? I completely fell off the weekend warrior challenge. Just need to string days together. It would be nice to have a second floor laundry. DS just drops his clothes over the upstairs railings and then moves them into the laundry room.
Jan, hope Scout is doing better! Is your porch screened in so the kittens could go out there? Yay for a jackpot of gift cards! Could DH come wash my windows? I'm sure the narcissus bulbs will bloom...I usually do paper whites but now think I should try the narcisus bulbs. Hope your lavender and rosemary do well. I have had no luck with indoor herbs.
Cathy, I think getting new clothes would be wonderful though nice of your daughter to offer clothes to you. I have clothes I just love and haven't gotten rid of yet but think in my old age, if they fit, and I love them, so be it.
Murphy, hope you check in tomorrow! if not tonight!
Hi GG, Carole and Liz!
Hoping for motivation in the AM!
Hugs to all, Cindy

Hi girls. Just a quick post. I’ve spent the day watching movies about the Kennedy’s. The good news is that Addi did not have a fever after all. Misinformation from DDILs mom. Our plan for Thanksgiving has changed! We are having dinner at 5 and they all are spending the night!! Turns out the Steeler game is on late! Lol Whatever, I’ll take it!
Back tomorrow!

Hi friends! I was going to workout but put my Christmas houses out. DH put his train out and I built around it, it looks really nice! Spent the day at Dads and finished my cross stitch! I need to back stitch but that’s not so bad (I hope!)
I’m heading to bed. Have a great rest of the night!

SUNDAY: AF/OP/no exercise-maybe Monday
Talked to our son and granddaughters but granddaughters were more interested in video games they were playing than in talking to us. Our son hopes the vaccine will be available soon so he can begin to travel safely internationally again as business is hit when he can't be with clients in person. They were off to a swim meet in the afternoon. I am glad they are safe even with the girls in school every day and active in sports.
Today is my husband's 82nd birthday and we don't really have anything to celebrate with. He is not big on celebrating so it is what it is and we can celebrate when the pandemic is gone. He just came in and said the car battery is dead SO that means no shopping until we get it charged again...ah well...
AMY: I have been in that mindset that when I am over weeklies/dailies it doesn't matter any more. You can switch things over to mattering again I am sure! How great that you had a wonderful day! Hope you get the identification/drivers license thing sorted soon.
JAN: How fun to had a busy productive day. Your comment about burgers had me salivating...maybe for a veggie burger How fun to find gift cards with credit you can use...hope it doesn't expire before you can use it! Our windows open in with a seam in the middle (French windows?) and when hubby sprays water on them to clean them we end up with water everywhere as they leak. I have to stand inside with a towel and often end up wet!
CINDY: I have some older kept clothing that I haven't released yet BUT most of the truly vintage older things are gone...have done a purge or three in the past and they are gone with the wind. I am looking forward to getting to goal weight and getting some new things in the future!
GG: How fun to have a Thanksgiving sleepover!
CAROL: Your crosstitch project looked intense and tricky! It was marvelous! I am glad you have time to work on projects while with your father.
MURPHY & LIZ: Hope you two are okay and check in soon!
