Whether you are regular poster or a lurker, we encourage you to talk with us. We do talk about books, but also about our lives, and Weight Watchers. We are women who are spread around the country, and eventually you will learn you we are, and what books we like to read. Don't be intimidated, just pop in and tell us who you are, and what you are reading now. This is a thread we had on the WW 50 Year old board, so even though most of us have moved beyond our 50's, I am keeping it here. Some prefer to post on Facebook, but for those who may also like to post on something that resembles our old format, I decided to start this. Although we were brought together by our love of books, and we love to share our ideas about books and authors, our friendship has grown, and we know a lot about each others lives. We are spread across the country, and that adds a bit of interest as well, learning about other people's way of life through the "book" they write on the thread.

Good morning. Had around 2" of snow yesterday, but then switched to rain, then by overnight switched to fog. So it looks like the snow is melted. Chance of rain later today, with a high in the 40's.
*****Thank you all for being so gracious about my novel yesterday!!!! I am going to try to scale back all of my replies from now on.....lol, yeah, we will see how that goes!!! But again, thank you. As Thanksgiving is tomorrow, I just want to say I am SO, SO Thankful I have all of you, what would I do without you all??? I believe it is because of you all, that I have gotten as far as I have, with dealing with DH grief.
Pinky, I am so glad you are coming along with your therapy, which it sounds like that shot is really doing so much good!!! What you describe sounds like somewhat of what I was dealing with my knee that I had to have the manual manipulation, then dry needling after that. Are you able to sleep in bed yet?
Marsha, I hope that worked out for your DD to come home with Boss's DS!!! Has she ever met him? If not, I wouldn't be surprised if she refused to ride with him. What did you decide about the turkey? I would make the whole thing; DH could split it in half after it is done, and freeze the other half. I hope your DS and DDIL do not have the virus.
Anngie, it has really slowed down, on the weight loss for DD. She did hit the 100 pound mark, but is stalled. I think she is not getting any physical activity, with her job now being on her computer working from home, and supervising her DD's also, she is not getting all the walking around the school thing everyday. Great to hear you have an appointment to discuss your hip surgery!! I too hope you can get it done in January. I heard for the state of Wisconsin, there are 300 more hospital beds as of yesterday, (compared from when I did not hear), but that is good news, for elective surgeries!
Carol, I have that nightmare too...every year we do a holiday, that I run out of something at the last minute. Keeping my fingers crossed that I am set. Ha, that figures, when WM wasn't very crowded, they had a lot of check outs open. I bet if it was busy, they would close some of those check outs, lol.
Gareth, great you got that cavity fixed. Now you can eat a good Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow!! How is your weather this morning? I just opened my blinds to the balcony, kind of funny to see, last night when I shut them, we had the snow all over, now all the snow is gone and it is a bit foggy. What a change overnight!
Robbin, about the money from people, compared to taking meals to the mourners, it used to be done more so, here also, but in recent years we have gotten away from that. You are off work now for the rest of the week aren't you? I laughed at your reaction to your cousin, and the ramekins!!! I could have pictured my cousin doing that!! But of course my cousin would not have been invited to that, I would have seen to that!
I got my Shark robot vacuum cleaner yesterday!!! After taking it all out of the box, I decided I needed a younger brain to help get it set up, so DSIL will help, tomorrow. They will come early so he has time for that.
Will be running this morning for those extra things I want, like the tree topper (WHERE IS MY OLD ONE??? And for that fact, I am missing my mother's set of Corelle Christmas dishes!! GGGRRR!!!) Of course my list grew last night, as some little figurines need batteries, and I need 2 stocking holders, for on the mantel. Then this afternoon I will be making the dressing, and the mashed potatoes. The sweet potatoes and ham will be made tomorrow morning.
Have a great day today, and HAPPY THANKSGIVING, to anyone that will be too busy to stop in tomorrow.

Karen, I'm glad we could all be here for you. That's what friends are for! It really is simple setting up the robo vac. My brain is older than yours!
I have an appointment this afternoon for another eye injection. Those four weeks roll around fast. Not much else going on with me today. With just the two of us for TG there really isn't any prep I need to make to our meal starting today. I'll get up in the morning and get the chicken and stuffing in the crockpot. Then make cranberry relish and pumpkin praline cake. I sure miss the Thanksgivings when my Dad was still alive and my sister lived in town.

Gareth, it was very unusual for WM to have that many checkouts open. I was at the big WM and it is notorious for not opening more lines. Usually I go to the neighborhood WM and more often than not, they have plenty of lines open.
Here is our situation. DD, DSIL and DGS are coming to our house just for Thanksgiving. They were talking about spending the night, but decided to just stay for the day. We are fine with that. We will have our Thanksgiving at lunch. We will be able to play with DGS and if the weather is nice, we will go play at a park. DS and DDIL are not coming at all. DDIL is insisting they go see her mother. I don't want to get into the whole backstory, but they haven't always had a good relationship. The past 2 or 3 years it has been better. Anyway, they decided not to come to see us because they aren't sure what kind of precautions her mom is taking. They don't want to take the chance of exposing us to the virus. Even if they wear masks except with eating, they just feel it is better not to come here. We would really like to have them here, but appreciate the thoughts for us. From what I've read, you never know who is going to be a super spreader.
Marsha, I hope your DD gets home without you having to go get her.
We had a thunderstorm last night and got a good amount of rain. It is only 50 right now. Tomorrow the high is supposed to be 72 which sounds perfect. We should be able to go to the park with DGS.
I hope everyone has a good Thanksgiving!

Hi Friends---the morning is getting away from me!!!
Karen---I'm so glad we could be here for you and that you feel we were. Someone else on here mentioned a few weeks ago that even our closest friends that we have do not now daily the things we do as much as we all know on here about each other and I think that is true. I did sleep in bed last night for about 5 hours so that is a huge improvement. Then I moved back to the recliner.
Gareth---wow a whole month has passed since your last injection---crazy how time flies. Good luck with it.
Carol---enjoy your day with DD and family.
So much sadness around----my cousins DH died from a brain tumor, I knew it was coming and also a classmate of mine DH's died of cancer. And I know there is just so much sad all around but I am choosing to be HAPPY and VERY THANKFUL this year as we celebrate Thanksgiving. Thankful for my health and not having horrible side effects of my stroke-----but especially THANKFUL for each of you---My good friends whom I can be happy with---crabby with--sad with----mad at something and vent----and everything else we do on this board. Thank you all of you for always being here. I love our little group here!!!!!! So BLESSED!!!!

Karen, did you have the tree topper and dishes last year? Maybe they’re in your storage unit?
Gareth, I, too, remember the good old days when my parents, some aunts, uncles and cousins would be together - if not all for the meal, but for dessert afterwards. I mainly miss my parents.
Robin, I can just see you and your cousin discussing the ramekins! I’ll bet she didn’t have any other pieces to the set, right!
Hi to Carol, Pinky & Marsha!
A couple of you here read Hillbilly Elegy - is it good? Maybe I should get it and then at some point see the movie. I think it’s on Netflix.
So, my sister said she’d bring a chocolate pie. Well, she bought a Pillsbury roll out crust and it shrunk! No idea what happened but she filled it anyway and it looks terrible! lol I told her to buy cool whip and cover it completely and no one will know! Did I mention she doesn’t cook!?
I probably won’t get on tomorrow, or it’ll be late, so I just want to wish you all a safe and Happy Thanksgiving. I, too, am grateful for your friendship. It doesn’t matter if we’re face to face or a written page, what would we do without our friends! Thank you!

Karen, we are all glad that we could be here for you through all of this. I think maybe it was Marsha who had said that we often tell each other things that we never tell to anyone else. I am glad you are getting to have a nice Thanksgiving, being on your own would not have been a good thing.
Gareth, I also can't believe it's been 4 weeks already. Someone just said to me yesterday about how is time going so fast. I think it's because back in March when things got started, we thought time would go very slow, but here we are, it's December (almost) already. Yeah, and everything was going to be gone by Easter, remember that one?
Pinky, you described it perfectly, happy, sad, frustrated, need to run things by others for an opinion, whatever it is. Sometimes we put our 2 cents in, but sometimes it's a whole dime. I hope you enjoy your Thanksgiving. How many of your family are coming?
Carol, thanks for clarifying, I think there was so much back and forth about DD coming, that we forgot. Good idea to do back and forth in 1 day. Things are way out of hand by you. Stay safe and enjoy.
Karen, with your DD getting her weight stalled, more than being sedentary, I think part of it is that the only thing that we can enjoy these days is eating, and there might be too much focus on that. Reading of course, but that only holds you for so long. Also, I am in the office today, but we are leaving at 2. DH is working from home, so actually it's kind of relaxing today. The person who came in to sign her will is someone who is more or less like family. She is single, her twin is married with 2 kids around the ages of my 2, and they went to school together, and her older widowed mother, so they have been coming to me for the Jewish New Year for many years. I got to show them pictures of Maddie. Normally they would have seen her during the holiday, but not this year.

Anngie, we were posting at the same time. You are right, she does not have any of that. And, my DMIL gave her a set of dishes that she bought for an apartment she had in NY for a while when she had moved everything to Florida. Long story that I could write a book about, but she never got along with her own parents. Her father was my DFIL's only surviving sibling, but he originally went to Israel after they were liberated. He married a Jewish Egyptian in Israel, then they came to NY. Lots of jealousy with my in-laws. Then she got into a fight with her parents, and they didn't speak at all.
I somehow did not realize that Hillbilly Elegy was a Netflix movie. I will see if I can get DH to watch it with me. We have been watch Queen's Gambit, but there are only 7 episodes and we have watched 4. I want to watch Virgin River, which premiers on Saturday, not something he would ever watch!
Anngie, enjoy your holiday too. Not sure how that pie crust shrunk, but hopefully it will be edible. Enjoy your Thanksgiving!

Anngie---I am not sure why that crust would shrink like that---I bet it will still be good.
Robin----LOL at your putting 2 cents in but sometimes its a whole dime---I needed that Laugh right now. We are having our 2 sons and DD's family----so 18 of us------that includes the new baby also and DH and I. I am not sure its a good idea but we are going for it. Scary but I'm glad to enjoy the day with just my kids----hardly ever happens. I don't think any one of them would come if they thought they were not feeling well or had been exposed if they knew that.
