I read yesterday's posts but can't respond to all of them. It is almost 7:30 p.m. I had a great day doing errands all over town, picking up pies, the turkey and just a few other items. I dropped off pies for Rob and Laura our realtor gives us and at 2 p.m. picked up a sweet potato pie at a soul food restaurant that is not too far away. The pastry chef came out to greet me since not many people know to ask if they bake whole pies. They have several desserts in portions for one and the other top favorite is peach cobbler. I told her there were few places in Fresno to buy sweet potato pie and she said I needed to go to the black churches.I dry brined the turkey and climbed the ladder a few times to put more ornaments on the tree. I will finish tomorrow and it is the lower part. Rachel called and must be working at home because she actually asked how I was and I told her how badly I felt yesterday. She wanted to come over with Henry but the house is so chaotic with glass objects and ornaments everywhere I suggested she use something like Zoom or FaceTime and send it to me. It is not at all the first time I suggested that. The girls did it last for 5 minutes in July. Susi, two years ago I took a Whole Foods turkey class given by Mary Pittman, owner of Mary's organic turkeys and other poultry, whose sons were in school with my girls. Hillari, the WF chef suggested the dry brine and Mary gave us thorough instructions on cooking, reheating etc. any turkey or turkey breast. On my way home I picked up a second extra turkey for the freezer just 11 lbs at 39 cents a pound. It is Val Chris owned now by Foster Farms. I could not read Lily's story because my Norton antivirus blocked the site. MJ, glad Toots is better and hope Larraine is better too. There seems to be a stubborn streak in that family June, I reheat in broth too. I need to soak my toe etc. so will try to comment more tomorrow.

There seems to be a stubborn streak in that family They are of German and Hungarian stock <ahem>. Stubborn streak is a mile wide. June, thank you for remembering that it IS our annual retreat. Toots as the pick of the litter, eh? Works for me!

My maternal grandmother was Hungarian.
Bee, was your PT person Kathy Bates?
Becky, we have no meat shortages but turkey breasts were totally sold out at the nearby store and they donβt plan on getting any more. Cathy, have you reviewed any books by Rebecca Paisley. Weβve known each other on Facebook for a long time and she has written several series but I havenβt read any of them.I think her actual last name is Rosas.

I will: track every BLT on ITB, hydrate and remain positive. I might walk and I might not. Scale was 174 this morning so back to the previous lowest weight on this journey to goal weight and believe I will see it lower yet soon.
Hubby is working on getting the battery replaced in our newer car and then we will probably run some errands.
AUDREY: Sounds exhausting at your house! You are so busy and active and have such a long to-do list! I have never heard of Rebecca Paisley. If I see one of her books up for review will try to remember to request it.
SUSI: I bet you are getting excited to pick up Lily. How will you bring her home in the car? Will you fasten her into a seat belt or crate her or???
JUNE: Mystery Meals from the Freezer...hope they are tasty! I ended up with the potato base, beans on top and had some leftover greens with lemon and garlic so put those on the very top and thoroughly enjoyed lunch yesterday.
ANN: Glad you were able to shop and it was not a zoo.
MJ: You managed the work around for the YM meeting - smarty pants that you are Sorry you had trouble sleeping but glad Toots is feeling better.
LADONNA: How wonderful your mother is able to live independently still!
BEE: I love that you call where you live Beeville!
BECKY: I didn't know you shopped almost every day of the week...we try to go only every week or every other week so think that may have impacted the battery as it did not recharge. Perhaps we need a hybrid so we could plug the battery into the house electricity!
PAM: Will update you on the battery...tomorrow.
LADONNA: I bet you are busy getting ready for Thanksgiving. How is Lucy doing in her run?
Lily: Susi is this your Lily? The post is from last July?
Lily arrived yesterday and she's pretty perfect. Her owner passed away and Lily found herself in the shelter before our partners in rescue saved her and transferred her to us. Lily is between 4 and 5 years old, loves kids dogs and cats. She's house trained and ready to go.

Good morning and happy Thanksgiving Eve, June - Ann - Audrey - Bee - Becky - LaDonna - Susi - Pam - and AWF!

Extra prayers for any in the path of fire and storm(s)... and a few extra for all students whether IRL, virtual, or hybrid...
And THANK YOU for accepting me into this group, and for being such caring friends. I wish all of you blessings on Thanksgiving Day and throughout the coming holiday season.

We'll be heading out around 9 AM. I can't believe that I already hear Toots stirring... he's like a little boy on Christmas! Wait... he just walked out of the bedroom, DRESSED!!! Toots updated his iPod yesterday, full of tunes. On the way TO Woodloch, he plays a mix, and we'll make note of which tune is playing when we hit the "home stretch" (in 2014, our first Thanksgiving Retreat as I retired from the ChurchJob, the Battle Hymn of the Republic came on just as we turned into the driveway, and I cried). On the way FROM Woodloch, we put on the Advent/Christmas tunes. We'll watch Woodloch change over from Fall/Thanksgiving to full-on Christmas during our stay. It's fascinating to watch!
I've made my lists and checked them twice, and it's time to make sure everything gets into the suitcases. And then we'll be off to the wilds of Woodloch. I've downloaded the app and I'll have my Kindle. And yes, I'm excited, too.
Coffee... βοΈβοΈβοΈ...
ππ¦πππ¦πππ¦πππ¦πππ¦π Be well! Have a healthy-eating day, all! ππ¦πππ¦πππ¦πππ¦πππ¦π

Cathy - That's my Lily! Thanks for posting those. It makes it easier for those who can't access the site. Good morning everyone. I have a busy morning but will try to get back for personals later. Audrey - Boy you were busy. Safe travels, MJ Ann - That's her. Hope you get your bits and pieces done. Bee - Glad all is progressing for you. Those pictures are Lily and about when I started the adoption process Quiet night last night. There were 25 people in my VM last night. When you have a 30 minute meeting, a topic to discuss and celebrations to do, only about 4-5 people got to speak anything more than a sentence. I'm not sure how they will handle national meetings of 300. How can you even participate with that? Carol came over to watch NCIS. I'm starting to get into FBI now that I seem to be able to stay awake until 10 p.m. Had a good workout this morning and a good WI. Would still like a little more wiggle room but I'm below which is all that matters. I'm leaving at 1:30 today to go get Lily. I'm mostly excited but a little nervous. More about the cats than anything else.

Sitting here like I have nothing to do! I relaxed over coffee this morning and started 28 Summers by E. Hilderbrand. Loving so far. I only have a few things to fix today in prep for tomorrow's lunch which will be outside on the patio/carport. Only a few are coming. Our children and my husbands brother and Sis. Most likely my SILs boyfriend and my BILs teenage kids. My mom wants to stay home and I am fine with that. My brother will eat with her and they are cooking hamburger steaks with a few sides. My meal will be VERY scaled back this year. Should be very easy. I'm also not stressing about the house and yards this year. It is what it is. Looking forward to putting up my Christmas things afterwards. We've gotten a pic of Lucy and the trainer says she is adjusting well but what else would he say? I am going with Laken to see her when the two week visit comes up. I sure do miss that baby. June, sorry about your post! I wish there was a save button we could press that would preserve what we have typed if we accidentally hit a wrong key. Ann, I've also been making a few calls this week ..to loved ones mostly and have a few more today. I also need to call Verizon Wireless and not looking forward to that one LOL Audrey, I hope you will be able to visit with Laura's kids via zoom. That up and down the ladder sounds like great activity! MJ, I feel the same way. So thankful to be a part of this group and for our wonderful friendships...HUGS Cathy, How wonderful to be maintaining/down on the scale this time of year. Thanks for sharing the pics of Lily! Bee, I hope you are feeling well today. LOVE the name Beeville Susi, Lily is a beautiful girl! I pulled up the FB article and read and looked at her pics. She is lucky to end up with you where I know she will be well taken care of and loved! We actually have a lot of in person meetings opening up. Bad thing is they are all about 30 mins away from me but I'm actually thinking about going. My weight is up more than it should be and I think the in person WI would benefit me. Becky, I hope you and Kenneth get the rest of your groceries today so you can relax and enjoy your holiday. Pam, waving! Have a wonderful day.
