I give myself credit for attending my WW virtual meeting, tracking, weighing and measuring, keeping up with my online support groups, and meditating. I am grateful that my husband and I are still healthy.

I checked in to the boards on my accountability thread every day. I got in 3 days of exercise. I tracked in the beginning of the week. I'm grateful that I have the tools to lose the extra weight that I gained over the past few days.

susan092907, I think a lot of people have gained weight over the last few days, me included.

bbbearsmom, I'm keeping in mind that it's likely a temporary gain from eating sweets that I otherwise don't eat, and more carbs than I usually have, and that I'll be able to get it off fairly quickly if I address it now. And more quantities too - see "I tracked in the beginning of the week".

Years ago when I was going to school and working I was studying in the school's library in the fiction section. I noticed they had shelves of Somerset Maugham books. I loved his books and short stories. Told myself I didn't have time to read for fun because I was so busy. Then I realized I could read each night for 10-15 minutes when I was first in bed. I went on to read most of the collection this way.

Another thing I did in baby steps was teach myself to eat raw Portabella mushrooms in my salad. I started my dicing them into very small pieces and now I can eat bigger slices.

I've read a couple of books about breaking things down into small steps to achieve new habits. I read about it but then forget or don't make the effort to actually do it. Good examples, bbbearsmom. One that I can think of - the last couple of times that I rejoined WW, I started the program one little step at a time, spending about a week at a time on each step. First I just tracked as often as I thought possible, without trying to stay within my points. Then I drank water and continued to track more. Then I tracked fruits and vegetable to meet the GHGs. Eventually I was tracking everything I ate and all the GHGs, and probably the last was to stay within my points allowances.

susan092907, That's a good way to start things so you don't get overwhelmed.

My goals are to attend my Weight Watchers virtual meeting next Monday, track, weigh and measure, participate in my online support groups, and meditate. Also I need to think about my current weight gain and do something about it. My personal time is my computer, puzzle, meditation, and reading time.

What or how do you finally get a habit going? What inspires after a while to just do it?
