I've been cooking and visiting with dh. He made a fire in the woodstove for me.
It is nice that my dh is intersested in my crocheting but now he's mentioned that he thinks I should make a pocket shawl for my dgd that lives in Montana. That means I'll have to make one for my dgs' "sweetie" too. They've been together for over 5 years now so she's a family member too. Now this morning he was chatting with dd in pm;s and the subject of baby yoda came up then the comic strip with aliens which I've never heard of and dd asked dh if I could maybe make her one so three more things added to my list. I started a baby blanket for my dgd's baby that's expected to make his way into the world in may. I just was tired of working on the pocket shawl but I'll get back to it later today. I don't think I have enough of that yarn so I ordered one that I think will work just for the pockets and edging. I have enough for the last two rows of the shawl itself.

HI, I called TARGET CVS AND MY STRIPS ARE READY.sure don't know what all that hull-a- bull -lou was about yesterday. will pick them up tomorrow.
some how my call must have went to some place different. never had that kind of message before.
so far I have not made it to the playpen today.might tomorrow before or after my endocrinologist appointment, just a check up for the thyroid issues I had last year.
THIS is the year I hope to work on the unfinished quilt projects I have started and get them out of here. some are for people, some are for charity, some are what ever. we got about 3 inches of snow Saturday night, nothing yesterday or today. not sure if we are in or just on the edge of that storm from Nebraska to Michigan.PHYL

Good afternoon- actually its good evening now.
Ruth- hope that the yarn you ordered works out well to make the pockets and border for the pocket shawl.Bet if there is a discernible difference between the two yarns the slight variation will look nice as an intentional accent. What pattern and color did you decide upon for your DGGS to be born this spring? How is DGD feeling through this pregnancy? I have always appreciated that your DH has a respect and appreciation for your talents with a crochet hook. Not so sure you were looking for 2or 3 additional projects.... Pocket shawls are pretty- but adult sized ones are a lot of work. Well Dh was a sweetie and made you a fire today.- which I bet felt nice anc cozy. Dd started a fire today after she got home from work. So very nice indeed.
Phyl- really happy to hear that your test strip dilemma got straightened out. Good that you can pick them up tomorrow, when I hope you can combine that errand with the trip to the endocrinologist. Think getting your UFO’s completed is a good thing and it frees up your time and work space for new projects. Think we all have those “whatever” projects- nondescript projects that we just wanted to do without any specific idea who or what they were for. 3 inches of snow is not too bad...blows or melts away usually quickly enough
Tired after a day of babysitting...Kids were pretty good. My second day of babysitting is tomorrow and then I am done with that for the week. We are supposed to get a small amount of snow tomorrow-only 2 or 3 inches throughout the day. Just enough to be a nuisance - hope my kids and I get back and forth to where we have to be tomorrow without problems. Got bible study (thankfully its zoom meeting- so I can stay home in this cold weather). Really I am looking forward to a nice cup of tea and bed- but will have to wait awhile for that.
Have a good night all G

Phyl, I'm glad to hear that you found that your blood glucose monitor strip situation has been straightened out. That same situation has happened with my dh's medication but it was when the pharmacy was changing their computer program. What a mess that was. All the rest of his meds, which were all due to be renewed on the same day, were there but one was missing. I had waited in line for about an hour and was told I had to come back in a couple days for that one.I was NOT happy.
Ginny, i bet you are tired after a day of babysitting. Small children are fun but tiring. I didn't even know that HOmespun came in skeins of a solid color but found some that did that will work. I hope anyway. Guess we'll see when they get here. I was going to get white...it's called Hepplewhite, but it was not in stock.I would have loved to find a dark gray because the gemstone colorway has a lot of that in it.
CJ. I hope you had a good day and found something fun to work on.
Today I did get the water bottle carrier that's for Indy dgd #4 done and am working on the pockets for the pocket shawl with the remaining gemstone color. . I don't think I have enough to make another pocket but I am almost done with the first one and have a plan to improvide using the new color if there isn't enough. I'll just rip out the first pocket to the size I'm able to get the second one to and then finish them both with some of the new yarn.

I found something is can do that is a little crafty! That’s not easy for me to do right now. I have a loom for making pot holders 10” size sitting on the counter in the kitchen. In between waiting and stirring while making dinner or fixing my breakfast, I can usually slip one or two weft pieces (Of socks tops) in. I’m busy with a lot of paperwork right now, mainly because I excel at procrastination. The dogs want to sit on my lap all the time so I have trouble doing anything at all! This morning I have four lapsitters. Outside the temperature is 7 degrees, so I’m glad they’re on my lap!
There is actually a program for potholder design! Most people probably never get past the two that the the kit will make. I’m planning to make a set that will go to with the kitchen in a number of different designs. I may keep making them for a while.
The doctors haven’t decided yet what they are recommending for my DGD. Review board meeting in about two weeks. It’s been a hurry up and wait situation. I hope they provided some counseling along with the testing and other scary info. Overall, my peeps were extremely impressed with the kindly professionalism, organization and thoughtfulness.
According to our county department of public health, they’re almost ready to start implementing the vaccine plan for the first part of group 1b which will include prisoners, Native Americans, people of color and those over 80. That actually makes sense for Montana. Thee are eight reservations in Montana, and the date rate of Native Americans is 11 times that Caucasians. I sent in the suggested forms for both of us, but there aren’t any appointments at all being made yet for this group. Definitely a lack of info right now v

Hello Sue, It's good to see you here. I'm sorry they haven't decided on a treatment protocol yet for you dgd but at least they're taking time to make sure it's the correct treatment. It has to be very hard on your dgd and her parents to have it take this long. Sounds like you're keeping busy with crafting potholders. They're a great thing to make because everyone needs plenty of them. Here they've already come to the stage where they are giving vaccine to anyone over 70.There are several places you can get them and all you have to do is call and make an appointment. That being said, I'm not sure I want to get one and haven't made an appointment. I'll just stay in my hermit mode.
Well I do think I' have enough yarn left to make a second pocket but since this is striping yarn there are sections of it that are a drasticllly different color combo and that's where I am now. If I made the second pocket with this it would look like I picked up a whole different colorway to make it out of so I'll just wait until tomorrow when my yarn is to be delivered and make both pockets with the solid color yarn. The shawl would not look good with being made completely with this section of the yarn. I guess today I'll start working on gifts for ddil.I think I know what I want to make but will have to decide on yarn and colors.Actually I really don't know what to make because I've made her all the things I can think of already.I do know I'll make her a button cowl which I have the pattern for but other than that, I have no clue. More kitchen things I guess.

Hello Everyone Phyl - I'm glad things got straightened out and you were able to pick up your strips. I wish you the best with working on your unfinished projects. I know how good it feels when I finish one of those. Ginny - Hope you've enjoyed the babysitting and I'm glad the rest of your week is free. Hope you don't get too much snow. Sue - It's great that you found a craft that you can do right now, hope you enjoy making the potholders. I hope the doctors will make good decisions for you DGD. Ruth - Hope you get your yarn so you can finish the pockets on the shawl. We had some sleet here last night, and it's cold and damp here today, but most of the sleet has melted. I haven't worked on any quilting the last few days. I spent some time today straightening out all the recent online accounts I've set up, so I could have all the information in one place. It's a bit draining for me dealing with all of it and makes me realize how dependent I'll be on the Internet. But there are so many problems with the mail right now that I need to be able to see my bills and pay them on time. I was listening to some music on YouTube today and over in the sidebar was a video of the music from the movie "Somewhere in Time", which I loved (movie and music). So I've been listening to that music this afternoon, which led me to check Wikipedia and read about the life of Christopher Reeve (who was in the movie). He led a a very interesting life and really helped contribute to a lot of charities. His accident and paralysis was very sad, but I admire how much he did with his life after that time, as well as his early achievements. I hope I can get back to working on my Norway quilt this week, since I'd like to get that top finished. Take care everyone

Ruth- yes that gemstone color yarn would be striking with a grey- but I am sure you will be able to work miracles with the yarn you ordered. Who did you order the yarn from?? Hand crocheted kitchen items are pretty easy to come by for ideas...and I am sure you will come up with a great gift idea for DDIL.
CJ- Somewhere in Time was a lovely movie- Dh and I used to enjoy watching it also. Jane Seymour was also in that movie. (Think that is why Dh liked it). Just a delightful well acted movie.. I know its a lot of work getting all the online accounts set up. I resisted setting my billing on line too- but for the same reason as you, ended up doing that, so that I was no longer dependent upon the mail. You can get back to quilting in a day or so....hopefully tomorrow.
Sue- while I am sure you would really rather see a treatment for DGD, it is good that they are being so thorough reviewing her case and evaluations a treatment.. Its good to hear that your family is impressed with how they are being treated and the overall professionalism. Potholders area a great project- simple, easy fo finish because they are not too big and can make a bib decorative color pop. Good to hear from you.....and I continue to keep your family and DGD in prayer.
Long day- but the little ones were very good today. Got a little bit of crocheting in this afternoon, and i made another mask, so I guess I got some crafting in
My covid shot was cancelled, due to lack of vaccine. I did just register in my county in a newly created web site to get the shot- but that does not assure me an immunization. We shall see if I end up being able to get a shot or not.
Have a good night all G

Our thread room is empty today so here I am to take up space. I got my yarn today and it will be great for the pocket shawl. Now I have to make the decision on whether or not to use the pockets I have already made or pockets with the new yarn. The ones that are already made are two different sections of the same striping yarn.
It's cold here today and the wind blasted all night. I think it's calming down now a little. We might be going out tomorrow so I hope it's not windy then. We have to do another grocery pickup because they didn't have eggs last week and most of the frozen eggs are gone.
I hope you are all having a good day.

Phyl- glad your visit with the endocrinologist went well. Always nice to hear good news from the doctor. Bet that star mug rug is adorable....and its nice to decorate for specific holidays. This is a tough time of year- sometimes the house feels empty taking down Christmas decorations....of course, most years, Easter decorations are going up but its already starting to look like spring. Valentines decor, in the dead of winter, is a a welcome change and pop of color. Best of luck with your vaccination tomorrow. Its pure torture getting one here in my state....
Ruth, I am thinking that you got your yarn from Lion brand? Sounds like it was an efficient shipment- a welcome thing indeed with all the difficulties that the post office and UPS have had. Which yarn do you think you will use for the pockets? good to hear that the wind died down, most of the time its extreme wind that makes cold weather so challenging. Hope that tomorrows food order goes flawlessly and that you get the eggs you want. I picked up eggs today myself...
Got up this am- and early on I cleared the snow (only a few inches) from the driveway and took the junker out for a ride. It had not been out for over a week. got to the store- that went well. Then got my hair done- again that went well. When I got home, I got a call (which never appeared on my phone but went straight to voicemail??) that the county had a vaccine for me and that they would call me back. I finally got through to them an hour later (called a whole bunch of numbers) and found that they had already filled that spot. Will drive to the county building tomorrow and hope that I can be wait listed and get in tomorrow. Also got an email from the school district that they are going to try go get a private health provider in to administer covid vaccine. So I signed up for a vaccine that way also, but again, no guarantees as my state has a strange method of allocating vaccine doses. I was supposed to get an immunization next Thursday, but that has been cancelled....lack of availability of a vaccine. Its a bit discouraging.
I did get to go into walmart and HL today.....got some plastic tubs for fabric storage (clear as I had wanted). So that might be my crafting today.
Tomorrow is another day full of promise...hoping for a good one. Ginny

Hello Ginny and Phyl. Phyl I hope all goes well in getting the vaccine and you have no side effects. Ginny, I hope you can get a time to receive the vaccine and it ends up that you can actually get one at one of the two places you mentioned. Sounds like you had a busy day today.
Well I didn't order the yarn from Lion directly. I, strangely, ordered it from fabric.com. I also ordered some yarn from a place called Pens N More.they had the best price and shipping of any of the places I looked.
Last evening I started on ddil's bday gifts. Make a hand sanitizer cozy that she can hang from a purse, belt, etc. Today am working on some washcloths that will go with a spa set I will make. Still haven't decided on which color pockets to make on dgd's pocket shawl so haven't worked on that yet today.
Phyl, it's nice that you decorate for all the holidays. I used to do it when the kids were young but have lost interest in doing that. I bet the decorations have made a nice new bright spot in your bathroom. I'm also happy to hear that all was well with your thyroid.

Gee never thought of ordering yarn from fabric.com. Will have to check that out- is it a good web site??? You come up with the coolest ideas for things to make- making a hand sanitizer cozy is a great idea.
Drove to the county center this am and am #2 on the waiting list for “extra” vaccines....so I think i stand a good chance of getting vaccinated. If not today, then some other time. Living with Ds and his possible exposure at work leaves me feeling unsure at times....which is why I think immunization is not a bad idea. If its meant to be, there will be an immunization there for me later on today.
Got some crocheting in this am... G
