The 2022 mid-terms will tell the tale about where these Trump-excusing GOPers stand.
McConnell is going to vote to acquit, I saw in news today.
DT and McCarthy got into a shouting match during the Capitol break-in. McCarthy was begging Trump to call off the rioters. DT said "I guess they care more about the election than you do". At one point McCarthy yelled "who the f*ck do you think you're talking to?" But they are buddy-buddy again, I guess.

lani, DT also said they weren't his people doing the rioting. I just read that the Senate voted to have witnesses. One article said the Dems wanted to dispose McCarthy and Tubberville about their phone calls with DT while the riot was going on.

They don't care that the evidence is clear and damning, they're still going to vote to let him off the hook. Pathetic.

One article said the Dems wanted to dispose McCarthy and Tubberville about their phone calls with DT while the riot was going on. And a few minutes later they worked out a deal for no witnesses. Under the deal, Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler’s statement on a phone call between Trump and House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy as rioters stormed the Capitol was entered into the trial record as evidence.
They are now doing closing arguments. I imagine the vote will be today and the trial will be over.

Don't know if I'll regret it but I just clicked to follow the twitter accounts of the President, First Lady, Vice-President, and Second Gentleman. Someone did a cute story about Jill Biden shopping for Valentine treats wearing a scrunchie and I decided it would be fun to follow her.

And Trump has already responded. He responded more quickly to the acquittal than he did to the attack on the Capitol.

After the vote Mitch McConnell said Trump was responsible for the riot but McConnell felt they didn't have the authority to convict him because he was out of office. The House had the impeachment ready on 01/15 but McConnell shut down the Senate and said Trump will get a fairer trial once he is out of office, and he now says we can't convict because he is out of office.

IMO, they should have led with the phone call, not finished with it. Maybe they'd have changed more minds if they'd let it sink in for a few days, that Trump was willing to let them die rather than admit he lost the election.

that Trump was willing to let them die rather than admit he lost the election. So true and so chilling.

we can't convict because he is out of office. Of course he delayed the trial so Trump would be out of office by the time to vote rolled around.
