Welcome to our 2021 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.
The main focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is to commit ourselves to success, one day at a time, one hour at a time....success breeds success! Follow a healthy food plan, exercise and stay AF.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment for the entire challenge is the way to go, but day by day is also a way to go. No one is cut from the challenge, and if you don't want to be part of the challenge, you are still welcome to post.

DRYUARY! Challenge! Let’s begin!
January 1 through February 12 (Lunar New Year)
Will this be your year? YES!! Twenty years since Y2K and it seems like the bug might have finally landed. But with that said, some things just have not changed. We went into the pandemic thinking this will end, let’s see what we can get done. Oops 2020 is over and we need to embrace a new and better 2021. Embrace with eyes wide open, with accountability, with questions not just going along, being the best you can be.
Now remember you need to be in the best shape you can be along with being a semi hoarder cuz if the zombie apocalypse comes, you need to be prepared, just a thought!
So with that…let’s start tweaking and niggling to make this year work for us. We can do this!
For many, New Year day means kicking off the year with a healthy beginning! We commit to healthy eating, no drinking and getting into shape. We want to cleanse our ourselves, our space, our environment. We need to eliminate the toxins so we can rejuvenate from within. We've filled ourselves with “celebratory” food and alcohol to enjoy the holidays or to medicate ourselves from the stress of the holidays. Come January 1 it is a fresh beginning.
So we come to the board to hold ourselves accountable. We come to the board to share our ups and downs, to share ideas of what works and what doesn’t. We come to the board to bond. We come to the board to celebrate success without food or alcohol.

Since rain was threatening, we squeezed in a walk in the neighborhood, it started to rain before we got home, but we were dressed for it. We didn't know it at the time, but it's a good thing we took the back roads to Marietta to see the financial planner, there was a major wreck on I-75 that closed down several lanes about that time. We are done with our weekly meetings with the financial planner, but can reach out at any time with questions and will probably meet on a yearly basis. We stopped at a Popeye's to see what all the fuss was about their chicken sandwich. It was good, but not 23 points good.
I had trouble falling asleep last night and after two hours, I got up and had a shot of rum. And another. And another... until the room was spinning. I guess I'm still an alcoholic. I feel wretched this morning, deservedly so.
Murphy- WTG donating plasma! You're a hero.
Jan- WTG AF44, blue dot, steps, AP. Sorry your hip is hurting, hope the PT & OTC help. Glad you like your new doctor and DH's car is being shipped. Congrats on your progress in the new year.
Liz- Sorry you've had trouble posting- we miss you! Sorry you feel like you are in such limbo until April and haven't been able to get the vaccine. Glad DD is doing well and you've got the new baby to look forward to. My DD is feeling fine, but is frustrated about the job hunt.
GG- So glad they found the problem with DD's sink!
Cindy- Sorry about the cold. The crash in Fort Worth looked horrendous! Glad DS got to work safely, yay for the Pizza Hut delivery. Also glad DS tested negative and the birds are entertaining Ainsley.

Good morning all. Up, showered, dressed and ready for work. Had some snow overnight so will need to clean off the car and hope the roads aren't too slick. I know today I need more water so have my glass filled up to take with me and will try for 90 oz today. Excited to be closing in on 50 days AF, I had toyed with the idea of wine for Valentine's Day but now that I have fasting blood work on the Monday morning that has been taken off the table. Don't want wine to mess up any of my numbers. I'm not craving any A, it's the mental "celebration" idea I still am trying to let go. I will celebrate this year with some bright, living plants and maybe cut flowers to fill the kitchen!! Weekend will feel short with working on Saturday but I'll probably be going in late Monday and will have a short day to make up for it. Hello friends! I came home last night and worked this morning. Supposedly Tyler is playing in West Virginia, I sure hope they allow fans. I’ll laugh if they do because DH is going to Vegas that weekend. When he said he wanted to book it, I didn’t say anything. later, when we were fighting, I said I can’t believe you’re going —no job. He’s still doing contract work but for who knows how long. DB stepped up, he went to dads last night until Sunday. I told him I’m working Monday and he’ll see if he can work from home, dad’s. I don’t know if any of you are on alcohol experiment Facebook group—one girl had been sober 50 days (I think) her 37th birthday was coming up and she decided she was going to get drunk. While out for bday she decides she wants to have sex. (She’s drunk) hooks up with this guy, he says his last test says he’s clean. Her test is also clean. Afterwards they start dating. Weeks in he tells her he has HIV. His test was clean but then slept with 12 women after. This poor girl now has to get tested. If she’s negative she still has to get tested at 3 and 6 months. She’s a single mom of an 8 year old. I can’t get this story out of my head. How her world is rocked and possibly changed. I’m not judging, it’s by the grace of God that I’m still alive and have not hurt anybody. It’s amazing that I still think of having a cold beer. How freaking stupid. On that note, have a nice night. Hi girls. Got my bloodwork done, but didn’t see the dr as they were running behind. Got to my mammogram appointment just in time. All squished for another year! Did a little shopping. The dressing rooms are still closed, so I’m sure something will have to go back. Fun to buy comfy casual clothes! DS met me for lunch. He and DDIL got their 2nd shot this afternoon, so we are on standby to take the kids if the adults don’t feel well.
Amy: Hugs to you my friend. It just goes to show we can never take that sneaky dragon for granted. You said you were having trouble sleeping. We’re you worried about something? Had you been craving A?
Jan: Good luck on the scale tomorrow! That’s pretty much what my dr did with my hip. First therapy, then shots. Hope the therapy works for you!
Carole: Where in WV? It’s not Morgantown, is it? I used to be on the Alcohol Experiment FB page, but there were too many that kept starting over. It wasn’t helpful for me at the time.
Murphy: Jan has talked a lot about The Alcohol Experiment too. I thought you did it with us when several of us were doing it?
Cindy: Hope things are calming down weather wise. I haven’t watched the news.

BRRRR! Real feel is 12 degrees and we are under a winter storm advisory. When I went out to refill the feeders, the tops were frozen shut so had to bring them all to the garage and then into the house to defrost them in the sink. Not sure the birds liked the new food but tough...it is still good quality. I'm wondering if the BPA plastic ones will crack before the storm is over....we are expected to get below zero. It was interesting to watch the birds fluff up, especially the red winged blackbirds.
Had another bout with Ainsley being upset and hissing and doing the low throat yowling. I just sat calmly until she calmed down....she is still seeing haints I think in the hallway. Guess tomorrow I know what I will clear.
Amy, my heart is with you. You are amazing, something slipped in your brain but you just get back on track. One slip does not mean that is who you are. You aren’t defined by this. If we put too much pressure on you for being our leader, please let us know. I hope you were able to rest/restore, move forward. You are loved. Hugs! Jan, due to Ainsley hissing and yowling I am behind my steps. I had to sit while she calmed down. That is my excuse! I didn't stay up for the game but watched the highlights on ESPN this AM. Another game tonight. How did work go? When will the car get delivered? Look forward to checking on your son's site.

Carole, I feel terrible for the woman on the Alcohol Experiment FB page. It is a sad commentary that people need to say they are "clean".
DS has a dear friend that cheated on her husband and she got herpes....so no hiding the cheating. The marriage has survived but I think they are co-dependent. So you will be heading to WV? Glad your DB stepped up.

Hi Liz!
So today the President of the bank sent "Nothing Bundt Cake" bunlets to the bank to thank everyone for their hard work and contributions and Happy Valentine's Day. I'm not sure if the cake company is just in Texas, but the bundt cakes are amazing. An employee made up Valentine goody bags for everyone. I should just quit grocery shopping and live on sugar. DS brought me two bunlets and the goody bag.
Ainsley is on top of her condo tree so maybe I can get some steps while watching the Celtics play. Keeping my fingers crossed that we do not wake up to icy conditions in the morning!

Nothing much to report. We are working our way through the produce and keeping busy. I did enjoy my birthday and had calls from unexpected friends and also from family. I have been staying up WAY too late but that is fine, too. The scale was up a bit this morning after the extra points eaten the evening of my birthday. the pounds will drop again soon, I am sure!
AMY: It sounds busy. Sorry you were unable to sleep and one thing led to another. I am sure you put yesterday where it belongs...behind you...and are moving forward with purpose today.
MURPHY: Great that you donated blood for the covid-19 cause!
JAN: I understand the celebratory wine thoughts...had those and indulged them on my birthday. You sound upbeat and positive and like everything is going well!
CAROL: That is a crazy story about the woman with HIV from a not so wise choice...I think that at any age one should use condoms if with someone new...just nuts not to no matter how old you are!
GG: I hope your son and DIL don't have side effects from their second shot BUT am glad they have you as backup for the children if they do feel miserable.
