I'm going over to dd's house tomorrow to pick up something she picked up for us so I had to get busy and get the visor made and sewn on the amoung us crewmate. The last one just didn't look good. Now I just have to sew the pockets on one of the pocket shawls but it's all pinned in place and ready to be sewn so it won't take long. And the yarn and stitch I used is dense enough that if I don't do a super job sewing them on, it's not going to show.I just need to keep them in place because sometimes the pins don't do a great job and I want them to be on straight.

CJ- I really really like that stepping stones quilt in the blue fabrics that you have (how did you ever amass the collection of quilting fabrics that you have!!!). Its just so neat how different patterned fabrics can create such a lovely effect. Did you get much crocheting done last night??
Ruth, Jane made potholders as gifts a year or two ago- using the quilt as you go method. Its very easy and I am sure you could do that- a nice diversion from crocheting and lovely items to share with others.
Only got a little bit of clipping done on the quilt last night, but it will not need much more. Think I will check it today in day light...wrap it and pack it up to send to my niece.
Phyl- miss hearing from you and hope you are doing ok.
Sue- still keeping your DGD in my prayers...hope you are well

Ruth, hope its a pleasant trip and visit with Dd today. Yes, some yarns are very forgiving at hiding stitches....good to hear that the yarn you used for the among us is that way. I am sure you are too hard on yourself anyway and that it looks great.

Busy day cooking this afternoon- with Dd and DSIL coming over for dinner. Looks like maybe Ds got stuck for some overtime...oh well, made a nice dinner which he will have to reheat if that is the case.
Right now I am working on getting a few more rows of the falling charms quilt attached. Simple quilt and simple concept- its very colorful but I like it. Hope I can stop in later on to say hi- see who stops in Ginny

We woke today finding snow on the ground but not much so it was fine. Wind has died down a little. We did go over to dd's house and saw two of the grandaughters and one of the great grandaughters. I don't know where the other one was but probably out on the couch asleep. I think visiting was a good change for dh even though he was a basket case getting ready to go. Sil came in while we were there and pretty much admitted he doesn't take many precautions against the virus at all even though he was actually exposed that time. I guess he feels like he didn't actually develop the virus then so he never will. To me that's not a very good attitude to have.My grandaughter, who is my oldest dgd ,loved the pink among us I made her
Tomorrow will be pick up curbside groceries day. This evening will be crocheting. I'm getting pretty lazy so that when I do one thing in a day like our visit earlier today, I don't do anything else. Food is ready for heating so no cooking is needed although dh wanted me to make him scrambled eggs but the eggs are all crackedand have leaked out of the shell. They must have frozen in the fridge so I don't think he should take a chance eating them when they've been contaminated with sitting in the shell and carton while raw.
Ginny, have a good time with your family at dinner. I'd bet that when your son gets home he will be happy to warm and eat some of your great food. I did get the recipe you sent. We never have instant rice so I'm thinking that I can make the rice separately with the curry powder in the cooking water then after rice is almost done, mix it with th4e rest of the ingredients. I could also use some of the Thai green curry paste that I have. I think my curry powder is pretty old but I'll have to check. Did you say that tonight is when you find out if a new grandson or grandaughter is on the way? Your dd and sil maybe have a little bit of a preference butI know they will be ecstatic about whichever it is.
CJ and PHyl, I hope you both are doing something enjoyable today. CJ, I'm glad the trees were taken care of and you're happy with the job.

Hey Phyl, good to see you here...kind of surprising that HL did not have any valentine fabric- do you think they were sold out, or just never got it in?
Ruth- hope the visit went well enough with you at DD’s. Agree a change of scenery is nice..I agree, its a bad attitude not to take this virus seriously - gotta hope he does not get it and bring it home to others. Hope that the curbside pickup tomorrow goes well. My friend does that from Walmart and is very happy with their service. Its a lot of work bringing in groceries, especially in winter. And I would have thrown those eggs out....
Nice dinner with Dd and DSIL. We find out Monday the baby’s gender. Got a few more rows of the quilt attached. Oh, for the rice, I used all the curry in with the flour on the chicken and made regular rice (actually had some leftover). I put the rice in the skillet once the chicken was done. It was a really nice meal.....some might find it too bland, but I enjoyed it. Not a big fan of spicy food.

How odd! I wrote a fairly long message this afternoon, and it's not here.
We're okay. No vaccine for us yet, but we're in the next group which is very large and will take a while.
My daughter is taking DGD to Iowa next week for an appointment with a team of doctors who specialize in her particular type of tumor. I would have thought the area in which they live might have been better, but it's not.
I'll let you know when I have news about anything.
I did buy a snow sweeper, but we havent had much snow! Sure hope we do for the sake of the forests.

Sue it's so good to see you here. Well I, too, would have thought that their area would have been the best location for treatment. I don't think I've ever heard of the one in Iowa. I am keeping your grandaughter in prayer also. We haven't had much snow either and I'm happy about that but also concerned about th4e lack of snow pack and how that will contribute to forest and wildland fires.
GinnyYes the way you made that dish sounds much like how I'll do it but I never thought of putting the curry powder into the flour. I don't know how I didn't think of it because that's how I do my chicken tenders is put seasonings on the chicken itself then also in the flour
Yes, CJ does have a good eye for choosing colors and placements of them. Next time it's calm enough to make a fire in teh woodstove which will make the upstairs warm enough to work in, I'm going to dig out some of my fabric.
Oh and Ginny, thank you for the organizing suggestions. I have a lot of bins but none that you can see through. I'd also need a LOT of bins to hold all the yarn i have.

Good morning! Sue, good to see you stop in...and we do miss you. Hoping and praying that this location in Iowa provides the perfect care for DGD. Like Ruth said, I would have figured that the coasts would have the best care, but its good to hear that other locations are able to provide excellent treatment options. So much can be done medically....will continue to keep them in my prayers. Like you, I have gotten no vaccine yet, and it looks like it will be a long time before I can be vaccinated. My governor is sending most of the vaccine to the city and ignoring the rest of the state. Hope that you get a chance to use the snow sweeper!! Snow is pretty...but also an essential element of our ecosystems, as you said. Are you able to get any crocheting in?? Not expecting a response, just hoping for your sake that you are getting some crafting/relaxing time in.
Ruth, pretty sure the recipe calls for all the curry to be in with the flour.... it makes a lovely lightly seasoned (but somewhat runny) gravy- to which you would add the precooked rice. (Make the rice anyway you like). For such a simple recipe, I was really really happy with how nicely it turned out. Lowes seems to have a good price on clear bins- the best price I have seen so far. Even if there is no lowes near you, they will deliver. Not sure what their minimum order for free shipping is. When I went to clean out my mom’s house, I saw that she had done just that- gotten clear plastic bins (sort of the size of double sized shoe boxes) and had most of her yarns organized by color. She did most of her crocheting with supersaver, so no need to distinguish between yarn types. Anyway it worked, and what I am planning on doing is getting my fabrics in clear bins, organized by color.
Hi CJ and Phyl......
Hope we can all get some crafting in today G

Sounds like Dd and the little ones will be here for a bit. DGD#1 needs to see the pediatrician - she did something to her toe and its infected. Pediatrician is a short distance from me.... G

Hello Sue - It's good to hear from you and I'm glad you are doing well. I hope the specialists can help your DGD. Ginny - I hope your DGD's toe will be alright. Most of the pre-cut fabrics I have came from buying them at quilt shows. Ruth - I'm glad you were able to visit with family. Hopefully you SIL won't make anyone sick. Phyl - Hope you enjoy the decorating. It was a nice sunny day yesterday, but it's cloudy today and we're supposed to get some rain later. The weather has been really nice for January so far, so I can't complain. I made a few quilt blocks this morning. The first one is called a Ribbon block: www.generations-quilt-patterns.com/ribbon-star-quilt-block.htmlI'm going to make one of these for each of colors for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge this year. The second one is from the Sewcialites quilt along: blog.fatquartershop.com/sewcialites-block-14-by-chelsi-stratton/ I liked this block and wanted to try it out. It's quick to make and I think I'll make one of these each month with floral fabric in the color for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge. I think this would also be a pretty block to make a quilt if you used 2 different dark fabrics and the same light fabric. The final block I tried was the Delectable Mountains block. That one is quick to make to. I'm posting two pictures -one with the pieces side by side and one with them together making a large block. I will definitely make some of these blocks maybe to put as a border around a panel. The green fabric must have come from a quilt show where I picked it up at a guild table because it has a perfume scent to it that is bothering me. I have my two blocks soaking in water and I'm soaking the rest of the fabric in water too. It's a pretty fabric but if I can't get the smell out I'll have to throw it out. I'll post the pictures in the next post so this one isn't so long. Hope you all have a good weekend
