Welcome to our 2021 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.
The main focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is to commit ourselves to success, one day at a time, one hour at a time....success breeds success! Follow a healthy food plan, exercise and stay AF.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment for the entire challenge is the way to go, but day by day is also a way to go. No one is cut from the challenge, and if you don't want to be part of the challenge, you are still welcome to post.

DRYUARY! Challenge! Let’s begin!
January 1 through February 12 (Lunar New Year)
Will this be your year? YES!! Twenty years since Y2K and it seems like the bug might have finally landed. But with that said, some things just have not changed. We went into the pandemic thinking this will end, let’s see what we can get done. Oops 2020 is over and we need to embrace a new and better 2021. Embrace with eyes wide open, with accountability, with questions not just going along, being the best you can be.
Now remember you need to be in the best shape you can be along with being a semi hoarder cuz if the zombie apocalypse comes, you need to be prepared, just a thought!
So with that…let’s start tweaking and niggling to make this year work for us. We can do this!
For many, New Year day means kicking off the year with a healthy beginning! We commit to healthy eating, no drinking and getting into shape. We want to cleanse our ourselves, our space, our environment. We need to eliminate the toxins so we can rejuvenate from within. We've filled ourselves with “celebratory” food and alcohol to enjoy the holidays or to medicate ourselves from the stress of the holidays. Come January 1 it is a fresh beginning.
So we come to the board to hold ourselves accountable. We come to the board to share our ups and downs, to share ideas of what works and what doesn’t. We come to the board to bond. We come to the board to celebrate success without food or alcohol.
Are you ready for this new challenge? If wavering, no matter, join in and take what works for you. Share, enjoy the bonding!
Options for being accountable!
What is the accountability for you this week?
What anxiety will you let go of?
NUTRITION ACCOUNTABILITY Ugly and good days Drink more water Drink your height in water….68 inches tall equals 68 ounces of water….add 8 ounce every seven days One or more fruit daily One or more vegetable daily Track nutritional intake Grocery List Share a healthy recipe Low Sugar, limit added sugar to 24 grams or less AF/AIM/AIE
EXERCISE SUGGESTIONS Shelf push ups Hoola hoops and jump ropes Step block….okay, Jane Fonda days Touch your toes Sit ups!
Create your own and share your own plan
JUST JOURNAL!
What did you do for yourself today? Motivational quote
HABIT ACCOUNTABILITY
We can be and will be accountable and supportive to each other. As always no judgement, just encouragement, and if needed, tough love though we are usually toughest on ourselves. Set your accountability goals and let's get to work. Let’s be healthier versions of ourselves come February 12.

Happy Super Sunday! I'm looking forward to the game, mostly for the commercials and our "party" food.
Yesterday DS AND DD walked the trail with us. We put out the Valentine rocks and hung squiggly pink and red sparkly pipe cleaners from the trees. I was pretty lazy after that, but did do some crafting while watching a Hallmark movie. Took a nap in the early afternoon, but still managed to sleep well with less thoughts of the big project. I feel my replacement is doing well and has been calling me less, but the upcoming project is too much for any one person. I think eventually I will be putting in less and less time and will stop at some point.
Eldest DS has moved to a bigger apartment with a water view. The previous place was a studio, this one has a bedroom and he thinks it will be a better situation for working from home. DH was tired and achey yesterday, probably from the Covid vaccine.
Murphy- Did you get your beef stew made? Glad you are feeling more normal. Hope your friend is doing better, sorry she's had such a rough time. You are a good friend.
Jan- WTG AF40, blue dot, less screen time. Yay for the weekend off! DS said he was going for a run when he got home, but we'll see if he gets many steps today.
GG- Hi!
Cindy- WTG for planning to purge, that's a lot of glassware! Sure was a long lunch with the Edsel guy. Yay for seeing a robin. Doesn't sound like my eldest sister will be stopping by. She and her hubby have not had the vaccine yet, I suspect she is being cautious for that reason.
Carole- Glad it was a good trip for the baseball game and that dad is home. Hope Angel recovers quickly from her UTI.
Cathy- WTG AF32, walking, eating well, scale down. Glad you were able to speak with your daughter.

Quiet time, work, plan meals, fit in exercise, create WI ACCOUNTABILITY January 1 start weight: 203 January 8: 201.5 January 15: 199.4 January 22: 199.7 January 29: 198.4 February 5: 197.7 February 12: "A year from now you may wish you started today!" Good morning all. Had a good day yesterday, got my steps walking Walmart and then danced around upstairs. Stayed off the computer from 9-3 except once to check a WW recipe for shrimp we made for dinner. Crazy how many times I just wanted to "check in" but made myself do something else, work at it again today. I knit a little, started a puzzle, looked through some cookbooks to help plan some meals this week, made the cats a needle felted ball. Even colder out today so I do not plan to leave the house! Will get some AP early as I know we will be watching the Super Bowl later. Lat night we watched Bohemian Rhapsody, Queen movie, I enjoyed it. Hardly ever get DH to sit and actually watch something other than news with me I don't even think he will go out for the papers today and brave the cold. Saw some pictures on FB today that just 3 years ago we were driving our first load of art here in the rental truck. Seems like we've been here a long time but this will be our 4th summer! Going to prep some lunch foods today and then get my chuck roast stew in the oven. Heavier points this weekend so will adjust for the week and see what happens. hope you all have a great Sunday....Go KC!! Jan Murphy So glad you could help out your friend and sending prayers for her recovery. Hope you feel better after a good night's sleep. Did you get any snow? GG Better to have no news than bad news! Enjoy your day. Carole So was this the game in Kentucky? Glad you got to see him play, it's been awhile. Was the trip with DH ok, or quiet? Glad you dad made it home and can now start getting better. Will PT come to the house? So glad Angel has a treatable condition and not something dire at this point. Sorry that a decision will probably have to be made at some point but at least not today!! Cathy Looks like the plan is really helping the scale move again. I do believe it's just about shaking it up now and then as our bodies get used to the same routine. I think when I do some high days and then really low point days I do better, also adding back foods that have been missing for a bit. Like now we mostly can get bananas, apples and oranges, when I can add back strawberries, melon and things that are volume but not a lot of points it helps. I'm struggling to eat salad much these days because it's so cold but know when I do it helps because I get more fiber and water. Going to make two layered salads in jars this week for lunches. Continue to stay safe until the vaccine arrives. I can see how it would be harder for you to give up some social life on the computer, and then your work is also tied to it, my usage is merely boredom, rabbit hole scrolling Cindy Good to see you check in. Hope the car deal goes through, if pick up is on Thursday will DS be home to help? Seems strange the guy would take him to the winery on the way home from lunch but glad DS was not drinking and could just enjoy the view. I've been trying to keep the bird feeders cleared of snow out back but sure haven't had many takers at all. Will have to rethink where they are in the spring and get them closer to tress that offer cover. We haven't even found the stump/twig of the Dogwood out front, but it could recover. Hope springs eternal. I'm finally going to see a Dr this week, needed to go in so they'd refill my scripts but going to figure out why my hip/leg hurts all the time. May not want to know, but it's time. Have a good day, only you and DS watching Super Bowl or will he have friends over? Amy I see you are still posting, will see which one of us finishes first I'm trying to keep up with Cory and it will be a good weekend warrior. I see others taking your shells to regift too. Are you still using shells you had collected in Florida? Glad both kids came on the walk with you. What do you have planned for the SB snack foods? Sorry about the Easter get together but maybe by the time you all can gather again everyone will be vaccinated. Hope you can really "retire" soon Did you make the pine cone wreath on a wire frame? Yay for better sleep!! Have a "Super" day everyone. I'll check back later when I'm off screen restriction...ha ha ha

Hi all and happy Sunday! We did get a little snow so we only had one church service this morning at 10:45. It ran a little long so I'm just now getting some lunch. I rested well last night but I'm still tired so my plans for today are snuggles on the couch with Callie! I had made some sausage and potato soup yesterday and planned to make the beef stew today. But since I was gone so much of yesterday, I'll save the stew till tomorrow. Forgive my lack of personals but I'm just going to close the computer and try to recharge today! Love you all and have a great day! Murphy

Hi girls. Yesterday DH and I went to a craft/vendor show. He’s the only one that bought anything! Lol He told me I went to socialize because I kept talking to people! Lol I went to church this morning and played the piano. Rylee is coming later to spend the night. Grandma will be tired! But happy!
Carole: So glad it’s only a UTI. And yay for watching Ty play! And for your Dad being home. Lots to celebrate!
Cindy: Good for DS! Does he even miss A anymore? I’m sure it’s like anyone else, every now and then the thought comes in but it’s easy, usually, to push it away. Someone saw a robin around here too.
Cathy: Enjoy your talk with family today!
Murphy: 2 things. My first thought was weren’t you glad you were AF and could drive her?? When I took Mom to the hospital that last time, they thought she had C Diff. First time I had ever heard of it. Nasty stuff. She didn’t have it, but ended up being septic. Prayers for your friend.
Amy: I hope DH doesn’t get any worse. I’m a little concerned. Both DS and DDIL will get their 2 nd dose on the same day. As well as the entire police dept! I hope their reactions are mild!
I got a new recipe for oat bread. I might see if Rylee wants to make it tonight. I’ll let you know if it’s any good. Only 1 point for a mini loaf on purple!

My word for 2021: FOCUS My Visual/Mantra/whatever: Believe -> See My Goals/Intentions for this year - at least ones I am contemplating include: ✔️* Making healthy food choices that when tracked on ITB will see me at goal weight before 2022 Another OP day ✔️* Will Record AF/AIM/AIE in my diet journal AF 32/ AIM 3/ ANIM 3 ✔️* increasing activity - want to increase stamina, strength, balance and flexibility walked 40 minutes yesterday...may walk today or take the day off. ✔️* Will write down an affirmation and gratitude daily in my journal or online tracking online and in paper journal ✔️* Limit the reading for review! ✔️* Revisit old fun activities that I have not included for awhile - needlework, movies, music, baking(?), January 1 start weight: 176.4 January 8: 178 January 15: 174.6 January 22: 172.2 January 29: 172.8 February 5: 173 February 12: scale: 171.6 (third day)
Nothing new to share. Did talk to our son in Alabama and he said that the vaccination rollout is crazy. He drove by a center that was to give vaccinations and they were not allowing more than a few cars into the lot at a time and the cars had to circle till they were allowed into the lot and a queue was not allowed on the street. I guess my sister's group doing vaccinations in Northern CA are doing a much better job! We have food to make into meals and meals will be made but who knows what they will be!
AMY: You sound busy and happy.. I am glad your son was able to move "up" in the world and has an apartment he likes better. Let us know how your Valentine's rocks and decorations fare on the nature trail!
JAN: I need to tear myself away from the computer, too. I also need to cut back on the books. Ah well...with time, perhaps. I thought the scale was stuck BUT just looked at the numbers for the past six weeks and though the movement is not GREAT there is movement! The main difference I see is that I reach for more fruit on this program and don't feel guilty about doing so. I know what you mean about salad in winter but I suppose a soup would give the same bulk, maybe? Hope you are enjoying working!
MURPHY: Hope you enjoyed your quiet day to recharge at home.
GG: You sound upbeat and happy with the socializing and getting to spend time with your granddaughter - enjoy!
