I have had the television on since the today show was in irrupt it by a special bulletin and it went to the electoral vote proceedings for president elect Biden. I listen to the speeches by Mike Pence, Mitch McConnell and a part of the one by Chuck Schumer because I had an errand before noon. When I returned and turn down the television or nations capital was in chaos.I feel like Iโm living in Venezuela or a similar country and pray for peace to return.

So sad watching whatโs going on in Washington. We are a country so divided, I fear it will never come even close to being together again.
Prayers for our country.

healthyjoy We have to have faith and remember it eventually got better after the Civil War. Yet there are those who still believe in the Lost Cause and still fly the Confederate flag.

Prayers for our country. Other than that I have no words to describe how I feel except saddened and sick.

Trying to keep in mind this is just a really small number of people that don't represent us as a whole

Trying to keep in mind this is just a really small number of people that don't represent us as a whole Yes, and it is sad there was not enough law enforcement people there at the start to take away their power as soon as the violence began.

It's odd they were ready for BLM protests but they couldn't be prepared for today when they knew there would be a rally before the confirming of the election. Someone definitely dropped the ball.

Someone definitely dropped the ball. Or maybe didn't... Racism is ingrained in many people. It's ugly; at the same time, it's real... I'm not saying the police deliberately waited until it was too late to contain the violence; I'm just saying there was at least one report I saw that DC police were taking selfies with the insurgents. I won't call them protesters; I reserve that word for people who understand and practice non-violent protest. The people from yesterday didn't give a you-know-what about respect for democracy, for people with opinions different from their own, or for property (you must have heard by now about the threats left in Pelosi's office). I truly believe those people were egged on and encouraged by an egocentric selfish individual who knows how to turn one entity (whether a person or a corporation) against another. I call him a traitor for inciting sedition.

I thank you for your prayers, those who pray. We need action and accountablility in addition to thoughts and prayers. I wondered if this thread was going to get moved.

I wondered if this thread was going to get moved. I laughed when I discovered it had been moved. Trying to keep in mind this is just a really small number of people that don't represent us as a whole But they have been front and center for over four years. Also I think Trump had over 70 million votes in the election. That is almost half of all votes. Someone might say every one that voted for Trump isn't responsible for yesterday and I say they are. They supported Trump and it was clear he was going to try and overturn our democracy. There were Republicans in the House and Senate who still tried to overthrow a legal fair election even after the mob took over the Capitol.

I really hope that at least some of the 70 or 74 million (whatever) who voted for Trump may be having second thoughts after yesterday.
I saw some vid of Ted Cruz riling up a crowd comparing the current situation to the Revolutionary War. Not yesterday, but earlier. Rudy called for "trial by combat" or some such at Trump's rally.
