Welcome to our 2021 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.
The main focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is to commit ourselves to success, one day at a time, one hour at a time....success breeds success! Follow a healthy food plan, exercise and stay AF.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment for the entire challenge is the way to go, but day by day is also a way to go. No one is cut from the challenge, and if you don't want to be part of the challenge, you are still welcome to post.

DRYUARY! Challenge! Let’s begin!
January 1 through February 12 (Lunar New Year)
Will this be your year? YES!! Twenty years since Y2K and it seems like the bug might have finally landed. But with that said, some things just have not changed. We went into the pandemic thinking this will end, let’s see what we can get done. Oops 2020 is over and we need to embrace a new and better 2021. Embrace with eyes wide open, with accountability, with questions not just going along, being the best you can be.
Now remember you need to be in the best shape you can be along with being a semi hoarder cuz if the zombie apocalypse comes, you need to be prepared, just a thought!
So with that…let’s start tweaking and niggling to make this year work for us. We can do this!
For many, New Year day means kicking off the year with a healthy beginning! We commit to healthy eating, no drinking and getting into shape. We want to cleanse our ourselves, our space, our environment. We need to eliminate the toxins so we can rejuvenate from within. We've filled ourselves with “celebratory” food and alcohol to enjoy the holidays or to medicate ourselves from the stress of the holidays. Come January 1 it is a fresh beginning.
So we come to the board to hold ourselves accountable. We come to the board to share our ups and downs, to share ideas of what works and what doesn’t. We come to the board to bond. We come to the board to celebrate success without food or alcohol.
Are you ready for this new challenge? If wavering, no matter, join in and take what works for you. Share, enjoy the bonding!
Options for being accountable!
What is the accountability for you this week?
What anxiety will you let go of?
NUTRITION ACCOUNTABILITY Ugly and good days Drink more water Drink your height in water….68 inches tall equals 68 ounces of water….add 8 ounce every seven days One or more fruit daily One or more vegetable daily Track nutritional intake Grocery List Share a healthy recipe Low Sugar, limit added sugar to 24 grams or less AF/AIM/AIE
EXERCISE SUGGESTIONS Shelf push ups Hoola hoops and jump ropes Step block….okay, Jane Fonda days Touch your toes Sit ups!
Create your own and share your own plan
JUST JOURNAL!
What did you do for yourself today? Motivational quote
HABIT ACCOUNTABILITY
We can be and will be accountable and supportive to each other. As always no judgement, just encouragement, and if needed, tough love though we are usually toughest on ourselves. Set your accountability goals and let's get to work. Let’s be healthier versions of ourselves come February 12.

DRYUARY! Challenge! Let’s begin! January 1 through February 12 (Lunar New Year)
January 1 start weight: 177.4 January 8: 176.1 January 15: 175.4 January 22: 175.9 January 29: 175.2 February 5: 175.4 Final Weigh In February 12:
Another beautiful day of weather yesterday! I did a couple hours of work after posting here, then we took the golf cart to the trail. All of the exercise shells were still there, as well as most of the Valentine's rocks and shells- yay! We had a Teams meeting at 3pm to discuss the project, then I did more work on it. It feels like it going well and should be able to finish it by 3/22. I got a little work gossip as well, always fun.
Jan- WTG AF43, blue dot, rollovers, steps, AP. Getting a new car at 0% sounds like it might be a better deal. Thank Scout for the message! DH started taking SS as soon as he reached his retirement age, about the same time I retired.
Murphy- Glad Linda was discharged and you are determined not to be her servant. Did she remember to pack her loofah?
GG- Getting shocked while doing dishes sounds scary! Sorry you have no energy. GL at the GYN today.
Carole- Glad dad is doing well and you got some sleep and workouts. Hope DB can do his part.
Cindy- Sorry about the crown, the cold and snow, and being tired of February. WTG on your stepping, glad it's helping. Did DS ever get tested for Covid? My sister gave me a couple of bottles of Vitamin D. I was a little concerned about taking too much as my multivitamin; hair, skin, & nails supplement; calcium tabs and chews all have Vitamin D as well, but then there's a video circulating about how taking 25,000 I.U. is so fantastic for you. I'm probably taking closer to 3,000 and do get outside most days. Tiers in the backyard would be great.
Cathy- Happy birthday! WTG being down 25+ pounds from last year. Glad they are easing restrictions a bit. We planned on putting a concrete pad along the back of the house that's about 10 feet wide, and steps up and down off of it, as well as widening the driveway. We still plan on the concrete pad in the back, since it's just mud right now, a retaining wall in front of the concrete pad and widening the driveway. The quote for the concrete steps was 11K, which seems too much to spend (it was over half the total quote) so we're going to see what alternatives are available.

Good Morning all. Will head to the Dr's this afternoon. After last nights uncomfortableness I'm ready for some relief and answers. I have about an hour and a half before I have to be at the appointment so may go look at the thrift store for some new books before driving north. They also asked if I can work on Saturday as we've been so busy, I'll go in at 9 and stay at least until one, or all day til 3 if necessary. I just have to think of the reward . We'll probably be eating leftovers for dinner as I didn't want to plan anything for when I get home. We have meatloaf, salad, could make soup, no one's going to starve! The days continue to be very cold but the sun helps with the attitude a lot. Glad for dry roads for heading to the dr's. Tomorrow DH is chomping at the bit to go get a cashiers check for his car project. I have to go with him after work to the local bank here where the money has been transferred. So glad he decided to have the car shipped and we're not trying to plan a trip at this time too. No other news, just keeping up the work to see the scale move this week to end the challenge. Feeling hopeful and happy with my progress. Have a great day all. Jan Gg. Glad the scale went down a bit. Hope DH can solve the plumbing/electrical problem, that's scary. Hope you can get some energy back and answers from the bloodwork. Cathy. I like avocados and use them with eggs, we buy them for our fajitas and salads, just don't know why we leave them so long instead of cutting them quicker. Looks like you will be in a new decade soon!! Congrats on being in a good place for your birthday. Hope you enjoyed it. Cindy. Brr, sounds cold for Texas. Sorry DS is still not 100%, hope he bounces back soon. Didn't want to make DSIL sound too mercenary My brother is a musician and still enjoys working so he hasn't really "retired" but he substitute teaches to add to their income, meaning he works days at schools and nights at gigs. But who knows, maybe he likes being out of the house ha ha luckily he turned 70 this last year, started collecting his $$ because the bar/job scene has dried up and not many teaching jobs. Still think she should take hers, she'll be 65 this year. Keep up the good stepping, I too am adding Vitamin D and trying to eat more whole foods. GL planning out your summer garden even if it's just on paper Carole. Dad's progress sounds great. Hope DB can pick up some shifts this weekend so you can get home. Murphy. Bless you for taking your friend home but glad you're going to take care of "you" too. GL giving blood, sounds like you should then go out and treat yourself to something "special" Amy. That sounds about right for concrete, we paid a lot for our patio and pad to put the shed on. Hope you can find a happy medium for the projects. yay for nice weather and getting in your walks, and the shells still being there. After this big work project do you think you will want to be done? Or are you like me and enjoy the fun money? Sounds like I can up my Vitamin D, I just take the one little gel cap. Maybe one in the morning and one afternoon would be good. This morning DH had gotten up early and the cats went out a bit. By the time I came down to write and have breakfast they have been passed out sleeping and staying out of trouble. Will check in this afternoon, need to get moving.

Good morning everyone,
I don't know what it is with me, almost every morning I sit down and start a post, then never finish it. I guess that's me in a nutshell, no follow through, well except for my knitting projects, those get completed. The A has been anywhere from 1 to 2 drinks every day, the weight doesn't change and I think it is because my mindset has not changed. I was really hoping for something to kick in but it just hasn't. I know a lot of it has to do with no closure with work yet. I am still under the care of my surgeon who basically is confirming that I probably won't be able to do my job again. I have pain almost every day and I still cannot turn my wrist fully, when I try, there is a lot of pain. The OT had to stop for a while because I ended up getting tennis elbow which can be excruciating. I see him in April and then I have a meeting with a lawyer. Since I had no intention of retiring until 72 which would have allowed me, at the time of the accident, 4 more years of a higher income and 4 more years of service which would have allowed me to retire at a higher retirement rate. I just feel like I am in limbo and I think this is what is causing the anxiety and depression. Hopefully, I will have an answer in April, and hopefully most of the pain will dissipate eventually.
Everything is about the status quo, DD is due March 22nd, but her gyn said that anytime after next week, if anything starts early, they won't stop it. Isabel's heart is strong, size is good and actually in a perfect position now. She will definitely bring brightness in my world.
Not sure if I mentioned that DH did got his first shot of the Phizer vaccine and scheduled for the second on 2/25. I have said through this pandemic that our Governor Charlie Baker has done a "A+" job with mask mandating and really following the CDC phase guidelines throughout, but I am really disappointed in the vaccine phase rollout. I don't know when the 65+ will be able to schedule, and it is ridiculous that I have to accompany my DH because of his speech and language issue and I cannot get it when I take him because I am 69. Yesterday Baker did say that he is allowing a care giver, or one who needs to accompany a 75+ individual would be allowed to get the vaccine no matter age but it is allowed only if the appointment is/was scheduled at a mass vaccination site such as Gillette stadium. Since DH's was done through our PC's affiliated hospital, it is not a mass vaccination site, I therefore cannot schedule, ugh! So on this I have to give our governor an "F".
Amy~ Gossip is always fun, I do miss that since I have been out of work, lol! How is DD feeling and how is the job search?
Jan~ Hope all goes well at the Dr's appointment, did you hurt yourself? Your progress with this challenge is fantastice, woot, woot!
Murphy~ There is definitely a place in heaven for you! I am happy that you won't let your friend take too much advantage. Is this the friend that moved into your complex or is this someone else? Have you gotten your second shot, if so, how did you feel?
Carole~ So glad your Dad is doing really well! I looked back at some personals, and I was thrilled that Angel only had a UTI!!
Cindy~ Wow, olly, olly oxen free, geez, does that take me waaaaaaaaaaay back, lol! I'm here! It looks like you Texans are getting Massachusetts weather! I have been taking Vitamin D for at least 5 years now. When I first saw a breast surgeon at the MGH Avon Breast Center ( I was fortunate, I only had dense breasts and she just monitors me), she recommended both 2,000mg of Vitamin D, and 1,000mg of Vitamin C (especially in respect to cancer) for immune system support. I have been vigilant with the D and I should really get BOT with the C.
GG~ Hope DH can find out what is wrong with the electrical in your home, yikes that is scary!
Cathy~ Happy Birthday to you!!! Woohoo for the weight loss this year, you are rocking it!
Well, that is all that I got, I will try to do better and check in more often, who knows, I might find that by talking to you girls, I might pull out of my doldrums, like I didn't know that already, DUH!!! Through the years, you have all been such loving, caring, non-judgemental friends and I love you all for being here, thank you.

Back home now. They had. hard time getting a vein to work so I got stuck a few times. This was just plasma donation so I think that took longer too. I got so chilled even though I had two blankets on me! I'll just take it easy the rest of the day.
Liz - this is another friend from church. Thank heaven she doesn't live here! LOL. Judy is the one who moved in next door and she is so kind and sweet. She's a great neighbor! I am taking Linda to a doctor's appointment tomorrow afternoon.
I'm going to fix something to eat now. Everyone have a great rest of your Thursday! Murphy

Hi girls. Home from both work and the Dr's. Really like the new Dr, all about healthy lifestyle and meds as a last resort. She is going to have me do 8 weeks of PT for my hip, she said no lumps or anything unusual to feel, probably combination of muscle strain and some arthritis. She said if we go right to x ray and they settle on that they will just want you to get shots and take meds, so we're trying stretching and OTC first. I also have to go back next Monday for fasting blood..At least I'll have a plan and feel like I'm trying to work things out instead of worrying and looking online for every bad cancer or clot I could have! Bp numbers were good and even the scale was friendly with all my clothes on . Now to figure out dinner!!! Hugs to all. Liz So good to see you, things will get better, sorry you can't get the shot with DH as I had seen that about the caregiver being able to get one too. Can you call the clinic and see what the rules are? Is it worth it to go somewhere else so both of you could get it? The mojo fairy is lurking, check in when you can, maybe we can help. At least you can always vent and share here..

What will you be accountable for today? Does watching the birds eat work??
Move More Accountability - Did not do well today...woke up with headache and the weather was just bad to walk outside
Sleep Accountability - don't want to think it is a lost cause but....
Nutrition Accountability - so not good
Journal Accountability - need more discipline
Happiness Accountability - fair to middling
Habit Accountability - water is becoming the norm and have cut back on caffeine. Still doing well on the water and better on caffeine
Check in Daily Accountability - I'm here!!
Time Management Accountability - making progress on the steps as part of time management...now to incorporate other stuff. Need to figure out what the other stuff is!!
Hi All, It has been a horrible, terrible weather day!...okay, just not use to it in Texas. The huge crash of 70 -100 plus cars was terrible...I am always amazed at people that think they can cut in front of semis in good weather and think they can stop quickly. Very sad for the fatalities...DS drives 10 miles to work and still slid through a red light...no one was coming so he was okay...once he got to work, realized he didn't have his phone but got messages on his Apple watch and most were going to be late. Only one customer today! But on a funny and nice note, a customer had Pizza Hut deliver six pizzas, pasta dishes, and cinnamon pizza to thank the staff for all they do!
So I have stayed in for the day, not good for steps! Brought trash out and the barrel was frozen shut...should have brought stuff in tonight but think I can get it done in the AM before the weather gets worse. Decided if plants die, so be it, I just can't protect them all.
Amy, yay for the shells being there and for a wonderful weather day for walking! Yay for work gossip and being able to help and being paid for the help! DS did get tested for COVID...negative again...this was his fifth test, all work related. His boss pulled strings to get him tested when he arrived....not fair, as he understood, but the line really wasn't that long and no one seemed to care. Donuts and coffee probably made people content to just chat. The free testing lines are almost empty.
Murphy, you are an exceptional person for giving blood for the plasma. I hope you have warmed up. Just remember that because you are retired does not mean you don't have stuff to do. BE THE BEST TO YOU! You can't take care of others unless you are caring for yourself!
Jan, probably didn't come across well about your brother and DSIL...apologies. My BSIL (b stands for bitch) decided to divorce my brother because she decided she didn't want to care for him in his "old age". The stupid B divorced him a few days before the 10 year mark. She made several missteps and our attorney basically told her attorney (a friend of my brother) good luck suing a dead person. I am probably a bit sensitive....so to speak. So glad that DH is having the car shipped. With the ice storm, the Edsels are still hanging out and I keep holding on to the check. Very glad you liked the new doctor and that you have a plan! It is so hard starting over with a doctor!
GG, how goes your day? Did DH figure out the problem with the dish washer?
Liz, so good to see your post. My DB and DSIL are in Wilbraham and are on the schedule for the same day. They are within a month of each being 75. DSIL said it was crazy getting the schedule together and my brother has health issues. My brother in SC was easily able to schedule an appointment. It is crazy and I blame the state government...not like that didn't see it coming!
Cathy, happy, happy birthday! Loved the flowers your DH gave you, pictured on FB! I hope you had a wonderful day!
Carole, what is happening with your brother regarding care for your Dad? Remember to care for yourself...it is hard to be a care taker!
The birds were pigs today and finally decided the new bird feeder was usuable! If we have a break in the weather I will go and buy more seed. They entertained Ainsly for quite awhile...she is out of sorts...not quite sure why but we shall see.
Going to try and stay up for a Celtics game but not sure it will be worth it. We are at 16 degrees right now.....so not right for Texas!
Hugs to all, Cindy
