I just read in the local paper than Sunday is supposed to be a national anti-mask wearing protest day. They are mostly compliant around here, but I am definitely not leaving the house on Sunday. Not that I would have anyway; I'm only out Wednesdays and Fridays. We do have a couple of groups in adjacent cities that go to stores en mass without masks, and one that offers "free hugs" (the people offering are maskless) on a popular seaside walking path. My part of the state is overwhelmingly Democratic. I can't imagine what's going on in more red-leaning states. Well, I can, but I don't want to. What I've read about what's going on at the CPAC right now is not unexpected but makes me downhearted. Trump's influence is not going away any time soon. I haven't got the motivation to post details. Feel free to google CPAC if you want more bad news.

lani, I saw one article that at CPAC they were having several discussion groups about elections. My thought was how weird it is to have such a large group of people believing something that isn't true. I'm waiting for the COAC articles to find me.

lani, Read an article about the Colorado GOP. They believe there was fraud in the election and that Trump won. They want a recount and an investigation into Dominion voting machines. Oh, and they want to pass laws restricting voting.

birdgal, careful! I love you and I don't want anymore warnings on you! How's this one. At least four GOPers said they couldn't vote on the Covid relief bill "due to the ongoing public health emergency." Well, proxy voting has been established for just that reason. Said proxy voting the GOP fought against, but that's another story. The main aggro is all four are speaking at the CPAC. Aren't they clever, fooling everyone? Not.

And Cruz jokes about Cancun while over 1 million Texans are still without water.

Lani, thank you. I deleted my post. Sometimes I post in other chat rooms. I got a little confused. Thanks again.

This is true. One never knows.
I need to remember a saying from my youth. "A closed mouth gathers no feet." 🤐

bbbearsmom, I saw that too Judy. It's not similar, it's exact. They think they are so clever. It's maddening, the cavalier disregard of history. They'll continue to grow this menace with their tacit approval until they can no longer control it. It's insane.

You're right, Doordie. It is exact. It troubles me how cruel and stupid people can be. No interest in educating themselves. They embrace their dumbness. Or, that stage was done on purpose.
I'll always remember when John Kerry was running, there was a guy on here who posted he'd never vote for Kerry. Why, you ask? Because Kerry was too smart and this guy couldn't relate to him. He wanted someone more common. Lol. Yeah, all politicians are uneducated, plain folk just like you and me.
You can't fix stupid.
Lani, foot in mouth disease. Lol. Is that contagious? Because I think I have it too.

I hope that when it comes time to vote again that the people will remember which GOP congressmen and women and which Senators voted against the interest of their constituents when it came to the Covid relieft bill.

If it had been an accident or oversight, any normal group would have been mortified once they were made aware and took steps to fix it. They defend it precisely because they want it that way.
