I haven't been reading articles but I see a lot of headlines about moving on. I don't think so. DT created a violent movement in this country and he did try to stop a constitutional process. I think we need to be on high alert to protect ourselves, the Constitution, and our Democracy.

From the article in the link below: Speaking on a host of Sunday shows, senators from both parties agreed that there should be a 9/11-style investigation into the Jan. 6 Capitol riots and that Trump had spewed falsehoods relating to the 2020 election. From the lack of law enforcement on the Capitol grounds that day to the seemingly coordinated maneuvers of the rioters, senators pushed to probe into the events that culminated in the attack that left seven people dead. "We need a 9/11 commission to find out what happened and make sure it never happens again, and I want to make sure that the Capitol footprint can be better defended next time," Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) told Fox News' Chris Wallace. This sounds good depending how honest and truthful the Republicans are. www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/senators-and-impeachment-managers-the-trial-is-over-but-the-work-isn-t-done/ar-BB1dFXau?ocid=msedgntp

A North Carolina financier reached out to a Texas non-profit (True the Vote) the day after the election and donated 2.5 million dollars to them because they said they were going to investigate and come up with election fraud so Trump could stay in power. He is now suing them for his money back saying they didn't spend his money as it said it would and that a lot of it was spent on people and businesses connected to the group's president. The group said they spent the money properly. Their investigation constantly shifted focus and they say they are still working on it.
I sure don't feel sorry for this man, and I wonder how he was smart enough to make the money he made.

From the news article in the link below: A new poll released by Morning Consult and Politico on Tuesday found that 59 percent of Republican voters wanted Trump to have a "major role" in the GOP, an increase of 18 points from a similar poll conducted in the wake of the Capitol riots on January 6. A small fraction of GOP voters (17 percent) said Trump should have no role at all in the future of the Republican Party, indicating that neither the scenes at the Capitol last month nor the former president's second impeachment trial have dealt a massive blow to any hopes of him being a leading conservative figure. Presented with a hypothetical 2024 GOP primary line-up, Republican voters also heavily favored Trump against many other leading party figures pegged for a run at the next presidential election. www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/republicans-want-donald-trump-to-play-major-gop-role-favor-him-for-2024-poll/ar-BB1dJfzh?ocid=msedgntpI posted this because I see a lot of headlines and comments writing DT off, and I don't think he's going anywhere and neither are his followers. The Wall Street Journal did an editorial proclaiming his influence is dwindling and he'll never win a national election again. The next four years will tell but I think he still matters.

I also saw a poll on CNBC news with Shepard Smith that showed the majority of Republican voters wanted Trump as their 2024 candidate. I am working from memory here, but I think it was 42% after the riot and has risen to 54% now. The next name up was Pence; he was in the low double digits.
This is bugging me. Re the power trouble in Texas. The WSJ had an editorial putting all the blame on relying on wind turbines; they froze up and stopped working. There was NO mention that Texas alone has their own independent power grid. Every other state belongs to either the east or west network, thereby allowing purchase of energy from other states when needed. Grrrr. Also, I believe most of their power is supplied by nat gas, not renewables.

Should I say what I really feel? When I heard I called over to DH "Russ Limbaugh finally died." He said "good". Not sorry. IMO the toxic floodgates of all the awful things that Trump came to be the figurehead of, started with Newt Gingrich and Limbaugh. And a couple more things. Ted Cruz flying back early from Cancun. He was scheduled to return Saturday. But he's getting flack for visiting warmer climes while his constituents freeze and some die. Among the many quips I've seen: If you like Pina Coladas, and getting caught on a plane...Another fun situtation. The Supreme Court has been sitting silent on giving a ruling whether Trump must release his tax returns now that he is out of office. Of course, the argument was he had blanket immunity while a sitting president. SCOTUS remains mum.

DotRen, It is fun to see him be picked on for what he did. He really didn't consider the optics on his family's choice.
