Today is the first blank page of a 365 page book. Write a good one." ~ Brad Paisley 2021- New Year, Mindful Beginnings The new year is here. At this time, many of us find ourselves reflecting on what has changed in our lives, what we are looking forward to, and what we would like to change.
Taking a moment to breathe and reflect on the things that matter most to you in your life can be extremely beneficial.
Care for yourself, and if you can, take just one minute a day to sit quietly, focus on your breathing, and be in the momentโฆright here, right now. After your minute, take a few seconds to think of something youโre looking forward to, and meet the day- and the new year with a clearer mind and more focused intentions.
Thoughts ?
Anyone setting any goals for 2021 ?

I am hoping Pam sees this thread and checks in. She has been on other threads today (Dec 31) I like this idea of taking 1 minute each day to breathe deep and sit quietly. I am going to work on incorporating this into my morning starting today (Jan 1).
Goals for 2021 ?
Last January 1, I weighed 183.8 pounds and this morning (Dec 31) I weighed 163.4. That means I am within 3.4 pounds of my goal weight. My goal is to hit that mark this year (2021) (hopefully in the next month or so) and then stay there and not let my weight creep up like it did.
I also want to get myself much more organized. That will be an ongoing work in progress throughout the coming year.

Happy New Year to everyone!
For 2021 - Adding in some harder-for-me things.
During most of the past year (from late February/early March onward, when stay-home orders and shut-downs started) I've still been able to do quite a few things I'd planned to do. They have been mainly crafting and creative and leisure type activities. While I am keeping faith that the new year will eventually offer the chance to return to or start some "out of the house" goals (join community center, attend classes) I'm not waiting for that to happen. I'm likely to be near the end of the end of the vaccine distribution, so that is a factor as well.
Some of the harder-for-me things include activity - thus my goal for this round - doing SOMETHING intentional daily, some sort of intentional activity. I'm pretty sure the Weight Watchers studio isn't going to open up again here. I attended a virtual meeting this past week. That'll work. In general, I'm going to be intentionally looking for ways to make things work in the current situation.

First a comment on yesterday's thread. I did stay up until midnight and the new year, mostly because I was finishing watching a movie. My daughter texted me at midnight and when I answered her text she called me. We talked a few minutes then I finished my movie and went to bed. There were a few fireworks earlier in the evening from about a mile or so away at an area that has a few people living there plus some summer homes. I could see the fireworks but barely hear them.
2021 - I don't see things changing much until maybe sometime in the summer as COVID won't be going away very soon. I don't think my life will change much either from the way it has been in 2020. I do have a few goals. I am at goal so I want to keep the weight from coming back and to be more active during the day, including doing exercise regularly. I was up two pounds last week, this morning I am down a quarter of a pound. Hopefully it will be more by next Friday.
My new year's wish is for everyone to be able to accomplish the goals they have set.

I like the idea of deep breathing for a minute...meditation has never worked well for me but this would.
My intentions for this coming year are: * continue tracking food intake and exercise on ITB and on paper & that will get me to goal weight * Record alcohol intake in my journal as AF (alcohol free), AIM (alcohol in moderation) or AIE(alcohol in excess) That may go on the chart at the front of the book where I record my weight...fun to look back over at the end of the year...I hope. * Write down an affirmation and something I am grateful for * Revisit fun activities I haven't done for awhile: art, movies, needlework, etc * Limit the reading/reviewing * Write more snail mail or emails to Hazel & Jade and perhaps other family
There may be more in the future BUT I have them written in the front of the journal and will revisit them often.
Thank you for stepping in ~ Hope that Pam is okay!

Happy New Year one & all!
In the new year, I want to figure out how to be more at peace, with myself & my surroundings. As the old prayer says, just to accept the things that I can't change & to change the things that I can.
I envy all you ladies that are winning the battle of the bulge! I have a drs appt on Tues & I fully intend to face the scale & go from there. I have been doing pretty well for the last few days. I will also ask him if I can take the new vaccine, if he says it is ok, I will take it at the very first opportunity. I think one of the local drug stores is getting in small supplies. I am 75, so I qualify as one of the "older" people. I want to start the year off by taking control of the things that I can.
Pam, where are you?

I am within 3.4 pounds of my goal weight Way to go, Jan!
I've been taking stock (not because it's the first of the year, but because of something completely unrelated). And as a result of having taken stock, I've decided to go out for a walk in the middle of the day (the weather reports for my area indicate that the warmest part of the day pretty much every day is around 1 and/or 2:00). My calendar permits something every day in the general timeframe of after 12 noon and earlier than 3:00. I'm set. I mentioned to DH a little while ago that I'm going to go out for a walk after a little while and he's coming with me! Added bonus! We rarely see each other much during the day, so this is a real plus.
