WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (thereforeacknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going.

C113D8, 13 purple points, 3 grams added sugar, 48.7 grams fiber, 52.7 grams protein, 985.5 calories PLUS THANKSGIVING MEAL.
The meal was really controlled. Better than I've ever done in that situation. 1/2 of everything. Rest of the day under control as well. No exercise cuz it was raining while Janet was here in the morning and couldn't leave DH alone when it got really nice and sunny out. Oh well.

I truly enjoyed time with my family! But I still need to work on Special Occasions. I did well during apps and meal. I mindfully enjoyed a piece of pumpkin roll, then a sliver of apple pie w/ small amount of ice cream, then a couple pieces of chocolate. I would have been fine but when I got home it continued...need to work on the continued part....had a horrible nightβs sleep - Thankfully, woke up and went for a 4 mile walk to clear my head and refocus. Just finished a high protein late breakfast and feeling stronger. I just donβt like that I get out of control....It seems the last three occasions, the same thing....work in progress...I made a turkey breast yesterday along with healthy sides so the fridge is stocked with healthy choices...
Nancy, so glad you were able to get your Thanksgiving meal. Great job sticking to your plan! Just curious....what are you aiming for each day?? I see your watching added sugar and fiber.....also - loving the new laptop!
Hope everyone enjoyed their day yesterday!

Lori - My main goal is to almost eliminate the added sugar. I also try to lean toward higher fiber choices. I pretty much let the calories fall where they may. I'm not at all obsessive about points. I just count them at the end of the day. In fact now that you mention it, I aim less for perfection that ever before and there doesn't seem to be the on again off again mentality. It's as if once you stop with the added sugar, everything else falls in place. What I like mostly about this is that there's no debating about sweets. I was at a jeweler's the other day and they had a large bowl of tootsie pops sitting on the counter. I just reminded myself that I no longer have sugar and that took care of it. Same with the left over apple pie. DH had half tonight and he'll have the rest tomorrow night. I never considered any of it for myself now that yesterday's one isolated meal was over. BTW that one controlled meal cost me 1-1/2 lbs. It'll be interesting to see how long it takes to reverse them. So happy you love the laptop. Is it all set up? I'm sure you're done with the munchies. Maybe you can get back to preplanning those special occasion days so that the one meal doesn't affect what happens at home - before and after.
