Welcome to our 2020 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.
The main focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is to commit ourselves to success, one day at a time, one hour at a time....success breeds success! Follow a healthy food plan, exercise and stay AF.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment for the entire challenge is the way to go, but day by day is also a way to go. No one is cut from the challenge, and if you don't want to be part of the challenge, you are still welcome to post.

ALMOST TIME TO SWITCH FROM MY DAILY ANXIETY TO MY FANCY CHRISTMAS/NEW YEAR ANXIETY OR CHOOSE ACCOUNTABILITY NEW CHALLENGE November 1 through December 31
Accountability: experiencing consequences for performance or actions. Accountability is essential for an organization, for a society, and for a person. Anxiety: a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome.
In other words, with accountability, a person will assume ownership of their own action because they will face consequences. With anxiety, a person will put enormous pressure on themselves by worry or fear.
Accountability is what we’ll call it, but think of it as both incentive and insurance. It helps to keep one in control and not let anxiety take over. The Anxiety will not get you anywhere. The holidays are coming and no amount of crash dieting or excessive eating/drinking or letting stress take over, will delay the inevitable. Establishing accountability helps us to stay the course, even when our former ways tempt us. If a little accountability is good, and more is better, then let’s go all in on this challenge. Leave the anxiety out of the equation.
What should we be accountable for in this challenge? Pick one, all, or anything in between. Feel free to add your own accountability goal and let others join you.
ACCOUNTABILITY CHOICES!
FRESH START MONDAY! What is your accountability for the week? What anxiety will you let go of?
MOVE MORE ACCOUNTABILITY Every little bit helps and definitely helps anxiety.
SLEEP ACCOUNTABILITY Have you established a routine?
NUTRITION ACCOUNTABILITY Ugly and good days Drink more water Drink your height in water….68 inches tall equals 68 ounces of water….add 8 ounce every seven days One or more fruit daily One or more vegetable daily Track nutritional intake Grocery List Share a healthy recipe Low Sugar, limit added sugar to 24 grams or less Pre lose the five pound holiday gain AF/AIM/AIE
JOURNAL YOUR NUTRITION ACCOUNTABILITY
HAPPINESS ACCOUNTABILITY
What did you do for yourself today? Motivational quote
HABIT ACCOUNTABILITY What new habit are you establishing?
CHECK IN DAILY ACCOUNTABILITY Scale of 1 -5 …how is your day going? Just say NO - not saying yes to every request will help to control anxiety.
TIME MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTABILITY Need to do, should do, want to do Organize yourself with lists. Lists can help reduce anxiety.
Let's be accountable and supportive to each other. As always no judgement, just encouragement, and if needed, tough love though we are usually toughest on ourselves. Set your accountability goals and let's get to work. Let’s be healthier versions of ourselves come January 1.

We bundled up to walk at the clubhouse, at it was windy and in the 40's. When we got back the crew that mows the yard were trimming shrubbery and severely cut back the crepe myrtle. Hopefully that's the right thing to do. It looks very sad at the moment, may need to put some Christmas lights on it. After breakfast, we took my car for an oil change and looked for a file cabinet at Staples, without success. DH had ordered new tires for the golf cart which arrived while we were gone. He took them out to a tire place to have them mount them on the old rims. While he was gone, I ran Robbie (the robot vacuum) in our bedroom. It had been a while since DH is usually in there watching TV. It picked up an amazing amount of my hair, a sign I should run it more often. Going to make our cranberry salad and pecan pie bars today for our feast tomorrow and will brine our turkey overnight.
Jan- WTG for tracking, blue dot, rollovers, AF, sticking to the plan. Hope you found time to work on your stocking. Safe travels for DS & GF. I thought of you when I saw the picture in the TOTD. I am also bad about skimming on FB and usually get annoyed by the ones that start out "Only my true friends will read and follow the directions..." We also had scallops for dinner.
Liz- Glad you're back! What are you doing for Thanksgiving?
Cindy- Glad you got a haircut. Sorry about the thunderstorms. Hope all is well, I see there was a tornado in Arlington.
Cathy- WTG AF, OP, having so many weeklies left!

Quote: If you're not changing it, you're choosing it. "If you don't take care of your body, where are you going to live?" ACCOUNTABILITY, NOT ANXIETY November 1 - December 31 November 1 start weight: 202.3 November 8: 202.6 November 15: 201.7 November 22: 202.2 November 29: December 6 December 13: December 20: December 27: December 31 final weight: Good Morning. When I have a really good day I seem to fall back the next day, need to look into that reasoning. Not overboard or feeling bad just doesn't help my journey. Today I will make our Pumpkin Pie, eat up leftovers, brine our turkey and clean up the dining room table for tomorrow. I've seen some of my friends photos who have had their tables formally set for weeks!! Yikes, who are those people? Got the little tree put up, spent the day "rewiring" the cats and they've been pretty good about leaving it alone. Will probably move it to the living room, like sitting with the lights on in the mornings and evenings and can't see it in the dining room. My sis sent pics, she was able to go out to the cabin yesterday and get some wood panels put up over the inside of the broken window so we should be good until next year. Worked on my stocking, had some messages from DS, they leave today at 1. Sounds like Thanksgiving will be the parents, brother and him. Will be interesting to hear how the puppy does on the plane, guess he has a seat with them and DS says the vet gave them some puppy drugs to help with anxiety and have him sleep. Crazy Kids. Time to get moving. Happy Thanksgiving Eve all. Jan Amy. SOunds like a good day. I need to bundle up today and try to get outside. Seems when I take a "real" walk I'm less likely to get sidetracked in the evening. The Crape Myrtle pruning is right, we used to do that and they come back fine. They call it Crape "Murder" . have fun baking today, sounds like lots of projects done yesterday. I will send you a message on FB, but I had a friend request from you this morning and figured it was fake. Yes, the TOTD made me laugh, it would totally happen at our house. Cathy. Hope the car gets up and running and you can get out for what you need. Should be fun to shop your closets, and yes, new undies would be appropriate . Cindy. Glad you were able to get the haircut. Are you excited about going to the game tomorrow? Hope the weather has cleared up for you. Liz. I have been making myself sit and knit each morning at some point. Ready to be done with my stocking and get on to something I chose to make. Down to the heel yesterday so I can "see" the end in site!! Hi to all. I'll check back later.

Hi girls. Schooling was good. They are both doing good. Addi didn’t have music yesterday so I had her read to me instead. I love watching her sound out words! Jack would never read to me, but Addi enjoys it. Jack did tell me he is going to have a reading specialist through Zoom. That’s good, and the other kids won’t know!
We went to the attorney yesterday and got all our documents. AND, I got a call this morning that my appointment with the surgeon is on December 9.And I can do this appointment at his office near the kids! So we don’t have to travel into downtown Pittsburgh! Of course there’s probably not that much traffic anymore, but we are happy!we ate out afterwards last night and I was up 1.4 today. Since I feel puffy, we’ll call it sodium and go from there!
Amy: Did I read that right, you don’t have to do lawncare or landscaping? I had to look twice at the picture! Lol
Cindy: I hope you feel good tomorrow so you can enjoy the whole experience!
Cathy: I think the main things that need to fit are bras and undies!
Jan: Aren’t kids funny? Mine think so differently than we do! We are doing light cleaning today. DH is making his pie and I will do the stuffing. I’m going to get all the stuff off the dining room table so I can put on the paper tablecloth I bought!
Liz: Glad you are back! I can only imagine where I might be if I had continued down that road. Only by the grace of God has it been 2 years for me!
Ditto to Murphy!

Hi everyone! I know I won’t be getting on in the morning so I’ll wish everyone a happy and healthy Thanksgiving!
It will be just the four of us tomorrow, DSIL is a fireman and he is scheduled to work. I just made a chicken soup for tomorrow instead of the Italian meal before the American meal, 😂! Then just the turkey with the trimmings. Bought my pies this year and add baked cookies.
And of course, Luna (DD’s Shepard) will be with us too.
Has anyone heard or contacted Murphy?

What will you be accountable for today?
Move More Accountability: seem to be doing better every other day...need to get consistent.
Sleep Accountability: Don't like the dark in the AM but sleep is filled with bad dreams.
Nutrition Accountability: needs work
Journal Accountability: just need to start!
Happiness Accountability: better than okay
Habit Accountability: doing better on the water and cutting back the soda
Check in Daily Accountability: I'm back!
Time Management Accountability: Need some discipline!
Hi Everyone!
I think I have put everything on hold for nutrition and journaling until December 1...maybe November 29...so need to reassess. Just not working it.
Amy, loved thought of the day! Maybe a little too accurate. I too don't respond to stuff on FB and felt bad that I didn't respond. I guess I just don't do repostings but I do read your posts, though took a break from FB! The storm did some big damage in Arlington. I know what you are talking about with crape myrtles...the city does what you described but I take a different approach with mine...I think it depends on the genus (not sure that is the right word). Me too with the friend request and ignored.
Jan, I think your days are like my stepping days...one day and one day off...aargh. I had a friend that "staged" her house. She actually had a flower display in the guest bathroom shower!!!....so do know one of those people. I only staged when selling! wishing safe travels for DS and GF. Would they consider working in a hospital in NY? I find it amazing and fantastic that the puppy has a seat...I miss my cat when I am away from the house!...cat lady! Glad your sister was able to go to the cabin and do a winter fix on the window.
GG, Sounds like a good day with kids and completing legal documents. So glad you heard from the doctor and have the surgery scheduled. I'm assuming it is outpatient from being at the doctor but not sure. Hugs! Sounds like a wonderful Thanksgiving with family.
Murphy, now you have touched base with GG but thinking of you. Hugs!
Liz, sounds like a wonderful day with family. It is hard to get back on the wagon. It is hard to consider yourself a non-drinker. Is it cold enough for a nice fire? Join me on the 27th of doing WW till December 24...and hope new habits have been enforced.
Carole, miss seeing your post.
Cathy, we did have our house struck by lightening but just "old wives" tales stay with me...even taking a shower during a storm. We had a house surge protector put in after several items were fried after being hit. Sounds like you will be able to do some shopping in your closet. From what I heard on the news today, your DS has a good chance at getting the vaccine early on.
So cut my hair, 7 inches gathered up...usually nine is required for donation but I guess there is a need. I have no clue how I had so many different lengths, whatever. Hair is still several inches below shoulders but at least it isn't flying into my mouth or getting caught in seat belt.
There were terrible storms last night but we had no damage in our area.
I am excited about the game tomorrow as is DS. I ordered a stadium approved clear bag from Amazon on Monday....got notification tonight that it will be delivered between Friday - Sunday..ummm, doesn't work...it was suppose to be here on Tuesday. So cancelled and will use a gallon Glad bag. I had clear bags from flying but cannot find them, oh well. Seriously, wallet, pills, cough drops, kleenex and phone are about all I really need (what is all this stuff I carry in my purse???) except will want more when I don't have it! Bit concerned about SIL but most people are, lol. Give her the stage and she will be fine. Just going to enjoy the best I can.
Hugs to all...and a very Happy Thanksgiving/friendsgiving...just have a wonderful day! Cindy
