Thanks for the start, Karen.
Becky, how is the water situation? I was reading all about Texas weather yesterday. Stay safe.
Kathy, it would be weird to be that warm with the trees in autumn colors. So are the camera and lens on your wish list? I am assuming they are ultra expensive. I have a hard time sticking to a hobby, so it would be a waste for me to invest big money in any hobby.
Karen, a bluebird? Wow! I went out and refilled the feeders Saturday afternoon and we had flocks of gold and house finches. The starlings came in droves but I scared them away. I am glad your friend and her DH got the monoclonal antibodies. I wish your other GF recovers quickly but it seems like it might be awhile for her.
Linda, how is the new dishwasher? How are Bob and Micki feeling?
Liz, take care of yourself. How is Zoe doing?
Denise,I hope things are going well in Michigan land.
It is snowing lightly right now but the roads are icy. There have been two accidents on I-70 at our exit. Needless to say Humpty and I are staying in. Round 2 of the snowstorm is due to begin around 3 or 4 pm. The NWS says we should expect a grand total of 8-12 inches from both weather systems. Yippee! I guess we were due for a real winter since it has been 3 years. Humpty is feeling better from the ice packs, walking the house, ordering me around and rest. He is still not in shoveling shape but may be in snow blowing shape soon. I am descending into my exercise den soon. I found exercise ball workouts, Sit and Be Fit and Essentrics videos on You Tube and Prime. Choices!

Chele No water because of the pump. It is currently 8 degrees and I have no idea what the feel like is. We have had rolling blackouts since 3:00. I am wearing sweats and a jacket under 2 blankets because it’s 47 degrees inside. I still feel fortunate to have a house to live in and not living on the streets.
Hope to bbl as I can.

Becky, I am glad you can see the silver lining from under your blankets. I was watching TWC and heard about the rolling blackouts. Do you know how the cows are faring? I hope Kenneth is all bundled up if he goes outside.

Happy Presidents Day and Happy 4th Birthday to my Sweet Potato.
Becky, I was watching TWC this morning and they had people in Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio. None of TX looks good. And the worse is yet to come. They talked about the rolling blackouts in Dallas but it sounds like it's well beyond there. Do you have a way to keep the cows warmer? This is unprecedented for them, like it is for you. Do they have a barn to get out of the elements? We had times at the other house when we had power outages for several and it got into the upper 40s/low 50s inside and that is not fun. Keep warm!
How much more snow are you expecting, Chele? TWC had someone in Cincy as well, so I know it's not good in your area either. Yay for Iggy feeling some relief with his recovery regimen. Being able to use the snow blower would be a step in the right direction. LOL on "exercise den". We call ours "the pain cave". I need to check to see what's available on Prime when our wifi becomes normal again (it's been out since Saturday afternoon). I think I only have 1 more season of NYPD Blue and then I need to figure out how to proceed.
Kathy, are you having t-storms today? It looked like you might from the weather maps I saw. With all the rain we've been having, they have another rockslide on the Spur in G'burg. That is becoming more common in the last few years.
How are the allergies, Linda? Is the new dishwasher working well? It's good that it's so similar to your previous dishwasher to decrease the learning curve. How is Micki?
Liz, did you see more law enforcement presence on your a.m. commute? I heard there were a number of stabbings with fatalities and they seemed random. I believe they were on the A Line and I don't think that's yours. They said they planned to have an extra 500 officers but they didn't say they would be concentrated on one particular line.
Are you having weather issues as well, Denise? It's strange how these storms are being so hit or miss. They are having ice in Nashville and some areas to the east of middle TN, but we are just expecting rain here, but it will get into the 20s tonight, so the roads could be dicey.
I listened to an interesting podcast this morning from the doc in charge of the national weight loss registry. He says you can lose weight without exercising, but to keep it off, you need to exercise. He said 93% of the over 10K people on the registry exercise at least an hour a day. He blames the obesity epidemic on our environment, where we have as much food as we want and no real incentive to be active. So for weight management, you have to be sure you burn through exercise as many calories as you take in. He also said most of the registry people do some sort of resistance training. I have been thinking about upping how long I exercise (right now I'm doing 40-45 minutes at least 4 times a week plus 30 minutes one or twice more. The doc, Dr. James Hill, was being interviewed by Chef AJ and she says she spins an hour a day while she watches Netflix and if the show is good, she goes longer. She also walks her dog an hour a day. Arya and I walk more when the weather is a bit warmer, but not when it's too cold because she tends to lolly-gag and it's just not comfortable for me to be out for so long. I just need to get up and move more. Tonight is a MG meeting night and we have a plant sale committee meeting before to figure out what we are going to do to improve on the sale this year, since it will still need to be socially-distanced. With the rain we're supposed to get, it's good that it's a Zoom meeting so we don't have to be out on the highways.

Happy Birthday to Arya! She’s a big dog now. Karen, I have the time for an hour of exercise a day. Just some days I don’t have the will. Saturday I was lucky to do 20 minutes on the bike. I have been doing an hour most days this month though. It takes a lot out of me so I am hoping my endurance improves. We are expecting anywhere from 5-12 more inches of snow going into tomorrow morning. Another storm may come through on Thursday. That storm is coming from PNW and dumped 9.5 inches of snow on Portland OR.
Linda, it is easy to overdo the exercise on an injured joint. Take care of yourself.

Chele, I may eventually upgrade my camera, but it's not really on my list at the moment. I haven't really been doing enough photography to justify it right now and my newer camera has a pretty good zoom capability. Wow, that's a lot of snow! So bizarre that we're in the 80s while the rest of the country is freezing. Some of the cold air will make it down to us this weekend, but the forecast doesn't look too bad. There is a tornado watch in the panhandle, so I hope that weather doesn't make it down here. Glad Humpty is doing better.
Becky, I hope your water and power come back soon. That's really cold inside the house. I was wondering about the cattle too. Sending warm weather vibes from FL your way.
Karen, we might get some storms tonight, but it's dry right now. What's causing the rockslides to increase? I saw Memphis on TWC this morning and it looked like they got a lot of snow. That's interesting on the exercise. Do you schedule yours out for the week? I've been trying to get at least 30 minutes for 5 days/week with longer sessions on a couple of those days. I've been neglecting the treadmill in favor of yoga and Jazzercise, but that would be something I could do while watching TV. That's good that you don't have to get out on the highway today. Happy Birthday to Arya! Can't believe she's 4 already.
Linda, same here on heat pumps and exposed pipes. We were visiting relatives in South Florida one time and heard there were pipes bursting in Central FL due to an unexpected hard freeze. We left right away to check on our houses. I don't know how cold it actually was in my place since the thermostat only went down to 55 and that's where it was at. Luckily, none of us had broken pipes. Hope the knee isn't too sore.
Liz, how are things in the big city? Stay safe out there.

Karen, too true on the human diet. Forgot to mention that I watched Men in Kilts last night. Have you seen it yet? This one concentrated on seafood and Scottish whisky. I'm hoping for more scenery and history in some of the future episodes.

Chele, yes, she's a big girl now. It's amazing how she has grown into an adult body. I could probably fit in an hour a day of exercise. I just have to structure better. It doesn't have to be one continuous hour either. As you get more exercise in, your endurance should begin to build. YIKES! on all that snow! I thought you would only get a couple more inches. I guess Iggy won't be going to the chiropractor for a follow up until later in the week. How is your back doing? Are you having weather-related issues? Have you heard from DB regarding their snow?
Sorry you overdid yesterday, Linda. We used to be able to do that kind of thing, but no more I'm afraid. Back off a little and take your time with those exercises. How fast do you get to walk with Micki's short legs? I go a lot faster when it's just me and not towing a basset with no legs.
Kathy, I think north of you looked like it would be worse. If the panhandle is under a tornado watch, I wonder about DB/DSIL, since they are just west of there. The slides on the Spur are a result of all the rain. They already had one late last week, so this is the second one in as many weeks. The treadmill is so easy to ignore. I am forcing myself to do it once a week but need to increase that. Ours is old and the incline no longer works. We really need to invest in a new one, but the company that made ours went out of business several years ago and we really like it. And, it's not like we have many stores around here that sell fitness equipment, so our options for replacement are very limited. When I was a triathlete, I scheduled my training in 3 month blocks--2 swims, 2 bikes, 3 runs every week and I had a rest day built in, so one day I had to do a double workout. I probably need to get back into scheduling at least a month at a time, but it's a lot easier to do that when training for a race. Now that I no longer compete, it's difficult to get the motivation for that much discipline. And I have a 20-25 lb wt gain to show for it😞. Our roads around here are ok today, but the folks to the north and west of us are not as fortunate. Tomorrow morning could be a different story here. I had hoped to get the tire problem taken care of but we'll have to see. Men in Kilts is DVR'd to watch some time this week. I agree on more scenery and history. I'm not sure I'll find the seafood and whisky all that appealing.

Karen, there is some scenery in the episode, but it seemed too short to show much. There was some intro stuff with Outlander, so maybe they'll have more time in future episodes. I hope to get back to Scotland someday. We mainly saw Edinburgh, but didn't get up into the Highlands. You could spend a couple of weeks just seeing everything in Edinburgh, so we barely scratched the surface. It is a beautiful country. I have thought that maybe scheduling workouts would help, but I'm not sure I'd stick to a schedule. I can see where you'd have more motivation with the triathlete goals.

Kathy, I was in Glasgow for a business trip and one of the ladies took pity on us and drove us to Loch Lomond. Absolutely gorgeous. We even ate haggis. I would love to go back. Let’s hope the bad weather stays in the panhandle.
Karen, it’s snowing big flakes and the wind is blowing. I am watching people driving home from work. Our road was not treated. Hopefully the main road to our plat was treated. There are two municipalities that own the main road so you never know which side will be treated or neither. Our plat is on the border. I was wondering if your DB was getting any icy stuff, since Louisiana got snow but he is probably too far south.

Sheesh, I would not want to be on international news for unusual and dangerous weather.
Karen, I forgot to mention that Iggy’s chiropractor cancelled all appointments for the whole week. 🤷♀️ He is rescheduled for next Tuesday. He did go out and throw the ice melter on the driveway. My back is in that stage where it feels better but it tells me immediately when I need to stop doing what I’m doing. I got my workout in and made lunch before it got testy.

Chele, that's great that they took you out of the city and you got to see Loch Lomond. You were braver than me on the haggis! I had a shepherd's pie that was really good. We just got a severe thunderstorm alert and it's sounding nasty out there. Nice picture of the snow!
