Good morning friends. Slept well even though I went to bed much later than normal. I'm a night owl at heart
After my 'getting beautified' I shall simply come home. While I'm at the salon, Carl will do the Walmart run. He's a keeper for sure.
Waving and wishing y'all a wonderful day. Sue DH remains in my thoughts and prayers.

Hi Ann and friends, Ann, I'm a night owl, too! I am trying to change that habit, but if I go to bed too early, I am not as well rested and wake up more. So, I am aiming for 10:30-11 Pm for bedtime. That's early enough. :-) I am glad you had a day of beautification today. Always feels good. I have a new recipe in the oven now that a friend gave me from the NY Times recipes. Four ingredients! It calls for a head of green or savoy cabbage, Italian sausage, some butter and s&p. That's it! I did jazz it up a bit by adding carrots and potatoes and I used Polish sausage since I had that in the freezer. It's a very slow cooking recipe - 300 degrees for 2.5 hours. I would have added a bit of carroway seeds if I had some. My friend raved about it and she's a great cook. I'll give my review later...lol I am for anything this easy! Here it is if you'd like it: cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1881-sausage-and-cabbage?searchResultPosition=1Copy and paste it into your search bar. It's still chilly and I have to run out in an hour to the lab for a test and to the store. I need a couple things. Today is our dear Cavalier Doug's 9th birthday! I can't believe he's 9 already. He's a dear. I gave him an extra Busy Bone for a treat! lol I'll check in later. Off to do a bit before I go. Sue, I hope your DH gets good test results and that you have a relaxing day, too.

Good Afternoon, WW Friends ~
Happy Thursday! My work week is officially over until next Wednesday! Monday and Tuesday are Mid-Winter Break around here.
I was busy, busy at work today as we had to sack up and distribute the take-home food bags for 150 students and get them to each classroom to be sent home with the kids this afternoon. Also we had chicken nuggets that went in dishes and had to have lids applied, making one extra function in our day. Nonetheless it was good to see everyone and keep busy.
Ann ~ Enjoy getting beautified (I know you will).
Judy ~ Happy B'day to Doug!
I talked to DH on the way home and he had called the cardiology office for an appointment (as instructed by the hospital) in two weeks. He said he sat on hold and the recording told him his wait time was 5 minutes; then about 3 minutes later it told him his wait time was 5 minutes; then after a while it offered if he wanted a call back he could leave his number, so he did. So far he hasn't heard anything. {{sigh}}
Meanwhile he called Incredible Edibles to order an arrangement for his daughter in Florida (who he has just recently reconnected with). He went to a store here and they showed him what they offer for Valentine's Day and he chose one. They called the store near her, only to discover that they don't deliver to her address. He thought quickly and called our grandson who lives in Lakeland, Florida and said he needed a favor. He, of course, said he would pick it up and take it to his mom. When DH called the store back the lady asked for the name of who would pick it up, and when DH told her, she realized she knew him! She said "isn't he the one on the radio?" (and of course he is) and she said he interviewed her once so she'd recognize him. What a small world!!
I am going in about an hour to meet VBF for coffee at Starbuck's. We're going to meet at the one nearest me, as it is the largest and has much more seating- and we are hoping to get a seat and be indoors visiting instead of in our cars out in the cold. We're both vaccinated and healthy.
DH is hankering for pizza for supper, so we worked out that while I'm gone he will make a salad, and then before I head home I will call for a pizza and he will go pick it up. Sounds good to me!! In fact, since I skipped lunch, it sounds REALLY good!
BBL. Make a great day!!

Back from the salon and she did a good job. Carl went to the larger Walmart in Gardner but wasn't able to get all on the list. I thought for sure he would as they have a better selection...go figure. Tomorrow we'll hit our little one and see if we can git R done LOL. It's cold and sunny out there and horrible to try to walk as there are puddles from the melting snow and ya never know if there ice involved. I will not go out in this as I never need an invitation to fall!!!! That recipe sounds good. I'm thinking of another veggie rather than cabbage as I am not a fan. Let us know how it comes out. I'm all for quick and easy Happy bday to Doug. LOL on giving him an extra treat. We DO spoil our fur kids Sue yeah to your work week being over for a nice extended vacation Gotta love that. I so enjoyed reading about the 'incredible edibles' You are right it truly IS a small world. Now I have that song playing in my head LOL. Doesn't take much to distract me Hopefully by now someone has called your DH back. NOthing more frustrating than being on hold playing the waiting game! Enjoy your coffee with VBF indoors and of course...PIZZA and salad. Win win that you skipped lunch and can fully enjoy that extra slice. Now it's time to head on over to the sectional. I'm exhausted but will try to stay awake long enough to read or play a game. We shall see. Pam hope all is well with you and DH. If I don't make it back into the cafe, will catch up tomorrow.

Good afternoon friends,
Sue -I am glad to hear you didn't have to spend the whole day yesterday wondering and worrying about DH and I am sure he got lots of TLC after you picked him up. Just another two weeks for DH to gain his immunity and then I plan to go back to my yoga classes. Just small bits of normalcy will be great. Enjoy your coffee date!
Ann - I quite agree with you about the noodles in chicken soup. DH usually ends up adding too many anyway and I like my soups "soupy".
Judy - It is so hard to get any group to adequately police themselves. We are seeing the results of years of law enforcement backing each other, even when they are in the wrong and I have seen the same thing with medical professionals. Basically, you have to cause someone's death and then they MIGHT hold you accountable. Sad! I would be on every attorney-rating ad I could find online, blasting her lack of honesty.
Debbie and I walked at 8:00 yesterday to get ahead of the rain. After a breakfast of yogurt, blueberries, pineapple and seeds, I helped DH load up some branches he had trimmed and haul them to the front for pickup, then tuned into a Senior Medicare Patrol webinar. I showered and dressed and headed to graveside services for my mom's best friend at noon. I was gratified that my younger DB also attended, so our family was well-represented. In addition to being my mom's best friend, her husband was my dad's friend and the two couples went on vacations together and out to eat, etc. They are together once more!
DH cooked eggplant parmigiana for our dinner. Madison face-timed to read us a bedtime story and then we watched a couple of episodes of True Detective. I read until midnight, then followed DH to bed. Unfortunately, my neck and shoulder were hurting again and I couldn't get comfortable. I finally drifted off, only to have a cat jump on me. I grabbed my pillows and went to bed in a spare cat-free bedroom and slept fairly well. My neck and shoulder are still very painful. This is the 3rd episode in as many weeks and I wish I could find out what the trigger is.
DH and I headed to BTR this morning in a terrible thunderstorm so he could get fitted for shoe inserts. We finally made it there only to find they had no record of him or his scheduled appointment. Luckily, they agreed to fit him in, since we had traveled so far. The guy was very thorough, but flat-out said they won't do the shoes (the other prosthetic place did) because it's too much hassle to get insurance and Medicare to pay. He did suggest where to look and several shoe styles to try. We go back in 2 weeks and DH needs to bring the new shoes with him when he goes back. He also stressed (like ALL his other doctors have)that DH's foot should never hit the floor without a shoe to cushion it due to his fallen arch. I hope hard head listens this time.
After his appointment, we swung by the Alzheimer's office for me to pick up a volunteer appreciation gift of an umbrella (so appropriate today!) then to my sister's to pick up some materials she is donating to our hospice volunteers who make "fidget" blankets for Alzheimer's patients. They are small quilted squares with buttons, zippers, tassels and different textures to keep patients' hands busy. The assisted living facility and nursing homes have been very enthusiastic about them, in addition to hospice & home health patients' families.
We stopped to get takeout for lunch/dinner. He ordered a shrimp poboy with sweet potato waffle fries and I got 1/2 chicken & 6 ribs with potato salad and coleslaw. We ate our fill and have more than enough leftovers for dinner tonight and probably a couple of lunches. We gassed up the car, dropped off the craft supplies at the hospice office, picked up my tshirt that proclaims I was vaccinated at HH/Hospice office, picked up DH's prescriptions at Walmart and mailed a letter at the post office. I was SO hungry by the time we got home at 1:45, I ate more than I normally would have. I still hope to post a good loss at tomorrow's WI.
It has stopped raining for now, though more is predicted later and again tomorrow. Our lovely 70 degree temps from yesterday have dropped to 50 and will continue to drop for the next several days. I haven't decided if I will walk or take the day off. Debbie is in NOLA working today.
Right now, I'm going to read a little with a cup of hot lemonade and a blanket.

Pam sounds like you've been one busy bee. Praying you find out what's up with the neck and shoulder pain. I know dampness just adds to it.
Meals sound good. Huge fan of eggplant parmesan.
Sorry your weather is getting cold. It was very cold here. I never did go for that walk and not up for housewalking either. Tomorrow is another day.

Pam, you are so right about professional groups covering for one another. Like you said, you basically have to commit a horrible crime with loads of press coverage to get them to punish someone. It stinks, but what can we do? We tried. I thought about writing bad reviews, but someone warned me off that strategy saying I could be sued for slander. Who messes with lawyers? That’s the issue! We have one more avenue we will pursue that the bar recommended. I did say my piece to the bar investigator in a polite and firm way. I told her that though she did a lot of work, she never arrived at the truth.
I’m glad your DH was able to get his fitting for the shoe inserts. I hope he listens to the doctor about wearing the right shoes all the time. I relate to hard heads!
I had a very sweet call from my DGS in CA this morning. He opened his Valentine’s from us and he was so happy to receive nice drawing pencils and a new special coloring/workbook I sent him. He loves to draw and is very interested in “schoolwork” – having a big sister helps. He also showed me a new stuffed animal and modeled the tee-shirt we sent him. DGD was doing her schoolwork so I didn’t chat with her today but she is having fun, too.
Ann, your red sauce on Sunday sounds great for Valentine’s Day!
Please send your prayers and thoughts to my wonderful big brother. I know he can beat this nasty cancer. Thanks.
