good morning, Today I want to work on my kitty wall hanging.think one piece is a little larger then the other two. having a hard time getting the 3 pieces lined up to match for pinning before sewing. tried stretching the batting or cotton a little and that does not work.
think the top has to be cut a little more even.
sun is out today. think our high will be 27.we have a storm coming tomorrow.phyl

Hey Phyl- good to see you crafting again! Hope that you can trim the piece necessary to make it all work - so that it all goes together well. Hope that an additional trimming does not interfere with the pattern either!
Got a nice walk with my friend in late this am. Will start cutting the border for the baby quilt. Ginny

Quiet here today!
I had hoped to get the border pinned on and sewn on the panel, but all I did was get it cut. Will sew it on tomorrow. DD and DSIL stopped over to drop off their kitten- am kitten sitting for 2 days. Have a good night all G

Phyl, I'm sorry that one of the pieces of your quilt doesn't match the other two. Is it something you can fix without the whole thing being messed up? I hope you will be able to devise a way to make it work
Ginny, well sometimes things happen that can keep you from doing something you've planned. Having your dd and dsil come over, I'm sure, was a pleasant and welcome interruption. It will be interesting to see how their kitten gets along with yours
It was a busy day today. I did some cleaning then baked, then cleaned again. It all tired me out so now I'm just sitting and crocheting and watching a dvd on my laptop. I sure hope this laptop keeps functioning esp the dvd player because it's very handy to be able to watch them on here.
CJ and Sue, I hope you both had an enjoyable or at least a restful day

Ruth, now that you got so much cleaning done, come on back to NY and help me clean here!! Ha ha ha....but cleaning sure does take more work than you think. it would be nice if you could take a break form cleaning for awhile, but it does not always work that way, does it? Its always a bit of a shock how dust and dirt always seem to “get there” and as you cook a lot, kitchens are messy places to be. I know your Dh appreciates your prowess in the kitchen for sure. Are you working on the pocket shawl for DGD? How nice that you are able to watch DVD’s on that nice portable lap top!! I use my IPad similarly and enjoy watching shows on it. Nice to have a portable option, especially if Dh is sleeping or watching something
Well the two kittens are not fighting, but coexisting - sort of. I am trying hard to make sure that both are petted...with a little extra love for Sweet Tea. Sweet Tea, a full year old, is a small cat...DD’s kitten at 9 months old is a large cat. Just funny to see the difference in the two.

Hello Everyone Phyl - I'm glad you figured out a way to get the panel to work, good luck with getting it done. It really is cold there, hope the snow storm isn't too bad and that you'll be able to stay home. Ruth - Hope today is less busy for you, but I'm sure it feels good to get some cleaning and cooking done. And I hope your laptop keeps working. My DVD that I have hooked up to my TV will not let the "door" open no matter what I do, so I guess it's dead. It's frustrating since there were several Christmas DVDs I would have liked to watch. Ginny - I'm glad the two kittens are getting along and hope that continues. Hope you were able to get your sewing done on the panel. It's been sunny here but cold and today it's windy. Still not bad weather for December. I had a dental cleaning this morning. I wasn't looking forward to it, but I don't like going to the dentist anyway. They seem to have pretty good safety procedures in place although I did have to wait in the waiting room for about 5 minutes with 3 other people. I thought they would take me straight to the exam room. I also had to ride in an elevator but only for 2 floors and I was alone. Still these are the places where there is a chance to catch the virus, but hopefully I'll be safe. I haven't worked on any quilting. I am working on a list of things I'd like to do next year. I'll set some goals and hopefully finish some of them. I do hope to finish up the small embroidery piece over the next few days. Take care everyone!

CJ- think if you look at the most likely places in which you would be able to contract Covid, you were in none of them. While I know its upsetting (I had a doctor appointment also today) and we don’t like going out in this, I am really glad you went and got the cleaning done. Most health care professionals are super cautious with how they are treating patients and all the precautions taken. I am sure you were wearing a mask and washed your hands well after you got home. I will pray for your safety and protection and that you were not exposed. Hope you can relax and finish that small embroidery piece....
Phyl- well if you find the wizard remember to watch out for the man behind the curtains pulling the strings....(straight from the movie, the Wizard of Oz).
DD’s trip was cancelled....DSIL’s sister (who they were supposed to visit) was concerned over Covid exposure. I am very glad they did not go. Roger, her kitten is home now....and my cats do seem more relaxed that he is gone.
Got started working on the panel quilt. Will finish putting on the border tonight and start putting it all together. I figure by tomorrow I will be working on the quilting of it. Ginny

Hello all. I'm late again today. It's cold here but was sunny and no wind so it was not bad. Today I tried to organize my yarn again and got some done but I do have a long way to go and way too much yarn. I did bake a loaf of regular sandwich bread...it's baking right now in fact. I hope it turns out ok because after I followed the recipe carefully the dough was much too wet and I had to add more flour than was called for. Then I spent some time looking at bagel recipes. That's for another day though.
CJ, I'm glad you got that cleaning taken care of. It's good to be able to check those things off our lists. I would say that the chances of you contacting the virus are pretty low. It's sad that ;you had to sit in a waiting room but if all wore masks it will be ok. When we went on our little trip and ended up having to go to a town near where we were to get new tires we also had to wait with others but it all worked out ok and for that I am thankful. I, too, will pray for protection for you.
Phyl, I'm glad you were able to fix the panel so that it will work ok. I hope you don't get too much snow.
Ginny, I'm glad your dd's sil is being cautious. Yes your dd and her dh probably were looking forward to visiting but better safe than sorry. From what I've heard, MOST of the time when young people do contact covid they mostly feel like they have a bad flu and don't suffer any complications but who wants to take that chance. It's funny that your kitten only tolerated your dd's kitten when she plays with your older cat ok. I guess she can tell that this kitten doesn't really belong

Good mornng all- Ruth, I do have a good enough bagel recipe, which I can post for you if you like. The smell of baking bread is wonderful....are you able to enjoy any of it? think you eat gluten free. Yes, glad Dd and DSIL stayed home....with Dd pregnant, I wonder how that would work out- and how the baby might be impacted by Covid. How did the bread turn out? Lots of times its ok to add more flour as long as its not a huge amount. There are so many different factors in making bread- type of flour, ambient temperature and humidity being the most impactful (in my experience).
Think there were 2 issues with the 2 kittens. My new little girl is slowly but surely acclimating herself to a new home, she has only been here 3 weeks but is making good strides. DD’s kitten is pretty much used to running the house when he is here, so he was in for a shock to find another cat here. They are kittens with 2 completely different personalities....have a feeling that if they meet again, they will be ok.
Got to start putting the border on the baby quilt. I did take out part of the border - the border was not as evenly sewn on as I would like, so I will readjust that this morning. Then on to assembly and the stipple. Ginny

Ginny, yes I would love the bagel recipe. The bread turned out great although, since I baked it in a loaf pan it ended up with a muffin top so not even sandwich slices but that's fine. Dh usually uses it for toast and I know you both know that homemade bread is great toasted. Ginny, I keep forgetting to answer your question about gluten. I've pretty much given up on eating gluten free and it doesn't seem to be changing anything. I'll still try to keep it at a minimum.I don't eat much bread and bread products anyway. Homemade bread is mostly for dh. I don't eat calzones or much of the desserts I make for him. And yes, he has diabetes but despite the way he eats (although he's getting better at portion control) his A1c stays good.I hope this pandemic clears out soon so he will go and have another done.
It's cold today and also very windy and no sun so it's a dreary and cold miserable day. Good day for crocheting.
Well if your dd's kitty comes over often your kitty will get used to him. Are they both neutered? My son should have had his poor dog spayed since she's mostly outside. I guess since she didn't have puppies until she was over 9 that they thought she was infertile. They were just lucky with their previous dog because she also ran free a lot and never had puppies. (they live in a pretty open space with no close neighbors)

Ruth, today ended up being a bit longer than I hoped- will get that bagel recipe out tomorrow. Glad Dh is doing better with portion control and that his A1C is good. Has to be awfully hard for you to resist eating all the wonderful baked goods you make.
I made that minor correction on the quilt border- and will be putting it all together tomorrow.
All kitties are neutered. As much as I love cats as pets there are way too many because many do not get their pets neutered.
Ended up going to BJ’s for a curbside pickup order.... Ginny

Hello - Happy New Year's Eve Does anyone have plans for tonight? Hope you enjoy your evening. Ginny - Hope you were able to fix the borders on the quilt and get started on the quilting. Ruth - I'm glad your bread turned out great. Phyl - Hope you are getting some crafting done. Sue - If you check in, I hope you are well. The weather has been pretty mild here and the week ahead doesn't look bad either. I made some bread pudding yesterday and it turned out good, so I'm enjoying that. I started a list of 2021 quilting/needlework goals and the list just kept getting bigger and bigger, so I realize I'm going to need to cut it down to more realistic goals. There are a few that I definitely want to do this coming year: - The monthly Rainbow Scrap Challenge - I think I will try string blocks and maybe one or two other blocks this year - Using a specialty ruler each month - I have about 10 of these rulers such as log cabin, pineapple block, mariner's compass, tri-recs, 15 degree, etc. I plan to at least try to make one block with the ruler and then if I like it I can make a larger quilt - Finish hand quilting a hand pieced sampler I made probably about 20 years ago. I'd sure love to get this one done. - Embroider the barn block pattern that I've already traced for the Hole in the Barn quilt wall hanging - Make some quilts using the kits/patterns I've put together from my own fabrics - Use some of the panels I have to make quilts I need to stop here, there is so much more I want to do Since I hadn't done any quilting for a few days I decided to make one last quilt block for 2020. I found instructions for this small Lemoyne Star block so I made one this morning to see if I would like to make something this small - it measures 3.5 x 3.5. I do like how cute it is, but it's hard working with the tiny pieces. I have instructions for a 6 inch star and might try that one too. Take care everyone
