linda72, Jimmy cracked me up! I'm kind of looking forward to the spin-off about the 4 sixes ranch with Jimmy and that crew. Seems like they're setting it up now with the scenes on that ranch.

the spin-off about the 4 sixes ranch I didn't realize they were doing a spin-off. Could be interesting.

Watched the first 2 episodes (free) of Yellowstone 1883. Enjoyable so far. Casting seems good. I'm not crazy about Faith Hills "personality" but it should improve. One thing in episode 2 I'll put in the spoiler below -that really, I felt, was poorly done. Ok the sister in law (Claire) was awful. They told us she lost her husband right at the start, but they didn't explain anything else about why she was just a terrible person.
It wasn't until she decided to kill herself that they told us she'd lost 8 children as well.
I feel like them not relating that sooner was a discredit to the character.
Yes, she was a 2 episode character, but it would have been nice to have felt a little compassion for her and some understanding about the way she treated everyone around her.

DotRen, I agree with your assessment of 1883. I felt the writing was uneven. I don't have Paramount + so I won't be seeing anymore episodes which is probably okay. I'm not sure I could put up with the eldest daughter, Elsa and her inability to realize the wild west had many dangers. When she plopped down in the river to float around, I got anxiety just thinking about the dangers (she was alone so no one could help her if she needed someone.) I kept expecting a big snake coming up to bite her, or Indians or other dangerous people attacking her. I'm not even sure she knows how to swim. Plus, she was supposed to watch her younger brother. She had already been attacked in her hotel room so I think she's just asking for more problems in this series. I also question the recent Yellowstone episode. It seems that Jimmy now has 2 women who want him which surprises me. I wonder if the supposed spin-off (Ranch 6666) will feature him in the lead? I'm not sure how that will work out.

linda72, I thought I read that Jimmy would be the lead, or at least a main character, in the new one - but it looks like he got sent back to Yellowstone, so who knows? And yes, his "appeal" is kind of funny, but like the new girl said, he's the only man under 35 in the area lol. He definitely comes across as a "fixer-upper" lol

lillyw, another Witcher fan here - so good! DotRen, linda72, Do we know what relationship Elsa is to John Dutton? Since she's doing the narrating, I figure she's central to that connection but, Pat says she's a Dutton already, she can't pass the name on after marriage but, her brother would be key. Anyway, I agree with your observations. After the last episode of Yellowstone, I think things are going to get really ugly.

lillyw, I was glad that Geralt had more than "hmm" as a line this time haha. And I love how "we broke up and I hate/love you" Jaskier is

I found this about Elsa Dutton on 1883.
Elsa is the sister of John Dutton Senior, but her relationship with Costner's character is more complicated. As John Dutton Junior came into the mix, Elsa is Costner's character's great aunt.
Didn't we see her die from an arrow in the opening of 1883? Or, am I imagining that?

I remember seeing her running from the Indians, getting a horse and taking off? But it looked like the rest of the group she was with were slaughtered, so she must have split off from the rest of the Duttons at some point, maybe with Enis(?)the cowboy that said she was too pretty for him (I loved that exchange between them lol)
