Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today. It's a beautiful sunny day here in Maryland, but we're supposed to get thunderstorms tonight and tomorrow.
Ginny - Too late, I clicked on that link and read it It was cute, thanks for sharing. I'm glad to hear you are getting close to the end of settling your mother's estate.
We were so fortunate that my father's estate was easy. I feel sorry for whoever will have to deal with mine because there will always be something that I own that will only have my name on it and I know they will have to deal with probate. I do have a will and beneficiaries on everything I can put them on.
I hadn't really heard about the cake recipes you've been talking about but saw a video on them yesterday. They look very interesting, please let us know how that works out for you with your quiltmaking.
Ruth - I admire the way you are able to make adjustments to those crochet patterns, I'm sure you're work is beautiful.
Meg and Phyl - Hope you are both well.
I didn't get any crafting in today, did my grocery shopping and errands while the weather is nice. Two of my weekly blocks are due out today so I need to get to the websites and download the patterns. Hopefully I'll work on them later this week and finish up the Easter quilt.
I picked up an old crochet project last night and crocheted 4 rows while I was watching TV. I just needed to feel something in my hands.
Take care eveyone!

Ruth, those fingerless glloves sound so cute- and I do like the idea of the faux cables. Perhaps this summer I will give them a try- you have mentioned that they are pretty easy. Oh, I just noticed there is another page....I will sign off and see who has posted on page 2! Ginny

Hey CJ- yes we all need to feel something in our hands from time to time what was the old crochet project you took on last night. Not that you need inspiration- you get a lot of quilting time in, but that Craftsy blog was a hoot, wasn't it? Well, the important thing is that you do have a will- so that your desire to settle your estate is accomplished.
I heard from MSQ and have hopefully added the fabric to my wish list and will be able to work on the quilt in the summer.
Yes, I did get all the estate stuff mailed out...after getting it notarized, and closing out the estate bank account. Let's hope that the County accepts it all....and I am truly done.
And yes, I also get the idea that Ruth does beautiful work.
Hi to Meg and Phyl. We had a nice day here- I got to spend a few minutes on the deck reading and praying. Hoping and praying that DD and her family can find a house they can afford. THey saw a nice house this evening but there are 11 others interested. Wow......I keep praying....
Have a good night. Ginny

Ginny, i just stopped and prayed that your dd will find a house that will work well for them in all respects and I'll put that on my prayer list.
Thank you so much for the great compliments Ladies. I've seen pics of Ginny's work so I know you do beautiful work Ginny and I know that CJ makes beautiful quilts. I'd bet that Meg and Phyl make very beautiful things too.
CJ there's nothing at all wrong with making something for it's artistic value.
I didn't know that estates were so complicated. I know that my ds and ddil had a time with her mother's estate but it didn't seem to take very long and same with my sil's mother's estate. Maybe things are simpler here in Wyoming. I do need to make a will though. We don't really have one as I said...the only thing I have is a very old very simple one that says everything goes to my children and that's it and it was done in NY so I don't even know if that's valid here or not.
It's not warm enough yet to be out on the deck but it should be next Friday. They originally said this Friday would be close to 70 but now that's been lowered but predicted for next week.
I'm now working on a pair of fingerless gloves that are called challenge gloves. They're shell stitch and done in the round so no seam...yay. The challenge is that the designer says she made her shorter pair in an hour and the longer ones in 1 hr 10 min and she challenged others to do the same. I can't say how long it takes me because I start and stop. These ones, Ginny, really are easy. The faux cable ones are hard in that it's hard to find the back look behind the slip stitch.
Well going to go and work on those "one hour" gloves some more. I hope to see Meg and maybe Phyl here later. I know Phyl keeps herself very busy.
Have a wonderful and blessed evening.

I know it is time for bed but I have had a busy day and tomorrow will be busy as well. I haven't had time to work on my afghan today.
Ruth, you asked about the number of colors I will be using. Well I don't know yet as I have a lot of yarn and I have been trying to use colors that work well together. That's why I like to check out the afghans on the computer to get ideas.
Ginny, I will pray for your DD to find a house that will suit all their needs.
cj, I enjoyed the bread making videos. I love bread and would probably eat too much of it with butter.
Now I need to get to bed. I hope you all sleep well. God Bless see you in the morning.

Good morning!
Meg, prayers that your busy day goes well- and that you can get everything done that you have to. Isn't today the last of the iron infusions? It would be nice if you could catch a few minutes to "read" and crochet! I am like you- I would eat too much bread if it were here. SOmetimes I do not make homemade bread for that reason.
Ruth- well how are the challenge gloves going? Now if it was me, it would probably take a week to finish one hour gloves. Did you find that pattern online? I would be curious to take a look at it.
Many thanks for all the prayers regarding DD and her housing. She is becoming nervous about moving her children with nowhere to go. I trust that the Lord has a plan....just hope that this prayer is answered soon.
Ruth, my mom's original will was drafted in NJ. We did have it updated in NY- but her lawyer said it was to be updated just to have it in a more modern format and to cover more circumstances. I do know that for most professions- NY is considered one of the most stringent. I do think it's a good idea to update it anyway- just to be safe.
My fabric at MSQ is discontinued! Boo hoo!!! I saw a similar set of fabrics at Craftsy.com- has anyone ever purchased fabric from them.?
LIttle kiddies have a half day so I must go. BBL Ginny

well I just lost my message...nothing to do with the boards but a msg popped up that my gdil posted on facebook to my comment on the video she posted showing my not even 7 month old greatgrand boy standing up. I still can't believe he is the spitting image of my dgs. He's, of course, adorable.
Meg, it sure does sound like you have a busy day and I'll be praying too that all goes well and you get to where you need to go and back home safely. Yes using up yarn that we have is always a challenge. Making these fingerless gloves and hats uses a lot of the little bits becuase you can put stripes in them to use up the little bits
Ginny, I'm sorry to hear that the fabric you wanted is discontinued. They seem always to do that to us with fabric and yarns. I've never bought fabric from Craftsy just yarn.Everything that I've said here is easy has all turned out to be a challenge. Not these gloves though. They truly are very easy and very fast and mine look like they'll be warm too. The designer obviously doesn't live in the US but the pattern is in US terms...anyway she suggests a yarn that isn't sold here and it seems like it's lighter than our ww yarn but I used Premier Mega brushed and it turned out great. I think next time I'll use a smaller hook though becuase the glove is a tiny bit looser than it should be. I could have easily got a pair or two done last evening if I hadn't kept stopping to do other things but that's life isn't it.Here's the link but I seem to have lost the original page I found it on which has a tutorial on it too. I must have clicked the wrong thing and it went to cyberspace so I did a search and found just the pdf for it
file:///C:/Users/It'sme-/Downloads/Challenge_Mitts_-_fully_tested_version%20(1).pdf
Yes my very simple will was done back in about 1985 so it sure needs to be updated and actually redone. I'd better look into that. Thanks for reminding me. It's just one more thing I keep putting off.

Ok those gloves are done. Now I'm going to make a pair of plain fingerless in Harry Potter colors because dd is a huge HP fan. I know nothing about HP actually but I made her a scarf for Christmas and now I'll make the matching fingerless.
Have a great day

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today
Ginny - It must be a really "hot" real estate market where you daughter is looking. I hope she can find a home soon. I've never bought anything from Craftsy. Did you do an Internet search of the fabric you are looking for? I've done that for fabrics and found what I needed at some online shops or even shops that have an online store. Good luck.
Ruth - The shell gloves sound interesting. Sounds like they were easy to make. I bet you enjoyed that picture of your great grandson
Meg - Hope your day hasn't been too busy
Phyl - Hope you are doing well
I finished putting the border on the Easter quilt today and I really enjoyed doing a piano key border. I will definitely do that again on another quilt. I did end up putting squares of the bunny fabric in each corner and after I finished sewing the last long border on I looked at it and the bunnies were upside down So I had to rip out the corner blocks, flip them, and sew them back in. I really have to remember to stop buying this repeating fabric though!
I also printed off all three weekly block patterns and have an idea of what fabric I want to use for them, hopefully I'll get them done this weekend.
I almost decided to drop out of the Moda Blockhead quilt when I saw all the tiny pieces for this week's block, but I'm going to give it a try.
Here are some links for you to look at:
Solstice Quilt, Block #16 (of 25) - www.ilovetomakequilts.com/ - scroll down the page to see pictures
Moda Blockheads Quilt - www.facebook.com/groups/253867175058745/ - Remember these blocks are only 6 inches in size!
National Quilters Circle - Block #7 (of 9) - www.nationalquilterscircle.com/article/block-7/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_campaign=A6198&vsoid=A6198title=
Take care everyone.

CJ yes they were extemely easy to do.
I don't care much for this weeks Solstice block but I LOVE the other two especially the first one that's shown right now on facebook..the moda blockheads one
I know your EAster quilt is beautiful but how frustrating to find the bunnies upside down. I think that it's really good that you repaired that immediately but then you probably aren't like me. I put those things off then they never get corrected.
I started the HP gloves but only got as far as finishing the cuff on the first one and am still working on doing the seam for that cuff. I hope to get them done tonight and I was thinking that I need to do a Finish it Friday and do all my seams and weave in all my ends. The nice thing about the shell glove is that it requires no seam and the HP gloves won't need one after I get the cuff seamed and work on the glove part.
Well off to work on the gloves again or I may look at my yarn stash and decide what yarn i'm going to use next.

evening, I got two junk drawers cleaned out today. amazing what we find. lots of pencils and pens will be going to salvation army or goodwill.
then it was the sewing room .decide to take apart the basket didn't like the 1/8 seam. don't think I caught it all. think when I trimmed the `1/4 seam I got some of the thread. should have left well enough alone. will buy some more fabric.. what I have here can be used for something else. I went to all the sites. pretty blocks.
how small are the pieces In that one block.?
ginny I will ad dd and kids to my prayer list.
we updated our wil a few years ago.no much the kids would want. I know they don't want my craft stuff.no jewelry of real value. some people are going more into trust funds now days then wills. guess with it helps with less probrate hassels.
I will knit tonight. phyl

Good morning Meg and those that come in later or are just reading our thread. I did the cuffs of both HP gloves last night and finished one glove so far this morning. I hope to get the other done today and I think I will. They have an interesting way of making the thumb opening. When I first read thru the pattern I was thinking to myself "where is the thumb opening instructions" then I realized that changing from spiral to doing rows and turning wasn't a mistake in their pattern, it was how they decided the opening would be made for the thumb. Sometimes I'm really slow on the uptake.. I didn't change colors the way they said to do it and I also had to change numbers of rows because I think this pattern is made for children and I didn't want the color pattern they have on there. After this one is done I'm going to make dd that angel wall hanging and MAYBE some of those tealight holders. Now that I got all that #10 thread to make them with I'm not all that sure that I want to make more of them. I have enough of the thread to probably make several billion of them... I get carried away sometimes. Also I got an email from one of the yarn companies mentioning a huge sale and I do love some of the yarn but I'm not buying anymore. I'm not sure I like the yarn I bought for youngest dgd's shawl so I may have to buy some that is more suitable for her. I don't know that any of the ones I have is the one I want to use.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are doing well today Phyl - Some of those squares in that quilt block are only 1 5/8 inches!!! That's why I was thinking about stopping, but I'm going to give it a try. I'm glad you are able to get some decluttering done. I really need to get motivated to do that. Meg - Hope you enjoyed your KnitWits group today. Ruth - Sounds like you are making a lot of progress with your glove projects. Good for you resisting buying more yarn Ginny - Hope you are doing well. Look at this easy, cute bunny table runner/mini-quilt: www.modabakeshop.com/2017/04/bunny-quartet-mini-quilt.html#comment-9855 - I think I'll make it. I had hoped to get some material cut today, but didn't get to it. I did press some fabrics for the 6 inch block and I found a 1930s Reproduction fat quarter I had in a lilac with bunnies on it. I'm going to use that to make the bunny piece. I may only do 2 or 3 bunnies so it will be more of a mat than a table runner. Hopefully I'll get my material cut and the three blocks done this weekend. Take care everyone!

CJ, the bunny project is really nice. I saw that someone said it would make a good baby quilt and I agree. I also think that your mat sounds like a fantastic idea. I've never thought of mats but now that you mentioned it I can think of a lot of uses for them.
Since I finished the glove dh woke up so I visited with him and we ordered some things online. Not yarn though. I did order a frying pan that I want and a couple other things for me and some for dh. It's just too easy to order online nowdays. Some I ordered to pick up at the store so will go out next week to get those and take care of some business but in the meantime I shoujld have plenty of time to work on my crochet projects. I read somewhere that today is officially no housework day but I will do a little bit.
Ginny, IT'S FRIDAY!
