Ginny I'm so sorry about your cat. He sure lived a long life! I'm also sorry to hear that your other cat has health issue also. It's a good Idea to get another...as you said, not to replace but so that you have another kitty to keep you company.
I really wish I would get this shawl done today but it seems to be taking forever. I really should have ripped it out when I mentioned on here that it was wider than I would like. At the time I thought that would be too time consuming to start it over but actually it would have greatly lessened the time it would have taken over all.
Have a great dinner with your dd and sil

I'm sorry to hear about your cat, Ginny. That was certainly a long life.
Sunny today and for a few more. High in the low 40s with lowes around 20. In front of the garage it is very cold! The sun won't reach there again until April.

Thanks for the condolences my friends....its been a tiring day and I miss the little fellow but know that he was so weak and frail, that this was the best decision.
Sue, did you decide to work on that scarf? I know you also ordered quilting books....looking forward to hearing your crafting endeavors when the time is right.
Ruth, I understand that...had the same issue with the scarf. I ripped out about 8 rows of that because it was too wide (and i would have run out of yarn anyway!!). Hope that you are able to finish this shawl quickly so you can move on to the next project.

Hello Crafters Ginny - I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. It's such a tough decision to make, but we do it out of love. I'm glad you are already thinking of getting another pet since your other cat is older. Pets give us such unconditional love, don't they? Sorry I missed posting a link yesterday for the virtual cookie blogs, but here is a link. If you scroll down you can see the list of blogs for December 3rd and December 4th and you can click on each one to see what the quilter has posted. www.justletmequilt.com/Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend

CJ, those lemon cookies sound really good.I won't make them though because I'd eat too many.Dh probably wouldn't eat any so I'd have the whole batch to eat. And I love the sauerbraten recipe. I made some years and years ago..sauerbraten with sweet and sour red cabbage. I marinated the meat for a day or so. I was so long ago I can't really remember but I do remember that it was good. Now I don't care much for meat.
Well I finished the main part of the shawl and started working on the edging. I still have the pockets to make and attach. Hopefully it will be done today. I decided that the next one is going to be a very simple one. For that I'll follow the youtube by Natazia. She might have a written pattern too. There are so many patterns for them that I would like to make but with time growing short I just want to get them done.
I hope everone has a good day.

I'm done with the edging but then stopped crocheting to do some chores. I took all my leftovers from the pot roast, etc and made a big pot of potato cheese soup with the leftover potatoes and an even bigger pot of beef barley soup with the leftover beef and carrots. I asked dh this morning what he would like me to make and he said soup. He was talking about beef barley the other day so I reminded him and he was all for both those soups
I have seen a LOT of the young people on the crochet groups making something called "among us". i guess it's a game young people play on their phones and entails crew members and imposters. I guess they're supposed to be aliens. So I asked my dd if my 15 year old dgs played it but she didn't know so asked her oldest daughter who then said that she plays it and if I know how to make them she wants a pink one. So I'm sure that soon they all will want one. Luckily they're easy and fast to make. I'm tired of the shawl I was working on so I'm waiting on the pockets and will start my last one for the dgd's this evening instead and may work on the among us guy.

Good morning and Happy Saturday!
So sorry I just had a short check in yesterday- it was late in the day when I realized that and I was just tired. ( Jane called me late in the evening -needing a friend)
CJ well that is one great name for a web site- “just let me quilt”. I too saw the lemon cookie recipe, doubt my tiny lemon tree will make enough lemons to make a full recipe but they sure look good. I had a good time looking at the Flatiron quilt- and it appears as though the Riley Blake line of fabrics is very popular- such lovely fabrics. Its easy to sit and just peruse all the lovely fabrics, panels, quilts....and then I would get absolutely nothing done!! Ha ha ha. I have more rain here today, which you are probably done with as the system came from the south. Hope you came through the storm fine- no problems with the house or downed branches to clean up. I know for Christmas you usually make a big trip for gift cards. Will you be doing that this year??
Ruth, nice to see you here as a guest and your usual log in !! Funny how sometimes these electronic wonders we post on just can misbehave, not allowing log ins. (I have an issue with a credit card at the moment that will not let me log in- so frustrating- I have called the company about it and am not concerned....) anyway, had no idea about the “among us”. I know no details about them but they sure look cute, and also not terribly difficult to make (for you!). What a cute idea for young adults to make too, something real that they can creatively do with their hands. (Much better than just playing video games). My dad used to LOVE my mom’s sauerbraten. I can still see the stoneware crock my mom would use to marinate the meat in for several days. I have made it a few times myself, and do enjoy it. On those rare occasions I am at a german restaurant its something I normally order. But the red cabbage is easy to make, and a favorite vegetable of mine. Glad you have another project to work on that is quick and easy after all those shawls.
Yesterday I steamed the carpet in DD#2 bedroom- it was a room that the cat had spent a lot of time in and it needed freshening for sure. So that took a lot of time. I also washed everything, including the litter box - in anticipation of getting another cat. I had an “appointment “ with the shelter yesterday and saw some adorable cats....will be going back on Sunday with Ds to make a final decision. Unfortunately, one of the 3 cats I was looking at also has another family looking at him- and they have an appointment to return before mine. He is a really nice cat, and will probably be adopted by the time I get there. They have so many young kittens....so adorable and sweet...just not sure I am willing to endure 6 months of the psycho cat stage until they start to mature. And yes, pets give us such unconditional love. The last week with my older fellow has been a challenge, but for so many years he was just a great pet.
Gave Dd#2 her panel quilt on Thursday evening....will work on finishing the other panel quilt for Dd#1 this am.
Hi to Sue, Phyl and anyone I missed... Ginny

Dumb thing to add, but I will be making chicken bisque soup today ( a favorite of mine) for Dd and myself. Got a leftover rotisserie chicken which is perfect for that.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - I hope that making plans for a new cat will help some with your loss. I did get the rain here earlier (about 1.5 inches) that you are getting and didn't have any problems. There aren't any trees left in my yard to drop branches so fortunately I don't have to worry about that. Hope you don't have any problems either. I'm glad you were able to give your DDs their Christmas panel quilts, I'm sure they love them. I've never heard of chicken bisque soup, but it sounds good. Could you share a recipe or just give a list of the ingredients? I love a nice seafood bisque, but it's hard to find a good one. I've decided I'm just giving cash this year and not going to bother with the gift cards. I'm really trying to stay out of the stores as much as possible this month. Ruth - I'm glad you've finished some projects and are starting on new ones. Your soups sound delicious, I'm sure your DH enjoyed them. Sue - Hope the weather is not too bad there and that you doing some crafting. Phyl - Hope you are feeling better and getting your stockings done. I'm working on that hand quilting project today, it's getting close to being done. I have another embroidery project I'd like to start on this month, but I still need to trace the pattern onto fabric. I'm also still thinking about a few quilting projects. I found a cute pattern for a small Christmas tree, and I'd like to try that with some fabric from my fat quarters. Take care everyone and have a good day

HI, Been so long since I'VE been here do not know why.
seems I miss one day and they go into other day
chiropractor appointment yesterday.I AM OK.
Ginny sorry to hear About kitty. I was alone not sure if I would get a rescue kitty or not. I do not want a kitten,at 78 they would out live me. Tom (dsil) no animals at all.Jeana is more of a dog person.she should have been a vet.
Nancy probably would take the kitty. getting it to Ky would be the problem if they can't come here.
Wi winters I do not want a dog to take out in the icy winter months.
have not been doing any crafting. been reading some books. I like the Debbie Macomber Christmas stories.
I like the sites C j posted. sure would like the penguin pattern.need to let NITA
know about the sites.
mom and grandparents came from Germany grew up in a German neighbor hood. we all spoke German and English. I could speak German very well.forgot a lot of it.
looking at the recipes I don't remember how mom did sauerbraten.I know her
roast beef the German word is BODA.Phyl

I am a guest on this laptop but not on my others. I don't know why this one cleared all my passwords.
I'm curious about the chicken bisque soup too. I hope you'll let us know how it's made. I do remember you mentioning a cream of chicken soup you made and fed to your youngest dgd.
I'm working on the last of the shawls for the grandaughters but have to go back and make and sew on pockets for two of them. Then I have to make one for dh. The one I'm working on now is easy and you just fold up the end to make the pocket. That wouldn't have worked in the two that still need pocket. In between I'll make those amoung us crew members... They also have a pattern for the imposter that kills the crew members and (morbid I'm sure) for the dead crew members who when dead change to having a Y shaped thing coming out the top. I know nothing really about the game. The grands having asked me for an imposter or dead crew member yet.
One thing I do like about our weather is that we dont' get a lot of rain.It rains a lot in Indiana.Don't know if I could handle that all the time.

Good to see everyone here....Phyl, hope you are feeling well, nice that you stopped in to say hi!! Hope it went well at the Chiropractor.
Ruth, sorry about the laptop clearing out all your passwords....I know you have been struggling with this laptop for a week or so. Glad you stop in whether you are a guest or not!!! Ha ha ha I sure need to be educated on these imposters and the dead crew members...the entire among us game. I give you a ton of credit for taking that on.
CJ- well cash works even better than a gift card!!! Do not blame you for wanting to stay out of the stores one bit. I am trying to do the same thing. Were you able to finish that hand quilting project ?? Bet its so pretty. The pattern for a Christmas tree, is it for a quilt with a tree on it??
Finished panel quilt #2....Dd will get it Monday. And I started the shrug that I want to make for myself. Just got the starting chain done and the first row of sc. Worked on that while I watched a Hallmark movie while Dd was here. It was one we wanted to watch together.
Enjoy the soup.... Ginny

Deluxe chicken bisque soup Makes 6 servings 1/4 cup minced onion 3 tablespoons butter or margarine 4 tablespoons flour 3 cups chicken broth or bouillon 1 tablespoon tomato paste 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 1/2 cups half and half ( I use milk for something healthier and it still tastes great) 1 cup diced cooked chicken. 1/4 cup liquid ( wine, dry sherry, water, or chicken broth...even more half and half - your choice. I like to use a bit of wine) Dash of nutmeg, dash of mace. Parsley 1 tbs Parmesan cheese. 1 tbs In medium saucepan over medium high heat, sauté onion in butter for 3 minutes. Stir in flour, cook and stir over medium heat for another 1 to 2 minutes. Add broth or bullion, tomato paste and salt. Stir- bring to a boil until thickened.
Add half and half, chicken, liquid, nutmeg and mace. Cook until heated through, do not boil. Top with parsley and Parmesan cheese. Serve.
I use “better than bouillon” instead of broth...works out just fine, but you might want to reduce the salt then. LOVE this soup.

Ginny, I looked up a recipe and it called for 1/2 pound of butter!! anyway, thank you for your recipe. This would be enough for one bowl for my dh although he has been eating smaller portions lately. I'd make double and would, like you also use milk instead of half and half . I don't know about the nutmeg, I'd maybe put in some dill or tarragon. I would use chicken boullion and leave out the salt too
I think I missed some of the message above so will go back and check them out

Oh I think you forgot the flour in the recipe or else I'm just not seeing it listed...that could well be. I imagine it's 3 tablespoons?
