Got to my WW virtual meeting this week, tracked, weighed and measured, had the right foods in the house, kept up with my support network, and didn't cave when I had afternoon episodes of just wanting to eat to be eating. Grateful that my husband and myself are still healthy.

How did you celebrate getting to goal? Do you still celebrate that you are at goal?

It's been 12 years since I made goal and I don't remember if I celebrated getting to goal. I expected to get to goal the big questions was if I was going to be able to maintain my weight this time. I do celebrate my goal anniversary each year, and celebrate me doing well on my bloodwork each year.

I’m away visiting family. No journaling my eating, no exercise. I’m taking credit for carefully monitoring hunger and satiation and eating accordingly. I’m glad that this family eats really healthfully. No treats and no sugary things in this household.
I don’t remember doing anything to celebrate getting to goal in 1990, in 1993 nor in 2001, the three previous times that I got to goal. This time when I got to goal in 2010, I celebrated by looking in the full length mirror a lot and enjoying the view, by noting the graph on my weight tracker and feeling pride from that, and by going through old clothes and putting away the too big ones for later donation.
I celebrate my goal anniversary every year by posting it here.

Wednesday, 01/03 What is your mindset on gaining weight now? Do you work to not gain it, so you do not have to lose it again? Do you end up relaxing and gaining some and then losing it?

I'm always thinking about not gaining weight especially when I can tell I'm relaxing or the scale nudges up. When I got to goal I told myself it is easier if I don't gain the weight in the first place and that let's me be in line most of the time. I worry that I might not have it in me to lose a good amount of weight again. There are times I'm up a bit and reining it in and going back to my basic plan seems to work. I also think that sometimes my body has a mind of its own when it comes to gain and loss, although probably it really boils down to how many calories I intake.

Have you found that your taste in food changed during your weight management journey?

Yes, my taste has changed. Unless I'm triggered I no longer have my sweet tooth. That's from not having sweets in the house and keeping away from them. I also find that once I'm satisfied I'm no longer interested in food which also helps. Now I probably should add that except for sweets I no longer have a hunger for specific foods. I think one of my psych meds did that to me.

How is your relationship with the number on the scale? Do you understand that you have a weight range not a goal weight? Do you understand that other things besides gain of body fat can cause a gain on the scale?

I'm pretty good with the number on the scale although I'm not happy when it starts to go up (or down too far.) I understand that I have a weight range and not a goal weight and accept my fluctuations on the scale. I understand that my weight can shift for other reasons besides the lose/gain of body fat. I'm sensitive to sodium (can gain up to three pounds overnight from Chinese food), so I know that will show up on the scale. I weigh daily in the morning to keep track of my trends, and weigh once a week in the evening for my WW weigh-in.

Tastes changes - I don't think my tastes have changed a lot. I think this is why I'm always working at avoiding sugary and fatty treats. Being stuck at home for almost a year has helped me not have to work as hard at it.
I understand fluctuations and gains that aren't really gains. Still, I do have an emotional reaction to the scale number. I've weighed myself daily for many years - probably since first getting to goal. But recently I've tried to back it down to once a week, and go back to the advice from a former poster on the old WW message boards - follow the program and the scale will take care of itself. I've also stopped counting points and calories for now. Over the last couple of months I started to feel that I was getting overly focused on numbers and thinking about food all the time. I'm trying to back that down.
