WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (thereforeacknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going.

Happy New Year!!! It feels great to start the year in maintenance mood. First time ever!!!! Last night, DH and I enjoyed a drink by the fireplace w/ shrimp cocktail and a plate of light cheeses, turkey pepperoni, multigrain crackers...just enough to feel like a little celebration.
Nancy, Great day yesterday!! I think you’ll really like the cheesecake, blending it made it even better. Between the chocolate mug cake and the cheesecake, I’ve been enjoying really good desserts!!
Jan, hope you enjoyed last night!! My DH is the same way, I just get the looks instead of the verbal, is it time to leave....learning to ignore...lol Thanks for the recipe - I love taking a recipe and lighting it up! Last night, I made a light version of potatoes au gratin, for a treat with honey mustard salmon...so good! Jan, wanted to ask regarding strength training, what is the minimum I need to do to maintain muscle?? I’ve been doing 2 days 15 minutes with hand weights..
Kathy, Hope you enjoyed your New Year’s Eve! Loving my exercise bike, it’s compact, quiet and can convert from upright to recumbent position - plus easily folds and rolls to move or store. Right now, I have it in my living room. Pedaling as I type - I plan to start out just getting on throughout the day instead of sitting and tracking my daily totals. Then increase from there....

Happy New Year!
I had planned to take the tree and a few of my decorations down today, but I’ve decided to relax. I started a new series on HBO Max yesterday, so I’ll watch a few episodes, probably nap, and work on my puzzle. Oh, and do a giant load of laundry. I was glad I got out for my run when I did; the sleet was starting just as I turned back onto my road, and the pouring rain began not long after that.
Lori, I grabbed the ingredients for the cheesecake when I was in the grocery store yesterday. I’m looking forward to making it. I got 2% cottage cheese, couldn’t remember if it called for that or non-fat. If you can add a third day of weights that would be good, but you’ll certainly notice a difference with 2 days. Glad you’re enjoying the bike!
Kathy, I hope you did better with your eating last night than I did. I’m not tracking today, but I am going to make better choices.

Down another 1.5 lbs this morning. Slowly but surely. Weighed in at 141 which I would record as 142.5. 2.5 to go, though I'd probably continue in the same mode if I ever get there.
Lori - I never heard back about the ramekins. I guess I'll go over there one of these days or maybe they'll respond after the holiday. The bike sounds fabulous.
Jan - Sounds like a pleasant day. We need to treat ourselves to a relaxing day every now and then.
