Good afternoon CJ and Phyl and to Ginny when she comes in.
Phyl, I'm glad all your virus testing came out negative. I've been feeling under the weather too. Feel a lot better than I did yesterday though
CJ, I guess they put ginger in with "spices" . It's gotta have ginger. My mother used to make gingerbread...from scratch of course. She served it with lemon sauce. I made it once. Dh didn't care for it and I found that it didn't live up to my childhood memories. the only baking I did today was cookies from the dough I had in the fridge.. Make that the other day.
I called dtv again this morning and cancelled that extra insurance and told the woman why. I also went down to their lowest package which is not listed online. The woman I talked to was very kind and helpful and really seemed to be trying to help. She's the one that found the package that isn't listed online. Dh didn't want the hassle of returning equipment right now is why I kept any of it at all.
Got an email from a friend I hadn't heard from in quite awhile. It was great hearing from her as she is a fantastic woman.

Good evening and a happy Christmas Eve.
Ruth, glad you were able to get through to direct TV and get things straightened out.....sort of. Congrats on finding a smaller package than what is online- hope it works out for you. Believe me, I found the process of returning their equipment a huge hassle and never expected to have to drive all over the county to find the right UPS location.
CJ- glad you made your gingerbread - that is something you like and well we do have to allow ourselves treats, right? Bet it tastes great and I can imagine the smell of it baking is wonderful. Dont blame you one bit for not doing much on the double slice quilt top. I can imagine that is a project you really have to wrap your head around to make sure that the layout is not repetitive or simply reversed blocks. It will be a fun project for you- but you’ll have to keep on your toes to make sure that each block aligns as you like. Were you able to complete your book and get any embroidery in?
Phyl- so very sorry to hear that you are not feeling well- but its great news that all tests came back negative. rest up and I hope you are feeling better tomorrow. Glad that you got an. A+ from the nurse too on giving yourself your trulicity.
Went to church this evening with Dd#2 and her Dh. Had everyone here for a light dinner beforehand.. Ds has to work tomorrow, so we got together today. It was hectic but fun. I am enjoying the peace and quiet now, however. Its super windy out there and raining pretty hard. I pray that I do not lose power and am able to keep the house dry with all this rain.. I did get the mug organizer done for Jane- its cute, I would change the directions a bit...but overall the project is a good one. The directions were fair- leaving something to be desired...but I did figure it out.
Have a good night all Ginny

MERRY CHRISTMAS to you all Hope everyone is doing well today and enjoying the holiday. After the rain yesterday, it's very cold here today and we've had some snow showers which was a nice Christmas gift for me. It's rare to see snow here on Christmas Day. I did finish the book I was reading and started another one that came out yesterday. I'm also working on the embroidery piece. I picked a variegated thread to do this piece and now I'm not sure I like it because the light part of the thread doesn't show up very well. I've only done a little bit and I'm thinking that maybe I should just take that out and pick another thread in a solid color. I'll enjoy some more gingerbread today. I'm also watching some of the Christmas movies on the Hallmark channels, and tonight is the yearly Call the Midwife special on PBS. I enjoy watching that each year. Have a wonderful day!

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas. CJ,enjoy that gingerbread. Are you going to have a special meal with it too? Do you receive gifts from anyone. Dh and I give little things to one another but that's it for gifts.
Ginny, enjoy your Christmas with your family. Small children really add to the enjoyment.
Dh loved the pocket scarf. He saw me making it and I think he suspected it was for him.

So, I am back.....been a busy day for sure and I am short on sleep. THis am I went to Dd#1’s house and watched the kids open their gifts. That was a lot of fun- then came home - straightened up a bit and got ready for dinner. DD#2 and DSIL stopped in for dinner and to open gifts when Ds came home from work. All in all it was a lovely day
Phyl— sounds like you had a busy day visiting....glad you got to see Jeana, Carrie, Kyle and the girls. Will you see Margie, Tom , his son and girlfriend another day? I too am in my pajamas- hope you were able to relax and read.....
Ruth, I have always appreciated that your Dh really appreciates the gifts you make for him! What color pocket scarf did you make for him?
CJ- sounds like the big cold front came through to your area. What a pretty treat to see the light snow fall!! And you did not have to clean up a thing!! That is the best yet! Congrats on finishing your book- hope that the next book is a great read. What did you decide to do with the variegated thread? I thought I would use variegated thread on the panel quilts- and for the same reason as you stated, I decided to use plain red thread.
Despite an insane amount of wind and heavy rain, I kept my power. So very thankful for that. Watching a Hallmark channel movie and enjoying some quiet time.
Merry Christmas all Ginny

I've been in pajamas all day .I put on some split pea soup to simmer. Dh will have roast beef left from what he ate last night. I'm not sure yet what I'll eat. It's about 7 now so guess I better decide Phyl and Ginny, it sounds like you both had a good time with family. I'm glad the weather was good enough that you could travel to where you needed to go. I'm looking in the crochet groups and online to get ideas for making gifts for grandaughter who will be 16 and one that will be 12, and then for my ddil.

Hello Everyone Ruth - Sounds like you had a relaxing day yesterday. Isn't it fun looking around the internet for new projects? Hope you find some good ones to work on. Ginny - I'm glad you kept your power and made it through the storm, hopefully you'll getting the clear weather I have today. Sounds like you had fun with the grandkids, it's always great to watch the excitement children have at Christmas. Phyl - I'm glad you were able to spend Christmas with your loved ones. Hope you enjoyed your evening. I did go ahead and take out the variegated thread I'd already used on my embroidery project. I'd only done two needles worth, so it wasn't much. This design has 3 interlocking ring/loops so I'm using 3 different solid colors to do this project now. I'm also just about done with the new book I started yesterday. It's about the 10th book or so in a series I've been reading for a few years, so it's enjoyable to catch up with favorite old characters. I went out this morning to mail a few bills. It's cold but sunny here today. I should be doing things around the house, but I'm not feeling motivated Take care everyone and have a great day!

Ruth, staying in pajamas all day sounds wonderful- and a great way to spend a day!! Dh used to love split pea soup- gotta say if it was up to me I would make navy bean soup- which I much prefer to pea soup;. Are the gifts you are planning on making going to be for upcoming birthdays? So silly, you would think after all these years of posting on the thread here together we would remember our families special days. Its always nice when a birthday is remembered, however.
CJ- had a feeling you would take that variegated thread. How neat that you will be using three different color threads for the interlocking rings.... that sounds really cool and I bet will look wonderful. Tomorrow is another day to get your chores done around the house...its the one thing I love about winter, no pressure to go outside and garden- we can stay inside and read /crochet/quilt. Wow- you blew through that book!!! Must have been a captivating story indeed.
So I collapsed on the couch last night- only to wake up at 10 pm to realize that I lost power. We went into the 20’s last night.....and I was concerned it I should start up the wood burner. Thankfully, the utility company texted me frequently on the outage, and power was back on by 2 am. Getting all those texts kept me up!! I did get some reading in....before the power came back on. Pretty silly sitting at the kitchen table reading to candle light.
Hope to get to work on DGN baby quilt. Ginny

Realized that I was better off washing the fabric before I started cutting- it just looked like it needed freshening up. So in the wash it went....will iron tomorrow. Have a great night all G

Hello Everyone Ginny - I'm sorry to hear you lost power but glad that it came back on before too long. Hope you can get your fabrics ready to work on the quilt. I finished the quilt top with the French General Le Beau Papillion fabrics and I'm happy with how it came out. My sewing was actually pretty good with these blocks and the seams lined up well. I didn't trim the blocks before I pieced them, I'm too lazy for that I don't know if I'd make this pattern again, even though it was pretty easy. I think I will just put a binding on this one and it would be nice to have an overall quilting pattern on it. Here are a few pictures of the quilt top which finished at 54x63 (one is finished top, one is a close-up of fabrics and one is a close-up of a block): Take care everyone and have a good day

That was sure fast, CJ, and it's beautiful. I love the small prints and especially love the butterfly fabric. It will be an amazing quilt and a good size one also.
I don't know why I never got here yesterday or at least got back. I did do a few things. Can't remember now what they were. But I did start a pocket shawl for my grandaugter that will turn 12 on Feb 3rd. I'm making it with Red heart with Love and in the Alpine stitch. In the last couple days I did make a couple earwarmers and started a had which is interesting because it's in a spiral...has little blocks swirling to the top. I have to finish that one.
It was pretty warm yesterday but too much wind. Now the wind has died down because it did it's wind duty of blowing in snow which it's doing right now.I'll probably bake a couple things today

CJ- you did an awesome job with this pattern and I do love the fabrics!!! It reminds me of a quilt DD#2 made about 10 years ago- similar fabrics in color and tone. Yes, ma’am your seams line up well and its so very very pretty. Think I like the large red floral (top row of the picture of a block) best...but all the fabrics are pretty and it makes for such a lovely quilt top. You got it done quickly also...are you considering sending this one out for long arming? You mentioned something about an all over quilt design.
Phyl, so glad to hear that you are feeling better!! Yes get together with the rest of the family another time, its important to stay healthy and rest up. Hope you can get some machine time in this week.
Ruth, what wonderful things did you bake today? Yes, I have had days like that, where I think I got here twice or even once and never made it at all. I learn something from you almost every day...had to look up the alpine stitch- which is really neat. Like the twisted texture of it, and I bet its stunning in a pocket shawl. What color are you making the pocket shawl in?
Got my fabric pressed and will cut it tomorrow for the panel quilt. I am undecided how large a border to make on this- I am tempted to use a 6 inch border (got the fabric to do so). And as I am tired, its too late to make a final decision on that now.
Have a great night all Ginny
