Welcome to our 2020 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.
The main focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is to commit ourselves to success, one day at a time, one hour at a time....success breeds success! Follow a healthy food plan, exercise and stay AF.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment for the entire challenge is the way to go, but day by day is also a way to go. No one is cut from the challenge, and if you don't want to be part of the challenge, you are still welcome to post.

ALMOST TIME TO SWITCH FROM MY DAILY ANXIETY TO MY FANCY CHRISTMAS/NEW YEAR ANXIETY OR CHOOSE ACCOUNTABILITY NEW CHALLENGE November 1 through December 31
Accountability: experiencing consequences for performance or actions. Accountability is essential for an organization, for a society, and for a person. Anxiety: a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome.
In other words, with accountability, a person will assume ownership of their own action because they will face consequences. With anxiety, a person will put enormous pressure on themselves by worry or fear.
Accountability is what we’ll call it, but think of it as both incentive and insurance. It helps to keep one in control and not let anxiety take over. The Anxiety will not get you anywhere. The holidays are coming and no amount of crash dieting or excessive eating/drinking or letting stress take over, will delay the inevitable. Establishing accountability helps us to stay the course, even when our former ways tempt us. If a little accountability is good, and more is better, then let’s go all in on this challenge. Leave the anxiety out of the equation.
What should we be accountable for in this challenge? Pick one, all, or anything in between. Feel free to add your own accountability goal and let others join you.
ACCOUNTABILITY CHOICES!
FRESH START MONDAY! What is your accountability for the week? What anxiety will you let go of?
MOVE MORE ACCOUNTABILITY Every little bit helps and definitely helps anxiety.
SLEEP ACCOUNTABILITY Have you established a routine?
NUTRITION ACCOUNTABILITY Ugly and good days Drink more water Drink your height in water….68 inches tall equals 68 ounces of water….add 8 ounce every seven days One or more fruit daily One or more vegetable daily Track nutritional intake Grocery List Share a healthy recipe Low Sugar, limit added sugar to 24 grams or less Pre lose the five pound holiday gain AF/AIM/AIE
JOURNAL YOUR NUTRITION ACCOUNTABILITY
HAPPINESS ACCOUNTABILITY
What did you do for yourself today? Motivational quote
HABIT ACCOUNTABILITY What new habit are you establishing?
CHECK IN DAILY ACCOUNTABILITY Scale of 1 -5 …how is your day going? Just say NO - not saying yes to every request will help to control anxiety.
TIME MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTABILITY Need to do, should do, want to do Organize yourself with lists. Lists can help reduce anxiety.
Let's be accountable and supportive to each other. As always no judgement, just encouragement, and if needed, tough love though we are usually toughest on ourselves. Set your accountability goals and let's get to work. Let’s be healthier versions of ourselves come January 1.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! This year will be different for most of us, let's all hope we get back to normal in 2021. Had to deal with the FB hack first thing, then we were able to take the golf cart to the nature trail since DH got the new tires on it. We had fun putting out new shells and rocks. After breakfast we planted the last two peony roots and spread out some pine straw over the bare areas. Made my mom's cranberry jello salad, texted a picture to my two sisters. Then made the pecan pie bars, which of course I had to sample to make sure they were okay. Put the turkey in the brine after dinner. So all set to go today. We plan on eating in the early afternoon.
Jan- WTG getting in your dancing and getting the little tree decorated. Glad your DS was able to cover up the broken window at the cabin. LOL crape murder.
Cindy- Have fun at the game! Glad you didn't have any storm damage. I miss my cats too when we're gone.
GG- Glad school went well and Jack is getting help with his reading. Glad you have an appointment set with the surgeon. Also glad you have been in touch with Murphy. We bought this place in March, but didn't move in until August, so we hired a guy to mow the yard over the summer and kept it going until now since we don't have a mower. We are planning on doing it ourselves next summer, but they've done a nice job of mowing and trimming the shrubs.
Liz- Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family!
Cathy- What disappeared???

Quote: If you're not changing it, you're choosing it. "If you don't take care of your body, where are you going to live?" ACCOUNTABILITY, NOT ANXIETY November 1 - December 31 November 1 start weight: 202.3 November 8: 202.6 November 15: 201.7 November 22: 202.2 November 29: December 6 December 13: December 20: December 27: December 31 final weight: Happy Thanksgiving all. Just going to enjoy the day and count my blessings. We will probably eat @ 4 or so, pie's made, have all the fixins, just get things in the oven. I took a vote with myself and there will be wine. DH bought some yesterday, had some last night and will finish what we have today with dinner. No mean self talk, just a decision and then the BOT on Friday. Cindy, I am joining your WW through December and adding Dry December for me. I moved my little tree into the living room, love having the lights on this morning and enjoying my quiet time. Even threw the cats out . Got a lot done on my stocking yesterday and spent time doing the dreaded weaving in of many ends. Will try to work on some more today as we watch football. DS sent a picture from the plane of Mack sitting in his seat, so funny. Not even in a carrier. They were to get to NY pretty late so haven't heard how the trip went yet. See some folks running by outside but no big Turkey Trot this year. The holiday does feel different but DH and I often had a small dinner for 2. It's just these last 2 years that we've actually lived near family and now we can't even get together. Hopefully this too shall all pass soon. Have a great day all. Jan Amy. Sounds like a busy day at your house. Bet the pecan bars were yummy. Send them home with DS after today . Are any of your family going to the farm for Thanksgiving? Hope you can all gather there next year to celebrate. Does DH like to do yard work? Cathy. Figure it's your post that disappeared, if it was you, that's a good trick . Will you talk to kids today or wait til Sunday like usual? GG. Glad school went well and that Addy likes to read. Yay for Jack getting some help. I got most of my table cleared off, just some magazines and recipes to pick up today. Have a great day with all the kids. Cindy. Have fun at the game. Can't wait to hear about it. Sorry your bag didn't come in time but glad you could cancel. I'm all on board to make the end of the year a concerted effort to stay OP and AF. Want to start 2021 on a new and clean note after this cacophony of a year!! I also want to keep up my Fitness points and need to be consistent with my walking. Being here keeps me accountable even when I'm off track. Glad you could still donate your hair. Hi Murphy, Liz and Carole. Check in when you can, virtual hugs to you all.

Love you Barb. Maybe you feel shame or disappointment with yourself, but we are not here to judge. We are just here to hopefully lift you back up and set you back on your way. Beating yourself up doesn't really help, I know, Ive tried it. Then my "loser" mentality just drives me farther down the hole. Even when we know all the benefits of not drinking, the voice still says the numbness will take our troubles away for awhile, when they are actually just lurking, waiting to resurface. I know you know all of this, just wanted to say we get it, you will come up with what works for you. I'm sure stress about working, then not working and having empty hours starts your head to spin. This is a good place to talk it out and try to make sense of it now. Today is one day. Hope you can check in tomorrow. Hugs and blessings.

Hello friends! You’ll never guess where I’m at? Las Vegas! We had tickets for Tyler’s 21st bday and still came. They are very strict about mask use and social distance. Airport was ok as we were there early. DD and I are waiting to see the shark exhibit at Mandalay Bay. Kids go home Sunday, DH and I go home Monday. Wish I was going Sunday but DH wants to watch the football games. I did bet on Dallas today so Cindy needs to cheer extra loud! Happy Thanksgiving to you all. I am so incredibly grateful for all of you. Extra hug to Murphy. 😘😘

It was the internet that disappeared and then they came to fix it this morning...ah well...I wish I could disappear sometimes Nothing to report. Will be making lunch soon...probably spinach with bulgur but we a lso have leftover vegetable soup.
AMY: silly me forgetting that what I copied and pasted here and elsewhere had no subject! I love pecan pie and think I have made pecan bars in the past...know you enjoyed the day!
JAN: No talking to family today since the internet was gone. My son did send us the link to a Beirut Symphonic Band video with all three of us (son, daughter and I) playing in a Christmas concert long ago and I watched it this morning.
MURPHY: Glad you checked in...no shame, no blame, a work in progress...we are here if you need us.
CAROL: I hope you enjoy your time in Las Vegas!
