borntexan hopefully it is heading your way today π No sun until tomorrow and wonβt be above freezing today. Even once we get out I doubt grocery stores will have food on the shelves. We are really low on food sources.

I'm thinking of everyone in Texas - it all sounds so terrible. Glad everyone is checking in and holding on.

borntexan, Hope this isn't headed your way. Major snowfall again in San Antonio right now - already gotten 1-2 inches and it is supposed to snow for several more hours. Tomorrow afternoon, everything should start warming up. Don't think we have broken pipes, but hard to tell because we have had no running water for the last 2 days. No word on when it might come back. Looking for a hotel with running water and power for this weekend for a shower if it's not back on. Hotels seem to be fully booked. Texas certainly wasn't prepared for this.

santex!! Glad you checked in Sandy! It is crazy, we double-wrapped our outside pipes in insulation (pipe wrap) and they just didn't survive the -5 temp with the wind chill. Just got a *light snow* alert from TWC. It is so pretty here with the snow but not going to miss it when this mess is over with. No hotels anywhere local, checked into that for my folks. Fingers crossed for just frozen pipes π€

I just saw they're going after price gougers (good!) one air b&b was charging $1000 a night (usual price is $200).

I'm glad the other Texas people seemed to have fared OK. We are in DFW area. We live 15 minutes from the airport. The low was -2 degrees. Today -- a week later -- it was 80 when we went out to go get our 2nd vaccination.
We were in the group of people that did not lose power. (We briefly lost power for 3 hours after the worst was over but I think that was due to a downed line or something and was not a rolling outage). Like a lot of people in our situation, we live close to a fire station. If you were on the same power as a first responder or hospital you didn't get the rolling outages usually. So, it was all pretty minor for us. Although our dog didn't like the 5 inches of snow in the yard....
My son and daughter live in Houston together and lost power in their house the first night and then a couple of days later had to evacuate after a major burst pipe (they went to a roommate's mom's house ... she was close to a fire station and had power...the drive to get there was a little hairy for them but they made it). Thank goodness they are renting so fixing that is the landlord's problem.
It still just blows my mind that today it was 80 degrees and it looked like we had never had snow....
