This is a thread devoted to those in their 50s & 60s and beyond who don't have children or grandchildren but live rich, full lives. Please feel free to join our stroll thru life and come back often for support and to share. ****************************** It is the year of the Ox.
Anyone remember the song “The Year of the Cat” by Al Stewart in 1976?

Chele, thanks for the start. Too funny, I listened to The Year of the Cat album a few days ago. I thought of it when I saw something about the Year of the Ox coming up. I loved that album when I was in college, but hadn't heard it in years.

Kathy, I discovered Al Stewart and Dan Fogelberg my freshman year of college and wore the vinyl out on their albums.
Linda, I hope the coffee does the trick.
Waving to the rest of the gang.
It is going to take more than one chiropractic visit to put Humpty Dumpty back together again. He has another appointment on Tuesday pending the weather. The chiropractor’s wife works at the base and their weather guesser says 6-8 inches Monday into Tuesday. I went to grocery and stocked up. Neither of our backs is up to digging ourselves out or using the massive snow blower. I told Humpty I am calling this the House of Pain. We seem to be going from one problem to another. He told me not to make him laugh because it hurts. 😂 😢
Well, I promised to deliver an ice pack upstairs, so I’d better get going. Have a great day. Stay safe.

Chele, I saw Dan Fogelberg in concert when I lived in Houston. He had such a beautiful voice. Not bad to look at either, lol. I never managed to see Al Stewart, but he does smaller venues now like the Hard Rock Cafe. Well, at least he did before Covid. He is on my list to see if we ever go to shows again. Sorry about Humpty Dumpty and the House of Pain. You two have had a rough time this year. At least your sense of humor is intact.
Linda, those spam calls are SO annoying! Hope caffeine helped.

Thanks for the start, Chele. Happy Lunar New Year. Is it not being called Chinese New Year this year because we are mad at them about coronavirus? I do remember Al Stewart. Did you know that the iconic Peter White is the guitar player on Year of the Cat? Humpty did it good. I hope your back eased up, or you may have needed a two-for-one at the chiropractor. Did you pick up lunch on the way back? That's pretty incredible about the guy in KY with the iced window. I would have expected the ice to stick to the window, which may have broken the glass when he tried to roll it down. The tire is just getting frustrating and I get anxious about driving to KVL, but I have scoped out all the tire places and gas stations with air compressors along my route. I just hope I never need to use one of them. I'll get an appointment for a tire rotation for next week and hope for the best. The tires were 45K rated and they are a bit past that, so it's probably time for new tires anyway. I did the Miranda Esmonde-White connective tissue video again this morning because I'm a little sore from yesterday. Hopefully it will help. She claims we will feel energized after doing it. Not so far. BTW, in doing research, it appears that her method is similar to what the special machine at the gym is supposed to do. It's an essentric trainer, so I'm using some of the same techniques in a different way. I hope the base weather guesser is overly optimistic on the accumulation.
Becky, welcome to winter. I hope the ice didn't do damage to the tree. Have things warmed to the point that it melted? How were the roads when you went to HEB? Did your headache go away? I've had one this morning as well and I think it may be weather-related. Did you hear any updates on the pileups? Dallas does have ice sometimes so I would think the chances of the roads being pretreated were greater there than in Austin.
How are you feeling, Linda? Did coffee help your head? Spam calls are so annoying. I'm sorry it woke you up. Is tomorrow the dishwasher install day? How is Micki doing?
Kathy, is today a grocery day? Is DM itching to get out now that she has been vaccinated? It's a shame Fogelberg died so young.
Do you have the weekend off, Denise? How are the covid numbers at your hospital? Have you decided to get the vaccine? I remember your saying you planned to delay when it first was coming out.
The rain finally cleared out about mid morning but then we had fog until early afternoon. Supposed to be a cloudy weekend with intermittent rain, but at least it's not supposed to be below freezing until the middle of the week, so it will just be rain. Maybe it's the weather, but I'm fighting the urge to nap.

Karen, it is called Lunar New Year because it is traditional to many east Asian countries not just China. Not sure when we changed terminology. I did not know Peter White was the guitarist. Driving with that tire would make me nervous, too. Glad you have the route scoped out in case you run into trouble. I find all the Essentrics classes to be very difficult and tiring, but after a period of recovery I do feel peppier. I did the bone strengthening one yesterday and had to march in place in spots because my muscles were rebelling. It is definitely challenging 😰 but we shall continue.
Kathy, lucky you seeing Dan Fogelberg in concert. It was a handsome fellow in addition to being talented.
We actually have sunshine right now. I am humming “Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy.” 🎶

Karen, I'm doing a grocery order for DM right now. Our weather is making me lethargic, but for different reasons than yours. It looks like we're stuck in the 80s until late next week. Yes, it was sad that Fogelberg died so young. I'm glad I had the chance to see him. The wood stork was on the other side of the pond, so I was watching with binoculars. He never moved to a good position to get a picture. Hopefully, he'll be back. I used to see them up near the front of the neighborhood all the time, but haven't seen one lately.

Chele, I wouldn't have made the connection between Chinese and Lunar New Year if a friend of mine whose partner was born in China hadn't texted me photos of his Chinese New Year spread just yesterday. This is the first year I remember it being called Lunar most places. Was the bone strengthening Essentrics 30 minutes long? The bone one on YouTube is about 7.5 minutes, so it must not be the same one. I did find out that the connective tissue one was filmed in Mexico. Keep doing it and it will get a bit easier over time.
Did the grocery order go well, Kathy? I hope the wood storks come back so you can get a photo next time.
Linda, we just got a call on the landline and the caller ID said, "Probably Fraud". Didn't leave a message so it was more than probably. LOL on not seeing a text for 3 days. That happens to me sometimes when it comes in and the phone is off. Shelter and rescue volunteers are definite heroes. Amazing to have snow shoveling dreams after all these years. We have tuilps starting to emerge, so I guess they are on a similar schedule to your ash trees. Do you have emerald ash borers there yet? How are your knees?
I managed to stay awake this afternoon, but it wasn't easy. I'm still tired and knees are sore still. I wish Arya would stay in bed tomorrow and I could sleep a bit longer, but that's a longshot. Dale is doing the grocery trip tomorrow and he'll want to get an early start.

Thanks for the start Chele. Sorry Humpty Dumpty didn't get all put together again.
Linda For awhile Kenneth was getting those warranty calls every day. Now he gets solar energy calls and I am getting the warranty calls. I never hear the phone ring but they leave a VM. The Chinese woman is finally leaving me alone. I hope caffeine helped.
Karen Since we are still not above freezing icicles are still on everyone's trees. It feels just plain icy out there with the wind. The roads were fine because enough people had been on the road by time we left. My headache is weather related too. I told you about Jim Spencer is going to semi retire at the end of the month. He posted on Facebook today that he had never had to forecast a winter storm like this in his entire 30 years at KXAN. Did you hear Brian Manley is retiring from APD? If I were him I would tell the city council to kiss my a$$.
Kathy I wouldn't mind a couple of your 80 degree days right now. Our low was 27 and our high was 30. It's back down to 29 now.
