Hi All,
The semester is speeding by and I feel like I’m in some kind of weird dystopian reality. While COVID is surging, everyone around here is trying to make things as normal as possible. The scary part is that all of the hospitals in the area are full with COVID patients, so there’s no where to go if you have another medical issue.
Sue, it depends. I plan to stay at least 5 years to build equity. Eventually I would like a house with a larger kitchen. Right now, my kitchen feels crowded even with just two people cooking or helping. Otherwise, the house is just what I need at this point.
Normally I would be surprised at a couple doing that in plain view, but I’m beyond surprised at what humans are caught doing at this point, haha.
Joan, yum, you make me miss NYC. I am trying to wait out the pandemic restrictions before traveling again. Who knows how long that will be.

DH and I are about 40 miles east of Memphis—on our way back with his new baby—a Rookwood Geo Pro—G19FD-=-look it up on YouTube—there are several good videos that show the features of it—it’s really cute and very comfy for 2–DH picked me up in Memphis after driving four days and we picked it up north of Atlanta—Buford—I could almost feel Holly’s heartbeat from there!! Had we not had to drive 5-6 days back, we would have come to see you, Holly!!
Last night we stayed at Lanier Islands Margarittaville resort in the RV park portion-=-wow, what a place—no time to enjoy or explore as we got there late afternoon and it took about 2 1/2 hrs to get set up and moved into our tiny house on wheels—but we were able to order dinner delivered and had everything organized so could just enjoy it. It poured rain so hard it was crazy! But the shower in the trailer is great—the little thing feel spacious with two—DH needs me to help tho—getting this whole week to practice set up and tear down will allow him to get to the point where he can do it seamlessly. I talked to him about how this simply has to motivate him to start working on regaining flexibility cause you have to be able to get on your knees and hook up some things or put them away and you have to have stamina to do it all efficiently and safely. It’s funny, he is healthier than me, but I can move in circles around him when it requires your body to move and bend and cavort—I cavort well! LOL
He drives so well tho—has super excellent driving skills and loves to drive! He knew everything about this trailer—more than the guy doing the after sale orientation! We talked with the manager of the place about that because the guy doing it was really the only sarcastic jerk who wasn’t knowledgeable as well in the entire business. Tonight we stay at an RV place on the Mississippi and tomorrow we are at a family owned one by a lake. We have to get groceries this afternoon when we get there about 4:15–had hoped for 3 but it took us so long to get breakfast and find a place on the west side of Atlanta—very slow service—and we had been up since 4:30 am and it was 8:45–we’d had no coffee or breakfast!

Holly, the absolute worst part of this trip is being in red states that don’t believe this is real—literally almost no masks—this morning two waitresses had masks on—first ones we’d seen on employees—rest of employees no—and almost every guest, no. We literally got angry stares at a gas station, convenience store stop yesterday—like how dare we. I thought this lady was going to smack me she was glaring so hard—about 60 years old! Feel comfortable in NYC—everyone is masked—most even on the street. All of us in the park—vaccines required to eat in or drink in—it was the best—I carried hand sanitizer in my purse pouch thing and washed hands till my watch told me I was done everywhere—but so was everyone else.
Today we stoped at a Rolling T and got gas—in the restroom a woman washed her hands as long as I did and I told her she was the first person I’d seen do that in two days—she said, well, yes—because I am a nurse and I know! We are just literally shocked at the nonchalance coming from Vegas!
I am going to do virtual book club with face time tonight—read the best book—The Exiles by Kristina baker Cline who wrote the Orphan Train—wow, it’s excellent . The RV place has free WiFi and our trailer has a booster to make the signal stronger.
Sue, I thought your mom’s sister was moving there also?? Am confused—must have misunderstood. Hope you can find a solution—wow, would be terrible to lose a down payment—can’t you resell and recoup your money?
I saw JoAnne came back to FB—maybe we will hear from her. Hope she’s been all right.
Our bed in the RV is so comfy—it’s a really great firm foam—slept super well—but not super long! Hopefully can do that tonight as tomorrow’s mileage is a bit less and no Atlanta rush hour or even any big city to manage. Took us almost two hours to get through Atlanta—at one point 10 lanes of traffic going in—wow—I’d love to go visit Atlanta some day just for fun!
The cruise sounds super—a floating bubble—we all need it!

Hi All,
I am home with a sinus infection. I usually get one around this time of year.
The BF and I are going to see Wicked next Friday. I’m still reading the book to get some backstory.
Joan, that’s about 3 1/2 hours south of me. If you take any more road trips this way, I’ll give you a tour of Western NC. I live within an hour of Charlotte and Asheville, but there are quite a few quaint little mountain towns with good food nearby as well.
Yes, I really don’t understand the animosity towards masks. It makes me sad that we have reached that level of political divisiveness.
Sue, I hope you got the house stuff worked out.

Hi! Quick post, so busy with packing and now with the realtor showing our house we have to clean more often as well. Still trying to get out of the contract for my mom's house, the sellers are being assholes, so there is a lot of back and forth between lawyers and lots of calls and emails between my sister, our realtor and lawyer and me. Go Eagles!

Hi Sue, Holly , Joan and anyone else who has joined! Got back from California about 2 and 1/2 weeks ago and my DDIL is already wanting me to come back to help with DGD . DDIL has taken a new job and no longer has the college student that she had before helping take DGD to school and pick her up and take her to swimming every day. ( She is on a swim team now and swims every day). DDIL’s niece is going to come for the first 3 weeks of October and I will go for 2 weeks after. DS has two weeks of vacation he can take and then it will be Thanksgiving. We will be back out 2 weeks at Christmas. She is trying to put off hiring anyone until she knows how her day and schedule will work out - she hopes to be able to hold off until the new year. Crazy!!
I went back and read a lot of the post but seemed to have missed some things. Sue- are you moving? When and where?? Holly is someone living with you?? Joan - you are really covering some territory traveling!! I had no idea you were traveling so much.
My sister and her husband are on the road in their RV now on their way home from a road trip out west. Visited Yellowstone in the snow!
I am considering giving some of my yard work up to a landscape company . Not ready to give it all up though. Will call someone tomorrow about an estimate. The leaves are the big thing starting now- I can really use some help there- and with some of the trimming.
The contractor who is to help me with my ceilings says he is overwhelmed right now with work and doesn’t know when we can do it. He was to build me some rails for the side walk steps too.
I am loving using essential oils with Young Living. They have really helped me with all of my GI issues. I finally just stopped going to the GI MD as she didn’ t seem to help me at all. I went back to the surgeon who did my stomach surgery ( the fundoplication) to make sure all of that was still in place and not the cause. He did a CT scan and said everything looked good..
Having the DGKs this weekend while DS and DDIL go hiking and camping.
My HS class was having a reunion this. Fall. It originally was our 55th in 2020 but has now been put off 3 times.
Today was got gorgeous outside here. It seems like it rained the whole time I was in California and most of the time since I have been back. Was so nice being able to get outside some(and rake leaves). Took a walk too! Will try to be better about posting!

Hi All,
The BF and I went to see Wicked last Friday. It was really good. I also just finished the book and thought it was good.
Has anyone seen LuLaRich? I have some of the LulaRoe leggings and dresses, but usually got them on eBay, so never paid full price. People are crazy.
I am really trying to cut down on added sugars, which seem to be the main culprit for my stomach issues. I haven’t had a soft drink in over a week. Haven’t really craved one either. When I started drinking coffee, always black, it really cut down on my soft drink cravings. Trying to walk or do hand weights about every other day.
Good to hear from you Jo Anne. It’s been nice here too, but has been hot the last couple of days. My sister is living with me while finishing her BSN. She is supposed to graduate in May.
Joan, you must be really enjoying making pottery. I’m enjoying the pictures!
Sue, when do you move? End of this year?

Hi! Quick post... Still so busy. Movers are coming tomorrow to pick up about almost 400 boxes, mostly books and paintings and art supplies. Out of those I have 9 boxes, haha - 2 boxes of photos, mementos, 3 boxes of kitchen stuff, 1 wardrobe box, 2 boxes of shoes, 1 box of handbags. Can you believe all the stuff SO has?!!!
Between going through a ton of things, purging and packing, and dealing with mom getting out of the house deal, some medical appointments, a weeklong visit from ex-colleague (I got together with her and others 3x during that week), keeping the house clean for showing to prospective buyers...it's been non stop.
Great to see you on here Jojo!
Things should lighten up after the first round of move tomorrow. They will store our stuff somewhere and come back for the final move. Right now it looks like closing date might be delayed by a month, early Jan.

It’s early morning here and DH is making our pour over coffee—I’m lounging in bed with iPad for a few—we are parked at DD’s house in the driveway—we just fit—and will be leaving for Vegas tomorrow morning. We will divide the trip up in two days—spending a night in Hawthorne NV, a little town in NV below Reno about 3 hrs. That way we will get hom Tuesday early afternoon and DH won’t have had to drive for hours and hours.
I like our little trailer—am glad DH found this one == I don’t think we will get to do this for years and years but I could be wrong—DH may get to the point where it’s too much—however, he is one happy camper literally now so that’s worth it. And he loves that I am enjoying it as well. It has just the right level of convenience for me to enjoy it and not have to clean forever when we get back. And the bed is super comfy so that’s awesome. Staying here this way allows us more time together without having no private place to escape for a bit!
The new puppy—DD’s pup— is really cute but very energetic==they are starting dog training in a week—he’s nipping and trying to jump up on furniture and they have to get that in control—but he’s learned to walk on a leash and not bark at other dogs on walks—she has him sit down at every intersection before crossing the street and he is good about that as well.DD is moving so much more—in July she could not have done this so it’s having the right effect for her. I am doing well here—sleeping well—not lying awake worrying—counseling has really helped me!
I am down to the weight I’d like to stay now. I weighed 126 last week—down from 154–now learning to stop dieting forever—that’s almost harder than losing but I’m getting less obsessive and learning a lot. Do not want to lose more.

Wow, I have to say that I have had some very off notions about weight and health and weight loss over the years—this book the dietician suggested I read really shatters the lifestyle we’ve all been doing to ourselves—the book is Health at Every Size—it’s really excellent—by Bacon (ironically!). I’m learning so much my head is spinning! I now see why my dietician is concerned that I not continue weight loss or deprivation but adopt a healthy life style which does not include tracking food and worrying about a few pounds here and there. It’s really a life changing book I wish I’d read years ago.

Hi! Well, the movers came and numbered our boxes, we had 490 boxes and they were only able to take 300 because of weight limit of 11,000 lbs on the truck. Books are really, really heavy. They will get the rest of the boxes, plus probably another at least 100 boxes and our furniture the next time. Then drive everything to AZ.
Jojo, I'm glad to hear that you are finally doing well healthwise. I still can't believe all that you went through after getting attacked by the dog. Yes, SO and I went to Tucson last April and bought a house! It is under construction right now and though we are supposed to settle in first week of December, we think they are behind schedule by at least a month. I am glad the essential oils are working for you and giving you some relief!
Joan, like I said before I think majority of people especially women have issues with weight. I know I've had problems since I was 14 yrs old, when the school nurse told me I was a little overweight...by about 5-10 lbs! I think all these years of yo-yo dieting has taken a toll. Plus, the high protein diets although effective, always ends up with gaining weight back at some point. How about the study of how social media - instagram, FB, etc - is affecting an entire generation of young females with unrealistic, often times unnattainable weight goals? Really sad. I'm glad you like the RV and are comfortable in it so that you're not miserable traveling in it with your DH. It sounds like he's getting a great deal of enjoyment from it so it is worth it!
Holly, glad you enjoyed Wicked. I had heard about the LulaRue documentary on Netflix. Will probably watch it some day. I remember you bringing it up on this thread and I went onto their website and checked it out. I just binged watched Squid Game with my sister last night.
We are in the process of getting rid of our realtor for our condo. They are useless and not very organized. We had a realtor's open house (1 realtor showed), a regular open house (nobody showed, they decided 2 days before on a Monday, to have the open house on Wed who knows how they got the word out), and a few showings. So that has been a pain to deal with.
My mom is still trying to get her downpayment back. The sellers have put the house back on the market, but so far have not been responding to our lawyer to negotiate a sum.
Yesterday, my mom, sister and I drove up to Syracuse, NY to visit my oldest nephew. It may be the last time I see him since he is in his first year of residency and is crazy busy. We got to see him for 3 hours yesterday before he had to leave for his overnight shift. Saw him this morning at 7 when he came home and we left shortly after so he could go to sleep. He's not coming back for Thankgsgiving, I hope I get to see him one more time before moving...
The ex-colleague visit was so much fun. She just turned 40, I hired her right out of college and mentored her in the early years. Got together with a couple of other people too while she was here.
Last week, my mom, sister and I went to see my eldest aunt in NJ. She is the one that just moved to the area where my mom almost bought the house to be close to her. She just found out she has breast cancer. Went through surgery and will go on to chemo in a couple of weeks. We're hoping and praying. Her daughter just gave birth to a baby girl and we got to visit with them on our last trip. Baby is so cute!
A few more social things coming up. The days are flying by. I'm getting my booster on Wed, I'll also get the flu shot at the same time. SO has to wait because he had the Moderna vaccine.

oh, SO and I settled on the property next to the one our new house is on. We bought it to prevent anyone from building on it. Ugh more documents/papers, etc. Now we have to buy 2 shares of the sports/resort package of this development and pay monthly fees for both properties. The 2 fees though is still far less than our current monthly condo fees.

Also, we spent the night at my nephews apt...you can imagine first year, poor resident type apt. Better than most but not the most spacious or luxurious. My mom and sister slept on his queen size bed and I slept on his living room couch. LOL, I don't think I have slept on a couch in about 30 years. We did bring a blow up bed but were too lazy to use it.

Only have a minute before my meet up on line with the new dietician. Weight is holding steady—with no tracking and no micromanaging—am working toward true intuitive eating, Holly—remember you mentioned it ever so long ago—it’s amazing—I weigh only weekly and my weight is not wavering—hovers 2 pounds up and down from 127–lowest I’v e been since high school.
Yes, Sue, the perception of others and then ourselves that we are “fat” or overweight starts a vicious dangerous cycle—think of how many years we have been in that cycle! The book I’m reading is so revealing—the body has mechanisms for managing our weight but we screw it up by micromanaging and yo-yo deprivation diets—yuk! I am actually feeling hunger and full signals now—shocks me! Gotta’ go—finish up later

I went back to the gym for pilates—first time since mid to late June==wow, it felt so good—because I continued every evening at home doing the pilates leg exercises on my foam roller, I was not feeling out of shape—but going back was reminded of so many things I forgot about doing. It’s easy to not socialize any more—a little scary as I can easily see how I could turn hermit like—it takes time and effort to meet up with others and actually do things on a schedule you did not control. So am working on this as well.
I am making crispy quinoa—have any of you had it? Mendocino Farms is a restaurant that we love in CA—order at the counter, seat yourself, super healthful dinners and lunches. They have a Caesar salad I love that has a mix of kale and romaine and has crispy quinoa on it—makes for this crunchy Caesar salad with chicken—total change but oh, so tasty and satisfying—so my dietician and I researched it and I just crisped up a whole cooked batch—am making that salad for dinner—cooked my chicken and it is cooling in the fridge—can’t wait!
My assignment in the next three weeks is to make three foods that I have always or lately perceived to be on the “naughty” list of eating—and to eat them. So I am to have oatmeal for breakfast again one of these mornings—the “oh my God, the carbs” reaction missing. I am going to have DH make his stew one night and I am going to make a batch of my soft triple ginger cookies. The test is to see if using intuitive eating principles I can do this without guilt or remorse and without going into a binge—this past week I made birthday dinner for Jordan who turned 21 and I made my berry almost torte which I’ve not tasted in a couple years—I had a little piece every day for three days and I did not gain any weight—and I did not “pick” at it or feel the need to have more—and I had a normal size piece rather than my usual sliver—it made me feel very satisfied because I didn’t treat myself differently than DH. Was amazing!
so that’s the skill set I am working on.
I am amazed that you are getting packed up and moving, Sue—Oh my gosh—I cannot wait to come to Tucson and visit—we plan to drive our little trailer down there and see you and SO and our former neighbors who moved back there as well—and look at any art galleries there! I’ve never been! Hope that is okay with you!
we are firing a load of pottery tomorrow and I have a couple things that I’m very anxious to see—just hope my glaze choices did not ruin the effect as the work building had gone very well. I’ve been drawing a lot and painting on newsprint to transfer to pottery—am trying some new ideas out and am so excited about them.
Stay well, everyone! So good to read the posts this morning!
