Whether you are regular poster or a lurker, we encourage you to talk with us. We do talk about books, but also about our lives, and Weight Watchers. We are women who are spread around the country, and eventually you will learn you we are, and what books we like to read. Don't be intimidated, just pop in and tell us who you are, and what you are reading now.
This is a thread we had on the WW 50 Year old board, so even though most of us have moved beyond our 50's, I am keeping it here. Some prefer to post on Facebook, but for those who may also like to post on something that resembles our old format, I decided to start this. Although we were brought together by our love of books, and we love to share our ideas about books and authors, our friendship has grown, and we know a lot about each others lives. We are spread across the country, and that adds a bit of interest as well, learning about other people's way of life through the "book" they write on the thread.

Happy Thanksgiving!
I am sure this thread will be very quiet today, but since it is early, I will get my chit chatting from yesterday's posts done.
Weather wise here in Wisco we couldn't ask for much better, to have to drive anywhere, it will be in the high 40's, and partly sunny.
Gareth, I was totally prepared to slap that robot together, when it came, but then LOL, I took it all out of the box! I was immediately intimidated! There is so much to this, I just set it aside till DSIL can look at it today. I was able to get the app on my phone....lol. How did the eye shot go? I too am surprised those 4 weeks flew by! Which is good, the sooner we get to the point we can get the vaccine, the better! I guess President Elect said in his Thanksgiving speech that we definitely get back to normal, so I am going to hold him to that statement! Can you imagine being back to normal??
Carol, that was me that said that about WM having the checkouts open. I went there yesterday morning, which I had not planned on doing, so I was ready to jump into big crowds, but was surprised. It was not bad at all, I had just a few things, like batteries, stuff like that, so I went in line for the self checkouts and those were a bit busy, but not bad, so I was happy. I think the size of your guests will be perfect! Then you can spoil the heck out of DGS. My DD posted a memory on FB the other day, with my DH, her DH, and our one and only DGS. DGS had to have been around 4, and looking at him, I got to missing those times so bad!!! Now all I ever hear about him from DD, is that he is not keeping up with the home schooling stuff. I would not want to be in 8th grade and being stuck at home for school!! Am hoping this year will be a 1 and done.
Pinky, it is true about us bearing our souls here. The other thing I love, love, love about our group is, all of the things I have learned through all of you! We are all so different from each other, but mesh together like family. YAY, on getting to sleep 5 hours in bed!!! I hope eventually it gets longer and longer. OMG! 18 people!!! That would have my head spinning!!! We will have a total of 9 here, and I am comfortable with that size. DS and her DH were going to come, if DBIL son was not able to come to their house, but he was able to work that out, so they won't be here, and I am a bit happy about that, as we had everyone all together (plus DH brother and his wife) that Friday after DH passed, and that was almost overwhelming for me, but as I think of it, I was not real swift then, with DH just passing away 2 nights before, but that is what family does, isn't it.....being there for the one left behind.
Robin, I am kind of used to being alone on Thanksgiving, as DD1 and her family would spend it with her DMIL, and DD2 and her family would go out to her DMIL house for the day, but this year is of course so different. I have to hand it to Cathy, my DD2 mother in law, she said no to anyone coming on Thanksgiving AND Christmas. Good for her to worry about herself. DSIL was livid when she told him. About DD1 stalled weight loss, her surgery does not allow her to eat much, and just recently saw the interaction between her and her DH, while we are all eating together. He is a big help as to if something has carbs in it or whatever. Just the wrong foods, and then she is filled up too soon, and with that surgery, she can only eat a little of certain things. Like me buying that ring of shrimp for her, she will only have a few, but I know others will eat it also. Whatever is left over, I will send home with her. Yes, amazing that we were all prepared for the virus to be done by Easter!!! And I remember all the music festival's in our area planning on rescheduling the events from summer to fall, just in case it went into summer! Needless to say everything was canceled eventually.
Anngie, I eventually remembered that about the dishes; I did not use them last year, as we went to DD house for Christmas, so I wouldn't have been looking for them. The topper I think is a lost cause....Oh, I think you missed it, as I did post about a month ago that I was able to get rid of the storage unit. So it can't be there. Oh your poor Sister!!! I like how you think outside the box, with the whipping cream!!! Lol!!! You are going to have to serve the pie in bowls! Speaking of bowls, we are having 2 desserts! My most precious DGD Lily will be 11 on Saturday, so we are celebrating her birthday today, with my DD1 bringing a birthday cake, plus a pie. My weight has been looking better this week, and my weigh in is tomorrow, so I know it will be bad, lol. I LOVE birthday cake!!! Oh and I have 2 different ice creams for it.
I went to one of our bigger stores here for anything and everything to do with home decor, trees, Christmas decorations, you name it, I went there yesterday morning, for a topper and some other things. Sometimes I feel overwhelmed there, since there is so much to look at. I was able to find something to use for a topper, and of course some other things to put on the tree, and as I have some big figurines (like a snowman, things like that) under the tree, I saw these really neat huge snow dusted pine cones, so I got those, and it looks really nice. Oh, I had to get 2 stocking holders for the mantel. So now I have DH and mine stockings hung. I will take a picture later of the tree ad mantel and post it on FB.
I was able to get the dressing and mashed potatoes made yesterday, they will go in crocks. I have to empty the bottom drawer of the stove, so we can put things in there to keep warm, such as the green bean casserole, and the sweet potatoes. I am starting to have visions of all the food that will be in my kitchen, and also starting to worry if I have enough room!
I won't be surprised if I am the only one on here today, totally understandable. Truly, thank you all for being here, as we continue to be here for each other. What an amazing group!!! Have a super holiday!!!

Don't worry Karen, I am here. Maybe some others won't be. I already spent too much time on Facebook. I am picking up my sides in about an hour. Can you heat any of your sides in the microwave? I sometimes do that with certain foods that are pre-cooked.
I know a few people who have had different types of bypass surgery. One has stayed thin, the other not so much. I am sorry we won't get an update here from Marsha on her DS, but if I hear anything on Facebook, I am sure she won't mind if I let you know. I don't think she posted yesterday.
I am going to get a big garbage bag and throw out stuff around the house, it just manages to build up. We are having a Zoom with our family at 4:00, so will probably eat around 6, I will have to see what DH wants to do. I am not sure if we will watch Hillbilly Elegy tonight, but hopefully will within the next few day. I can't believe that some of the football players are complaining about their game being postponed because of so many positive COVID cases. What they are not saying is how bad some of the players have been since they tested positive. From what some people are saying, about how they don't really get totally back to normal, I am not sure how all of them can do the physical things that they have to do to play football.
I am reading A Time For Mercy. I am not at the point where it is moving along as swiftly as I would like, but I know how these books build. Also reading a Barbara Freethy new book at night, a Christmas story for one of her series.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
I just had breakfast and taking a quick break before starting the WW pumpkin praline cake and cranberry relish. Chicken and stuffing are in the crockpot. I'll also air fry asparagus for our meal. 50's later so I'll walk before we eat at 2:00. Not sure if DH will join me or not. If not I'll listen to The Last Flight that I'm enjoying.
I'm really happy with the report on my eye from the retina specialist yesterday. I thought my eyesight was either getting better or I was just adapting to it. He said my eyesight definitely is improving and that my next injection will be in six weeks instead of four. My eye he said has went from 20/70 which was really foggy to 20/30 the same as my other eye.
Gotta get that cake and cranberries going....
