We stayed up late to welcome the new year and toasted it in. I had plans for lunch today but as we don't have the fennel picked and cleaned may make it for dinner instead. I usually let my husband collect from the garden. He went out to get the fennel but came in with...flowers instead. Ah well...the flowers are pretty!
CHERRY: I have seen the book you are reading but have not read it. I am glad you are enjoying it.
BEVERLY: I can sort of see having the banking set up like that in case one account is emptied by someone unscrupulous...identity theft sort of thing.
LYNN: My sister said that her son in Seattle was trying to have food delivered and it wasn't possible. They had hit their max and were turning orders away! I hope you did get something hot and tasty to eat!
Good morning. I did see the New Year in but mostly because I was finishing watching a movie. My daughter texted me at midnight and when I answered the text she called me. We talked a few minutes then I went to bed but I didn't get to sleep for over an hour.
I weighed in this morning and last week I had gained two pounds. This morning I had lost a quarter of a pound. Next Friday I'm hoping it will be more. I am NOT going to let the weight creep back on.
It is a little foggy this morning. I couldn't see the lights across the lake and now that it is getting lighter, I can't see the tree on this side of the lake either, which is about a quarter of a mile away. It is supposed to get partly sunny this afternoon and get into the mid to high 30s. Nothing special on my schedule today, not even anything fancy for dinner tonight.
Now it is time for coffee and I have a fresh pot waiting. Have a good day, beaches, and a Happy New Year.

Rain seems to be on the order for today. Not raining right now, but they are saying 100% chance this afternoon. That doesn't leave much chance that it won't rain!
I have to run to the drug store later to pick up a prescription. The southern tradition is to eat black-eyed peas on New Year's Day, for good luck. I think that I have some in the freezer, otherwise, I have to cook them from dried. I want to be sure & eat them today, hopefully, it will be a better year than 2020. Thank God, we didn't lose anyone in our family this year. That is about the only good thing that I can say about it.
My sweet neighbor is still in ICU, I got an update from her DD last night & she says that she has double pneumonia, which I think is pretty common among COVID patients. She says the dr says they have to get the pneumonia cleared before they can do anything else for her. She has been through a lot, maybe she can make it through this, but it doesn't look good.
Cathy, i had a filet mignon dinner and DH had a ribeye steak diner. It was very good. We ordered from a restaurant we have been going to for years, but not since last March...We wanted to give them the business. We don't usually eat beef much, so it was a treat.
It is a really lazy day today for us. DH is reading his books, mostly history and watching old movies. I am getting everything ready to get serious about getting on track again. I ordered a new scale that gives you a lot of information on your phone about body fat and a bunch of other stuff, so I will use it as a guide. I am going to start virtual ww meetings again next week. I follow a good guide on Instagram, so I will try her meeting next week. She has many, so it will be easy to do.
Tonight we are having leftovers from last night's dinner. Too much food was delivered, so it will be easy peasy. I only got through 1/3 of my steak. I made waffles for breakfast. I haven't made them in eons, and I froze some that were leftover.
Have a great day and a wonderful and healthy beginning of the New Year.
Bev, I hope your neighbor recovers...It is so sad what is happening. Cherry, You are so good about keeping your weight under control. Pam, waving hi....
