People over 60 have a different metabolism than those who are younger, and weight loss gets harder as one ages. This thread is for us.
Join us! Share your ideas, your successes, your frustrations. Offer support. Get advice from folks who are on a similar journey.
Our challenge is to stay on plan, exercise and keep trying to lose weight while improving our overall health -- and maintaining a positive attitude!
Think about where you were and how you felt when you made the initial decision to join The Senior WW Challenge. Close your eyes and remember when you said to yourself âEnough is enough and Iâm getting in shape!â On a scale of 1 to 10, how serious are you? You really need to be an eight or higher! If not, you should probably reevaluate your thoughts and feelings about regaining great health in your life.
If the thread has not been started for a day, and you are ready to post, feel free to get us started.
Questions of the day: Wednesday: Sharon; Thursday: Ruth; Friday: Recipe Sharing; Saturday: Karen C: Sunday: Gail.

Jim, Debbie, Maija and Madison stopped by yesterday. It was a nice surprise and Fred had made a pot of chili so they had some and we visited for a while. Jim and Debbie shared they are hoping his daughter who had to push back her destination wedding waits until next Fall and not Spring as it will be in Puerto Rico and since the airline insists on you having the rapid COVID test before getting on the plane which costs $150 and if you test positive will not let you board so would also lose the cost of the ticket he wants to be able to have the vaccine so they donât have to worry about it as the rapid test would be $600 for Debbie, Jim, Maija and Madison and I have no idea what the plane tickets will cost.
Nothing happening here today. I found the Bob Evans mashed sweet potatoes so plan on having that with a steak today. Might fix the Green Giant marinated mushrooms along with it. After 5 have to call the jury commission and I hope they confirm no jury duty as the 10th circuit judge has pushed back all jury trials until January so shouldnât have to report tomorrow but will see what the recorded message says. I tried calling it earlier but forgot the line doesnât activate until 5 today.

Last week's WW topic was one that has helped me through 2020: Focusing on the Good.
Practicing gratitude can help us change our mindset to one that notices what is going well in our lives. During 2020 and at other times of difficulty, I make an extra effort to do this. Research shows it can result in benefits to our weight and health efforts. It is especially good for our mental health. Our group does the gratitude exercise often, some of us daily. I want to return to making it a part of my day.
QOTD: Post three specific things that you are grateful for that happened over the last 24 hours. They could be small moments like hearing a favorite tune on the radio or huge ones, like the birth of a child in the family.
As you write them, concentrate on the details of these three things (where, when, what were you wearing) and think about how each of them made you feel. This reminiscing can help you focus on the positive. Whenever I do this I find myself looking for the good throughout the day.
AOTD: Over the last 24 hours I am grateful for: 1. Forcing myself to walk outside. I am working on getting back to this and it was the second day in a row that I walked over 10000 steps. It energized me.
2. I love seeing and hearing nature. Yesterday there were 4 swans swimming down the river. I watched them for a long while and it gave me a feeling of peace.
3. I did a lot of reading. I finished the latest Louise Penny, read some more of THE BOOK OF TWO WAYS, and spent some time preparing for today's part in the reading aloud class on Faulkner's AS I LAY DYING. Reading is one of my favorite activities. As usual, the reading took me 'out of myself' and relaxed me.
I'll be back in the afternoon after my class. Have a lovely start to your Sunday!

Good morning! Typical Sunday here.....church this morning and Colts game on TV this afternoon. Yesterday we went over to Denise's house and took her and Maya out for lunch. We also drove past where they're building their new house this Spring. We were hoping the model home would be open since it's the same floor plan as the one they're building but it wasn't. The outside looks very nice though. It's close to both the entrance to the subdivision and the new pool they're putting in for the community. Maya sure is happy about that! Since it was also Small Business Saturday, I did some local shopping yesterday and picked up a few gifts/stocking stuffers. QOTD: Post three specific things that you are grateful for that happened over the last 24 hours. They could be small moments like hearing a favorite tune on the radio or huge ones, like the birth of a child in the family. 1. I'm grateful that we were able to visit with Denise and Maya yesterday and just do family things together. 2. I was grateful for the nice weather we had yesterday. 3. I was grateful for the leftover Thanksgiving food in the fridge and that I didn't have to cook again last night.
So to put it all in perspective what I ended up being grateful for was family, nature and abundance......all blessings from God.

Good morning. My morning walk was the short one. Stopped and talked to a neighbor for a while.
Sandy what a lovely surprise visit with family.
AOTD 1. beautiful weather for walks. Next week will be colder but I look forward to that for brisk walks. 2. longer visits with a few neighbors. 3. an afternoon drive. 4. My lettuce is ready to pick and I have fresh basil too for todayâs pizza. Many more blessings.
Last evening we stumbled across a pbs special from Dr Michael Roizon about intermittent fasting. I learned things I hadnât known about it before.
My 3 goals this week are to continue to track every day, eat our main meal in the middle of the day and then a light supper, get 4,400 steps.
The step number may seem odd but thatâs a number suggested for women of my age. Plus that translates into my 150 minutes plus some per week.

Good Morning!
Thinking of you all this morning. Just a quick hello. I am meeting Jaimie for coffee (outside at Starbucks). I want to give her Seth's birthday card and $. Mike's family will be here soon. I will leave right after they get here, but will be back. My plans are outside or masks on.
I scheduled next week's Zoom meeting for Tues, Dec 1 at 2 pm EST. Come if you can.
Going to grab a bite to eat and will be back to check on posts if we don't have company yet. Otherwise I will catch up with you all this evening.

AOTD: 1. Sitting out on the lanai by the pool enjoying the beautiful weather listening to the pool fountains. 2. Celebrating that my mind did not wander in this morning's meditation. 3. Getting to see my daughter today.

All is well here, full sunshine, walk in , feeders up and cats have their sweet treat. Not sweet but they think it is like candy because it is a treat they get on occasion.
Thought of going Christmas shopping but have signed into a TOPS award session at 2 pm so wouldnât get much accomplished before returning home, have to travel 12 miles to Osky or 27 to Ottumwa so will wait until tomorrow. To be colder but sunny so at least no rain or snow. Maybe I can get a better handle on what I want to get today. No sewing Christmas gifts this year.
AOTD: 1. Son did come yesterday afternoon and cleaned the upper building, looks very nice. He also seemed to want me there to visit with while he cleaned. At least he came to house to get me. Thankful for cleaner building and long visit. 2. Grandson Leland finally came last evening. He had a couple other young lads with him. They sat at our dining room table visited and finished the Dirt Cake. Steven was in heaven as he captured their attention with his stories. One of the boys stayed right with him with fishing and hunting stories. Thankful for their visit plus no more temptation of the rich Dirt Cake in frig. 3. Always thankful for my health and being able to be outside in Godâs beauty and nature along with walking. 4. Adding a fourth as we are so thankful my friend/neighbor Judyâs new great granddaughter born last week was taken off Cpak's machine yesterday plus no more continuous ivâs or blood sugar tests. She is a sweetheart, weighs almost 8# with a head full of dark hair. A long way to go before going home but improving daily. Other health issues I am not aware of all them.

Problem today with my freezer so tried to buy another and it was available and arrive on Dec 9 and then when I checked out if wasn't available. My life with refrigerator type appliances is really annoying.

Jane, have you considered an independently owned appliance dealer? Bill Smith Appliances in Bonita Springs has some good reviews. And can do quick delivery. We've had better success with appliances NOT purchased from big box stores.

My older DSIS called to say DB is back in the hospital. He is retaining a lot of fluid in his legs and lungs. He tested positive for covid again. I doubt he ever actually got over it. I so appreciate any prayers. To me it looks bleak.
We realize Donâs DB is not out of the woods yet even though he feels better.
DD has her breast surgery on Friday. What a year this has been. And I feel 2021 will be a continuation.
