Linda, I hope it is warmer for you today. No matter how you look at the political landscape, moderates are in short supply. Common sense is even in shorter supply.
Kathy, you wildlife hunter, you. Glad it was only a lizard. The worst we ever had was a bird coming down the flue and flying around the basement at our first house. The cats were no help. They came running up the stairs like Hellhounds were chasing them.
Karen, we are supposed to get rain today and my sinuses and head agree. Poor little Sweet Potato. I hope her mouth isn’t too painful. Good luck with the kibble hunt. The catfish sounds delicious.
Becky, I hope you have been able to go walking. How is the arm doing?
Denise, are you working this weekend? You have been a little cooler than we have. It has been quiet around our lives, too, and I am grateful.
Liz, how are you doing? Have you heard from Chef?
We had our warmup close to 60 for 3 days now. Tomorrow we will be back to normal in the forties for a high. We went to the orchard yesterday and got some Gold Rush, Mutsu, Melrose and Pink Lady apples. They are for snacking. No dessert planned. Iggy cooked beef tongue yesterday afternoon. I had to crank the IQ air filter and go upstairs. The smell is disgusting to me. Today he is making tabbouleh and hummus. He is boiling cabbage today to make stuffed cabbage with Gardein crumbles and rice for tomorrow. Although boiled cabbage is not the best smell it is nowhere near as offensive as beef. tongue. I need to book the kitchen so I can make some bread and a mushroom quiche I’ve been dying to try. Wish you could all dine with us. Although I am pretty sure you would skip tongue night. 👅

Pretty Advent wreath. Those smells sound disgusting. I had beef tongue long time ago in a deli sandwich with other stuff.. just tasted like slightly tough roast beef to me.
Karen, how was night with patient? Micki always had great teeth until he stopped having milk bone dog biscuits. But now his diet is limited.he just swallows the little kibble mixed with his canned food..,used to have it dry sitting out all day. Maybe I can feed it first, then the wet for some crunch.
we are in Dec norm..sunny mid 60s with lower 40s at dawn. Brings a lot of snowbirds and tourists,,our hotels and resorts never really closed. We now have highest infection % in country.
I realized I am getting flabbier and gained a pound too! Nothing to do, nowhere I can go except dog walk. DH likes Christmas goodies and has stockpiled German stuff plus the Italian from DSIL. Yikes. I need to do those PT knee exercises,ne specially the “squats” that are like sitting with no chair..butt pushed back. Not pretty, but very effective on muscles and mine are letting my balance get weaker.
People are upset by virus issues in a couple shows niw. I guess maybe themes of virus in mainstream tv finally gets through some thick skulls denying it.
Anybody else want to fast forward to Feb 1?

Chele, thanks for the start. I keep meaning to comment on the candle arrangement in your avatar. Very pretty! One of my neighbors took the picture in my avatar yesterday. It's our neighborhood bears frolicking in her Christmas decorations! I'm no wildlife hunter, but I do have a bit of lizard chasing experience. They like to camp out on the sliding glass doors between the screen and the door. I always check before opening, but I didn't see this little rascal. He was a cute little gecko, but they're much cuter outside than inside. Like Linda, I've had to do catch and release before, but I was able to coax this one back outside. That was a good haul from the orchard. I got some Honeycrisp apples on sale yesterday and they look beautiful.
Karen, the FSU game is on the ACC Network, so I can't watch. I'll have to see if I can find a way to listen. Are they doing regular bowls this year? I haven't been paying that much attention.
It's cloudy today, but then we're supposed to have highs around 80 for the next few days. That's going to seem awfully warm after this cool spell. Hope everyone has a good day.

Thanks for the start, Chele. You have had a lot warmer weather than we have had of late. We are expecting a cold front later in the weekend and might have some snow showers (no accumulation they say) Sunday night into Monday. Nice grouping on the apples. You're sure your headache isn't from beef tongue cooking? The gwumpkis sound really good. I think the kibble hunt was successful. I added one variety to my Chewy autoship for next week and will pick up a couple others after Osteo this week. I can't start her on anything until Friday, so I should have everything by then. We'll see how it goes. She will get a cup of kibble for breakfast and will get her usual dinner.
Becky, with as corrupt as Paxton is, how did he get elected? Sounds like even if he gets a Trump pardon, he may not be out of the woods in Travis County. The vet also mentioned Purina as an option. I think they have improved their quality over the years. I subscribe to a newsletter called the Whole Dog Journal and they do a huge list of recommendations each year. They also recommend that, rather than just feed the same thing, that you get a few options and rotate them. So I picked out one with turkey, another with beef, and a third with fish and will get 4 lb bags so we can see if she likes any of them. I saw the Texas game was canceled for today. It almost seems like there are more games canceled than being played right now. Not good!
When I worked in Austin, Linda, we had a gecko we named Fred who frequently visited our office. One day his tail was shorter than normal and then he disappeared. We missed him. I know GW will appreciate the donations. I really need to let go of some things that I haven't worn since we moved here. I just can't seem to part with them, despite the room they are taking up in the closet. It's comforting to know that the Supreme Court hasn't been corrupted like a lot of the rest of the government has been. The last I heard, "legal fund" donations are close to a quarter of a billion. That should help his personal legal fund and to pay down his debts. Trump convinced a lot of states not to count early votes until election day, knowing they wouldn't be able to count them all by that night. Then he claimed they should have stopped counting at the end of the day so he would win. He had a lot of plans to get elected but none to do it fairly. Have you heard anything on the vaccines in your area? TN is apparently only getting enough to do about 1/4 of the frontline healthcare workers from the Pfizer batch. I'm ready for February 1. We had a better night than either of us thought we would. She woke up around 1 a.m. and tried to scratch the ear. Then about 2:30, she let out an ungodly YELP, probably rolled over on the ear. She's almost normal today--ate a full breakfast and went out a few times with Dale for a short walk. Otherwise she has been asleep on the couch next to me. It's really tough to keep the weight off when you can't do much of anything. Since it's getting cooler, could you take Micki for more walks? On balance, have you thought about a wobble board or a balance disc? Either one would be helpful and both are small enough to store under a desk or bed when not in use. Have you tried wall sits for leg strength? I can hold 90 seconds but need to be sure I have good footing because I have fallen on my butt before.
Kathy, OMG on the avatar! I guess the bears are back. Were you able to find the FSU game on the radio? Vandy is so bad this year that if this isn't an easy win for TN, they are the worst team in the SEC. Your temps are going up and ours are going down. Do your Honeycrisps taste as good as they look? I think a few bowl games have already been canceled. I did just see something scroll along the bottom of the screen on SEC network that mentioned the date and time for the Rose Bowl, so it's still on. But CA is closed, so I wonder if it will go as currently scheduled. We have clouds today too with off and on rain. Good day to stay inside and cuddle with a pup.
Have a good weekend, Denise! Any special plans for your time off?
Liz, I hope things are going well with the pups and Gary. Is the tree decorated or did it come that way?
We have a quiet day here but Arya's appetite is back and she doesn't seem to be in a lot of pain. We just have to forego the crunchy treats and biscuits for the time being. I've spent a lot of time online with GFs. In addition to the one with symptomatic covid, we have one who took a nasty fall and shattered her ankle. She has had surgery and is in a rehab center where she will be for at least 6 weeks. She's 7 hours away and the facility doesn't have visiting hours anyway, so we're trying to figure out how we can help her. She is the same one whose elder son committed suicide just before covid. She's had a rougher year than most people.

Every third time I read ww or FB someone else or their friend or family has COVID. Today a good friend's lifelong friend died and she had not been very sick on the weekend. It escalates suddenly. Scary.
and I keep hearing people getting nails done, visiting grandkids who go to in person school....forgetting masks...eating out. Argggg.
you might want some kibble after the soft food to act as a tooth brush. Micki is now addicted to Greenies..the petite for dogs 15-25 pounds.
woke early, stayed in bed until 10:30...why get up? Dog got a long walk ..a mile is long for him. Did a bit in the yard. Spent a long time printing recent articles from news on election that will not die madness for one file (AZ involved) and COVID relAted for the other. The last is as thick now as it would be end of month.
DH has it down to last 11 boxes, but the books are stacked by languages on shelves and then he has to sort them into how he wants them and pull out ones to get rid of. So far four boxes of books going away.

Thanks for the start Chele. I did go for a 2 mile walk this afternoon after we got home from getting Kenneth a new cell phone. His old one quit charging overnight so we had to go to Verizon. My shoulder has felt better the last 2 days. Our high was only 60 today but the sun was shining. I don't even want to imagine how bad beef tongue smelled.
Karen What brand of kibble did you decide on? Scooter doesn't seem to like the latest flavor as much as she did the one before but she will eat it. Lately she has only been eating her kibble once a day plus all the people food she can get. Kenneth found an old blanket outside and put it on her recliner in the yard and she spends most of the time on it now. She would rather be out there. She will stay in for breakfast and usually comes in for lunch but not for dinner. Kenneth finally can get her inside around 8-8:30 for the night. She is independent.

Karen, sorry about your friend. She has had more than her fair share of grief and pain. Good mews that Arya has her appetite. Is she wearing the soft cone? I hope she likes the kibble.
Becky, I am glad the shoulder is better. I bet the cats are happy Scooter is spending more time outside.
Waving to the rest of the crew.
I am making the quiche today. Iggy decided to make the stuffed cabbage yesterday. My homemade sauerkraut was not bad. I put in a touch too much caraway seeds and it needs more than 3 weeks to ferment, but still not bad and cheaper than store bought.

Becky, great news on the shoulder improvement. What have you been doing to help that happen? How do you feel after your 2-mile walk yesterday? Will you be exceeding 60 degrees today? We should be almost there later this afternoon. The brands I will buy for Arya will be Earthborn Holistic, Open Farm, and Zignature. The latter is the brand Liz had Zoe and Ralphie on before they lost Ralphie. These seemed to be the ones that checked all my boxes. I don't care for the Omega 3:6 profile of chicken, lamb can mess with taurine levels, and peas aren't that good for dogs. So many foods are grain-free these days and that's fine for dogs who have allergies, which as far as I know she doesn't. So no reason to buy that. It's actually getting tougher to find a quality food that isn't grain-free. Scooter definitely has her own mind. Funny about the blanket being a draw for her to stay in her chair.
What kind of quiche are you making, Chele? Glad you enjoyed the kraut. Caraway seeds can be a bit overpowering. How many weeks will you let it ferment next time you make it? We have the cone standing by in case Arya starts to bother the ear. She has pretty much been supervised, so if she starts to have any issues, one of us will be there to intervene. I hope she likes the kibble as well. We did start her on Taste of the Wild puppy food when she first came here, so dry food is something she has had before.
Denise, I hope you found what you were looking for on your shopping trip and found some good bargains. We had overcast weather yesterday but it's sunny now. We're expecting rain tomorrow, so overcast will return. I'm glad you didn't have snow, as long as the temperatures were warm enought that it wasn't freezing rain.
Happy St. Lucy's Day, Linda. I don't think I'll be wearing a candle wreath on my head. I like your street scene. Let's go! We can do lunch there and then jet over to Paris for chocolat chard and a pastry at the original La Broiche Doree on Rue de Rivoli. I'll have the chocolate hazelnut croissant. Most of the locations in the US are in airports, and are a far cry from the street locations in Paris. DMIL's poodle was seriously addicted to Greenies but that also gave us something to buy the pup for Christmas. I can imagine how thick your December covid file is already, given the escalation in cases and everything dealing with the vaccine. Hopefully those files will be thinner as 2021 progresses.
Kathy, congrats to FSU on the win over the Dookies. Pretty decisive. Did you get to listen? We did find the App State game on the ESPN app through Roku so we got to watch that win. Do you have a seasonal day? Did you see SNL? The Christmas with the Rona Family was hysterical!
Good luck this week, Liz, as the vaccine administration begins.
I took the early Arya supervision shift while Dale ran the neighborhood. Then he relieved me so I could do a little straightening up in the studio and get some things I don't use often moved down to the storage area now that we have shelves. I also wanted to pull out a lap throw to send to my friend at the rehab center and found one that I think will be perfect. Now all I need is to ensure they will accept packages at the facility. My plan for the afternoon is to get a few Christmas cards ready to mail. It won't be many--a few to extended family and ones to my GFs. I sent the family ones with their gifts so that saved extra postage costs.
