Welcome to our 2020 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.
The main focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is to commit ourselves to success, one day at a time, one hour at a time....success breeds success! Follow a healthy food plan, exercise and stay AF.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment for the entire challenge is the way to go, but day by day is also a way to go. No one is cut from the challenge, and if you don't want to be part of the challenge, you are still welcome to post.

ALMOST TIME TO SWITCH FROM MY DAILY ANXIETY TO MY FANCY CHRISTMAS/NEW YEAR ANXIETY OR CHOOSE ACCOUNTABILITY NEW CHALLENGE November 1 through December 31
Accountability: experiencing consequences for performance or actions. Accountability is essential for an organization, for a society, and for a person. Anxiety: a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome.
In other words, with accountability, a person will assume ownership of their own action because they will face consequences. With anxiety, a person will put enormous pressure on themselves by worry or fear.
Accountability is what we’ll call it, but think of it as both incentive and insurance. It helps to keep one in control and not let anxiety take over. The Anxiety will not get you anywhere. The holidays are coming and no amount of crash dieting or excessive eating/drinking or letting stress take over, will delay the inevitable. Establishing accountability helps us to stay the course, even when our former ways tempt us. If a little accountability is good, and more is better, then let’s go all in on this challenge. Leave the anxiety out of the equation.
What should we be accountable for in this challenge? Pick one, all, or anything in between. Feel free to add your own accountability goal and let others join you.
ACCOUNTABILITY CHOICES!
FRESH START MONDAY! What is your accountability for the week? What anxiety will you let go of?
MOVE MORE ACCOUNTABILITY Every little bit helps and definitely helps anxiety.
SLEEP ACCOUNTABILITY Have you established a routine?
NUTRITION ACCOUNTABILITY Ugly and good days Drink more water Drink your height in water….68 inches tall equals 68 ounces of water….add 8 ounce every seven days One or more fruit daily One or more vegetable daily Track nutritional intake Grocery List Share a healthy recipe Low Sugar, limit added sugar to 24 grams or less Pre lose the five pound holiday gain AF/AIM/AIE
JOURNAL YOUR NUTRITION ACCOUNTABILITY
HAPPINESS ACCOUNTABILITY
What did you do for yourself today? Motivational quote
HABIT ACCOUNTABILITY What new habit are you establishing?
CHECK IN DAILY ACCOUNTABILITY Scale of 1 -5 …how is your day going? Just say NO - not saying yes to every request will help to control anxiety.
TIME MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTABILITY Need to do, should do, want to do Organize yourself with lists. Lists can help reduce anxiety.
Let's be accountable and supportive to each other. As always no judgement, just encouragement, and if needed, tough love though we are usually toughest on ourselves. Set your accountability goals and let's get to work. Let’s be healthier versions of ourselves come January 1.

ACCOUNTABILITY NOT ANXIETY! DON'T OVERWHELM YOURSELF... Step by step brings results!
We walked at the clubhouse, always a nice way to start the day. Had leftover salmon and eggs for breakfast. Planted some narcissus bulbs and a peony root (two more roots are coming). Hope it's not too warm still for the narcissus. I haven't planted any bulbs in over 30 years as they don't do well in south Florida. DH dug up some bushes in the front that were puny and ugly, it looks so much better without them. We ventured into the back "yard" which is basically a steep weed-filled hill. Some of the weeds have gone dry and woody since the frosts and were easy to pull out. As I got farther down the hill, I realized that it levels out quite a bit, so I kept exploring deeper into the woods. I wished I had taken my phone with me to take a picture of the house from the woods. We have no idea where our property line is, but were assured by the builder that nothing would ever be built behind us. It was something of a hike back up the hill, took a shower and that was pretty much it for the rest of the day. Watched a couple of Christmas movies, stitched on a new Santa, did a load of laundry. We are planning on having our Thanksgiving meal in the early afternoon and DS's are setting up a Zoom call for around 5pm our time.
Jan- WTG on your steps, blue dot, AF. Cats do like their freedom, I am still amazed that Annie has taken so well to the basement. Woohoo for clean windows and the gift card jackpot!
Cindy- Every other day is better than not at all. Glad you checked on the garage doors. I hope oldest DS comes to visit at Christmas, but I am doubtful. He hasn't seemed very keen on it.
GG- Glad Addi did not have a fever and your Thanksgiving plans are coming together.
Carole- Your Christmas houses and train sound nice. WTG for progress on your cross stitch.
Cathy- WTG AF, OP. Glad you were able to talk with family. Happy birthday to DH.

What will you be accountable for today? Taking care of me, my physical and mental health! Move More Accountability 4 Walked to get my 8000+ steps. 10 AP Repeat today. Work to get at least 10 AP a day. Sleep Accountability 4 About 7 hours, up early but feeling rested and awake. Some crazy dreams. Cats were not in basement and ready to get up Nutrition Accountability 4 Tracked, stayed in my points, 30/23 Blue Dot barely, AF Detoured by some chocolate!! Journal Accountability 5 I do write everyday, Focus on my gratitudes and successes Happiness Accountability 4 I am responsible for my own happiness. Looking forward to the holidays Habit Accountability 4 Work to get my movement in before noon, and get my first 50 oz of water in before then too. Check in Daily Accountability 5 I'm here and ready for the challenge Time Management Accountability 4 Schedule time frames to work on projects, keep a calendar and less screen time. Quote: If you're not changing it, you're choosing it. "If you don't take care of your body, where are you going to live?" ACCOUNTABILITY, NOT ANXIETY November 1 - December 31 November 1 start weight: 202.3 November 8: 202.6 November 15: 201.7 November 22: 202.2 November 29: December 6 December 13: December 20: December 27: December 31 final weight: Good morning all. After a day of just lazing around and sleeping, both cats seem perky and ready to go today. The power of sleep!! Yesterday I cleared out a space in the dining room to put up my fake tree, not sure I'll like it there and may still rethink rearranging the living room to find space. I will drag it out today or tomorrow and see what happens. We will work on the real one the day after Thanksgiving. Will get to the grocery today to pick up the last things I need for the week. Also time to seriously start sorting out the gifts I have stashed away and make boxes to mail..Can't believe it will be December in about a week!! As much as I'm ready for the year to be over, time is just going too fast! Yesterday I worked upstairs awhile on my scrapbook pages while watching my new little TV. Started on episode one of Yellowstone with Kevin Costner. Not sure if I should get sucked in but wanted to see what people were talking about. Signed up for Peacock, free streaming, so some new choices of shows. Helps me surf the urge when I change up the routine, did get into some dark chocolate with my tea, but will still take that as a positive. The plan today is stay the course, try for 3 rollovers to add to Thursday dinner and get my movement in. Make it a great day all.....Embrace it! Jan Amy Sounds like a fun day at your house. Sounds like you have lots of room out back to plant at will. Your bulbs should be fine and will make for a pretty spring. It's a change when I come on here in the morning and you are still often posting, so used to you being up so early when you were working. You have a good plan for Thanksgiving and Glad you can connect with Zoom. Carole Your x stitch looked great. Do you think you'll frame it or make a pillow or something? The Christmas Village sounds so cute. How is DH doing? GG A holiday sleep over sounds fun, I'll bet they wear you out though!! Maybe this week you'll hear from the DR. Cathy Sorry about the car battery, hope you don't need to get out for anything right now. Kids and GK are funny, we usually let DS call us, then we know he wants to talk, otherwise it's often short answers and he's busy with something else. He's good about calling so it works. The Vaccine may help, but I don't think the average person would even be able to get it until sometime late next year. We'll see, that's if we can ever even make the change in the administration! Every day is more crazy talk. Hope you get your veggie burger! Cindy Our porch is glassed in but no heat. They do sit out there and watch the birds. Both seem fine today, playful, chasing around. Have been torturing them a bit this morning with the laser light, they love to chase it around. My bulbs probably are paperwhites, I think narcissus is the family of all the daffodil bulbs, and they are starting to sprout. Hi Liz and Murphy Happy Monday!

Hi girls! DD came down for awhile this morning with Rylee. Rylee is a social butterfly like her daddy. She wanted to leave the house! I hadn’t seen her for 2 weeks. She hugged me and wouldn’t let go!! Love, love, love it!! She didn’t want to leave, and DD told her they would get groceries after her nap. She said No, Target!! Lol
Tomorrow is my last day with the other kids for schooling. I don’t have to stay all afternoon, only until DS gets up. As long as they are totally virtual, DDIL will be home. I don’t think she will go back to subbing unless she gets a long term sub position. Perfect timing with winter!
Cindy: I love the idea you get all those left overs and that you gave some away!
Cathy: Happy Birthday to DH! Sorry about the battery! I’m like Jan. I let the kids call me whenever. I will always talk. I hate to interrupt.
Amy: Fun find behind the house!
Jan: I started watching Yellowstone and couldn’t take the language! Just like when DH starts yelling about the current state of affairs! He gets so tired of me asking him not to swear! It’s worse when there is A involved!
Carole: Cute picture on FB. Was it Tys birthday?

Sleep Accountability: It is way to dark in the AM and yet I'm awake by five.
Nutrition Accountability: not hungry today...
Journal Accountability: just need to start!
Happiness Accountability: better than okay
Habit Accountability: doing better on the water and cutting back the soda
Check in Daily Accountability: I'm back!
Time Management Accountability: Need some discipline!
Hi Everyone!
Amy, signed back in on FB and saw your Pilgrims...they are great! What a wonderful discovery of your backyard. Yay for getting Zoom time with family. Sounds like a nice day!
Jan, it does seem like the year flew by. Still debating on whether to put up a Christmas tree. If I don't, I really should sort through ornaments. Hope you found the perfect spot for the one you were putting up. Did DS and GF decide to go to New York for Thanksgiving?
GG, enjoy the sleep over! What fun! Glad you were able to spend time with Rylee today. I laughed about her saying Target. I find it amazing that no one wants to take the leftovers home and glad DS does and we can share. There was a tray of cornbread stuffing that hadn't been opened.
Cathy, happy birthday to your husband. Sorry about the car battery. Frustrating. Glad you were able to talk with the family though the grandkids distracted.
Carole, your x stitching looks great. Glad your Dad is going well. Now we need a photo of the Christmas village and train!
Hi Murphy! Hi Liz!
Going to try and get my hair cut tomorrow. I'm not sure if the last place I went to (over a year ago) is open and not sure if this decision will last overnight. Still need to make eye appointment. Making a list.
Hope everyone is staying safe! Hugs, Cindy

Hello friends! I think I actually slept better at my dads! I’m tired and I didn’t get up until 6:15. Nothing much going on. My brother tested negative for Covid, thank God. I forgot who asked, I’m going to frame the cross stitch—it’s technically it’s for Alexis, but we’ll see if she still wants it!
Amy, your back yard/woods sounds beautiful. I loved your pilgrims!
Jan, maybe yesterday the kitties were worn out emotionally from being away from each other. My dad watches those politic shows, ugh! When I can spend more time at home I want to clean up my craft room and start scrapbooking again.
Gg, Rylee is sure a cutie!
Cindy, are you going to get your hair cut short?! I’m getting mine cut and colored tomorrow too.
Cathy, I think you should get new clothes too. Happy birthday to DH!

MONDAY: AF/OP/scale moving even if I am not exercising
<174.6> Tuesday morning
Yesterday my husband talked to our daughter twice and had a late email from my son saying he and our granddaughters will call him a day late. I think that has made him happy even though his "gift" was a dead battery in the car yesterday and even though jump started it did not start today. He can't fix it today because we can only be on the road M/W/F during the lock-down. So, good that he bought spinach, tomatoes and bananas yesterday when the car was running.
I am moving back to the lowest weight this time to goal and know that soon it will be seen again and then a lower number will follow.
AMY: Exploring your are and yard sounds like so much fun! Do you have an area outside to spend time in good weather or a screened porch?
JAN: Love that you have your own sanctuary to watch TV in while crafting and getting away from the rest of the house. Do the cats come up to join you when you work up there? Do you have a sofa or recliner to work in or??? No chocolate in the house or I might be tempted, too! I did finally send an email to my son reminding him of his dad's birthday. As much as my husband says it is "no big deal" it seems it is as he keeps asking. My son had been caught up in the Monday crazies so had not remembered and thanked me. Told him to send a note to his dad saying they would call Tuesday and the girls would be home... My husband sent THAT email to me when he received it but has not said anything. I suppose at 82 he deserves a bit of celebration although we did not celebrate yesterday perhaps we can pick up a rotisserie chicken for him or something else tomorrow or whenever we go out and about again. I don't know what the vaccination situation will be for my son BUT am guessing if there is a provision for international salesmen somewhere in the future his company will find a way for him to be on the list.
GG: I am so glad you are near two sets of grandchildren! It must be marvelous to be able to see them as often as you do! The car battery is not a happy making thing BUT it is what it is. We don't go out often due to covid-19 and not wanting to be exposed or spend money on gas BUT we might do more going out for a drive when the battery is fixed/replaced. I would probably NOT have nudged my son BUT my husband, though saying his birthday was not important, was acting the opposite and so glad to talk to our daughter twice in one day that I thought a reminder to our son would not hurt
CINDY: I took the scissors to my hair again and it is even shorter than before. It was almost pageboy/bob length and mostly the same length BUT I got fed up with it and remembered how I did NOT like the look in back when it was all one length but not long enough to put up...I may regret the decision and need a professional to fix it OR might take the beard trimmer to it eventually and look for a wig!
CAROL: I think I will get new clothes eventually BUT first I will shop in my closet and drawers. I have clothes from Chico's that I think I bought at either 145 or 160 pounds and perhaps both SO if they still are okay and only need new elastic I will have clothes available to wear until I can make a trip home or it is safe to shop here in Lebanon at the outlets. Interesting that you are able to sleep better at your father's house. How much longer do you think you will be going to help out? Glad your brother tested negative for covid-19.
LIZ & MURPHY: Hope you two are okay!
